With Aven Dalmarta now hiding in the shadows of Meya, Alex is desperate to save Jordan and keep the Rebel Prince from taking more lives.
Training day and night to master the enhanced immortal blood in her veins, Alex undertakes a dangerous Meyarin warrior trial that separates her from those she loves and leaves her stranded in a place where nothing is as it should be.
As friends become enemies and enemies become friends, Alex must decide who to trust as powerful new allies—and adversaries—push her towards a future of either light… or darkness.
What can I say about this book except wow. I loved the first 2 so much but this one was even better than them. Knowing I have to wait for the next book in the series makes me really sad. I loved reading about Alexs new adventure and how time travel came into play in this book. I don't want to say to much about this book as a lot of the story will give spoilers.
I loved reading about a younger Roka, Aven and Niyx and meeting Xiraxus. I have to say Niyx surprised me in this book and I loved how Lynette Noni made everything I thought I knew about this series and switched it up. I can not wait for the next book and see what happens next in this series.
The only thing that I was sad about when it comes to this book was not having more of D.C, Bear and Jordan in the story, I missed reading about them and the school (I have to admit I wish I went to that school myself)
I ended up rating this book 5 out of 5 stars, this book has become one of my favourite series I have found this year.

OMG that ending was great and awful at the same time!!! I don't want to wait till February to see how this ends!
Ok, now craziness aside, this book was great, because we get to know why it all happened in the past, and wow did it get me dizzy! I loved getting to know the much younger mereyans , especially Niyx, which was a surprise.
I want to finish this review by saying that if you don't like cliffhangers, you're going to be mad at the end :)
The third book in this series and I'm still hooked! This particular story takes the reader away from the now familiar halls of Akarnae, to the newly discovered Lost City of Meya. The true reason Alex's nemesis Aven is the crazy psychopath we hate and adore is revealed. I will say I wasn't as completely enraptured by this book as the first two, thus only three stars. There's a disruption in the flow of events from the previous books since we hop back in time on a dragon- cause why not... And much to my dismay, the beloved faces of Dix and Bear were incognito. I suppose the backstory of our villain does warrant its own book, but I was rather disappointed since it felt like we weren't even properly acquainted with the rules of the human populace of Medora before we were thrown a whole new set of rules that seem incongruent from what we previously learned. There were some definite weak spots in the world building, and it seems like there were additions made just for the sake of validating hastily tacked on rules. I also thought the reason why Aven is evil was shallow and not really justifiable, at least given what we have to work with thus far. Other than that, the story and flow of the writing was still great, and I couldn't put it down. Some parts were a little cheeseball but not gag worthy by any means. And although not my favorite book of the series I'm very excited to see how the rest of it goes! I really, really can't wait for the next book to be out!
4,5 stars
Very intense and darker than the last two books. A lot of new information is coming our way, more worldbuilding which I appreciated. You also see some characters from very different angles this time which was very interesting and added to their depths and complexity. Half of the cast is missing, though. I understand why, but still, I missed them heavily. There is a new race we learn about and I wished we would have seen more of them. But man, that ending! I need the next book right now. I am not able to properly process my emotions at this moment but what I know for sure is that with every book this series just gets better and better!
A fantastic high fantasy middle grade series, which is just as enjoyable for adults too! I can't wait to get my hands on book 4!
Received from NetGalley 'Read Now'. 'Akarnae' arrived in a choppy format and I am unable to read. Sentences are cut off mid-way and other sentences start half-way into something (different.) Impossible to string together a coherent paragraph. Please set up 'Akarnae' with a new format and send, if possible. Cannot read 'Draekora' without reading book 1 of this series.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Alex is still trying to get home.
In this book, Alex is training to get stronger + trying to learn more about her abilities.
She needs to get better in order to defeat Aven.
The author does it again.
I am enjoying reading about Alex's journey.
There are new twists + turn in this installment.
I can't wait to ready book 4
This book was so fantastical! I read this first and it took me a bit to figure everything out but it was still an amazing read. I absolutely plan to read the first 2. The heroine is written so well. I love the mystical element to the story. The story lines were very intriguing. Many of the characters were an enigma to me; waiting to find out if there were good or bad. I enjoyed the writing style of Lynette Noni very much. I am looking forward to book 4.
Amazing storytelling despite a few elements of predictability the story stuck with me long after I was done reading.
This book made me love the supporting characters (which spanned the meyans)! We get to get a glimpse of how normal life Medora was before Aven disrupted everything...and best of all getting to see the shift of character in Aven firsthand...and it was pretty well done, if though a bit predictable to me. The way the story began to descended into a darker atmosphere as we are being lead into a seemingly inevitable was intriguing and well developed.
I was full of emotions as we strode to what would be the breaking point of the once perfect Meya and it did not disappoint me...tearfully. And then there’s a whirlpool of events that take place in the present it felt me dizzy (in a good way) and I wondered - worried how Alex would sort her way through but Alex is a remarkably strong character and we do see her grow in this book and by then its promising that the next sequel will not disappoint.
And no I haven’t forgotten the Draekons...Xira reminded me so much of Toothless in some way...maybe his adorability. And how Alex and even me chummied up with him from the start. Lynette Noni knows how to portray friendship so beautifully its leaves me all warm and fuzzy!
Brilliant. This series goes from strength to strength. Nice bit of foreshadowing with the queen's comments but yet I was still shocked when everything kicked off. Great to get back story. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
"[n]ever forget that you are stronger than you realise and more capable than you could ever imagine." - Draekora by Lynette Noni
This book absolutely slayed me because I loved Raelia, but Draekora just took the story to a whole new level and went turbo. My immediate thoughts after reading this book was that I was not psychologically prepared for where it was taking me. It's so good guys! It's darker, surprising, more plot twists, back stories, adventure and so much more that if I say anymore it would be a spoiler! It's the most ambitious of all three books in the Medoran Chronicles due to the premise, plot, character development, and world building. This story has all the feels, and parts which just broke me because by now you're in love with the characters and seriously invested. So I can't recommend this book enough, please read it and let us know what you think! I will probably have to re read this before Graevale next year!
Cover Art:
This is my favourite cover so far! It is so gorgeous and just makes me want to go buy a copy for myself! Which I will do eventually! But this cover is gorgeous! The colours, the floating islands & a fucking DRAGON!! Or should I say Draekon???? I can't wait to get my hands on the whole set as they are all so gorgeous and I'm so keen to see what the cover of Graevale!
Writing:
I still love the easy flow that these books have! The world building in these books is absolutely amazing and even though it is a high fantasy complex world I found it really well explained and was easy to keep up with. I'm never confused about these books as everything is always explained so well and each book rounds off nicely so that at the end you aren't sitting with so many questions you don't even know what to feel. I really love the writing of this book for that reason as there is nothing worse than finishing a book and being more confused than when you started.
In this one, I did really enjoy the incorporation of the Meyarin language in it was really interesting! I also really enjoyed that all of the Meyarin words were translated or, if they couldn't be translated into English, there meaning it was explained!
I also am still enjoying the very little romance in this series. There is a romance of sorts that plays out in this book but it was directly related to the plot but it wasn't really a romance as it was completely one sided. Don't worry that isn't actually a spoiler as it's straight out obvious if you know the characters or the plot of the previous books.
Plot:
This book is definitely my favourite so far! There is so much that happens in this book and I can't even begin to explain why I love this so much, it's just so epic and so unexpected! But just know there is time travel, Dragons, new friendships and so many damn twists and turns that I'm still kinda in shock.
Characters:
Okay, so there really isn't much I can say about the characters in the book without giving away part of the plot, so if you don't want spoilers then please skip to the 'overall' section.
I love Alex, she is such a badass female character that is just trying to do the right thing and save as many people as she can! Her development in this book was really important as we see her interact with the past version of her friends and enemies and allow herself to realise the reasons those people are the way they are in the time she knows.
It was fun meeting Roka, Kyia, Zain, King Astophe & Queen Niida again! It was fun watching Roka & Kia bicker when you knew how they would turn out in the end. I also really enjoyed just seeing everyone's back story, even if it was only a couple weeks of it. Learning about them and how they developed into the people we know was really interesting.
I also really enjoyed Niyx as a character, he was so passionate and caring in this book and learning the real him and the truth about him was awesome. I'm so keen to see what happens with him in the next book thanks to that abrupt twist we had right at the end there after thinking again that he really was the bad guy.
Aven, this is a hard one to talk about as you know in your head the entire time what he is going to become but you can't help to kinda like and sympathise with him in this book. But you are still sitting there waiting for whatever it is to click and for all hell to break loose.
The last character I want to talk about is actually our loveable teenage Draekon, Xiraxus. I loved Xira, he was so fun and really showed sometimes that he is in fact only a teenager but also when he needed to be he was serious and caring. I think Xira is my new favourite character and I really hope we see more of him and Draekons in general in the last book.
Overall:
I love this book and this series! Definitely a new favourite series! The high fantasy world created in these books is just amazing, the characters are everything and the plot is just straight out epic. I can't wait for book 4, Graevale to release!
When I originally requested this book in NetGalley, I had not realized it was part of a series. Thankfully as it had already been released when I downloaded it, I figured I would take the time to read the first two books (obviously), so that I knew what I was in for.
To catch everyone up to speed, the first book Akarnae (pronounced uh-car-nay) introduces us to our MC -- 16 year old Alexandra "Alex" Jennings who by chance steps into another world, Medora. The only person who can help her is a professor who has gone missing, so she is stuck in Akarnae Academy which is a boarding school not unlike Hogwarts. (It's hard not to draw the comparison.) I did like, however, that the school is in a world that is more apt with technology, so it doesn't have the same feel as a wizard castle in England (just saying!). Another plus point for me is that she made friends with two male teens and there was no romantic entanglement.
Anyway, the first book had a great start and a middle grade / YA crossover appeal. Definitely aimed at younger teens. In the second book, Raelia, she crosses over into Medora again for her second year of school. But this time she has a man out for her -- Aven Dalmarta, a banished prince from a lost city. This book has a lot more adventure and a lot less day-to-day life at the academy type stuff. But there's still plenty of the academy too. The author shares lots of information to help you along the way, as you are learning things as Alex is learning them too. I can't really talk about the ending of this one because there is a cliffhanger ending. But again, lots of adventure in this second book!
So now onto the third book, Draekora, which is the subject of this review. Alex is putting herself to the test on all fronts to master her skills. This new book is to me a little akin to Star Wars wherein Luke is battling to figure out if he is a Jedi or a Sith, and how much darkness or light is within him. Ultimately it is a choice, and that choice will change everything about who can be trusted, who is a friend, and who is the true enemy. But all other Star Wars connections aside, this book again is very high on adventure. And although the floating islands and dragons (draekon) were a little akin to Avatar's Pandora (where they were called floating mountains, I believe, and the dragons were banshees), it still lends itself to a beautiful well-crafted world that didn't feel all too borrowed.
This is also the first book with a potential love interest for Alex, which makes sense as she is growing up. Noni's more apt to show rather than tell, as she did in earlier books, and her hand is much more practiced at weaving the storylines together. Which is rather important as there are more and more characters involved and many things to keep track of. It is definitely the strongest book in the series so far, and as far as I'm aware, there is at least one more book to go.
I think this series is good for fans of Percy Jackson, especially, and some fans of HP or high fantasy. There is a lot going on, but the third book really pulls everything together. 3.5/5.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.
Draekora is the third installment in 'The Medoran Chronicles'. I would like to begin this review by saying that this book is not perfect. Draekora does have its flaws however, I would like to give it 3.5 stars because of how the ending was able to give meaning to the events in the story leading up to it.
When I first begun reading Draekora, I felt skeptical about what was happening and why it had any relevance to the story. To me, the turn of events had absolutely nothing to do with the plot and was just a waste of time. The actual Draekons felt like a very forced and unnecessary move. Alex could have easily gotten to wherever she does via the library.
HOWEVER, I really loved how the author's sense of humor though out the book and was laughing the whole time. She was able to turn a what would have been into a very dull book into something very enjoyable so claps to the author!
Truly a captivating and adventure packed story, Alex is an intelligent and bright young woman who was chosen and given a mammoth task of saving the ones she love and the, as she knows it, for her task to be successful she will be transported to the past to see how such a damning catastrophe started. She was in a stupor after finding out that she had the blood of the Meyarins flowing inside of her. With these superpower abilities she gained, her task should be much easier you would think but no she is a pawn being shuffled all over the board. Alex needs to find the root of this evil, she needs to find out how and why began to be able to successfully defeat it, but imagined her surprise when she found out that she was the cause of Prince Aven turning evil, this knowledge put more pressure on her for now she had to stop him before everything and everyone she knows and love is lost to her. This book is packed filled with exciting and fearsome adventures mixed with a hint of romance, these special blends gave the book it’s identity and character, I didn’t expect to like this book when I saw the cover but to my amazement I enjoyed it, this author has converted me to her style great job.
I decided to not review this book to the fullest since I just found out it is the third book in a series I have not yet read. So far I was really loving the setting, and the writing, but I was having trouble understanding the plot line a little bit, which bothered me... now I know why, I had not read the first two books. I will definitely recommend this to anyone who ask and have read it. The chapters that I got to read really drawn me, the world building was made beautifully, which is important in stories like this.
Oh wow, this was a great read. Defiantly going to check out the other books in this series. I really liked the world creating and the characters. I found myself at the end wondering about how they ended up where they are at in this story. I would stay this isn't a standalone, but I did enjoy it.
Kept hearing about the series via little book owl on YouTube. She recommended this series several times, I was not disappointed
5/5
God, how I hate reading unfinished series! And it was as if it wasn't enough that the second book, Raelia, was heart wrenching at the end, this one had to be doubly so. This is the third book in the The Medoran Chronicles series, Draekora.
Don't get me wrong, this book was amazing, extremely well written, can't really find anything wrong with it. It shed some light on some questions you might have had while reading the first two books while still progressing with the story. Sure, over 70% of the book was mainly focused on Alex, but it had to be. Without what she was going through during these 70% nothing would make so much sense.
The story had to have her as the main focus, had to show how it all became, there was no other way! You may think that just because only Alex and the Meyarin characters were the focus of this book it may not be as good, but you would be wrong. It has so much character, it is so emotionally challenging and deep.
In this book you see the past, and how it came to be the present. You find new characters to love and respect, as well as cry for. You envy the bond between some of the characters, wishing it for yourself. The fact that so many of the main characters are not mentioned in this book, will only make you beg to know what came of them, how they fare, and how they will proceed with the new developments that have arisen.
This book ends with a crying moment (won't say if it is a happy or sad type of crying because it would be a spoiler), but lets just say that the ending was the opposite of the beginning. At the end, you will wish for a continuation, and (this is unusual for me) a conclusion. Not that I wouldn't read a fifth book, I would, but it feels as if it would be a stretching of the story, when it could already end (one example is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, it could have ended in the 5th book and it would have been great, but as long as Lynette Noni does the same as Sarah J. Maas, and somehow makes it as if you have to read the sequel, I would continue without complains).
