I enjoyed this in some ways, but there was always another secret, another quick twist and it all got a bit much. The concepts around brain injury were interesting, but no idea of they are realistic at all.

Overall, I felt that the narration was a bit flat - some books when told in the third person can still take you into the plot, whereas I felt that this was more of a ‘written report’ of what was going on, hence I didn’t overly connect with the lead characters.

Enjoyable decently paced thriller, kept me on my toes and wanting to turn the pages. Decent 4 star book

Oh wow. What a ride, what a brain ache. This had me in circles, flicking pages faster than I could read them, and that ending…..yes that ending.

It’s good, man it’s good!

This was an enjoyable psychological thriller. I only rated it 3 stars due to the fact that I felt it could have been condensed a bit to make it a little pacier. I will read more from this author.

Not one of my favourite books by this author and I’m sorry to say that I struggled, through it. Just an ok read for me . 2.5 stars

Has all the aspects of the perfect physiological thriller.

Full of twists, secrets and lies, you get drawn into the story and invested in the characters early on.

I would definitely recommend with a solid 4 stars.

This was a fantastic read with brilliant characters.  It had shocks with surprises and more shocks. Brilliant. 5*.

This is the second book I've read by Jane Corry.

I liked the first one, My Husband’s Wife, and I liked this one just as much.

The story is told between two timelines, 2001 and 2016 which can be confusing sometimes but it worked really well in this case.

Fantastic characters, including Kitty and Alison, two sisters with very different personalities; Fascinating plot with unpredictable twists. Very engrossing story!

I am looking forward to Jane Corry’s next release.

Tense and unique this is an enjoyable read.

Twists and turns galore! A really enjoyable read and for teh last several chapters I could not put it down as I needed all to be revealed. This book ticked all the boxes for me, great characters who came alive. The plot was a rollercoaster and kept me guessing til the end. While some of the scenes were over the top I appreciated how the story was thrown together at the end and all twists revealed. an enjyoyable read.

A totally absorbing book, quite different from the norm. I loved the parallel stories and how they come together. A worthy read.

WoW. I was looking forward to reading Blood Sisters by Jane Corry. The first few chapters were good, dramatic and shocking. and I thought it would be a good book. However, I then became very slow, boring and it so Long. I felt it lacked something or did I miss it? I did not enjoy this book . If the book was condensed down it would of been a good book to read, it just went on and on and on!

Really enjoyed the beginning part of this book, but it seemed to lose its way, part way through. Was a bit disappointed in this book

Blood Sisters is Corry’s second novel and although I’ve had her debut on my TBR for awhile, I’ve never quite managed to squeeze it in. Now I’m kicking myself because I liked this one so much that I’m quite sure that I’ll end up loving her other book as well!

This is told via two viewpoints, sisters Kitty and Alison, it starts in 2016 then goes back to 2001 when they were children before some sort of accident that isn’t clearly outlined until much later. Corry did an admirable job at giving each sister a strong, clear voice and I especially enjoyed Kitty’s chapters. Kitty can’t speak but getting a glimpse inside her mind was engrossing and her frustration at being able to understand what people were saying and not being able to converse was portrayed brilliantly.

This was a read full of startling surprises, SO many and this was the rare time where they all made sense instead of the dreaded twists just for the sake of shock value. I wouldn’t necessarily describe this as fast paced, though it wasn’t exactly a slow burn either. It was somewhere in the middle I suppose with sedate moments and others where the intensity was ratcheted up several notches, a nice balance. By the time I got to the end I was desperate to know the truth about the day the accident happened and Corry even threw a few extra curveballs in that caught me off guard. Overall, a very well written and well executed psychological thriller.

Blood Sisters in three words: Skillful, Absorbing and Unexpected

“Three Little Girls. One good. One bad. One dead.”

Colour me intrigued. Blood Sisters is ultimately the story of two sisters: Alison and Kitty. Following the death of their sister in 2001, both girls are living a fractured life. Kitty is institutionalised, having suffered a brain injury at the time of the accident. While she cannot communicate, she takes on the narration of the book at times and we are able to see the world through her eyes.

Alison, who takes the wheel for the bulk of the narration, allows her guilt as "The Survivor" to seep into her daily life, punishing herself as a means of holding back her demons. When she takes on a second job as an art instructor in a prison, she begins to receive threatening letters that alert her to the fact that someone who knows what happened that day on the way to school, 15 years earlier, is watching her.

This book gets off to a slow start but when it does pick up the pace, it is pretty engrossing. Despite not warming to either Alison or Kitty, I did think the characterisation was quite skilled, and Jane Corry's portrayal of a woman living with a disability was both informed and sympathetic. The descriptions of the prison and its daily running were particularly interesting, and I found, overall, the story held my attention and left me curious for the character's fate. A well done psychological thriller and an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars.

A very contrived plot which at times just didn’t make sense. For instance, I would ask how, when the driver of a vehicle dies at the scene of a crash, the passenger can claim he was driving and be believed! But it kept me reading through all the twists and turns.

One of the Best Thrillers of 2017:
I read a lot of books. I carefully pick novels which seem by the publisher's description to appeal to me. Most of the novels I read I like. But occasionally a novel surpasses all my expectations.
The novel, "Blood Sisters" by Jane Corry did just that. It is, in my opinion one of the best novels published in 2017.
The book possesses an original plot, the narrative flows easily and just as important the author, Jane Corry, forces the reader to consider some contemporary real life issues.
It quite simply a marvellous psychological thriller with depth.
The novel is based around two sisters whose lives are torn apart by a road traffic accident on their way to a school prize giving. Their lives are never the same again. One sister, Alison, carries guilt on her shoulders for not helping her sister avoid the accident, whilst the other, Kitty suffers severe brain damage. But this was no ordinary road traffic accident.
The saying "the truth will out" applies to this book as it charts the sisters' progress as they come to terms with the past. Narrated from the perspective of both Alison and Kitty the author gradually reveals the truth of what happened that fateful day by way of flashbacks in both sisters' perspectives. This thriller takes the reader on a journey from dark to light with a core message that we all hold secrets from others for a variety of reasons: some good some bad. It easily passes the thriller hurdle with twists and turns galore. And in my opinion falls into the small pile of must read books.
The author explores the world of special needs whilst bringing prison life to our attention and considers the impact on the two families who suffered through the road traffic accident: Kitty's family and the driver's family.
"Blood Sisters" is a great read, one of those novels you have got to keep on reading till you've finished. You will not be disappointed. And you will be the better for reading it.

First of all, who could resist that tag line on the cover? Secondly, I really enjoyed My Husband's Wife and so was eager to read Jane Corry's latest offering. The blurb completely grabbed me and I just HAD to read it!!

Blood Sisters is a truly addictive read that will not fail to grip and entertain you. It's so full of twists, turns and secrets that you'll come out dizzy! Told from a dual perspective, Kitty and Alison have gone through a lot and have been torn apart by their hate for each other. It’s clear that Corry must have carried out extensive research in order to write about disability in such sensitive and informative way. Overall I enjoyed this book, it’s a bit of a slow burner at first but definitely worth carrying on with it! Four stars from purplebookstand.
