This is a nice start to this werewolf series. (Arctic Brotherhood). The Arctic Brotherhood started 400 years ago when they were captured and imprisoned by a wolf that held them captive and tortured them. When they used the last of their strength and courage to revolt and imprison him the Brotherhood vowed to keep the world safe from the Siberian terror. Now he is loose and threatening humankind. Elliot is reluctant to leave his safe and obscure life in Alaska but Jenny is a powerful incentive. This is a fast moving and sexy read. The characters are very likable and will encourage you to return to the series.

They are the Arctic Brotherhood.

They are deadly fighters, fierce protectors and loyal mates.

Elliott Wilder is a mild mannered Alaskan college professor. Wilder craves the things most people find boring. Seclusion. Monotony. Anonymity. But what Wilder craves most of all is the thing he can’t have… memory loss. Four hundred years ago, Wilder and the other members of the Arctic Brotherhood were captured and tortured by the leader of the Siberian werewolves. Wilder is still haunted by memories of that night, when he wasn’t able to protect his leader.

Now the Siberian wolf is on the loose and seeking revenge. Not only must Wilder lead the brotherhood, he must fight the attraction he feels toward its newest recruit, Jenny Piper. Jenny offers Wilder a glimpse of the life he can’t have. As the brotherhood races against time to save humanity from the horror their enemies unleashed on the world, Wilder must reach inside himself to find the leader the brotherhood needs and the mate Jenny craves.

Elliott is an Arctic werewolf. He was part of the Brotherhood of the Midnight Sun 400 years ago but since that time he’s been by himself. He is currently working at a university and is shocked when he meets a woman, Jenny Piper, who is an Arctic werewolf as well. He’s attracted to her but he wants nothing to do with any werewolves or pack so tries to separate himself. That lasts less than 24 hours as the leader of the Brotherhood, Gunnar, shows up to let him know that the evil Siberian wolf they had put in jail 400 years earlier has escaped and wants revenge. Elliott wants to ignore it all but he can’t when the previously imprisoned wolf attacks not only him but also Jenny.

Soon Jenny, Elliott and Gunnar are off to fight the battle between good and evil but the evil runs much deeper than any of them believed and it might take a miracle for the Brotherhood to win this battle.

Ice Wolf is the first book in the Arctic Brotherhood series. The story was fast-paced and pretty action packed from the start of the book.

I liked Elliott despite the fact that he was pretty grumpy at the beginning of the book. He soon took his place as leader of the Brotherhood and it was just what he needed in order to deal with his PTSD resulting from being tortured 400 years before. He was a good leader and I felt he did a good job.

Jenny was a fighter and I really liked her. She had a sunny disposition despite her childhood horrors and I liked her positivity and strength. She got herself into a bit of a bind during the course of the book but didn’t end up needing the hero to rescue her – she did that herself. Go Jenny!

The story was a good one, no doubt. I wish that we could have gotten to know the other members of the Brotherhood a little better. I think I would be more interested in reading their stories if I had a bit more knowledge of who they are. Yes the Brotherhood worked together in this book but it was really focused on Elliott and Jenny. If you like Norse mythology this would be a good one to pick up. These definitely aren’t your average werewolves, that’s for sure.

My first read by Ms Godman was a gripping PNR, packed with danger, intrigue and scorching passion that exploded off the pages. This series guarantees to keep readers coming back for more!

Events which occurred four hundred years ago had a dramatic impact on Elliott Wilder. He’s an Arctic wolf, one of seven members of the Arctic Brotherhood whose role is to protect werewolves. Four hundred years ago, he and the other members of the Brotherhood were captured and tortured by Siberian wolves. When the leader of the Brotherhood was almost murdered, Elliott blamed himself for not protecting their leader. He’s become a lone wolf, currently working as a college professor in Alaska, one who rarely interacts with others, has no friends and doesn’t socialise any more than he has to. When Jenny Piper turns up to speak to him, his life changes - and it isn’t totally her fault - as the leader of the Siberian wolves also returns….

This is a fast paced story, packed with paranormal and mythological characters. It has romance, peril, intrigue and magic in full measure. Elliott doesn’t feel worthy of his role in the Brotherhood, believing he had let them down four hundred years ago. Nor does he feel worthy of Jenny’s love, even though the two are attracted to each other and he’s initially determined to resist mating with her. Jenny is tough, determined, intelligent, social and faces challenges head on. The adventures as they travel to prevent the Siberian wolf and his minions succeeding in their schemes lead them into mythological realms, lethal danger, some double crossing and double dealing. It is a well paced story and I really enjoyed it.

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

Ice Wolf by Jane Godman is the 1st book in her Arctic Brotherhood series. This is a shifter series, with a new ancient species of Arctic werewolves, who are part of the 7 members of the Brotherhood of the Midnight Sun. The story begins 400 hundred years earlier, when the Siberian wolves were about to destroy the Arctic wolves; but at the last minute, the newest member of the Arctic Brotherhood managed to save his leader. Switch to the present time, and we meet Elliot Wilder, a professor who is a loner, and content to live in solitude. He is approached by someone he has not seen in 400 years, the leader of the Arctic wolves, and is asked to help gather the brotherhood together to fight someone so very evil that will destroy the world. But Wilder has no intention to go back to that life, until he meets our heroine, Jenny Piper. Jenny has always been alone, and now that she recognizes Wilder as one of her kind, she is determined to become part of a family.

Jenny is a strong heroine, a female alpha, who is accepted to the Arctic Brotherhood. Wilder immediately is attracted to Jenny, but fights off those feelings, as he hasn’t told anyone about his nightmares of the time 400 years ago. It will be Jenny who will help Wilder though those nightmares, and convince him to help his brothers, as his assistance is necessary to defeat the enemy, as humans across the world are threatened for destruction.

Wilder steps up, as he sees his Arctic brothers, and together they travel to the Land of the Midnight, where it all began to try to kill the Siberian wolf leader who is behind the threat. But as they meet the wolf goddess, they are met with some major twists that changes the game, and escalates the danger. Fenrir, the most evil and powerful wolf, has escaped his captivity, and in the guise of a cult leader, he is quickly brainwashing all humans to follow him; and then destroy them all. Can the Arctic wolves stop Fenrir in time?

What follows is an exciting adventure steeped in Norse mythology, with edge of your seat non-stop action. Wilder will step into the role of leader, especially after Jenny’s life is in danger. Jenny made a wonderful partner to Wilder, and tense exciting race to catch Fenrir brought the entire team together to try and save the world. This was an excellent start to a different shifter series, which will continue in future books, with each member of the Arctic Brotherhood taking a leading role in more upcoming dangerous missions. I loved all the characters that made this Brotherhood. I look forward to reading the next book, Shadow Wolf

An interesting concept of shifter wolves. I love how Jane Goodman wrapped her novels into the Nordic mythology history and the concept of Arctic Werewolves was also interesting. A bit of the logic behind Arctic wolves was baffling, but I think mostly because I've never heard of the concept of the midnight sun. I did really like Elliot and Jenny even though Jenny's character was bit underdeveloped and rushed. Elliot and the Brotherhood seemed to be the driving focus of the novel and were excellently portrayed though.

Interesting story of wolf shifters, with a mixture of little known Norse legends and gods. I liked the idea of the brotherhood, and I liked the main characters, especially Jenny, but the background of legends seemed a little didactic at times. More action and less history would have made a stronger book, for my taste anyway. Would still recommend this one though, and hopefully the second in the series is more action and less lecture.

This is the first time I have tried this author. It is the first book in a series and what caught my eye was the cover. After the cover caught my eye, I decided to read the description which interested me enough to try it. I must say I am very happy I chose to read this book. I look forward to continuing with the rest of the series.

The characters are well developed and the plot is intriguing. It was a fast paced book that went quickly. While some parts of the story are predictable it throws a few curves at you. The book concludes nicely and allows you to be able to end with this story if you choose to. However, the ending does make you interested to see what will come next for the characters.

I was pleasantly surprised by this read. With fluid writing and a unique take on the lore, ICE WOLF takes the legends of werewolves on an exciting new journey. Shifting is usually influenced by the moon, but these are Arctic wolves who have an innate relationship with the Arctic midnight sun, when they can shift and their immortality is vulnerable. I loved the play on the Norse mythology and I really enjoyed getting to know these wonderful characters.

Elliott Wilder, now a mild mannered professor at the University of Alaska, was once a brave young warrior. But for four hundred years, Wilder has been hiding a painful past. Long ago, Santin, a rogue Siberian wolf and his vicious pack, hunted the Arctic wolves, killing and plundering, requiring the Arctic Brotherhood to be called into action to protect their brethren and their lands. Wilder was part of that brotherhood and on the eve of Santin’s downfall, he and his six brothers were captured and tortured, though ultimately victorious thanks to Wilder’s bravery. However, Wilder bears the guilt and emotional scars of that horrific night and has vowed to be alone and a detached observer of life for the rest of his immortal days.

But now, Santin has escaped his prison and the brotherhood is called back into action, with Wilder being their leader. Only he doesn’t want to lead, he doesn’t want the responsibility and he doesn’t want to fall in love with the beautiful new addition to their alliance.

Wilder and Jenny were great together. I enjoyed their push-pull and I liked seeing Wilder succumb to the love waiting for him. I also really enjoyed Jenny’s force of nature and her determination to be equal in the brotherhood.

I did think the climax was lacking a bit though. There was this huge lead up to how formidable Fenrir would be, but his recapture and imprisonment seemed almost too easy. I know he will probably be the reigning bad guy throughout this series, so I’m sure he’ll find his way out again or at least have his minions do his bidding, but I was hoping for more from the climax. The fight was short and I expected there to be more fallout from their public confrontation.

All in all, it was a great read. I’m looking forward to reading about more of the brothers and who their mates will be.

Elliot Wilder is part of an ancient and noble race. A unique and exquisite breed of Arctic Wolf shape-shifter, bred to live, love, fight, and die in the land of the Midnight Sun. Moreover, Wilder is one of seven chosen, groomed and sworn to protect and defend his people as part of the elite Arctic Brotherhood.

But Wilder is a man haunted by his time in battle. A man content to spend his days hunting through academic texts and chasing wayward students, in his new role as Professor Of Arctic Anthropology at the University Of Alaska. A man determined to stay as far away from the battles of his past, as time and distance will allow.
Unfortunately, he will soon learn that no distance is great enough. No amount of time long enough when a ancient nemesis, who he was sure would remain the stuff of nightmares, makes himself and his thirst for revenge known in an extremely tangible way.

As if simply being summoned to settle a 400 year old grudge match while ensuring the safety of the world is not enough. Things become very personal when the leader of the Arctic Brotherhood, and the man whose life Wilder saved during the last battle, Gunnar, just happens to be the one doing the summoning.

But wait, there's more!
Yes. There is more!
This more comes in the form of a certain female Arctic wolf, Jenny. Who not only manages to make herself an invaluable part of the Brotherhood. But who also becomes a most important part of Wilder's life.

This first book in the Arctic Brotherhood series offers readers a new and fantastical branch of the wolf shifter sub-genre. Bringing together all of the familiar passion, warfare, and edge of your seat action that Urban Fantasy/Contemporary Paranormal Romance is known for; with the very specific compliment of Norse mythos and lore. The result being a complete and solid foundation for a limitless new shifterverse.

Making this first story all the more enjoyable is the perfect balance that authoress, Jane Goodman, manages to achieve between action, character development/interaction, setting, and the all important romantic entanglement. Ms. Goodman is very careful to blend all of these most important elements seamlessly. While still managing to maintain a relatability between her characters and her audience that makes this book a joy to read.

Ice Wolf is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!

If you like your characters ALPHA!
Your action AWESOME!
Your romance ALL ENCOMPASSING!
Your setting ALL WINTER!

You will adore all of ICE WOLF!

*Reviewer's Note: Ice Wolf is the first book in a related companion series which may be read individually, or as part of its intended series.

HOT,HOT HOT, and the story was good too! Wilder was the hot professor and a wolf and Jenny was a kick ass alpha wolf, great basis for a story, what more could you ask for. I loved that the female got to join the brotherhood and be strong member, so many authors write stories with weak heroines and I hate it.
