I'll be shelving this book for now and hoping to come back to it in the future.
Thank you for the opportunity to read. Hoping to be at a better place to read this one.
DNF this one. It sounded good, but then, I struggled with it. a lot
Loved this book! Nina Croft is such an entertaining author- her characters are unique but also real. This story of a cop & a reformed jewel thief was crafted just perfectly. Falling for the Bad Girl is the first book in the Cutting Loose series & I can't wait for the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I also left a review on bn.com (DaneWeimMama) & at goodreads- https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34224341-falling-for-the-bad-girl?from_search=true
I love a refreshing change of pace, and this book certainly delivered. I have plenty of bad boys in my reading repertoire, so the blurb to this book immediately hooked because what’s that? No bad boy but a bad girl instead? Bring it on, I say!
Regan Malloy is a former bad girl that’s looking for a change. Just out of prison for a three year sentence on a crime she may have committed, but not entirely guilty of, she’s looking to turn the page on her life of crime. With a family of criminals, it won’t be easy, but she’s determined. There’s just one inconvenient thorn in her plans, the super sexy detective that was responsible for her conviction and the undercurrent of lust that still crackles between them.
Detective Sergeant Nathan Carter has always done the right thing. His father was an officer of the law and now he’s following in his footsteps with his recent promotion. A bad girl just out of prison for stealing diamonds is the last thing he needs, but he just can’t seem to stay away.
This was the first book in a series that I’m already hooked on. I loved all the secondary characters we meet in this story in the form of Regan’s best friends and former cell mates. I already can’t wait for their story. As for Regan and Nathan? I loved these two together. There’s a little bit of angst to spice things up since their relationship is trouble. Nathan is a cop and she’s a criminal. He’ll always doubt her dedication to stay on the right side of the law, and she’ll never feel good enough.
Nina Croft delivers a sexy and entertaining read that’s a perfect blend of humor and steam with fantastic characters and a great story to boot! I seriously enjoyed it.

This fantastic story features Detective Sergeant Nate Carter and ex-con Regan Malloy. After all they've been through you would think the intense attraction they felt for each other would have died after three years but no. It would only get more difficult.
This is a fantastic story line with great, well developed characters. A heartfelt romance born out of a most difficult situation for both of them. There were very strong emotions of being dealt with, such as moral rights and wrongs, family, loyalty and love. A much deeper story than I was expecting. Amazing! I look forward to other books in this series.
Falling for the Bad Girl marks my first time reading a book by Nina Croft. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the book takes place in England.
Immediately, I was intrigued by the characters of Regan Malloy and Detective Sergeant Nathan Carter. These two have a history going back three years, to when Nate arrested Regan and helped to send her to prison. For some inexplicable reason, these two are drawn to each other.
The day of Regan’s release from prison, the two meet up in a bar. This isn’t a planned meeting, it just happens. Regan and Nate agree to one night, to get each other out of their system. Only they discover one night isn’t enough. The two embark on a secret sex only relationship with an expiration date. They both know that a true relationship with each other is out of the question. Nate is from a cop family and Regan’s entire family is known to be successful thieves. They are truly a recipe for disaster, but surprisingly, they work.
I won’t deny that at times, I questioned the actions of both Regan and Nate. There were definitely times I questioned if their feelings were true. But in the end, readers are treated to what these two will really do for each other and for love.
While I liked Regan and Nate, I loved several of the secondary characters. Regan’s older brother is interesting, with his anti-cop mentality and charm to spare. Regan’s roommates, Summer and Darcy, whom she met in prison, added to this story as well. Summer’s character seems to have secrets just waiting to be revealed. Darcy appears to be preparing to make waves and connect with a family member. Without question, I’m looking forward to having her story told.
I received an ARC from the publisher and I am voluntarily writing my review.
What a read. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. After I read the synopsis I thought it would be just an ok read. Boy was I wrong. I was glued to my kindle, devouring the book.
This book has some steam. Boy does it. I was even reading it at work, which I didn't want to do, because of the steamy scenes. I had to skim over them, but will re-read as soon as I get home.
Anyway, Nate and Regan's chemistry sizzles. I think my kindle started shooting sparks. A romance between a detective an ex con is not something I've ever read. I was very intrigued as soon as I started reading.
For me, this was a refreshing read. I did guess the ending though. And, yes, we've read books where the h and the H wanted to sleep with each other until their attraction dies down, but hown do you make it work between a cop and an ex con? It's a very entertaining journey.
A hot and short read that I recommend.
I would have liked the epilogue to be longer, though.
Reagan is out of prison after serving a few years for theft. Nathan, the cop that put here there, is tehre the day she is released. Despite being hot, she knows he's no good. Nathan can't believe how attracted he is to Reagan and keeps an eye out for her to see if she'll give up the diamonds she stole. Much to everyone's surprise, Reagan starts a relationship with Nathan. Good read.
Falling for the Bad Girl is an opposites-attract love story. Regan comes from a family of thieves, Nathan is not only a second generation police detective, but he is the one who put Regan behind bars. By rights they shouldn’t feel any attraction, though three years of fantasizing over each other shows how chemistry doesn’t always work as one wants.
Our story starts the day Regan comes out of prison a new woman set on never, ever having to step into that place again. While she gets on with her plans, Nathan is not in a great place. His father is gravely ill and he doesn’t have much time left, and he’s obsessed with a now ex-con… the fact that he follows her to the hotel where she’s spending her first night as a free woman should be a wake-up call for him… Luckily for us, it isn’t.
Regan can’t believe her eyes when the man she’s been crushing on despite her best efforts shows up at her hotel. She should hate his guts, and she does as he is the one who put her behind bars, but one night to live the dream can’t harm anyone, can it?
What begins as a night for Nathan and Regan to get their fantasies out of their systems, turns into a month of hot, steamy, crazy-monkey sex. When that month is over, they will each go their own ways, as a relationship between them has no chance in hell of ever succeeding, right?
I really liked Regan, while she was perceived as a bad girl, once we get to know her we realize not everything is as it seems. She was loyal, sweet, caring and still tough. Nathan was a yummy policeman in jeans and stubble, with a filthy mouth and some serious skills. He was bossy and sexy, and I wouldn’t mind getting frisked by him.
“Regan Malloy, I want to screw you until you can’t walk, until my dick is so sore I don’t even want to think about sex, and then I want to screw you some more.”
I loved Nathan and Regan’s interaction and how their “relationship” and their feelings for each other developed. That’s not to say there weren’t a time or two where I wanted to hit one, the other or both of them on the back of the head when they’d refuse to communicate.
Falling for the Bad Girl was a fun, light and seriously sexy story I enjoyed immensely and I can’t wait to get the stories for Regan’s roommates and one or two of her brothers’ wouldn’t be unwelcome either.

I'm feeling a little conflicted about my thought for the book.
On one hand, I did enjoy the book. But I wanted to see something more between the two main characters. Don't get me wrong, i liked them but I didn't love them though. I felt the attraction between the two from the very start bit that was it. I wanted to see something more between the two and that didn't happen til the end of the book.
Th way I was hoping for the plot to go didn't. I was expecting to see something happen in regards to her past and while something did happen it was kind of a let down. I was expecting more out of that.
If you like books where the H and h don't like each other at first than this book is the way to go. I didn't hate it or love it, but maybe it's just the right book for you.
4 1/2 STARS!
Loved this book! There was just something about the simple, raw connection between these two characters that really got to me. He was lonely and needing comfort, she was distancing herself from those she loved most and hanging adrift ... but together they felt right. It's majorly steamy, fun with a side of sass, and a pleasure to read!
Regan Malloy grew up in a family where cracking safes and picking locks was just something you learned. She didn't set out to live the life that her family did, but when faced with a friend in need, she agrees to do just one job .. and gets caught. Now freshly out of prison, she is trying to start over and get her life on track for the future that she wants ... if only she didn't keep lusting after the detective that put her away!
Detective Nathan Carter didn't forget Regan after she was locked up ... in fact, she was a regular visitor to his nightly fantasies! His life is adrift right now, and he finds himself seeking her out ... outside the prison when she's released, in hotel bars, in her bed. They agree to just get each other out of their systems ... sexy only ... but as they spend more and more time together, they actually like each other. It's crazy! The cop and the bad girl ... it can't possibly work ... can it?
Nate is a detective who knows that last person he should be attracted to is Regan, who is an ex-con whom he himself had locked up for 3 years, but he can not forget about her. Regan also knows they should not be together, her family is made up of crimibals, and her best friends ex-cons, however they decide to get each other out of system...And love begins
Having read the first one in this series I feel as if I know this security team a bit. I have also became a bit attached to the characters so when I seen I could become more knowledgeable and personal with another one on here ,swooped in for a scrumptious ride. Elizabeth has a father that will do most anything for her that also includes still watching out for her. Diving in will tell why with Tan being the one whom is soon in her path and by her side. The banter between these two is quite interesting with I do say she is a bit odd to me but part of her character. this story deals with intense drama that will have you also racing with them trying to capture and put to rest the extreme. The relationship that builds in also the yummy delight in the reading with you hoping for Tan. I would take him watching out for me any day. The pace will keep you being pulled by the nose until you know all the answers with some rewards.
Loved this book! The way they acted with each other, it was funny but sexy too at the same time. Fab story!

I really enjoyed Falling for the Bad Girl.
From the first few pages I knew this was going to be a great read. It was one of those books you didn't want to put down.
The writing is well done, the storyline held my interest all throughout the book, the characters Regan & Nathan were likable, entertaining and the chemistry between was smoking!
Falling for the Bad Girl is a great start to the Cutting Loose series, and I can't wait for the next book to be released.

*A big thank you to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.*
Hello,
Unfortunately, I have chosen to stop at 50%. I wanted to like this book, and I liked the premise...but I am frustrated with both characters...for them to decide that they want to go past the month, but still never even really talk about their past, her family, or the obvious issues that they will face started to really bother me and I am not really able to see this as a HEA resolution.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this title.

Every time I get my hands on a copy of one of this authors books, I know I'm in for a great read.
Nathan a cop who see's things as black and white or on the right side of the law or not is having trouble keeping his way of thinking. He helped put Regan in jail. After all she was guilty. Now she is out of prison and he finds himself obsessed with the woman.
When he trial ended and she was sentenced to prison, the look on Nathan's face had her using him as her own personal fantasy while locked up. How sick is that? Now out of prison and determined to stay out of trouble and get on with her life, Nathan is making himself known and Regan is going to take a chance and make her fantasy a reality.
She comes from a family of crimals and he comes from a family of law men. Can these two make it work? Well you have to read the book and enjoy the journey of two people who in reality should not work but let's face it.....life is not what you think it should be. Opposites attract and all. I loved the characters, their families and the moment when both characters realize that even with everything in their ways....love wins!
I love a story about a bad boy getting with the good girl so when I read the blurb for Falling for the Bad Girl, I really liked the idea of that role reversal. Shout out to Nina Croft for writing some pretty hot instant attraction and characters that aren’t perfect, which is what really stood out for me.
You can’t get more opposite than a cop and an ex-con. Meet Nathan and Regan. Nathan first laid eyes on Regan when he was working a case that ended with her arrested and then behind bars for three years. Three years that left him obsessed with a girl that was nothing but bad news and zero chance of anything happening between them.
Regan gave up three years of her life for a mistake, a mistake done for all the right reasons but still against the law. She is determined to leave that in the past and forge a new start. She doesn’t plan to ever cross paths with the man she should hate but secretly can’t stop thinking about. But there wouldn’t be a story if things worked out quiet like they expected and on her first day out, Regan and Nate find themselves giving in to their lust for each other.
This starts off as a pretty standard friends with benefits type deal. Regan knows that she can never have something real with Nate. Her family has an extensive criminal history and she feels that her past would always hang over her head. Nate knows that they are just too different. Different personalities and different upbringings have them at polar opposites. Where he sees black and white, she sees shades of gray. Thinking that they are too different but still drawn to each other like moths to a flame, they agree to hook up but keep their lives completely separate.
It was interesting to see these two go from being strictly in a sexual relationship to opening up to each other on a deeper level. Regan sharing her dream of going independent and having her own business and Nathan sharing his grief over his father, it all added layers to their relationship that they didn’t plan on. I especially loved the scenes with Regan’s family. They were so foreign to Nate but he was able to appreciate their love for each other and it helped soften him. For his love of Regan, Nate was able to change his views – he became more flexible and less rigid.
I enjoyed this one, it was a quick easy read, very low on drama and has some angst but was a sweet HEA. I did feel that their FB relationship started super fast. And their first physical encounter read a little too cold and calculated that it throw me off for a bit. It felt very wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am and that’s not really my style. Don’t get me wrong it was hot and kind of kinky (in a good way!) but I didn’t feel that instant emotional connection from either one of the MCs. I don’t think this will bother most because Nate and Regan both go in with their eyes wide open. They both literally just want to get off and enjoy their physical relationship. But for me personally, I needed that something extra, a hint that this wasn’t just sex for the sex. Like I said, they agree to have this sex only relationship and eventually they do start to develop deeper feelings for each other but it’s definitely a slow burn getting to the emotional side of their relationship.
Safety: Nathan is 30, Regan is 25. There is no Cheating and both remained celibate since last seeing each other. (Nathan by choice and Regan – well she was in jail for three years so . . . yeah). There is slight OM drama when Regan’s ex comes back (Spoiler: she does allow him to kiss her when she fights with Nate. She wants to see if there is any old feelings lingering over him (which there aren’t) and Nate sees it.) They talk about it and it doesn’t become a huge issue. This does end with a HEA (they get married) and has a 3 months down the road epilogue.
Falling for the Bad Girl is the first in a brand new Cutting Loose Series by Nina Croft. For the most part I found this to be a straightforward romance with family and career hindrances Both Nate and Regan are the second generation to follow in the family footsteps. Regan sees the error of her ways choosing not to live a life outside of the law after a three-year prison stay. I liked this woman, easily seeing how Nate, a straight and honest detective, could be drawn to her. I could also see how Regan could be drawn to the “John Wayne type” British police officer. What I couldn’t see was how they could work out their differences so the ending was a surprise for me. Thinking back now it shouldn’t have been.
Regan and Nate had a tremendous physical relationship. The steamy and frequent scenes stole the story-line even when family and friends appear in the story. This seems to be a hotter book than what I remember from other Nina Croft books. It did not take away from the story but added emphasis to the fact that their whole relationship was built on lust.
My only hard to believe moments were about Regan’s family. I just couldn’t get on board with the Malloys being criminal but good hearted. I rather liked the fact that Nate would arrest them if they were caught breaking the law which they admittedly did in their careers of choice. Still I adored Regan and Nate, just not her family. This shouldn’t be an issue in the following books concerning her room-mates since they do not seem to have families as unique as Regan’s. Now I’m looking forward to the next story in the series. Will it be Darcy’s or Summer’s?
