God what a book!

Has you by the balls from the very first page, the plot is simple, 3 girls set off to school and within an hour one is dead!

If that doesn't grab you I don't know what will, and then the story itself doesn't let up either, it's full of twists I was ripping my hair out at some points in sheer frustration of not knowing who was to blame.

It's told form two timelines 2001 & 2016 by the sisters Kitty and Alison, it has it all sibling rivalry, lies, deceit and betrays; it was riveting an amazing book that had you hooked right until the end and is a must read for anyone who wants to be page turning well into the night. I'm hoping to read a lot more from the author! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Psychological thrillers about sisters are popular at present, but Blood Sisters is different, as Corry's created characters out-with the norm. Kitty, severely brain damaged, confined to life in a wheel-chair, oozes personality and spirit. (The author notes reveal Corry spent time visiting head-injury centres as research.) I particularly enjoyed the conversations between Kitty and her best friend, Margaret which provided levity, in contrast to the seriousness of the main themes. We also meet Alison, an art teacher working in a men's prison, who, although unscathed physically by the childhood incident central to the story, is still damaged in her own way. An enjoyable read exploring the complex nature of sisterhood, forgiveness and revenge.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from netgalley.

If you could give halves, this would be 4.5

The book sucked me in instantly and the promise of a twist through kept me turning pages. It's the sentences like 'if only they really knew what happened' and 'they will never know my secret' that really keep you going!!

I love books with different perspectives and this was great. My concern was that the book would end with everyone being 'okay' and 'healthy' (you'll understand when you read it) and they weren't. In a way that is realistic and made the whole thing more believable.

Will be keeping an eye out for this author!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Had never read book by this author before but will certainly read again. Book is set between 2 people Alison and Kitty. It was a bit confusing at first trying to work out the connection between them. When I did very interesting story. Good the way Jane wrote about disabilities affecting the brain and the way Kitty reacted and also Alison's guilt that affected the whole of her adulthood.

Two sisters - Alison and Kitty. A tragic accident years ago leaves Kitty disabled - in a wheelchair and unable to communicate - and her best friend dead. Alison is fine on the surface. She's teaching art, struggling to make ends meet. Then she applies for a post at a prison - teaching prisoners art, and the strange calls start freaking her out.

What really happened all those years ago? Does Kitty remember? Will she ever say?

A well constructed plot, this gripping psychological thriller will have you guessing until the very end.

I enjoyed the characters and their relationships - Kitty's life inside a care home was interesting and told with empathy and understanding. Alison was mildly annoying, but this was forgiven under the circumstances.

An enjoyable day and a bit was spent on this one.

A 4* review for Blood Sisters by Jane Corry, which i was sent to my Kindle from NetGallley, thanks. The blurb reads "Three little girls set off to school one sunny May morning.
Within an hour, one of them is dead." The story is anything but straightforward and the lies and betrayals and surprises just keep on coming.

The story focuses on 2 sisters, Alison who is currently an Art Teacher and Kitty who is severely brain damaged and physically disabled and living in a care home. The story switches from time lines of 2001 when the accident happened and 2016 and the chapters are short and focus alternately on both sisters, but are beautifully written by the Author and always seem to end with a final sentence that demands that you read "just one more chapter".

It is obvious that both sisters are traumatised by the accident, with Ali self-harming with pieces of glass from her stained-glass window lessons that she teaches, struggling for money as she is paying half the care home fees and living a lonely life. She decides to take a part-time job in a Prison helping prisoners express themselves through art, but is there another reason for her wanting to help prison inmates? Kitty is unable to speak, has no memory of the accident, or her sister and her life before and exactly why she is in a care home with only Friday Mother and Half A Sister (as she comically calls them) coming to visit her. Jane Corry describes Kitty's frustrating life in a very sympathetic but realistic way and we, as the reader, get to hear her voice and thoughts, although they only come out as baby babble to everyone else. It was almost funny at times, knowing what she was trying to say and watching the carers trying to understand her and often getting it wrong! However, it was very emotional seeing everyone trying to cope with a severely disabled woman, who is still very much a child, but who falls in love with another resident with disastrous consequences.

The book starts off very slow for me in the first quarter, but once we realise there is obviously a lot more to the accident than "a car hit 2 schoolgirls" and once we go back in time to 2001 and get a glimpse of mother/daughter relationships, sibling rivalry, friends who love/hate each other alternately and crushes on the boy next door, i was really intrigued and couldn't put it down. The coincidences when the story finally comes to a conclusion are a little far-fetched for me, but it is only a story after all, so it didn't matter too much.

Sisters! they can be a blessing or a hindrance and Kitty and Alison are definitely going through a difficult time. They seem to love each other but resent the other too and I think Jane Corry is great at making you feel the love/hate relationship. Alison is the older sister and is supposed to be watching out for Kitty's safety that morning on the way to school but as usual Kitty's friend accompanies them what happens next leaves one of them dead and another totally unable to do anything for herself. Who is at fault? well it seems that even though Alison is now leading a 'normal' life she can't help but feel somehow she should have been able to save her sister. This book is very cleverly plotted out so that you are kept guessing until the very end.The narrators are a little unreliable but for me that just adds to the mystery and makes for a quite comical look on things in places but make no mistake this is a psychological thriller through and through. This is the first book I have read from Jane Corry but I will now look for more.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of the book from NetGalley

This was one of those books that once you had become involved, you couldn't put it down. Great characters, compelling story line and wonderful conclusion. What more could you want? A really good psychological thriller based around sibling rivalry.

Blood Sisters was a real page turner, such an exciting read, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I liked how the author portrayed Kitty and her thoughts and feelings living with a brain injury and the frustrations she went through, a very well written book, can't wait to read more by this author.

A great psychological thriller about two sisters who have lost a sibling in tragic circumstances. Lots of twists and turns, highly recommended

From the first to last page I found this this to be a gripping book full of twists and turns. I found it hard to put down. Based around the relationship of half-sisters Alison and Kitty this novel was full of surprises. Each chapter was written from the prespective of the sister's individual stories and how they each looked at their situation.
I am not going to write about the actual events as would not want to spoil this for anyone.
The only think I will say is that I did not see the end coming at all. A great read that I would highly recommend.

Having loved Jane Corry’s debut novel My Husband’s Wife I eagerly anticipated her second novel and I was not disappointed.

Blood sisters is told from two different perspectives. Firstly, Kitty's story which is told through her thoughts as she is unable to speak due to her disabilities caused by a childhood accident. She does not remember what caused her disabilities but then begins to have flashbacks which she tries to piece together. The second perspective is Kitty's sister Alison who is a part-time art teacher who takes a job in the local prison.

This is a clever story revealing the sisters' pasts, details of the accident and present stories. It is split between the past and present day which really adds to the suspense. So many twists and turns, it keeps you gripped throughout.

It is a little slow when getting started but once it gets going it is impossible to put down. Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good thriller with an interesting storyline. There is also a good twist at the end. Allison is a college art teacher. Kitty is Alison's half sister, she is brain damaged and lives in a care home. Vanessa was Kitty's best friend, she died 15 years ago in the car accident which caused Alison's brain damage. Alison was 16 and Kitty and Vanessa were 11 when it happened. Alison holds a secret and blames herself for the accident. She lives a very lonely life because of it. Kitty can think but not communicate, she has something she desperately wants to remember about the accident. Alison takes a job as an art teacher in a prison and her life is in danger. Why? Read on!

I loved this book! In common with other psychological thrillers it relies on a few plot constructions that stretch plausibility, but they are so deftly done that they fit well into the narrative. And when you think you know where the story is going, you realise you're not as clever as you thought and the author leads you off in another direction. I read this in a single day and was desperate to know what happened but reluctant to get to the end - my idea of a perfect book.

The story switches between 2001 when 3 girls walked to school but one ended up dying and another severely disabled... and 2016 as the two survivors face up to the events leading up to the 'accident' and the repercussions on their life since.

I liked the concept of this book and how the plot unfolded - however, for me the first half was just too slow and hard to get interested in. There was too much of Kitty who was disabled in the accident and really didnt have that much to add to the story until the second half of the book.

The end twist was good but the book could have been half the size and told the same story.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
