While I typically love YA fiction, I think this book was a little more young, than young adult. While YA can be rather predictable, I found this book to be too full of stereotypes to be fully enjoyable. That said, I think it would absolutely appeal to a younger audience.
Author shows promise, but needs work on showing instead of telling. Many scenes read like a manual for how to have a teen romance. No heat, no chemistry, no spark to the book at all. A shame too - I could see how the story would have been really good in the hands of a more experienced story-teller.
I read the sales blurb for this book and thought "wow! Like Judy Bloom". I read the mentioned books when I was a youngster and have never forgotten them. Unfortunately this book falls short of the hype. Seventeen year old Janey King has a lot going on in her life. Parents divorcing, and popular senior boy, Luke Hallstrom, wants to date her. It's all about first times in the story and how Janey deals with them. It's pretty much true to life and provides details of all the insecurities that she's having to deal with on a daily basis. Forget the Judy Bloom reference and read it with fresh eyes.
On the positive side, it was a fast read. I really wanted to love this book but this was not what I was expecting at all. I am not the target market for this book, quite clearly.
An okay book. Maybe trying too hard to be like Forever by Judy Blume. Id stick to that one.
This book seems like your average first boyfriend book, first love, but nothing that makes it stand out above the rest

I very much wanted to review this book but was unable to accomplish the download format, which is via Adobe Digital. I sent a message to the publisher to try to work out an additional means of review as I am interested in the book and would love to read and review it.
