I was drawn to this book because I wanted to see how this young man was able get all this high school student to turn their life around. Through the grace of God, Brian was able to have doors open up to schools and to ignite revivals in the lives of thousands of teenagers. It was a wonderful reminder to me how God can use any of us to further His kingdom... but most of us are not obedient this God's calling.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of The Jesus Club through the publisher and Netgalley:
The Lord has used Brian Barcelona in High School Campuses across the Nation with his One Voice Student Missions.
We are reminded that young people have many views of Jesus, some even question his very existence.
In July of 2009 at a gathering called Spirit West Coast, at the age of Sixteen Brian discovered his calling was to reach out to Highschool Students across the nation.
Brian was an atheist until 2007 when he gave his heart to Christ.
This is the story of how God can use just one person, a teenager to start a revival.
I give The Jesus Club five out of five stars:
Happy Reading
A young 18 year old boy, Brian accepts a call from God to evangelize the nations' high schools. Brian says "yes" to God, even though he does not know what the future will bring.
Brian went into his old High School and he went to the Bible Club leader and told him that God had told him to reach high schoolers and the teacher let Brian speak two days a week. God told Brian to preach and he faithfully preached and God began saving students, a group of punk rockers who came to cause trouble came to the meeting, God told Brian to pray for them aloud about depression, suicidal thoughts, and addictions, and they and a large group of students got saved!
You will need to read the book for yourself to see how God used Brian and the Jesus Clubs to change the High schools in California!
If you are serving in youth ministry or have passion for reaching the youth, I would strongly recommend this book.
This book teaches me how a simple act of obedience can make such a difference for our generation. God doesn't need our ability, He just needs our availability.
I serve in youth ministry for years and somehow I can relate with what the writer feels and deals with.
I was crying when I read this book. I don't think because of the sentimental story behind this book, but I believe because this book is about God's heart for teenagers.
I can feel God's excitement when the students stood up and decided to receive Jesus in their life.
This book really stir up my passion again. I'm so excited realizing God really hasn't finished dealing with high schools.
Thank you Netgalley for this book
This book is powerful, convicting, and encouraging. You will be moved to tears as you read the testimonies accounting the power and love of Jesus Christ as He moves through the high schools across the nation.
Brian Barcelona was a 16-year-old atheist who accepted Jesus Christ into his life and never looked back. At the age of 18 he went back into his alma mater in California and started a massive revival that quickly spread to the roughest schools in and around Los Angeles. This resulted in thousands of gang bangers, drug addicts, and lost souls embracing Christ and professing their faith to join His Kingdom. This story is about students who met Jesus in a Bible club at lunchtime on their campuses, the Jesus Club.
In the intro Barcelona shares this - "I want to share with you the story of the Jesus students are meeting in their high schools; the Jesus who touches their lives; the Jesus who heals their families, both spiritually and physically; the Jesus who saves them from hell right in their gyms and auditoriums and theaters during lunchtime, every week; the Jesus who is not afraid of the separation of church and state; the Jesus who goes beyond four walls and a pulpit to the school grounds and classrooms."
The ones who sit in Jesus clubs today will be the ones leading the next generation of students. This incredible story shows how one small spark can ignite a fire in the hearts of those students who are seeking Christ. This is the story of how One Voice Student Missions was formed. Barcelona chronicles every step of his journey - the discouragement, the anger and frustration, and the support he received from unlikely sources. He took a leap of faith based on the "Field of Dreams" mentality - if you build it (or offer it), they will come. One important point that he makes is that students are the heart of every city and their families are the body. If you get the heart you naturally will get the body.
I recommend this book to all Christians as a reminder to share your faith and disciple those that need it the most, particularly the youth of our nation. I received this as a free ARC from Chosen Books on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
