Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

A quick read with just enough heat, but otherwise a bit lackluster.

Loved this read. The characters are amazing, great story and very steamy. I loved Brandy/Kate and the emotional journey this story takes her on. I was hooked from beginning to end.

"Lady in Red" by Mel Teshco is the story of Kate Matthews and Blaine Waymann.

Kate was battered and bullied growing up. She transforms herself into a high class escort, "call girl", known as "Brandy Alexander". The most important rule Kate has to follow is "don't fall in love with a client."

Blaine is a billionaire who is one of Kate's favorite clients. He wants exclusive rights to her, "Brandy". Kate doesn't want to be put in a position to where she is dependent on one person. She wants to maintain control. Blaine is willing to go to extremes to try to convince "Brandy" to allow him exclusive rights to her. Will Kate, "Brandy", take a risk with Blaine? Is Blaine really willing to go to any extremes to convince Kate, "Brandy"?

This is a spicy and steamy read. The story line is very similar to the movie "Pretty Woman". Along the way there were a few surprises. Not everything was as it seemed. FYI, contains mature content.

Kate whose professional name is Brandy is a very successful high class call girl.
Blaine one of her clients is a very successful businessman who wants Brandy for himself alone and will do whatever it takes to achieve this aim but he does not count on Brandy's obstinacy.
Heart by her past Kate/Brandy will do whatever it takes to maintain her independence to ensure that she is never heart again.
A good read in its genre.

Just not the book for me. She has to much self doubt and is just about sex. Wanted more of a story line and a little less sex.

So this is Pretty Woman in red and it's a lovely sweet read but....
I hate that there's just about always a but (more on this later)
Kate Matthews had an awful childhood she was bullied at school and had issues at home (these reveal themselves throughout book so no spoilers from me) she has only bad memories and those memories alone make her insecurities return.
She's reinvented herself as Brandy the high class call girl, she's beautiful, fit and polished, she has a select number of clients, she's booked up months in advance and she earns a really good money. Brandy likes sex (which is always a plus in her profession) and she's convinced herself she's got everything she needs, soon she'll be able to retire and be set for life.
Blaine is a billionaire he's also young, handsome and incredibly fit and he knows the moment he sees Brandy she was going to be his, well his for the night anyway. He does his homework and discovers her name and profession and booked her and he's never looked back. Originally he thought he'd quickly get her out of his system but that hasn't worked, the more time he spends with her the more he wants her.
So it's all worked out so well, Blaine wants to keep Brandy and this but be a dream have come true for her and so they live happily ever after?.......well not quite.
If Brandy's childhood taught her anything it's that looks matter and you're nothing once they've gone, while she knows Blaine wants her she also knows he'd soon get fed up and move on. So regardless of how much she wants him she's got to keep her head in the game and disregard her heart.
Now for the but.
I'm all about the romance. I don't care if a guy's been a manwhore or even if, like in this case the woman has been a prostitute it's all about the romance and as soon as they realise it's love everyone else blurbs away.
Now that doesn't happen in this case. He wants her but she's still working and therefore still having sex with other men and this is the part I struggled with.
I couldn't imagine that a man like Blaine would be ok with sharing her once he'd realised she was the one.
Despite that this is a nice enjoyable read, it's idealistic and sweet for example all the call girls are best friends there's no nastiness or anything.
Will I read the next book High Class?
Yes I will even though it will come with the same problem I can't wait.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and Tule Publishing.

Short and sexy, this one is perfect if you like your romance a little on the steamy side. Blaine and Kate, aka Brandy, are both believable characters and while the story stretches the bounds of probability it is a nice twist on the Pretty Woman theme.
