A sneak peek of this bookwas definitely no enough! I was finished with it fairly quickly and I can't wait to read the rest of it.

This is a historical fiction novel about Elizabeth Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton, and how they came to be married. The Netgalley sample I received was only for 4 chapters, but I finished it on audiobook, so here are my thoughts:

In the early chapters, I realized that the author stated that they had maids or servants, and ignored the presence of slavery in the time period. I looked further into it, and the Schuyler's definitely had slaves. This felt very inauthentic, and though it was not the point of the novel, it glazed over a very real part of the United States History.

The author said she made it historically accurate to a point, and it definitely felt like that. I really appreciated how the characters talked, and how it sounded like they belonged to a previous time period. Also, it was really cool that the author based the story on real people in US history. t was a cute, fluffy novel imagining Alex and Eliza's courtship and the challenges they must have faced due to their differences in status. I enjoyed how Eliza is portrayed passionate about the Revolution and helping the troops of the colonies, and I also enjoyed the portrayal of Peggy and Angelica, though I wish they had been more present in the novel. Perhaps they will be in the sequel? I gave this 3/5 stars.

I didn't get far since I'm not a huge fan of sneak peeks tbh because once I start a book and the story is intriguing enough, I want to keep going. So it's not like it was bad it was really good and can't wait to read the rest of it one day! :D with so many books out there and ones I'm reading at the moment I don't want to risk getting jumped into a new book and then wanting more! (plus my limit of books to read at the same time is 3-5 books and I already have 5 going. so one day I'll read this! I haven't seen Hamilton but have heard the soundtrack and think for a YA version of these two is a great idea! :D

I cannot review the whole book as I did not have a complete copy to review.. The sample was not bad and I would enjoy reading the entire book.

Great sneak peek! As someone who's a huge fan of Hamilton, I will literally pick up anything that has to do with it. I will definitely be purchasing the finished copy of this and I cannot wait to dive back into this world.

An interesting peak at this book, I am looking forward to reading the whole book to see what happens with the characters. The author is extremely vivid in her descriptions, so much so that you can imagine yourself as part of the scenery, watching from the sidelines!

Historical Fiction is not my thing, but I could see this being a great way to get readers to try something new. Because this book is about such a popular character in pop culture, it's likely to hook readers who otherwise are likely to steer clear of historical fiction, like me.

Good but not great, even when taking into consideration that it's both historical romance and YA. The characters felt a bit flat to me.

Excellent (de la Cruz usualy is), but disappointed I didn't pay attention and realize it was a sneak peak and not the entire book! Moving this to my TBR list asap!

Well I just finished reading the sneak peek, and I'm not mad at it! I'll have to refrain from saying anything more until I read the rest of the book, but I think I'm going to like it!

When I received the e-mail about the release of this book, and the offer of a preview, I was...concerned. I enjoyed the Hamilton musical quite a lot, and genuinely do want to know more about this circle of human beings, outside of dry history books.

But YA romance is not. my. jam. To put it mildly.

I waffled a bit, and finally decided I couldn't pass it over.

I really, really want to read this now.

Even in the preview, I managed to trip and faceplant over YA ham handedness.

"Oh, Eliza, your lack of vanity is sweet, but one day you must let us help you shine."

I almost gave up the ghost right then and there, for fear of scratching my eyeballs from rolling them so hard.

But what won this little book over for me is a fantastic scene between Alexander Hamilton and all three Schuyler sisters. He's flirting and exaggerating quite heavily to a gaggle of women at the ball, and all three sisters walk up and call him out on it.

It's an easy, bouncing, rolling crescendo of insult and wit, and dear god, it is magnificent.

If this is a sign of what the rest of the book is like, count me in. I'm reading it.

Oh, but as an aside? I'm going to get REALLY freaking annoyed at having the Hamilton soundtrack stuck in my head for the entire read.

This is my first book by Melissa de la Cruz, and it was only a sneak peek, so forgive me if I'm still getting used to her writing. I'm still not entirely sure if it's 100% my cup of tea, and because her book is a new take on a story I am already familiar with (not just through the musical Hamilton, but also through independent reading of various history books or Hamilton biographies), I had a bit of a hard time getting into it. I do believe that, were I not already familiar with the characters and their story I would have enjoyed it much, much more. That's not to say that this is by any means a bad or unworthy of your time book, but it's still one I'm hesitant to read. I, however, enjoyed her fresh take and the new point of view she offered through her story and perhaps I'll come back to it at a different point in my life.

I've been addicted to the Hamilton soundtrack for the last few months so when I saw this I thought it would be an interesting read. I've enjoyed this sneak peek and I'll definitely be getting this book when it comes out. I'm looking forward to reading more about these characters.

This sneak peek was intriguing and gave enough backstory to make it really interesting. Eliza and Alex had an awkward first meeting and this sneak peek left me wanting more. It was great insight into both characters and their family histories. I will read the book at some point after it comes out.

This is not a true review since I only was able to read a sneak peek. But based on the first 46 pages, I fell instantly in love with the book. There's so much history interwoven into the story, and I'm drawn to the characters. I can't wait for this book to publish!!
