Loved this book!! A contemporary romance that shows some risks are worth taking.
As the blurb states, Detective Nate Carter put Regan Malloy away for a diamond theft. The merchandise has never been recovered. During the trial, Regan and Nate felt an attraction that went beyond ordinary. After Regan serves three years in prison, Nate and she hook up. After one night of unbridled sex, they know it can't be just the one time, so they embark on an adventure of no strings sex for one month. Both think that should be enough to drive the other from their system. But as the month progresses, uneasiness creeps in and neither wants to think of the end approaching!
Believing any type of relationship just would not work, neither know how to contain their feelings. Nate is a detective and Regan comes from a family of known thieves. That's a recipe for disaster. Even since Regan has gone clean and has opened her own business of cracking safes and software-but for the good guys, she still feels putting the cops anywhere close to her family spells trouble with a capital T! But she also knows that what is developing with Nate is quickly becoming something she doesn't want to give up. She just can't. But how can they make it work?? Nate feels the same way. He knows he's breaking all kinds of rules and his work partner has cautioned him. He wants him to be smart. But he can't see letting Regan go any more than she can him.
This story was a good mix of steam and sweet. I liked both Regan and Nate. Their situation is a complex one not unlike real life. I think that's why it was easy to read and to recognize their struggles. Nina Croft does a great job of making us feel we are actually in the story with clear but not overly wordy details. Everybody is believable and their actions are acceptable. I enjoyed the differences in the families they came from and the dynamics of how they sculpted the couple into who they are now.
Definitely a page turner, grab this one and prepare to settle in with Falling For the Bad Girl. The journey is fast and oh so intriguing.

If you love a book with a lot of erotic sex, then this is the book you've been waiting for.
For a detective, Nate is pretty naughty. No wonder Regan can't get enough of him. A month of sex, amazing sex. but just sex. That was the deal.
Regan is trying to prove that she is going to stay straight. It was only one time, and for what she thought was a good cause. But one that put her in prison. Now everyone believes her but the one person who matters. Nate has a lot going on in his life. A lot to worry about. But Regan is worth it, problem is by the time he figures that out it might be too late.
4.5 - "You're the enemy. You always will be." Stars!
Nina Croft begins her new Cutting Loose Series in stellar style with Falling for the Bad Girl, a copper and an ex-con were never hotter together.

This story hits the ground running and doesn’t really stop until the end. Regan Malloy has just been released from prison after three years inside for a crime she did commit albeit under false pretenses. Who should be part of her welcoming party when she steps outside the gates, none other than her natural enemy Detective Sergeant Nathan Carter, the officer who put her away in the first place.
"You’re always going to think the worst of me. Always going to believe I’m not good enough…"
I think the thing that made this book one of the best Brazen titles I have read by this author is the fact that although they are burning up the sheets pretty much from the get-go, both of them have really good back stories, it gave added depth to the instant connection between them, and in the latter stages for the reasoning as to why things went the way they did.
His body was telling him once was not enough. While his mind was telling him that no amount would be enough, and he should run the hell away from her before he got in any deeper.
Regan’s two friends and also ex-jailbirds; Summer and Darcy both look promising too with the glimpses you are given to them while her story is playing out and I look forward to reading their books.
ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.
I had mix feeling after reading Falling for the Bad Girl. Overall, it was a good storyline with interesting characters but it was a tad too quick so it lacked the emotional punch. Nathan is the cop who arrested Regan three years ago, for a diamond heist she was involved in. Before going to jail they had a moment in the court room that neither could forget about. Once she’s out that moments sparked an attraction that has been simmering for all those years. Regan is on the straight and narrow, she is ready to get her life together and forget all about the mistakes she’s made in her past. Regan and Nathan hook up her first night out of jail and that is the begin of their secret affair. The cop and the convict! This novel while very interesting and fun to read it lacked the emotion connection for me. A good story but I have to give it 3.5 stars.
4.5 "he was the cop who had put her away." Stars
I love it when a Nina Croft Brazen lands on the kindle. You just know what you're getting: an entertaining story with great couple who have a scorching chemistry and don't scrimp on the sexy. Plus 90% of the time they're set in the UK. And Falling for the Bad Girl has all the above covered.
"We're from opposite poles of the universe, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have sex. Lots and lots of sex."
Having been found guilty of theft, Regan Malloy has spent three years at Her Majesty's pleasure, wiling away her time fantasising about the detective who headed up the case against her, Nathan Carter, who has also spent many a time indulging in similar thoughts. So when she's released, it doesn't take a detective to work out what these two are going to get up to.
"I want to screw you until you can’t walk, until my dick is so sore I don’t even want to think about sex, and then I want to screw you some more. And if we do it enough, we’ll both get this inconvenient attraction out of our systems."
What I love about Nina is how she takes roles and reverses them, throwing gender stereotype out of the window to a degree, yet still bringing you a man who is just the right balance of alpha and gent, and lady who keeps him on his toes with her sass. And Nate and Regan tick those boxes: there's not dull moment to be found as they scratch their very mutual itch and with a good dose of feeling added into the mix, I loved them together.
"He’ll be running the family silver through the office database tomorrow."
Nina Croft has written what I think is her best Brazen to date, funny, heartfelt and passionate, if you're looking for a sizzler to spend the evening with, this is one to do so with. And I'm looking forward to seeing what she has planned for Regan's former cellmates, Summer and Darcy.
What’s it About? Falling for the Bad Girl sounded too delicious to pass up. So the set up is that jewel thief Regan Malloy has just been released from prison and wants to start her life over on a good note except that detective Nathan Carter has gone from starring in her fantasies to rocking her world the first night she’s free. He’s the detective that sent her to prison in the first place and while Regan should hate him, she can’t. Nate should stay away from her because technically they’re enemies right?
Describe the hero in five words: Dedicated. Stubborn. Conflicted. Charming. Caring.
Did you like him? Yes. He can arrest me anytime
Why? Nate spent a good amount of time feeling like he was in the wrong for being attracted to Regan and to me that made him much more interesting. He was a good guy who had moments of “Really dude? You’re going to go there?” Nate wasn’t an over the top alpha male with a gun and cuffs, he was charismatic, sensible (Most of the time), and had a hidden sense of humor I enjoyed. I developed a crush on him myself so yeah, cuff me please!!!
Describe the heroine in five words: Optimistic. Loyal. Funny. Intelligent. Snarky.
Did you like her? Yes.
Why? I was curious to see how Nina Croft would make Regan seem like a viable “heroine” when she literally just got out of prison for stealing diamonds. From the first scene Regan was lively, engaging, and oh so ready to take on the world just so she could have a chance to stand on her own two feet the legal way. I really loved her will to survive and build a new life for herself all while maintaining her loyalty to her friends and her criminally active family. It wasn’t easy and while that conflict wasn’t totally solved by the end of the book, Regan made it seem like she was well on her way to finding a healthy compromise.
How convincing were the main characters as a couple? Falling for the Bad Girl was easily one of the hottest Brazen books I’ve read in a while! The chemistry between Nate and Regan started “off page” way before the book actually starts but it picks up in an explosive way on the day Regan gets out of prison. Croft made it seem so natural for these two to burn up the sheets with one another so quickly that it took me awhile to realize Nate and Regan were beginning to bond in a more permanent way. They were such a good match and I loved them together.
Is there a “Scooby Gang” worth mentioning? Regan had cellmates while she was in prison. Summer and Darcy helped her adjust to being free and while they didn’t play a major role in the story I’m super curious about them. Regan also comes from a criminal family and while they don’t seem to want to change their ways, they were a delight and more normal than I thought they would be.
How “Lost” did you get in the story? Falling for the Bad Girl was a hot and heavy as the blurb promised and then some! As hot as Nate and Regan were, I was seriously interested in how Nina Croft was going to resolve both characters’ inner conflicts and the bigger one: How would a romance with a detective and an ex-con with a criminal family end happily? I couldn’t put this book down! It was hot and fun and Nate and Regan were an irresistible couple.
Click It or Skip It? Click it! Falling for the Bad Girl made my day with this particular take on the opposites attract trope.
Falling for the Bad Girl is a compelling story of a woman striving for redemption when her past and the bad choices made in youth, rare their ugly heads and threaten the new life she is trying to create.
Nathan is a by-the-book cop, with high morals and a thriving libido too. Crossing paths after many years with his ultimate fantasy, their taboo attraction rides hard and fast and needs only enough time to run due course to extinguish its combustible heat. Well doesn’t it?
A gripping story of crime, ethics and undeniable lust, with a powerful message that about the mistakes that build the person we eventually become.
We've been conditioned to see the world in a black or white format, but in truth we are surrounded by many shades of gray. Regan learned that lesson from the school of hard knocks. She lead with her heart, instead of her mind and ended up getting burned. Now seeking to redeem herself, she plans to start anew. With all the drama from her past she knows that will be hard to do. When her past ends of rearing it's head in the form of a sexy fantasy, will she risk more than her freedom this time and give her heart completely? A by the book cop, Nate is a man at a crossroads. The only family he has left is quickly slipping away. The job he's devoted most of his life to is getting harder everyday. When his fantasy women unwittingly walks back into his life, he just may be willing to risk it all. Could a wayward ex-con be the woman meant to be his Ms. Right? Falling for the Bad Girl is sensuous, moving and full of wise words and bad choices. Ms. Croft manages to create a sexy story with a powerful message. People are more than labels. We all make mistakes, it's the lesson we learn that make us the people we are.
regan malloy has done hard time, three years of it to be exact. and the man who ensured she was locked up, he hasn't stopped thinking of her in all that time. nathan carter knows he's losing his mind when he shows up outside the prison on the day she is released. and following her and her friends that first day out is a bit beyond the pale. and then meeting up with her at the bar is the height of insanity.
and he swears it will only happen one time, one night, just to get this insane attraction that has been driving him crazy for three years. that regan feels the same way is incomprehensible. but she does. she felt the pull back when he was working to get her behind bars, even though at the time she wasn't sure that he felt anything for her. and now that she's a free woman, intent on staying on the straight and narrow, feeling the way she does about nate is a complication she doesn't need.
her family are known con artists, thieves, tricksters, and not only is nate a cop, he comes from a long line of cops. their worlds couldn't be more different. but when one night segues into two, and then a third, and then instead of one night they decide to give themselves a month. a month of being together and not mixing in each other's worlds.
as if that wasn't an impossible task. because nate and regan are perfectly matched. and if it weren't for his profession and her family, maybe they could work things out. but falling for the bad girl is a stupid thing for a cop to do, especially one up for promotion. and even if she's only a minor league bad girl, more of a robin hood than a bonnie parker, she still has all that baggage. she still belongs to a family of criminals. but when they don't think about that, and are simply together, the way their relationship deepens and grows is really wonderful to read. they talk about their lives, their dreams, they open up to one another in a way that feels so real and so romantic.
but how do they get from being a couple in their bubble to one that can make it in the real world? what sacrifices are they prepared to make for one another. are either of them ready to trust that this uncontrollable passion that they feel is actually love? getting those answers is so worth it. spending time with nate and regan put a smile on my face. their story was emotionally satisfying, deeply romantic, and incredibly sexy. what more could a girl ask for?
This book was so damn good and so not what I expected, it was way better. You can never be disappointed with a Nina Croft book and with this series kick starter, proves why.
I adored the premise of the heroine being the reformed bad girl. In the sea of bad boys, it was refreshing to read. Throw in a hunky hero who just can’t stay away and you had me glued to the pages.
Not only was this book hot, really hot, it was fun and had all the feels, but it also had a storyline that you can sink into and get lost in for a while.
Whether it be the scorching sex, bonds of friendship, the accidental meeting of Regan’s family (holy smokes, even I felt the embarrassing burn) or the heartfelt moments between Nathan and his father, there is something for every romance reader in this fantastically written story.
Not to mention a plot twist I totally did not see coming bit absolutely loved and thought was perfect. Yes I freely admit that I loved this book.
I have my fingers crossed that the wait for more isn’t long. No pressure Nina Croft, but I need more!!!
Loved this book!! The fast pace of the story was great and the fine line Nate and Regan walked was intriguing making it a fantastic good guy/bad girl story. A jewel thief and a cop are truly an unlikely couple but these two pull it off beautifully. He may have been the one that got her locked up but staying away from him just doesn't seem possible. Being with an ex-con could be career suicide for Detective Nate Carter but the pull to be with her makes all the risks worth it.
This is one I think everyone would enjoy. I highly recommend it.
Loved this book! It's a fast paced contemporary romance that kept me turning pages just as quickly as possible. Nathan is a detective that arrested Regan several years ago for a diamond theft. She ends up serving three years before being released, then sees Nathan and they end up in bed together. One thing leads to another and they keep seeing each other, despite Regan's entire family being criminals.....Nathan's dad even arrested Regan's dad three times, so Regan knows he'll never approve of her dating Nathan. Add in Nathan's co-workers not approving of his consorting with a criminal and you have all the elements for a entertaining romance.
Fans of the genre will love this novel! The author is on my must read authors' list and she should probably be on yours as well. This book is a must read.
