Kent was amazing. He was kind, gentle, funny and sweet. Perfect for Casey. And you could tell that he has loved her for years and denied it. Now though he is afraid. Since his horrible spiteful ex left him and what she said to him when she came back for a wedding he has felt he isn’t worthy of love or a relationship. He harbored guilt over Aiden. Guilt that he had a hard time letting go of.
Casey was fun, sweet and easygoing. Her and Kent and a fun relationship that spanned from babies to now. They both you can tell always had a thing for each other but denied it. Now she needs his help and he is not one to want to give it for she needs a fake boyfriend. When his ex is back and his mom is trying to fix him up he agrees and our fun begins.
Their time together is just fun. They get along so well and their ribbing of each other is good natured. And as they go out they start to realize their feelings. For Kent it confuses and scares him. For Casey she is afraid he won’t want what she does. Only they are both afraid. When they finally give in we see such a sweet moment after that you awww..than the wedding and ugh Kent’s insecurities take over and it is Casey’s brother who has him see straight. Now he does the most romantic thing and it has you swoon.
The story is sweet and fun. Just a feel good romance that has you smile the whole time and love the meddling moms and the grandma who is a hoot. The brothers who are so sweet and protective and Kent and Casey that are perfect for one another.
This book just might be my favourite friends to lovers story. Everything about it was perfect. From the way they denied that they have feelings for each other to the way they ended up together.
I love Casey and Kent. These two were funny, sweet and even though they started out as a pretend couple, the chemistry was very real. I love the insight from everyone, especially from the gramma.
"Caution is for the bomb squad. When you love someone, you go full speed ahead, enjoying every moment of not knowing what's around the corner."
I was heartbroken when he let his fears get to him and he broke off the whole thing. And the way he redeemed himself...OMG I never wanted to crawl in a book more and kiss the main character 😍
I can't wait to read about the next couple in the series..If this book is any indication it will be another AMAZING read👍

Casey runs a matchmaking service helping women find their Mr. Right. But Casey”s future husband leaves her at the alter. It is bad for her business Casey has to do something to keep her company as her investors and backers are threatening to back out of her company. Casey needs a fake boyfriend/ but she doesn’t want to lie. She thinks her brother’s best friend Kent and colleague firefighter is ideal for the job. Especially after he rescued Casey from a tree, hey have always been friends and Kent came to her rescue several times. Kent was involved in a rescue where his colleague died and he was badly burnt. Casey had been a faithful friend helping him fight to recover especially after his girlfriend dumped him.Casey cares for Kent and wants to protect him and Kent really cares about Casey and he worries about her with all she has been through When Casey asks Kent to be her pretend boyfriend he initially declines. But then his matchmaking mother wants to find a date for Kent for his cousin’s wedding and Kent says he has a date - Casey. As Kent starts out as Casey’s fake boyfriend they find they are attracted to each other but both resist it as they both had been badly hurt before. Kent’s mom kept setting him up with single women he didn’t want. Casey’s ex fiance was Dominic and they had been friends before they started dating. Ken’t ex girlfriend is coming back to town and going to his cousin’s wedding. The last both Casey and Kent want is a relationship. Casey had always been off limits as Casey was his best friend's sister.
This was a great story. I loved the plot and the pace. I laughed out loud while reading. This was a fun quick read. I loved how Casey and Kent were such caring friends at first. I didn’t want to put this down. This had no problem keeping my attention. I choked up at times. I would have liked more background on both Casey and Kent. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and i highly recommend.
I loved this book! Casey and Kent made for a great HEA! Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Wedding Date Rescue is a funny book about finding love in the one person that is off limits, your brother's best friend! I loved every minute of this book and look forward to seeing more by Sonya Weiss.
Wedding Date Rescue by Sonya Weiss is a sweet and romance. This is Kent Wakefield and Casey Bradford's story.
Casey was left her at the altar right before her wedding. She was left to deal with it all. This was not only an emotional situation but it is also putting her business in jeopardy. Casey needs to come up with a plan to save her business. That is how Kent comes in. He is Casey's brother's best friend. She asks him to be her fake boyfriend. Kent flat out refuses at first then he has his own situation so he agrees.
At time the Casey and Kent drive you crazy but you can understand why they act the way they do. A clean and sweet romance that is not lacking in chemistry. Will these two take a chance on true love?

Casey has a lot on her plate since being left at the altar. It’s hard to run a matchmaking business when you can’t even get your own happily ever after. In order to keep her dream alive, she needs to find a guy who will fake a relationship with her. Kent is her brother’s best friend and the perfect candidate for the job. He’s a firefighter who got seriously injured doing his job and his ex left him because of it. He’s not looking for anything serious. When sparks fly between them that neither of them want to admit is there, can they remember this is pretend?
Wedding Date Rescue is such a cute sweet story. I really enjoyed the story and was unable to put it down. I love the brother’s best friend trope and thought this one was done really well. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
A super sweet romance, I was definitely drawn into the small town world and rooting for the Kent and Casey to get together for real, the entire time! And while I felt like things were wrapped up a little too neatly and hastily, I still love a happy ending. Furthermore, I adored the supporting cast from the parents to Casey's hilarious and straight talking grandmother to all of Casey's brothers. Definitely looking forward to more books in the Fire and Sparks series, especially as I can't wait to see what results between Casey's brother, Lincoln and her best friend, Josie.
This was a great friends to lovers read. I love how Sonya Weiss writes this story to where these two have been the best thing for each other all along and neither one of them realized it until now. Kent is a firefighter and has his won battles he is fighting. When Kent needs a date for his cousins wedding, he pops off to his meddling mom that he already has one without even thinking. What is he going to do now?
Casey is needing to save her business after being left at the alter by her fiance, but who is someone that she can trust and will understand where she is coming from? When Kent and Casey finally get together, the sparks begin to immediately fly and with just one kiss, Casey knows that she is done for. Is she really falling for her brother's best friend?
This was a great story about how sometimes the best things are not very far from us, we only have to open our eyes and be accepting. I thought Sonya Weiss did a good job with this friends to lovers romance. Humor, romance and sparks! What else could you want?
Wedding Date Rescue is a sweet book with a cast of interesting characters. I enjoyed the playfulness between Kent and Casey. The background characters were interesting and I could definitely see that this could evolve into a fun series. I especially liked the meddlesome, matchmaking moms.
What mostly didn’t work for me was the actual construction of the novel. Wedding Date Rescue began as the fake romance trope but moved into the friends to lovers trope by throwing out scenes from Kent’s and Casey’s connected past. Personally I would have loved to have read those scenes nearer to the beginning, rather than the afterthought they seemed to be, so that I could see and enjoy the huge connection between Kent and Casey rather than presume that he’s always been her brothers’ friend rather than hers as well. As it was, at the beginning they just didn’t seem as connected as they could have and should have been, especially in light of the scenes from their youth that appeared later.
Also, one of those scenes, a reminiscence about a brownie baking disaster that occurred when they were teenagers where Kent proved himself to be a good guy by eating the burned brownies, popped up right in the middle of Kent and Casey’s kiss. What? No! Never kissus interruptus! You have your reader in the palm of your hand, waiting for that kiss!
If you can look past the construction issues, which (probably won’t) may not even bother the typical reader, and you’re a fan of these romance tropes, I think you’ll discover that Wedding Date Rescue is a nice romantic diversion with some funny and sweet moments.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wedding Day Rescue is a very well written romance. The book is a good clean read. I loved the characters.
While I suspected this was going to be a fairly wholesome story, I totally forgot there was a huge chance this would be unbelievably hokey. I mean, look at the cover and read the summary. It totally was what I suspected. I put it down tons of times and walked away to find other reads because it was so difficult to get drawn into this book. It just didn't feel real. Of course we know it's fiction, but I don't want it to feel that way. I want to get so swept away by the emotions that it becomes real to me. That the actions get lodged in my brain and the romance lodged in my heart. I know, it's too much to ask of a lot of books.
It's unbelievable that Casey would get the heavy suggestion she'd need to fake a relationship in order to maintain the interest of a business investor for her matchmaking business because she was ditched on her wedding day and that's bad romance juju. That said, it's crazy she believes she needs to go through with it. Therefore, she and her brother's bff Kent -- very dreamy and hunky, but emotionally semi-fragile from a fire that left his associate dead and himself recovering from fire injuries plus breakup with b**tchy ex-girlfriend -- agree to fake it. Even the small town setting seemed fake. Ultimately, the friends realize they are the perfect love match and the HEA comes to a picture perfect cinematic close.
Though, the book got a bit better after the 50% mark, I'm still giving 1.5 stars.
weet and fun fake relationship / friends-to-lovers story! Kent and Casey are the perfect couple, even if they didn't realize themselves. They've known each other their entire lives, but as the little sister of his best friend, she has always been off limits to him. But with Casey's matchmaking business in danger of closing its doors after her failed relationship, and Kent's ex attending his cousin's wedding, they are both in need of a significant other. They may be fake dating, but they both have more than friendly feelings for each other they try to fight. While somewhat short in length, I loved the way their relationship evolved as they both discover the ways they've both been there for each other as only someone in love could be. Looking forward to the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.
Friends to lovers is one of my favorite kinds of stories. I especially love when it's mixed with a fake relationship.
Kent hasn't had a relationship since his last girlfriend left him because he was injured in a fire. He's happy with the way things are, if only his family would stop trying to set him up with dates all the time. Casey runs a matchmaking business so when her fiancee leaves her at the alter, her business starts to falter and her investors are concerned. One suggests a fake relationship to build confidence back up for the investors and potential clients go elsewhere. Kent and Casey have been friends for their entire lives. Who better to fake a relationship with than your friend who also isn't looking for a relationship?
The lifelong friendship between Kent and Casey led to the best banter. These two know each other so well but the chemistry they have once they start fake dating was off the charts. This was an incredibly sweet and quick story to read. I loved all of the side characters that were introduced and can't wait to see how Lincoln and Josie's story plays out.

Wedding Date Rescue is the first sweet romance in the Fire and Sparks series written by author Sonya Weiss. Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Bliss Publishing for the advance copy.
Friends to lover stories are always my cup of tea and this is one that fits that category for me. Casey is a professional matchmaker who was left at the alter recently . Due to this, Her business is declining and her investors are worried. So now some people are suggesting she get someone to play her new boyfriend-which he would be just for show- so her investors don’t lose faith. Casey thinks about it and finds that will have to do and thinks Kent, her friend who is really a relationship-phobe is just the guy for the job. At first he wanted nothing to do with her offer but when his ex GF comes back into the picture and his mother trying to set him up with every woman who was single, well Casey’s offer was mighty promising so he decides the fake relationship with Casey could work between them.
Both Casey and Kent are likeable characters, people you would want to be friends with. They had this easy connection with one another. It was easy to watch what fake turn into a real relationship .
I think I needed to know, or at least some sort of little more background of what caused the previous boyfriend to leave Casey at the alter. I don’t think there was closure there. There was nothing about their relationship. Dominic was a friend before they started dating, but we never find out how they got together or why they didn’t work out. Same goes for Kent- We find out Kent had been in an accident while working as a firefighter and the fallout included one of his friends dying and his girlfriend dumping him. But we didn’t get much information on why his girlfriend did what she did and dump him or what kind of injuries did he have. Those things would have enhanced the story.
In the end, this was a light and sweet friends to lovers story.
My rating: 4.2 stars ****

What happens when friendship and romance collide? Sparks fly. With Wedding Date Rescue, I knew what I was in for. Romance, a little light humor and an irresistible time. I went in with the mind set that it would be a cute read and came out adoring Kent and Casey from beginning to end. Never underestimate the power of the heart. Sonya Weiss grabbed hold of my heart and was reluctant to set it free.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
I've never read Sonya Weiss before, but believe me when I say this won't be my last book by her. The story was excellent and the characters were enjoyable. Tried and true storyline (yes, I admit, I'm a sucker for this type). Can't wait for the next book by Ms Weiss. Good job!
Casey Bradford runs a matchmaking service, helping women find their Mr Right but when her husband to be deserts her at the altar, it has a negative impact on her business, too! When her investors and backers are threatening to pull their money, Casey needs to take decisive action to keep her company. When it is suggested she get herself a fake boyfriend, she initially has no intentions of doing so, she can't lie! However, the more she thinks about it, the more her brother's friend and colleague, firefighter Kent Wakefield seems ideal, especially after he has to rescue her from a tree! He's the person who came to her rescue so many times in the past and they've always been friends.
Kent was involved in a tragic rescue in which his colleague died and he was badly injured. That's when Casey proved a staunch friend, helping him fight to recover, despite his then girlfriend cruelly abandoning him. When Casey asks him to be her fake boyfriend he immediately says no way. However, his matchmaking mother's antics corner him endeavouring to find him a date for his cousin's wedding, he panics and claims that he already has one Casey! As the two start out on their fake relationship they'll discover that their friendship and attraction are going to be difficult to resist but both are reticent to give in to their feelings because of past hurts and trying to protect each other. Can love help them find a way to their happy ever after or will it all remain fake, after all?
This is a truly blissful friends to lovers romance. It has a great cast of characters - from two matchmaking mothers to protective brothers, two people who have been let down by the people who are supposed to love them and neither initially realising why they always turn to each other at times of trouble. It is a story of a community where everyone knows everyone else's business, love that everyone else acknowledges but the two concerned and with plenty of laugh out loud moments, great banter and obstacles that make the reader ponder on how things could possibly work out. A great read which I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into - I can't wait to read more in this series!
Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.
“To love someone that you’ve been friends with for so long is the best kind of love.”
Friends-to-lovers can be a truly lovely genre—there's an inherent connection, a sweetness that pre-exists that makes them extra-specially romantic.
And that's the case here, with Sonya Weiss' Wedding Date Rescue. A super quick, clean and cute read, it's a solid bet for when you want an escape, some swoons and a reason to smile.
While it's not perfect—there were times I felt like something was missing, like the plot skipped, like set-up was a little flimsy—it has both a small-town charm *and* a good foundation for this new series. I am, in fact, quite looking forward to reading more about Casey's brothers, especially if it means we get a little more time with her and Kent.
Because, yeah, while Wedding Date Rescue isn't the most amazing book I've ever read, it's engaging and playful, fluffy and fun, and definitely sweet and romantic.
He settled his hand over her heart. “I want to protect this. I’ll always want to protect this.”
