I really enjoyed the premise. The characters' actions annoyed me at times, but then that made them seem more like real people.
On the evening Rachel moved away she left Henry a letter. A letter he didn't respond to. It saddened her and made her give up on her crush. Now Rachel is back in town and she's not going to give Henry the chance to break her again. She's also hiding the fact that her brother passed away less than a year prior and this has devastated her. As the summer progresses, Rachel gets a job at the bookstore run by Henry's family. This brings her into daily contact with Henry and leads her to reevaluate her decision to keep Henry at bay.
I don't have the words except: I loved this book. After sobbing my eyes out for the past couple hours, all I can say is put this on your radar in June. Dealing with grief and falling in love, beautiful words all strung together and hidden love letters make this a book I'll reread over and over again. This will stay with me for a long while.
I love this book so hard. I finished it 2 weeks ago but haven't stopped thinking about it. The writing is gorgeous. I kept bookmarking pages with lines that just blew me away with beauty. I can't wait for it to be published so I can buy a paper copy that I can underline. I loved every single character. The plot drew me in and I couldn't put it down. The only bad part was that it ended. So much love for this one!
This book was sad but a romance and finding love again. I loved that it took place in a bookstore . I loved the friends and the romance that happened between them. I enjoyed that it didn't happen right away and that one of the characters didn't want them to get together. Family was a big thing in this book and I enjoyed reading the notes in the books from the different characters.
This is an amazing book about grief and how difficult grief is to deal with. It shows that people are never the same after something tragic, but that does not always have to mean something bad. This is a great lesson on growing up, making tough decisions, realizing what is important in life and how there can be regrets in life. Really beautiful story and I loved the premise of it all!
The best book I've read in a while. Not just for book lovers or word lovers...or ocean lovers. Any human will relate to this beautiful story! So evocative and just made me think of all the people I've known and loved and crossed paths with. Not in a super sad way, but in a way that appreciates the bigness of our world and of our histories. I didn't want it to end. And I *loved* the special letters in the book, especially a particular one!
