I would have rated this book a 5 star if the ending was different. I am not a fan of cliffhangers and this was just not an ending I was expecting or was thrilled to read. I love this town and the people in it who rallied about Lake and her dad and this brewery. I love how much she was involved in the brew process and reading these fun, new flavors of beer. Loved the names of the brews and the stories behind each brew. Best part when they did the tasting sample and went through the names and meanings behind each beer. The relationship with the girls is so fun and just makes this story fun and adds a flirty fell to the book. Overall, fun read and just makes you want to go have a brew!
I was ready to give this book a solid four star but then I reached the end. Normally, I'm not a cliffhanger reader at all...AT ALL! But there was something about the writing that gave me hope. The main characters, Lake and Walsh had difficult childhoods to say the least but the way they overcame it just proved the author, whom I've never read before knows what they're doing. So I'm holding out hope that book two will resolve the ending and bring continued happier times for Lake and Walsh.
There was a prequel on the author's site that I had not read but I believe it gives back story to the brewery. I'll pick it up eventually but overall I'm really happy with this story and look forward to book two in the series.
Did it really have to end with a cliffy??? It was all going so great and I was really into this book! Watching the enemies to lovers relationship build...I loved it! I was really let down because I felt it would have been so much bettter with a HEA with a epilogue of what is to come next. I will be getting the next book just so I can follow along to see what the author comes out with.
This book was sweet and the bickering between Lake and Walsh was well written. I could really relate to Lake hating anything that smells like a lie. I loved watching them fight for the pub.
Please make book 2 really worth it! Especailly since you left us with such a cliffy!
Deliciously Smooth is deliciously sexy, sweet and a tad emotional. Lake has taken over her late father's brewery, the brewery that is her passion. But, it needs serious help, financially, if it's to make it, as her father's managerial style had been rather lackadaisical. In swoops Walsh with an offer to buy Naked Brews. Their very first meeting has the sparks flying, not the least because they have a serious attraction to each other. Walsh has a big secret, though, and when Lake finds out what that secret is...oh damn, I just knew the shit was going to hit the fan and it did!
I love Lake and Walsh. Their chemistry is sizzling and each has emotional issues that make for an interesting combination. Walsh had a horrible childhood and Lake's wasn't a cakewalk either. Their pasts have certainly informed their present and each is working with inner demons, especially Walsh. Walsh is so sexy, and a little damaged so that I just wanted to give him a big hug! Lake is feisty and independent, almost abrasive at times. She certainly was abrasive during their first meeting. But, in her defense, Walsh blindsided her with his "offer" and she had just found out that she wasn't the true owner of her brewery. Yikes!
I would have given Deliciously Smooth 5 stars if the epilogue hadn't about killed me. Seriously, what was KB Jacobs thinking?!? Talk about gutting me. Epilogues are supposed to give us a hopeful look into the couple's future, so we can see how well they're doing. They are NOT supposed to make us cry or worry!!!!
All was going so good with this one. Liked the writing. Liked the characters. Loved the setting. Premise was great. Slow burn on the enemies to lovers relationship. A bit of suspense thrown in for fun. But, GAH! The ending??!! Really? It did not need a cliff hanger, especially not that kind of a doozy. I get that it can be motivation to read the next book. But honestly, I think it read better as the HEA wrapped up. Lovers were forgiven and reunited. If you need to, through in an epilogue with a sneak peek at what might be coming. Turned a great read into a kind of...meh..... because of the end.
You know, I really wanted to like this book. I gave it a fighting chance, I love Walsh, he's wonderful and I'm sort of bummed that I won't get to read the rest of his story and the premise behind his charity but Lake and her beer was just too boring. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.
I loved this book, kept me interested the whole time. Lake loves her fathers business Naked Brews, and when he dies, she takes over along with her two best friends. Things are going a little rough, but they get worse when she finds out that she is not the owner, but it is left to her mother whom she hates because she had abandoned her and her father, when she was nine years old. Walsh is impersonating his best friend Damien as president of the charity they run. As he goes to purchase Naked Brews, he and Lake start off arguing, but it is due to attraction, of course they fall in love, but Walsh does not tell her the truth. When he planned on telling her she unfortunately, found out before and breaks up with him. You should read it, there is so much to keep you interested, Walsh's poor history, the sabotage going on in Naked Brews. I did not like ending, but it will definitely make me read it.
