In Bitter Harvest, readers are transported back again to Washington Acres and its owner former lawyer turned organic farmer Megan Sawyer. Its been six months since we last saw Megan and the town of Winsome. Six months since a murder mystery was solved in the same farm that Megan has toiled and made successful. Now the town of Winsome is celebrating its first Oktoberfest and unfortunately a body has been found in the solar farm which places a pall in the town's celebration. Now as Megan tries to navigate her own personal life, she can't help but get involve in trying to solve this case as well. Can Winsome have another murderer in town?
This is the second book in Wendy Tyson's A Greenhouse Mystery series and its still holding my interest like the first book. Ms. Tyson's relatable main character, the town of Winsome and the people living there plus the ever informative organic farming details embedded in the book makes Bitter Harvest a page turner. The intricate plot plus the reveal of who the culprit is makes this a definite must read. You can't really guess whodunit!

I picked this book to read because of its gorgeous cover. The first few paragraphs immediately pulled me into the world of Megan Sawyer and her farm, Washington Acres, and I didn't read the rest almost straight through. The characters are fully developed and their conflicts are believable. I haven't read the first book in the series (yet), but I didn't feel at all lost. There's one reference to Megan's land that's obviously from the first book, but not knowing what was going on there didn't detract at all from my enjoyment of this one. I highly recommend Bitter Harvest.

Wendy Tyson writes such fun mysteries. The thing I like best is even with same characters nothing seems the same!

Bitter Harvest is the second book in author Wendy Tysons phenomenally spectacular greenhouse mystery series. I was entranced from page one and read it in one sitting. This eagerly awaited second in series is even better then the first. I cannot possibly articulate enough excitement for this series.
In this second installment our clever independent protagonist Meagan is seeing much success from her businesses, a organic farm. Set in a small town in Winsome Pennsylvania the farm is enchanting. Meagan is planning to help with the town's October fest celebration. A murder takes place and Meagan is on the case. I love the descriptions of the town, the witty and endearing townspeople and how supported they are by each other. The reader immediately wishes to travel to this town. The sleuth is extremely well crafted and fun to read with many clues along the way. . As a avid mystery reader I was unable to determine the outcome and pleasantly surprised. This is a very enjoyable read that I highly recommend. Thank you for the ARC which did not influence my review. This reader cannot wait for the next book.

You all know that I love a good mystery of any kind – thriller, spy, art theft. But my favorite mystery niche is probably the cozy. A good cozy usually takes place in a small town, is full of interesting characters, and has a (typically amateur) sleuth trying to figure out whodunit. For me, the cozy isn’t necessarily about the mystery. It’s the characters and the setting that keep me coming back for more.
Ms. Tyson has found a great setting for her books — the town of Winsome. The folks are friendly (well, most of them). The food sounds amazing (between Alvaro’s dishes at the cafe, the harvests going on at the farm, and even the simple picnics Megan shares with Denver, I’m hungry just thinking about it). And then there’s our heroine, Megan. She’s hardworking, down-to-earth, maybe a little flawed, and just downright likable.
It’s the kind of place that I love to read about. And perfect for that small town mystery.
Megan and her grandmother Bibi own and run their organic family farm, Washington Acres, and the Washington Acres Cafe in Winsome. A Muddied Murder spent time on the ins and outs of life on the farm and getting the cafe up and running. Now that Washington Acres is somewhat established, this second outing focuses more on the town and the upcoming Oktoberfest celebration.
Washington Acres hopes to be a sponsor of Oktoberfest, and at the very least will be participating in the food events. In fact, things are getting pretty heated around town regarding Oktoberfest and it’s sponsors, including the Breakfast Club regulars at the cafe. Soon after, one of the Oktoberfest vendors turns up dead. Is it an accident, or something more? And if it is murder, who in Winsome could have done it?
Megan not only finds herself in the middle of this latest town mystery, but she’s got a few personal mysteries to contend with as well. Is someone watching her and/or her farm, or is she just paranoid? She’s recently connected with her Aunt Sarah, who seems to be holding back information about Megan’s long-lost mother. And what to do about Denver, the handsome, Scottish, town veterinarian?
Once again, Ms. Tyson pulled me in on the first page and I was hooked until the end. I am looking forward to my next outing with Winsome.

Winsome is a charming little town with interesting characters. Clever mystery. Cute dialog between the lovely protagonist and her hunky Scottish veterinarian boyfriend. Eager for the next one and hoping for more of the missing mother mystery to be resolved.

Ms. Tyson does it again! I loved the first book in the series, A Muddied Murder, and this book is easily as good. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, well developed characters and plot you will enjoy this series.

This is the second book in the Greenhouse Mystery series and I liked it more than the first one. The murder plot feels well thought out and the Oktoberfest plot all feels coherent too. There's still a little bit of lack of detail to the characterisation of some of the secondary characters, but Megan feels more rounded in this book than she did in the first. I like the vet who is the love interest - but the rendering of his Scottish accent annoys me (and to me he seems to be using the wrong words on occasion - for example he uses 'laddie' to describe an older man at one point, which is a word for a boy or a teenager). So a few minor niggles, but the plot and the lead characters were good.

I love growing my own vegetables and making good food with them so I was thrilled when I discovered Wendy Tyson’s Greenhouse Mystery Series. Her second book is an great little cozy with all the right ingredients! I really enjoyed reading and learning more about Megan’s organic farm and café and the mystery had a few interesting twists and turns in it that kept me interested to the end. I’m looking forward to the next installment! 4 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy and the opportunity to review this book.

Author Wendy Tyson has created a series that is absolutely wonderful in every way!
It has felt like such a long wait for this second installment in the Greenhouse Mysteries to come out. But after reading A MUDDIED MURDER, the first book in this series, a day would have felt like too long!
I was so excited when I finally got my hands on BITTER HARVEST. Once it was in my grasp, and I started reading, I couldn’t set it down! I was finally back in Winsome, PA with Megan, Bibi, Finn, Clover, King, and all the townspeople. It felt liking going home. As I write this, I’m actually sad that I had to say goodbye. (No worries though. The next book is due out this fall!)
BITTER HARVEST is a brilliantly clever book in every way. Wendy Tyson brought to us in this story, not just one mystery, but two! There is of course one heck of a whodunit murder to be solved. But there is a secondary mystery involving someone close to Megan that made this a real bushel full of mystery, and an even more exciting read. I want to say more, but I’d risk giving things away.
Ms. Tyson is an exciting voice in the cozy mystery genre, and nothing proves that better than this amazing book, or I should say, this amazing series! Fans, prepare to be thrilled. New readers, pick up A MUDDIED MURDER and BITTER HARVEST and you’ll have the fun of getting to read them back to back!

Megan Sawyer finds herself involved in solving another mystery in her small town of Winsome. The twists and turns keep you guessing right to the end.

The return trip to Winsome, PA, was as fun as my first visit (see A Muddied Murder) - the land is colorful, the people friendly, and the county deadly.
Megan, a somewhat discouraged lawyer, has inherited the family farm. In order to help it thrive, she has opened a small farm stand near the farm and a small diner in town - both serving home grown vegetables and meats. Now harvest season has arrived and the town is proposing the first ever Oktoberfest to showcase the town's small businesses. It only takes a couple of murders and one large farm to make a hornet’s nest out of the small community’s plans.
Megan, her family, her farm hands, her chef, Alvaro, and the local veterinarian, Dr. Daniel “Denver” Finn, would work with the Bobby King, the local police chief, to find the motive, culprit, and save Oktoberfest from the trash heap.
Having lived in small towns and having good friends with a local farm stand, I have an appreciation for the environment in which Megan finds herself. Oktoberfest does come off - with only a few hitches along the way. And the nasty schemes of unscrupulous behavior of community members will come to light. This book will hold the interest of the farmer, the small town dweller, and the cozy mystery reader. And though being published in the Spring of 2017, it would serve as wonderful entertainment during the cooler days of Fall.
Thank you Wendy Tyson for another great book.

I really enjoy this series with its organic gardening and goats! I love being able to revisit Winsome in this second book. The series just keeps getting better and I am already looking forward to the next book. The author weaves such an intriguing storyline that is very hard to put it down once you start reading. The setting for this one is Fall and Meg is upset about not being chosen for the Octoberfest, throw in a murder and all the fun characters it is a delightful, fun read. There is also garden hint and recipe included.

Bitter Harvest is the second book in Wendy Tyson’s Greenhouse Mystery series. This is the first book I’ve read in this series and while it can be read as a standalone, I found myself a little lost because the author kept referring to things that had previously happened but not explaining them. This story is well written and flows at a steady pace. There are two interesting mysteries occurring simultaneously in this book and both are resolved.
Megan Sawyer is an environmental lawyer, turned organic farmer and café owner in the small rural town of Winsome, Pennsylvania where she grew up. Megan is dealing with abandonment issues from her mother leaving her when she was a child), widowhood, and her attraction to Dr. Denver Finn, a handsome Scottish veterinarian. The town is preparing for its first Oktoberfest, which was originally designed to highlight local businesses and give the town an economic boost from visitors. Megan and other small business owners, however, are disappointed in the decisions made regarding the Oktoberfest celebration and the farms and businesses that received sponsorships due to changes made by promotional professional, Ophelia Dilworth, without adequate explanations. Otto Vance, the owner of Vance Brewery and the person who first suggested Oktoberfest to the town, dies under questionable circumstances and Ted Kuhl, the owner of Road Master Ale and Brewery, goes missing, Megan doesn’t think Sheriff King is being diligent in his investigations, believes he’s brushing her off and starts looking into things on her own. Friends become suspects and Megan uncovers lies and deceit while she tries to unravel the mysteries. With her hands full with her businesses, preparing for Oktoberfest events, and investigating, she’s also trying to figure out who is spying on her and her family from Potter's Hill.

This second Greenhouse mystery is likable and interesting, and peopled with realistic characters.
Ex-lawyer Megan Sawyer has left the big city to return to her small-town home. She works hard to make a success of her family's organic farm and cafe and watch over her grandmother. The setting for this mystery is an Octoberfest celebration designed to showcase local businesses and give the town an economic boost from visitors.
But something is off about the event from the very beginning. The main organizer is manipulative and dishonest, and then one of the people involved is found dead. Megan reluctantly tries to figure out what's happening to her community.
I enjoyed Megan's character and the mystery itself very much. There is a side plot concerning Megan's mother, who abandoned her when Megan was a child. The angst involving the true story behind her departure feels somewhat manufactured and more than a little confusing and I fear that this thread will become a distraction in future books.
I received an ARC from Net Galley in return for my honest review.

Bitter Harvest is the second book in Wendy Tyson's Greenhouse Mystery series. Megan Sawyer, environmental lawyer turned organic farmer, is working hard to prepare for small town Winsome, PA's Oktoberfest. Proposed by small town brewer and restauranteur Otto Vance with the idea of promoting the small farms and businesses of Winsome, the planning seems to have taken over and changed the theme of the event.
Instead of small organic farms being highlighted, the large Sauer farm known for animal cruelty and lack of organic methods has taken center stage. And instead of small award winning Road Master Brewery being chosen as the face of the festival, it is Vance Brewery with its mediocre brews that is chosen. This makes Megan question the proceedings, coming toe to toe with event PR planner Ophelia Dilworth.
If that were not enough to weigh upon Megan, it appears that someone has been spying on her and her farm from atop Potter's Hill. When the owner of Vance Brewery dies under questionable circumstances and the owner of Road Master Brewery goes missing, Megan is caught up in a web of lies, deceit, and the mysterious plot to capture more than just the limelight in a country festival.
Fast-paced and nail biting, Wendy Tyson has again spun a page turning mystery that pulls you in until the very end. And even then, there is another mystery afoot for Megan to untangle. I do recommend this book.

Megan is happy that her farm has survived its first year, and her cafe has become part of the locals' routine. But as the town is preparing for its Oktoberfest celebration, a freak accident claims the life of one of those locals. Not everyone is convinced, however, that it was an accident, and Megan is determined to learn the truth.
I enjoyed revisiting Winsome, Pennsylvania and becoming reacquainted with its residents. It's always fun to read books set in my home state, and this was no exception. The characters mesh together well, and their interactions really enhance the small town feel. As usual, I was unable to figure out whodunnit, although I started to suspect the motive well before it was revealed in the book. The recipes at the end of the book are an added bonus, and I look forward to reading the next chapter of Megan's story in the next book.

This was such a good book. I devoured it in 2 days. I was in love with the first book, and feel the same about this one. Megan gets many answers she has been looking for in this sequel. It is filled with crazy twists and turns that leave you at what you believe is a dead end, only to have your mind realling again with questions. True who dun it in its finest. I love how the author has incorporated her true life interests, into these books. I can feel the love, and hard work put into them. I am so ready for the next one!!
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Getting this book in no way changed the course of my review.

An enjoyable cozy mystery that finds Megan, an organic farmer in Pennsylvania, confronted with two sudden deaths in her small town right before the Oktoberfest event. Could it be murder? She and her handsome Scottish veterinarian aim to find out.

This book kept me turning pages as I met some very interesting characters in Winsome PA while the plot explored Megan Sawyer and her Grandma Bibi's lives. A recipe and gardening tip are included.
The rural town of Winsome PA is close enough to major cities that tourists can make a large impact on the local economy. Holding Oktoberfest to feature local farms, shops and eateries seems like a great idea until PR professional Ophelia Dilworth takes over and changes the rules without explanation.
Megan's struggle between widowhood and the handsome Scottish Vet, Dr. Denver Finn, provides a break from the tension of murder and deceit as friends become suspects and money may be behind murder.
Not a fluffy cozy as there are 2 plots running throughout this story but it is all one issue ...or is there a second issue solely centered on Megan?
I received an ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
I can hardly wait for book 3!!!
