This story is continuing in a somewhat predictable but pleasant manner. Part two sees further development of the main characters and life in the village. This is a real feelgood short episode (I believe there are four altogether) and I am certainly committed to finding out what happens next as once again we have been left with a cliffhanger.
I would like to thank netgalley and penguin random house for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the series and really can't be read as a standalone as the first book although short does set up the scenario and characters. This book follows on nicely to the previous book with a good continuation of storyline. Sam the main character makes some big changes in her life in this one and although again this is a short read it has quite a lot happening in it to make you read this in well under an hour. It does end on a cliffhanger so you will have to buy the next to find out what happens.
I enjoyed this read and think it was better than the first.
I loved the 2nd part of this book. Only negative I would say is that it would have been better if the parts were closer together as I had to go back and reread part of part 1. I can't wait to read the 3rd part to find out what happens to Sam and the baby. Whether she has a better relationship with her boss Joe or ends up falling for the handsome David even though she says he's just like a brother
"Follow your Heart" is a nice continuation of the series, and I enjoyed it even more than the first part. It was not so wishy - washy, even though the first part was also very nice, but this one was in my opinion more down to earth and believable, yet still cute and light - hearted.
The story starts exactly where we left. Sam tells Adam she's pregnant and the way he reacted didn't surprise me at all. It doesn't take long for Sam to decide that she wants to leave London and where is better than at her Nana Peggy's who's feeling so lonely. There is also a small black cat in a need of a good home involved and the story also brings us back to the lovely people from Nana's village and one very complicated vet as well.
It's a very easy, straight - forward read without twists and turns, yet its steady level somehow works and it's a real pleasure to read it. And this time it is also full of decisions to be made, of new beginnings, new and old friends. The last scene ended - of course - with a cliff hanger that is not a cliff hanger for me any more as - my mistake! My mistake! I shouldn't have but have done it (well, it was at the end of the book, so there) - I've read what is to be expected in the next two parts. However, I am really looking forward to reading the next parts as I incredibly want to see why Joe is as he is and I am sure that Sam is jumping to conclusion about one situation, and I want to see it explained. There is great warmth to the writing style and I just want it to envelop me in its warmth again. Easy, light and quick read and lovely continuation to the series. Really recommended, though you have to make sure to read it in the right order!
as good as the first novel in the series, i now eagerly await the 3rd.
This series is fantastic! I'm an animal lover so being set in a vets is wonderful for me. Can't wait for the next one!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sam is now back in London doing her job as a receptionist for a vets practice - she has to tell Adam that she is pregnant and he doesn't take the news too well as he is not ready to be a father.
We see more of the relationship between Sam and her Nana and Sam is determined to keep the baby and go it alone if she has to.
Another heartwarming novella and I am looking forward to the next instalment - ever since the James Herriot books I have loved reading about stories from vets practices and this is no exception with some lovely animal stories
This is the second part of this story, another sweet novella that ends on a dramatic cliffhanger. There’s lots of action as Sam tells her ex-boyfriend, Adam, that she’s pregnant. His reaction is much as I had expected but life is now offering Sam a variety of options and she decides to spend more time with her Nana, taking Ebony, a stray cat that has won her heart, with her in the hopes that both her Nana and Ebony will help each other find love. As more choices need making, more possibilities emerge and life continues to throw obstacles in the way to keep everything intriguingly uncertain. This is a quick but highly entertaining read that I thoroughly enjoyed but left me really wanting the next parts to read as soon as possible! This is one of those multi-part series that I think I will want to read again completely once it is all available but it certainly keeps you guessing between publication dates!
Many thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this novel with no obligation. This is my honest review.
Poor Sam ended up in a little bit of a pickle with her boyfriend, Adam, in part 1 and I was hopeful that her luck would change with this instalment. However, Sam is STILL having trouble with Adam and her luck doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.
Once again, it is quite tricky to write a review for a book series because it's quite tricky to work out what to say without giving anything away. I really enjoyed returning to Hope Green; so much in fact I read the book in an hour and I wasn't mentally prepared for it to end! Luckily for us, the third instalment should be here in a month!
I loved how Sam's dilemma highlighted such relatable situations; especially given the fact that it looks a 'happy' sort of book. Which it is, don't get me wrong. It just contains more depth to it that meets the eye, and I really do think a lot of readers will resonate with Sam. I must admit though, one character in particular managed to rub me up the wrong way in this part, too! I wasn't really surprised that the leopard didn't change its spots; but you gotta be positive, right?
Another cosy part to The Vets at Hope Green series. Re-visiting our friends in Hope Green with Sheila Norton, is like being cuddled in a big, soft blanket. I can't wait to see how the storyline pans out in part three!
Thank you Ebury!
This is a cosy, well written story that is paced to keep you reading and waiting to see how the story will unfold. Although it is a romance, and I am thinking that I know how it will end, I am still keen to keep on reading and find out how the characters evolve and find their happy ever after.
In part two of ‘The Vets of Hope Green series of four novellas, Sam has left Hope Green and the sanctuary of her Nana’s beautiful countryside home and returned to her shared flat in London. She has returned to work as a receptionist at the local veterinary practice and is determined to keep the baby she is expecting with her boyfriend Adam. She wants to break the news of her pregnancy to him and is hoping that they can rebuild their relationship and make a go of it, bringing up the baby as a family. But when she breaks the news to him he is shocked, belligerent and still maintaining marriage is far away, if ever, and a child is the last thing he wants at this time in their fractured relationship. She realises that their relationship is beyond salvage and that she will be raising their child as a single parent. Adam is furious with her and she makes the decision to break up with him.
In the meantime a stray black kitten is handed in to the London practice and she immediately bonds with it. It is very thin and poorly, but she helps to nurse it back to health. It will eventually go to the rescue centre for rehoming. Much as she has fallen in love with the kitten, she is not allowed to keep pets in her flat-share. Suddenly an idea comes into her head. Perhaps her Nana would adopt the kitten to keep her company?
When she next visits her Nana over the upcoming holiday weekend, she takes the kitten with her, hoping her Nana will fall in love with it and want to adopt it. She breaks the news of her relationship break up and why it has happened. She tells her Nana that her parents have received the news, saying that they will help her out financially so she thinks she will be able to move away from London and get a job and muddle through. She is quite unprepared for the suggestion Nana makes; that she can live with Nana and apply for a job locally. There are plenty of jobs going as the holiday season is fast approaching. This idea could be her answer to her problem and she would have the added pleasure of Nana’s company and also be at hand to help her out. Since her dog Rufus has died, Nana is looking lonely and fragile. This is the answer to her worries: the decision has been made.
‘Follow Your Heart’ is a very short story. I had already ‘met’ the characters in part one of the story ‘Escape to the Country’ and it was good to return to the story without having to wait too long: the series of four are released within months of each other, so the first story was still fresh in my mind. Sheila Norton’s storytelling is fresh, easy to read and entertaining, with real issues being put under the telescope. I have high hopes for the next book which should see Sam settling into her new job and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Ebony the really cute kitten. As Sam makes friends I’m hoping her life will see an up-turn.
I would like to thank NetGalley and publisher Ebury Digital for my copy of ‘Follow Your Heart’, sent to me in return for an honest review. It’s quite difficult to write a review about a book in the making, as it were, But this ‘episode’ is very readable and I look forward to reading the next instalment.
This is a light-hearted read with a more serious background story. The characterisation is excellent and very believable and Sam's situation entirely believable. Overall, it is a very entertaining read.
This section is the immediate follow up from part one. I must admit to not being keen on the fad for splitting a novel into three or usually four parts and although this is an excellent 'instalment' at 61 pages it is just too short.
I am looking forward to the next part, but really wish it was published as one novel.
I received an arc via Net Galley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this on exchange for an honest review. After having read The Vets at Hope Green Part 1 and getting to know Sam and the other characters in the book, I was left wanting to read part 2. It was great to be able to catch up with Sam and all the happenings both in London and the now-familiar Hope Green. I felt happy at reading about characters and a setting I have come to love. Once again, Sheila Norton's writing style, attention to detail and ability to write a truly heart-wrenching read that continues to be unforgettable is what is so unique about this book. Really looking forward to part 3
Crikey, but this is a very short story!
I read this while my husband watched a rugby match (I know the shouting and everything! But I managed it.) I enjoyed the story, but it was so short, I need to read this story in one go, not be tempted by a bit at a time. Maybe it will eventually be released as a boxed set, which would make reading it so much more enjoyable.
Sam is worried about her Nana who having lost her husband some time ago, has since lost her dog Rufus and Sam suspects she is lonely and depressed. Meanwhile back in London Sam is splitting up with her boyfriend and worrying about a stray cat which she worries will never be adopted from the vets where she works. What can Sam do to work out all these issues.
She starts with her own situation, she is pregnant and needs to tell the father of her child, Adam, who doesn't react well.
Then starts the big changes in Sam's life and her move to Hope Green.
At Hope Green, Sam's relationships with Izzie, David, Nana and Joe all develop and life starts to take on normality. For now…
I enjoyed part two very much. Not so much about Dorset in this chapter, but you definitely Get a feel of life in a small village, with everyone thinking they know everything about everyone else. Sam has made the decision to move away from London, and live with her grandmother at least until the baby is born. She has found a job working as receptionist for Joe, but he is extremely grumpy and they don't get on - yet. She does admire how he is with the animals that come into the survey though. I would have preferred part two to be longer, but that is a minor criticism. Thank you NetGalley and Ebury Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
After reading part one I couldnt wait to get the next part and find out what was next for Sam.
Part two is jam packed with loads going on. We see Sam confess to Adam shes pregnant, which doesnt end the way she had thought leaving her not knowing what is next for her and her unborn baby and where she is going to go.
At the end of part two there is something major happening and we are teased as we dont know whats going to happen.
Cant wait for part three!
A lovely part two book which picks up exactly where part one left off. Although it's better to read it as one of a series you could still enjoy the story as a one off. A lovely modern on off romance with pets, country lviing and a dashingly handsome (although bad tempered) vet as the hero of the hour.. A lovely feel good read for a chilly winter''s evening that makes you what to read part three immediately, to know what's going to happen next. It's not all roses and cream teas though; there are contemporary issues with single motherhood one of the main plot themes.
I read Part One and was so pleased I didn't have to wait long for Part 2. Just hoping Part 3 will be along soon.
I've really enjoyed the characters and like the relationships which are being build on from Part 1. The author captures your interest and as the story twists and turns keeps you wanting to know what happens next.
I really enjoyed part 1 of the Vets at Hope Green and part 2 was just as enjoyable.
The story starts with Sam back in London but realising she's not totally happy with her life and is still dreaming of the beauty and calmness of Hope Green. Things aren't going well with her boyfriend and she's not happy. Could there be an easy way out where she can really have it all? Coming across a stray cat that needs love and nurturing may be the push she needs.
This is a lovely heartwarming short story and I can't wait for the next two instalments. Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House UK Ebury Publishing and Sheila Norton for the chance to review.
I was so excited for the chance to read part two of the series, and get to catch up with Sam to see if she has made any life altering decisions. Part one of the series was such a heartwarming and lovely story.
So I was relieved that part two was just as satisfying as the first book. It's a cute lighthearted series without any complicated plot scenarios, however it's definitely ideal to read part one before you curl up in your favourite reading spot with the rest of the series.
Again, it's only a sweet little novella, so perfect if you don't have a lot of free time to get completely lost in a book. Like the first book, it ends on another cliffhanger, so I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Thank you to NetGalley, and the publisher Penguin Random House Uk, Ebury Publishing, for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest and unbiased review.
