I enjoyed this book very much...I did have it figured out early on, but it was still well written and kept me interested the whole way through.
I recieved an e-copy of this book for review from Netgalley and I enjoyed all of the suspense elements. This book is told from the perspective of a father who has lost his daughter Summer. Summer and her friend both disappear and are later found in a park located nearby. One is dead the other is badly hurt and we join the search to learn what happened to these girls. I found myself struggling with the pov of the book because it seemed super slow at times, but the twist and turns in this book were unexpected. I was able to guess what happened to Summer before the end and other things in the story I didn't see coming. I will definitely be recommending this book if someone is looking for an easy suspenseful story.
The title, then the premise intrigued me and I really wanted to enjoy this book. This is the first story I have read from this author and would give his others a try. This one deals with a father, Bill Price, searching for his missing daughter who may have run away, murdered and/or kidnapped. He pushes the cops and I’m surprised one detective is easy on him. There are some twists, red herrings but nothing close to a mystery or a thriller. Also, it seemed to go one way, then another as though the other wasn’t sure which way he was heading. Not suspenseful, but I haven’t given up hope. The author writes well, is descriptive and the narrative works. I just had a hard time believing the story line.
This is the second book I read by David Bell and this one didn't disappoint. The characters are well formed, the writer is great, the story is breathtaking. I finished this in 1 sitting
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
From page one, his book kicks it into high gear. No messing around, you enter right into the thick of the story.
I am constantly coming up with theories and ideas on the stories I read, but this one had me guessing until the very end.
Lots of twists and turns! I would suggest this book!
Scary to think who can be living in your back yard, in your neighborhood. Exactly what happened to Bill. His life turned upside down over and over again until the very end. Page turner, leaves you guessing until the very end! Wow!
David Bell got me on board with the characters since to me they were regular people that you come across every day.
Bill Price is a widower. His wife has died tragically in an accident, leaving Bill to take care of his teenage daughter, This is a book where a parent isn't really sure what his teenage daughter does while with friends. When you have police that don't help and leaves it up to someone that is not familiar with the proper procedures. So Bill has to find out who did this to her.
As Summer starts to recover, Bill notices that Summer is trying to communicate - Something is very wrong.
This novel is a puzzle - what happened to Summer and her friend - who would harm/kill these young girls. Heart wrenching at times, descriptive, and well written. Parents will feel the sting - could this happen to my family! There are many twists in this book - and nothing is what it seems.
Another great mystery by David Bell! I enjoy his writing because it just seems real - no fluff, just authentic storytelling.
I didn't start out to want to like this or thinking I would even like this book.. But hey net galley is for readers so I read. This is just plain well written, it makes you question or at least think about questioning just what we know about those closest to us. I enjoyed it and you will too.
I was excited to read another David Bell novel..
I have read 4 other of his novels. I have enjoyed all of them.
A father receives a call that all parents fear receiving- his daughter is seriously injured and in intensive care at the hospital. As he searches for answers, he learns more about his daughter that he as a parent should have.
Thus starting an emotional roller coaster of suspense.
I highly recommend this book.
If you want mystery, drama, and all that goes with it, than this is the read for you. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was dramatic, the characters spoke to you, and I loved the storyline.
I would definitely recommend this book .It was entertaining from beginning to end. Keeps you guessing all the way through until the very end.
Excellent! 5 Stars
An excellent story that kept me guessing and wanting more the whole way through. The main character had his flaws that he clearly struggled with the whole story and his circumstances continuously challenged his struggles. I definitely want to hear more from this author...loved the writing style!
About 2 years ago I stumbled across Mr. Bell's books and from the first one I was instantly entranced and I could not put the book down. As soon I was done, I devoured every other book he has written and now I wait anxiously for his next new book. If you love mystery and suspense where you can never guess what or who it is till the very end, this is the book for you. Bill's daughter Summer and her best friend have disappeared. Days later they are both found, but only one is alive. It is a roller coaster ride from there and it will keep you on your toes. This is a great weekend read or when you have time for the whole day, as you will not be able to put this book down.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read Bring Her Home by David Bell. I have just starting reading David Bell's novels thanks to advance copy reading. I like his style. He immediately gets the reader on board with the characters. Very descriptive and genuine in his ability to convey the terrible things that happen to "regular" people.
Bill Price is a widower. His wife has died tragically in an accident, leaving Bill to take care of his teenage daughter, Summer. Summer is found beaten badly and her friend is dead. Bill has no idea of what has happened to his daughter and her friend. What Bill realizes - he knows very little of what his daughter has been doing. He must find out what happened to her and the police are not helping find who has hurt his daughter.
As Summer starts to recover, Bill notices that Summer is trying to communicate - Something is very wrong.

Review I got this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I read Somebody I Used to Know by this author and loved it. I have read this and 2 of his other books since and they just haven't been as good. I recommend this author for people that like Linwood Barclay's domestic suspense thrillers, but understand his books won't be quite as good as Barclay's.
This book started out fairly interesting, but as time went on, I felt that it started to drag and I just wanted to find out what happened and be done with it. I found myself skimming pages just to move it along. I felt like a few of the events were somewhat implausible and I felt that the ending was a bit contrived and I had doubts as to whether things would have really unfolded the way they did. Anyway, it wasn't a total waste of time, just definitely not a favorite. I will probably read this author's next book hoping for a return to the form of Somebody I Used to Know.
Bring Her Home follows Bill Price in his arduous search for his daughter Summer. He will stop at absolutely nothing to have her back. He embarks on his own investigation, often times interfering with the detectives work and stepping on the toes of other parents in his quest for answers. Admirable, for sure.
While I found Bill's determination admirable, his personality was the exact opposite. It made it almost impossible to empathize with him. He lost his wife to a tragic accident, now his daughter is gone, his best friend is moving, the only other person with which he seems to have any form of relationship with is his sister Paige, and that is just barely. As we get to know Bill, we learn he has a bit of a temper and it sometimes gets the best of him.
While there were several different plot twists, none of them really took me by surprise and just seemed rather predictable. The pace was slow going and for every big reveal it seemed there were several pages of down time or repeat dialogue where Bill argues for someone's immediate arrest.
Bring Her Back kept me guessing until the end. A roller coaster of a whodunnit. Every parents worst nightmare, your child disappears with a friend and her friend is found dead, but where is your daughter? You have to read to find out!
I really liked Bring Her Home. I expected the first twist but was surprised it was so early in the book...then I was really hooked. I really felt for the dad throughout the entire book.
Bring Her Home is an excellent thriller about one man's desperate journey to find out what happened to his teenage daughter. The short-chapter format and multiple twists make this book a quick and exhilarating read. I am looking forward to adding this to our library's collection--our students have really enjoyed Mr. Bell's previous books, as well. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the preview copy!
