I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review...several years ago, which I found hidden on my computer.
Plot: Victory gets a call from an old classmate to meet, she goes to meet him and hears shots fired. She cannot go to the police, because one of them was there when her classmate died. Just like that instead of continuing her research she is on the run. And of course there is a guy, who is thrown together with her to bring down a corrupt government.
My thoughts: I love this kind of book! It reminded me a lot of another author I love to read, James Rollins. This is an excellent mystery novel with enough action, romance, science fiction and paranormal to make me love it. Such an action packed book with so many twists and turns that it just kept me reading until I finished. Very hard for me to believe that this was a debut novel! This was definitely one of my best ARCs I have ever received! And this was only book one of the series. I cannot wait to see more!
Victory had an ultra keen sense of hearing. She could also interpret the reactions of animals. There had been a sudden break in the forest’s tapestry. Victory heard Jeff’s voice and then Detective Ken Howard who was a homicide detective. Who had the investigation of Victory’s friend Lisa Evans who was found murdered in the parking garage. There was a thug with The detective Howard who killed Jeffery . Victory knew she could let no one know she had known Jeffery and was suppose to have met him as she ran. Jeffery and Victory had been inseparable in college and then one week before graduation Jeffery was approached by a corporate man and went Jeffery went with him for the money. It had been five years since Victory heard from Jeffery then he called her asking if she would meet him. Ariel agreed as she still felt an emotional bond to Jeffery. Now Ariel knew she had to disappear until she knew what was going on and she couldn’t leave a paper trail. Victory headed to meet up with her sister Payton. Jeffery had been Tristan’s only lead until Tristan picked up Victory’s scent. Tristan was a former Navy Seal was now ranked as a commander and lead team Alpha. - a secret special ops operation. Wyatt was his boss and older brother. Six months ago Tristan and Wyatt were transferred to these positions. Captain Roberts was now the general in charge of SOCOM - the secret special ops operation Roberts wanted to form a special team using military personnel who displayed more advanced instincts. Victory was a veterinarian and geneticist and specializes in molecular biology and works for Claremont Research.Dave Anderson and Jerry Jeenis were down the block from the fairgrounds where Victory was with her sister Payton for a dog show. They were waiting for Max to return from recon. Jerry was the person who had killed Jeffery. They want Victory and her research. Victory is blackmailed into working for them and taken to an island paradise.
I absolutely loved this story. I loved the plot. I also got caught up in the story from the very beginning and stayed that way until the end of the story. I was glad Victory had Tristan on her side that is for sure. I also loved how her sister Payton was immediately there for Victory. I loved the dog in this story it added to the story for me. I really found nothing wrong with this story. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I highly recommend.
When Victory Winters witnesses a murder she becomes the target of both the good guys and the bad guys. She agrees to help Tristan and his team in the fight against Biotec and their research into werewolves. A good action suspense with a touch of romance. First in a new series that will have readers wanting more of the Winters sisters and their pet Dobermans. Willow's story can't come fast enough. It appears that Joanne Jaytanie has written a large number of books and I'll be looking for them.
This is the first book by Joanne Jatanie I have read and I have to say that I am impressed. I loved this book. It was a great read earning 5 Stars from me!
In this first book of the series, it starts off with Victory Winters. Victory is a world known geneticist and one of the triplet Winters Sisters. She witnesses her friend Jeffery get shot and she is scared and on the run. Then right after Tristan Farraday, hot sexy undercover Naval officer of elite government team, picks up her trail. He is trying to figure out what see saw and if she is involved. Then she is kidnapped and Tristen is trying to rescue her and find out what she knows. Can she trust him? Can he find out her true purpose? Is she involved in the murder of Jeffery?
I just have to say that this book is straight up action from page one. I loved every minute of it. Joanne Jaytanie has a great start to the series here. She has laid out the land of the plot and is continuing to build on it. The characters she has introduced so far are amazing. Tristan and Victory are so electric and mesmerizing. They have a magnetic chemistry. They are well matched together in this adventure. Two incredibly smart individuals, with a strong connection. It is not exactly a cliff hanger per say, but I am captivated and must know what happens next. I had a hard time putting this book down and am so excited to read the next book in the series. There is kidnapping, blackmail, murder, sex and amazing abilities. The story is so exciting and contagious. A truly great read. I am a definite new fan!!!! If you are looking for an action adventure thriller, then this is the book for you
4Stars
I'm not generally a fan of books that have a sci-fi/paranormal element, but I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Winters Sisters series.
The characters are complex and intriguing. Smart, beautiful, sassy, headstrong and loyal are just some of the traits that Victory Winters possess. Her family are the center of her world, so when she is blackmailed into working for an underhanded company she does it to protect those dearest to her.
Tristan Farraday is a sexy, strong, intelligent and alpha Navy operative.
Their romance is a slow burn and I enjoyed the build up of trust, affection and heat to their story.
Chasing Victory is an action, suspense and intrigue filled read with paranormal and sci-fi elements that kept me completely enthralled from the very first page. Paranormal and Sci-Fi is generally not a genre that I take to but Ms Jatanie's style of writing was enjoyable and extremely entertaining and left me wanting to know more of the Winters' family.
