I absolutely love sweet potatoes so this diet was perfect for me. Moreover, the recipes were especially creative and yummy.
This was an ok book. Don't think I'll ever open it again. The title grabbed me more but it just ddint deliver
Simple to follow, no crazy foods, REALISTIC, affordable and the food tastes GREAT! I feel like my cravings for sugar has disappeared. I actually feel like exercising! I definitely feel happier and energized. I am just in the first couple days of implementing this into my lifestyle , but I feel it's a very doable plan.
We used to have sweet potato as snack. but fully on sweet potato diet is new to me.......The recipes with sweet potato are worth making......
Interesting ideas in the book. To start out with replacing all carbs with sweet potatoes. Not sure if this is for me, but the concept seems interesting. May have to try in the future.
The Sweet Potato Diet is an interesting cooking/ healthy eating book which advocates carb cycling but using sweet potatoes to pack a real nutritional punch.
Now I will say the science bit was a little long winded and the eating plan I follow is very different, so I didn’t really spend much time on this section. I was more enamoured by the recipes included, all using sweet potatoes. In fact there are 45 of them, using every type of food including meat, fish, and veg, plus ideas for snacks and other recipes to keep you feeling full and hopefully stop you snacking on food that isn’t good for you! Plus the recipes aren't overly complicated - most are pretty simple.
There are also some nicely presented photos to accompany recipes and I like the look of quite a few dishes, but it didn’t blow me away like many other cookbooks have done recently. I think perhaps it’s actually a little too specific for me – I love sweet potatoes, which is why I wanted to read this book, but even I felt like I wanted a change after a while of reading this book.
Overall,The Sweet Potato Dietseems great if you want to follow the diet / eating plan Morelli lays out and explains (which I’m sure has worked for many people, including himself) but if you’re just looking for a cookery book, like me, it’s not likely to hugely impress.
This book was a total surprise to me. How have I never heard of this before??? Well, color me schooled in all things sweet potato! I've learned quite a bit from this book and have begun my trek for health by indulging in the sweet potato. Lucky for me I already love them. This is one carbohydrate rule I can definitely follow. The recipes, approved foods and grocery guide are super helpful. It seems almost too easy, but I can't wait to start. This feels like something I can really do! Truly loving this.
Michael’s sweet potato diet concentrates on the science behind the good carbs and bad carbs and how they help in maintaining a good weight with the proper diet and exercise plan. The approved foods and menus are not solely about eating sweet potatoes, but eating all the right carb and protein friendly foods that will complete the suggested meal planning and recipes with pictures included in the book. I love how the exercises he recommends are shown with detailed pictures.
