Ahhh Finn is the perfect book boyfriend. I want to take him home!!!!

What a cute book about two people fighting for their love for each other against all odds on them.
Finn is the womanizer the love em and leave em type and Rory is the girl so focused on her job as a lawyer she just can not see what's in front of her until one firehouse meeting and all she sees is those eyes and she is done. Rorys father has always told her that firefighters are off limits and especially ones from his own firehouse as well as the one and only Finn Ward. But Finn is trying to get her to just go out on one date and see where this goes and gosh does it.

This story is so sweet and you just want to curl up with a cup of coffee and read such a fantastic love story between these two.

5 Stars all the way!

This was my first Kelly Elliott book and I really enjoyed it! There were a few times where I didn't feel completely connected to the characters, but overall I enjoyed Rory and Finn's journey. I found myself laughing out loud at times as I read this book. And I'm pretty sure Flash will make you laugh, too! I really liked how the chapters flipped from their perspectives. I like seeing the story told from the hero/heroine.
Rory and Finn first saw each other because of their respective jobs. There was an immediate attraction and I liked how Finn tried to find out who she was. His brothers knew he shouldn't be knocking down her door. And once he found out who she was, he knew he shouldn't do anything about it. But their pull was too strong.
Captain Adams has had it out for Finn and he's had his eye on the firefighter. It makes Finn work harder and mind his Ps & Qs for awhile, too. Even having a friendship with Rory is cause for caution when it comes to Captain Adams. But she helps him with Flash and I liked how easy their friendship and banter was. Their relationship felt natural and it was easy to get caught up in their story. I enjoyed the sweetness between the characters and the heat between them! I was cheering for them despite things happening around them. I liked this book and hope you give it a read!

BOOK BLURB

A larger-than-life firefighter inspires a career-driven woman to live in the moment—and trust in the power of love—in this flirty, emotional novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Searching for Harmony.

Finn Ward has two passions: being a firefighter and being single. Although his parents are constantly nagging him to settle down, Finn just wants to enjoy himself while he’s young. Then, at a union meeting, he meets a gorgeous lawyer with a dazzling smile—and suddenly, settling down doesn’t sound so bad.

Rory Adams is fresh out of law school and looking to make a name for herself at her mother’s firm. She doesn’t have time for silly games anymore. But when she catches the eye of a dashing fireman who makes her body tingle from across the room, something instantly ignites between them. The only problem? Her father is Finn’s boss.

Their relationship turns both of their lives upside-down. Rory tames Finn’s wild ways, while he shows her that life can’t be all work and no play. But it’ll take some serious determination to keep their love secret—and real courage to admit the truth.

Praise for Kelly Elliott’s Searching for Harmony

“Searching for Harmony is a heartwarming story of a woman who suffers an unthinkable tragedy—and finds an unimaginable love. It’s a real charmer!”—USA Today bestselling author Tina Wainscott

My Thoughts

We cannot help who our heart chooses, no matter how much our brain disagrees with said choice in the beginning.

Finn has several strikes against him going in, his reputation with the opposite sex, his occupation as a firefighter and most importantly his boss is Rory’s father.

Rory has been instructed by her parents, especially her father, since childhood not to date a firefighter. Her job working in her mother’s law firm has proved to be demanding all of her time, both during and after work hours, so she at first fights against her instant attraction to Finn. There is a big case coming up which means Rory can afford no distractions, especially one that she knows her father has always vehemently expressed his negative opinion of.

Not wishing to cause a division between Rory and her family Finn agrees to hide their relationship, not of course the wisest move the two could have made.

Nothing more to reveal but will say the journey to togetherness for these two is one that is well worth taking right along with them, no matter how upset it makes the reader on their behalf

This second book picks up smoothly where the first left off, with even more intensity than Harmony and Preston’s story.

When finished my emotions were still engaged and in turmoil on behalf of Finn and especially Rory as things ended with no resolution between she and her father.

I am fully invested in these characters, looking forward to finding out what happens next to the main couples and their friends as well in the books to follow.

Boston is a city I haven't been to yet, and this book has made my travel bug itchy, especially if I came across a firefighter like Finn! He has a lot of qualities we all love in our BBFs, loyalty and trust being right up there. He is someone you can depend upon and trust your life with. He even loves dogs! It is going to take one special woman to curve his player ways, and he feels that Rory is that woman, if only he could get a date with her.

Rory, is a lawyer working for her mother's firm, trying to make a name for herself and not coast on her mother's laurels. This takes a lot of hard work and long hours, and relationships will have to be put on the back burner. That is until she sees Finn at a Union meeting, and is smitten with him from the very start. Except with work and the long standing agreement she has with her firefighter Captain dad, that she never dates a fireman, this just can't work, unless......

I enjoyed reading this book, even though it was a bit repetitive and drawn out. Rory's character was naive and inexperienced due to her parents being controlling, but she also grated on me a little. There were also some story line discrepancies that annoyed me, like the lead council of the case Rory was working on. His harassment behaviour when working on a harassment case was ironic. I do believe the secondary characters brought this book a more pleasurable read. If you enjoy family sagas, then you will like this series.

Fighting for Love
❤️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤
Author Kelly Elliot
Received this book from Netgally for an honest review.
This is a book written in Dual POV MY PERSONAL FAVORITE.

Finn a larger than life firefighter pursues Rory a fresh out of Law school lawyer who works in her mothers law firm. Their first encounter is when they see each other at a union meeting for firefighters. So the odds are against this duo from day one, Rory's father is Finn's captain at Firehouse 33 and hasn't made a good first impression. Rory has always been a rule follower and is completely under her fathers control. Rory's father has always forbid her to date firefighters. Being the workaholic that she is she hasn't had a social life in years other.

Finn has never had a serious relationship he has enjoyed being single while he's young. His parents are constantly nagging him and his siblings to settle and start a family. Believing that's not in his near future plans until he makes eye contact with Rory and his entire world changes.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Congrats on this wonderful book I truly enjoyed reading Fighting For Love and look forward to more books from Ms. Elliott.

This is the first book I have read by Kelly and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. I lover her work and this one has got to be one of my favorites by her. Finn and Rory were the perfect match for one another. I just loved how their relationship grew and how they connected on a much deeper level. There was just the right amount of drama and angst throw in to keep you on your toes waiting to see what happened. I loved it and will definitely be reading more of her work very soon.

Great story from Kelly! I loved it and for a number of reasons. Not in any particular order: Flash, the endless ball of energy pup that Finn was training, or was it the other way around? Finn, yes I loved Finn, and Finn's family. Rory, who grew a backbone, took no crap from that jerk hat Russell (who else hated that sleezeball?) The birthing scene(s)!!! Classic. The titled chapters. Rory's mother. Finn's brothers. The birthing scenes. Yes, I know I said that already.... those alone are worth the read. The laughs, the eye rolls at some of the antics and that crazy dog. And yes, Rory's stubborn ass father. Nope, didn't say I liked him. Alienation by choice. It suits him well.
Kelly got her groove back in this book and it was great to see this story unfold between Finn and Rory.
We get a closer look at the Ward brothers, and makes me wonder if we're going to be seeing Wes up next. I hope so.
One thing some may have noticed or not was the open ended ending. I didn't say cliffhanger. I simply said, some things were left open. Relationships yet to be developed or resolved and some unfinished business and I love that Kelly did that. It leaves much to be discovered in another book.
Love, this book was about love. The kind where two people who are willing to risk much for that love.
Damn good story line.
Great story Kelly!! I'm ready for book 3!! Yes you should read this book!!

I absolutely loved this book! It was so sweet and heart-warming.

Rory is married to her job; she is a lawyer and is working for the firm owned by her mother so she has a lot more than anyone else to prove. She works all the cases she can and all the hours under the sun so has little time for socialising.

Her father is the Captain at one of the local fire stations and has told her under no circumstances can she date a firefighter, she has always respected that decision, until she met Finn.

Finn is a firefighter and a bit of a lady’s man. He thinks the Captain at his station is out to get him especially when he sends him home with the stations 4-month-old Dalmatian puppy to train! However, things may just change for Finn as since he first set eyes on Rory he cannot get her off his mind.

Finn is determined to get Rory to go out with him and she eventually agrees, the two grow close really fast but Rory is reluctant to tell her family for fear of her father’s reaction.

What will happen when Rory’s dad finds out? Are Rory and Finn willing to fight for their love?

"Fighting for Love" is a hilarious read that grabs ya quick and doesn't let ya go until the end. Only read this book if you have time to invest in the whole story ... I couldn't put it down. Read it in one night.

Kelly Elliott's Boston firefighters are something else. They play hard and fast until THE one comes along. Then they fall even harder and dedicate themselves to that person more fiercely than to their first love... being firefighters.

And that Ward family! How can you not fall for them all? They are all great. Everything you'd want: warm, caring, supportive, close and honest too.

Really enjoyed Finn Ward's rapid transformation from player to all-in partner. He saw Rory Adams and that was it for him. He pursues her with passion, ready to pull out all of the romantic stops to get her.

Rory was pretty smitten too.

She's interested bUt time and Finn's profession are seemingly insurmountable obstacles in the way.

As a dutiful daughter she's only had time for one lackluster relationship back in college because of all the time she spent studying for a law degree. Since then she's been putting in endless hours winning cases to prove herself at her mom's law firm. With no easing in sight. So while a quick sexual encounter might sound good, she really doesn't have the time; she's just started a new case, working under a real jerk attorney who treats her as if she's there to pacify mon and look pretty-- and even trues to make a move on her. So who has the time.

Besides, she's not sure what the big deal about sex is anyway. It's been lackluster at best, at least in her limited experience with her college beau. She can give herself a better orgasm, so why bother? Except just locking eyes with Finn at a seminar has her all amped up.

Plus Rory's dad is a fireman too. So she l knows the strain of waiting hours while your man's at work in a fire, hoping he cones home and OK each time.

And, Jim Adams is Finn's captain. So not only has Rory's dad forbidden her to date or get involved with firemen on general principle -- he can attest to their bad behavior and unworthiness first hand - he specifically at the mention of the fireman's name especially warns her against any contact with Finn and his BFFS. He says he can attest to just how much of a womanizer Finn is. He also makes no bones about the fact that he doesn't like him. In fact, Captain Adams made Finn take the new station dog, a Dalmatian puppy named Flash, home with him to train.

It's Flash that brings Rory and Finn together initially. She sees him with the unruly pup. He ends up injured. She goes home with them to help, then offers to go with him to help get dog gear. Several bags later they return to discover Flash has ransacked his apartment, including tearing up his new couch.

So, when Rory finally gives in and agrees to a date... things progress fast with this pair. He does romantic things for her all day and introduces her to the side of him few ever see, then has to hide in bushes at the park to keep her dad from seeing them together. Daddy Adams reiterates she's never to date a fireman and stay especially away from Finn. The date ends at the hospital, where Finn's sister-in-law is giving birth. Both Preston Ward and Finn end up passing out in the delivery room and Rory coaches SIL through delivery.

Despite all of that Rory just can't stay away from Finn. Their relationship grows at an exponential rate, but there are still the basic obstacles which continue to grow. Finn and Rory can't help themselves or keep their hands off of each other. No need for a match around these two, just catch a spark off the inferno blazing between them.

Soon it becomes apparent they're going to have to tell her dad before he catches them sneaking around or someone else tell him.

Elliott throws a few monkey wrenches in the works, including a few secrets (one really sweet and one wtf-ah ha!) plot twists that I didn't see coming and an inevitable ultimatum and decision that promises hurt and sacrifice regardless.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing-Loveswept for a sleepless night spent with this pair and their pals. Eager to see what's the next Boston Love Novel brings.

The one thing that I wasn't crazy about was switching point of views between the two main characters every chapter. Most of the time it was an easy adjustment, and was nice to see inside both leads thoughts. But there were a few times I had to go back to make sure I was in the right POV; felt kinda like whiplash a few times when it did't transition equally each time.

If you don't like profanity in you stories, this isn't a book you. Finn's POV is just that. And he thinks and talks mostly like a firman and just all around guy/ player. Rory's BFFs also talk like modern women who like to have fun. For me, that added to the authenticity of the characters and setting.

Fighting For Love
Kelly Elliott
**5 Stars**
Kelly Elliott is one of my favorite authors and her words never cease to amaze me, after reading Searching For Harmony I didn't think I could love another Ward brother more, then I met Finn. Fighting For Love is book 2 in the Boston Love series, but can be read as a true standalone. I guarantee you'll want to go back and read Preston and Harmony's story though, because you'll fall in love with them too.

Rory and Finn, I can't get over how much I love them. Their connection was instant, almost as if it was familiar. Finn is one hot, cocky firefighter. He knows he is sexy and his reputation of a player lets everyone else know it as well. After meeting Rory in a union meeting he learns she dad is the captain over Engine 33, the station Finn works at. Does this stop him? No, because he knows he wants Rory and he isn't going to let anyone stop him.

Rory lives her life by what her parents have dictated. Until she meets Finn then things are about to change. Finn is the firefighter her dad told her not to date, even more so her dad doesn't want her to date Finn because he knows all about Finn's reputation. Will Rory listen to her dad still or for once will she live the life she wants and go after the man of her dreams?

Let me just say Finn is the king of romance. I was swooning over him and I couldn't but fall in love with him. He is amazing. Kelly did an amazing job at creating yet another Ward brother you can't help but fall in love with. You laugh with Rory and Finn and love them all at the same time. I hope we get to see more from the Ward family because I feel like Wes has a story to tell.

I LOVED this book!! I can't wait to read more about the Ward brothers!!!

Rory is a strong women. She struggles a little in this book with standing up for herself. Mainly with her parents. I love watching her transform and turn into an amazing independent, strong, self sufficient woman! Everything I want my heroines to be!

Finn isn't your typical hero. One look at Rory and his smitten. He has to know her name. That turns into a challenge. He's always up for a challenge when it comes to learning about Rory and how he can make her his. He isn't going to let anything stop him. Can he make Rory see that he's the man for her? Or will he end up scaring her away?

This is an amazing read. I love that we got to see Harmony and Preston also! I cannot wait for more books by Kelly Elliott!

This book had a decent premise, but was too drawn out. Finn Ward, a sexy firefighter (is there any other type in romance novels?) is immediately attracted to Rory Adams, a young lawyer handling the firefighters’ union account. The only problem is that Rory’s father is Finn’s captain and he had forbidden his daughter to ever date a firefighter. He has it in for Finn because he thinks that he’s a player. Rory works for her mother’s law firm and feels that she has to work twice as hard to prove herself.

Although Finn has never wanted just one woman, he falls hard for Rory. She falls for him. It’s insta-love. They hide their romance from her parents for all of a few weeks. There’s an adorable, but disaster-prone, dalmatian puppy that brings them together.

Of course, her parents find out and at the most awkward time because Rory is too much of a coward to tell her father ahead of time. She’s also too much of a coward to stand up to her parents at all. She went into law to please her mother and then chose a job at her mother’s firm instead of trying to make it on her own. Instead she just feels more stressed than an ordinary first-year lawyer might feel because of the additional pressure she put on herself. She allows her dad to dictate her choice of boyfriend and to get away with threatening that boyfriend’s job.

Excuse me? Isn’t she supposed to be a lawyer specializing in labor issues for firefighters? Her boyfriend would have such a lawsuit that he could have brought against the father for threatening his livelihood over his dating the daughter. And she and her hotshot mother don’t even think of that angle? And when a more senior lawyer says some pretty disgusting sexist remarks to her at the office, she doesn’t think of smacking him down with the threat of a sexual harassment lawsuit? And when he repeats those remarks in front of the mother, the mother doesn’t enlighten him on the danger he’s putting the law firm in?

I just couldn’t buy much of anything in how these people behave. Finn goes from being a player to being the single most romantic book boyfriend ever created and she doesn’t want to use her law degree to fight for him? Instead she just cries and mopes. I lost all patience with her.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Finn and Rory meet and feel an instant connection. She is an attorney for the firefighter's union and her did is Finn's boss, the captain of the firehouse he works at. Rory has been an obedient daughter her whole life and her parents have plotted out her every move. Finn has a close family but his parents let him live his life. Neither one was looking for love or to settle down, but that's exactly what happens when they finally get to know each other. Rory works at her mother's law firm and it is constantly insinuated that she is getting preferential treatment. Her co-worker was obnoxious and should have been disciplined for some of his inappropriate comments and behavior. Finn knows his captain doesn't like him but doesn't know why. Rory does not know how to stand up to her parents but slowly comes to realize she needs to live her life for her, not them. Finn and Rory get backed into a corner by her father and Rory, in my opinion, took the coward's way out. Instead of communicating with Finn as to what was going on, she caves. I was astounded at how ridiculous her father acted. Their relationship was fast building and didn't slow down the whole book. Their road was bumpy but worth the ride. I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Another great book by the talented Kelly Elliott! Full of romance and characters that sweep you off your feet.

Can a sheltered young female lawyer find happiness with a hot, sexy fireman/player? Rory is a young lawyer with her mother's law firm. She's working hard to prove she isn't getting special treatment & is capable of handling the job. She's just been added to the team that helps defend the firefighters & their union. Her father is a Captain in charge of a firehouse. At a union meeting introducing her, she looks out over the crowd & sees "him" falling asleep while her father gives his speech. Later she decides to have a rare "girls night out" & sees "him" across the bar.

Finn is exhausted & can barely keep his eyes open. He really doesn't want to attend a mandatory union meeting. His best friends kept bumping his arm to wake him up. Then he catches "her" watching him with amusement in her eyes. The sparks fly & the die is cast. Neither of them realizes how this will change their lives.

I loved this romance! From the initial meeting to the end, I felt a connection with the characters. I liked the way the chemistry between Finn & Rory caused Finn to change his ways instantly. There were supporting characters that made me laugh, that I loved & that I intensely disliked. Flash added the comedy needed to give a release of tension & intensity in several of the relationships. Plus he created scenes that as a reader & dog lover, I instantly connected & related to & laughed at. The ending seemed a little off to me since it felt like one relationship was left hanging. I'm hoping that will be resolved in future stories in the series. I couldn't put this one down & I can't wait for the next one!

This is another great story by Kelly Elliott. Finn Ward is known as a player by his friends units he fall for the beautiful, smart, workaholic lawyer, Rory Adams. The down fall.... She's his captain's daughter and completely off limits. Fighting for Love was a sweet, fun, sexy story. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
