All hail the queen of the Manhatten romance...Ms. Lauren Layne! Charming, beautiful, and perfectly ridiculous socialite, Georgie vs. Stodgy, regimented, but oh so sexy high-powered attorney, Andrew. Meet your new favorite sexy frenemy romance, with an ode to the movie, Enchanted. However, as I pictured Georgie and Andrew, I totally envision Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy.

Just loved Georgie...she was warm and lovely and unapologetic for being who she was and I love the author for that. So many writers would make the story about making the "socialite" a more serious human or some nonsense like that...but we got to know and love Georgie throughout the story and she never changed who she was. She was perfectly ridiculous in the most fabulous way and she made Andrew a better man. The story was super sexy and I couldn't wait for these two to finally come together. They have definitely proven that opposites do indeed attract.

I received a copy of this title from the author in exchange for an honest review

This book was absolutely "Perfectly Ridiculous" and made me smile constantly while my heart beat like a giddy school girl. I'm gushing absolutely gushing.

Andrew and Georgiana I absolutely loved them, complete opposites. Andrew, the smart attorney always serious and Georgiana the bubbly socialite. Their banter back and forth was so entertaining.

Andrew was endearing even though he was definitely guarded, a little bit stiff. The way he would say her name made me have goosebumps every single time.

Georgiana she was a little firecracker, always with the verbal sparring always wanting to get under his skin and get a reaction out of him.

This was a slow burn and these two were so stubborn at times, they made me chuckle though dancing around each other which while at times was frustrating I knew that it would be soooo good when they finally got together and that first kiss was just AHHHHHHHH SOOO GOOD. I pumped my fists into the air.

So many moments between these two that had me smiling so much I thought my face was going to permanently freeze in a state of giddiness. I loved absolutely everything about this book. It had everything that I look for in a romance from laughter, to swoony moments mixed in with a little bi of angst that will have your heart pound.

Georgie is an heiress who loves to party and Andrew is a famous divorce lawyer who has seen the worst side of love. They live in the same building so they run into each other often especially because Georgie does it on purpose. The best entertainment of the day for Georgie is when she sees Andrew every morning and tries to get a rise out of him. Andrew is so serious and stern that Georgie just can't help herself. Cute funny hot romance at its best.

Awww this was sweet and funny and such a perfect weekend read. Lauren Layne is quickly working her way up my favorite author list. I think it was romance at it's finest.

Socialite Georgiana Watkins, or Georgie to her friends, runs into stodgy Andrew Mulroney, Esquire every morning at 5 am...he's leaving to work out, she's coming in from a night of partying. They always trade barbs and Georgie finds herself wondering why he doesn't like her and why she even cares. The barbs coming from Andrew aren't necessarily because he doesn't like her, he just doesn't know what to do with her and is a little awkward. Their fledgling friendship turns into more, but will it last with them being such complete opposites?

Georgie was funny and witty and so likable. She was happy and wanted everyone to be happy too. Andrew was a little awkward because he was super smart and he really had no clue how to deal with Georgie since she was so different from him. He just knew she would be trouble for him so he tried to push her away. They were really great together.

Like I said, this was pure romance. There was a little conflict above and beyond their initial antagonism of each other, but nothing that they couldn't get over rather quickly. I loved the light feeling of this story :)

4.5 Stars - Top Pick

The minute I read the blurb of this book, I wanted to read it. Was dying to read it. I thought, you can’t go wrong pitting a spoiled heiress—and I mean spoiled in the best way possible—against a stodgy, workaholic, high-profile divorce attorney. And my pitting, I mean make them the heroine and hero of the book. Of course I was right. Georgiana Watkins and Andrew Mulroney belong together. It simply takes the better part of Walk of Shame to figure it out.

There’s nothing not to love about Georgie and first-person narration. She’s both infinitely relatable and lovable. Not one to take herself too seriously—or life—she’s not embarrassed or ashamed of her money and lifestyle. Yes, there are moments when she wonders if she should be doing more with her life. She’s involved with several charities but she doesn’t have a nine-to-five job and she parties many nights a week to the early offers of the morning. The latter is the person Andrew sees.

The two have this ritual. She returns to the apartment where they both live at 5:00 AM bearing donuts for the concierge/security guard Ramon. Andrew is down in the lobby at the exact same time, dressed for his daily workout. They exchange words and barbs—much of it sarcastic—and then go on with their day. They both moved in on the same day and because of fight over whose movers had access to the loading dock, they didn’t get off to particularly good start. But you know the deal, they bring out something in each other. Hence the daily 5:00 AM meetups.

There’s nothing I love better than this kind of conflict and tension. They’re not really antagonistic toward each other. Georgie teases him—sometimes mercilessly—and he’s formal and at times comes across as a humorless curmudgeon. Brood, baby, brood. I’m all for that. I love watching a hero come undone bit by bit. I also love getting into their heads—as in POV—to know what they’re thinking. I wasn’t sure I would see that with Andrew. His POV isn’t introduced until around 20% in and is peppered throughout the rest of the story.

Back to their daily morning meetups. This is basically the only time they’ve ever seen each other. Sometimes they pass like ships in the evening, Georgie going out and Andrew returning from work. Things between them change when she happens to see him out in the wild at a bar…with a woman Georgie knows. After Georgie deduces he’s there on business, she’s hurt when he pretends not to know her.

He laughs at something she says, and my world tilts sideways, just for a moment. I don’t know what to do with laughing, smiling, charming Andrew Mulroney.

Why can’t I coax that from him?
Why do I want to?

I’ll figure it out later. When I’m plotting my revenge.

Things start clicking from then onward, the two meeting up with each outside of their daily routine. Sparks. More tension. Extra heavy on the sexual part. Throw in a healthy dose of jealousy and pride, and we’re off. I truly loved watching these two get together. I savored it, and then I read it again.

Watch for Georgie’s family issues to take center stage for a wee bit. In a similar—but not—vein, Andrew’s brother and sister-in-law have a small side story that is bound to swell your heart. They’re not in the story a lot but their struggle does make an impact on it.

I won’t spoil the ending, but I will say that it has a lovely fairytale feel to it. You’ll know what I mean when you read it. It’s quite enchanting and left me smiling (and sort of chuckling) from ear to ear long after I put the book down. And because I’m a sucker for epilogues, I was more than happy to see how Georgie and Andrew fared in the future. Sigh. I’m going to miss them and am eagerly looking forward to what Lauren Layne has in store next.

4.5 Stars!! This “opposites attract” story is fun, sweet, and sexy. It’s the epitome of a well-rounded rom com. Georgie and Andrew could not be any more different. She’s a sassy, sparkly, rich socialite who parties all night and he’s a quiet, serious divorce attorney whose life is rigid and structured. She dislikes him…he finds her ridiculous. So, you know what that means…reluctant but steamy sexual attraction. These two are absolutely adorable in their lusty confusion and their hesitant surrender to the inevitable.

These two are smart and quick-witted. Their banter is fun and hearing the story from both points of view gives the reader the best of both worlds. Although I’m not a socialite myself (and I may have rolled my eyes a couple of times at her antics), I still enjoyed Georgie very much and could relate to her on some level. I loved the fact that she lived her life unapologetically. Yes, she’s a rich, cute, party girl…take her or leave her. She’s not going to change for anyone but herself. As a matter of fact, her “I’ve got to be me” attitude made me like her more and more as the story progressed. Andrew was smart, sexy, and yet socially awkward in the beginning. But, seriously…it’s such an endearing combination. He won me over from the very first “ridiculous”! He’s got a good heart and Georgie shows him it’s ok to rely on it instead of just his big brain sometimes. He’s definitely swoonworthy and will make your heart beat just a little bit faster. Their chemistry was wonderful and their push and pull was endearing.

The bottom line here is that this is the book for you if you’re looking for a sweet romance with minimal angst. The story will leave you with a smile on your face and a happy heart. Georgie and Andrew will have you believing that love can conquer all and that when it’s right, it’s right…no matter the differences, the heart will win out. And, if you love love like I do, this is a very good thing. Enjoy!!

I really tried to like this story because I like this author but I found myself annoyed with the female character. I rolled my eyes so many times that I thought they would get stuck in the back of my head. So therefore I didn't enjoy this story

Layne’s books have been a little hit or miss for me, so this was like picking the only caramel in the chocolate box on your very first try. Sweet!

First, the cover. Him: buttoned-up, every hair in place, city suit, confused looking. Perfect. Her: Just, no. She looks like Rebel Lawyerette. If not for the belt, she’d be Cookie Cutter Lawyerette. She should have been in something toothache-inducing, Think frosting. Maybe pink or poufy. Better yet, pink AND poufy. Since there was no way to get the skyscraper Choos in the picture.

Some may bemoan the lack of nonstop sex scenes in this one, because Andrew and Georgie didn’t have actual sex until 2/3 through the book. They were busy with verbal foreplay, and boy, were they good at it.

Instead of the usual black gym shoes, the man’s shoes are RED.
“You went shopping, Dorothy!” I say happily.
He stares at me. “I don’t shop.”
“No, that makes sense,” I say pointing at his feet. “Glinda would have given those to you.”
“Enjoy your workout,” Ramon says.
“Yes, do,” I say… “What’s on the schedule today? Treadmill, or just skipping down the Yellow Brick Road?”

I’ve read that at least three times now, and it STILL makes me laugh. That’s good writing.

I am so keeping this one on my Kindle.

I teetered between 3 and 4 stars. I've been watching a lot Suits and was expecting Andrew to be more of a Harvey Spector.

It's good but was hoping for more for a book that took me 3 hours to read...I was always hoping for more story...more development...we know find that Andrews a genius and Georgie is a socialite but what's the story individually as well as together.

I loved this book hard. This book hooks you from page 1 and doesn't let go. it would be difficult to not like our heroine, but that is exactly what Andrew Maloney, Esquire does. She has this whole Holly Golightly feel about her, you know, where everyone in the from gravitates to her and she has never met a stranger, so for someone to not like her is completely foreign.
They meet in passing every morning as she is coming in for the night and he is leaving for the gym and engage verbal sparring matches that are so fun and quick-witted that you will find yourself chuckling and wishing you could come up with stuff this good off the top of your head.
Our divorce lawyer, Andrew, downstairs believe in Happily Ever Afters and our socialite part girl only believes in Happily Even Afters.
This book and their story is so much fun to read. It was a a wonderful ode to Happily Ever Afters and was one of my favorite reads from Lauren Layne so far. I highly recommend this book.

Just when you thought Lauren Layne can never surprise you anymore she turns up another gem in Walk of Shame. The opposite attracts/enemies to lover trope has found a new twist in Andrew and Georgie. The successful divorce lawyer and the socialite heiress have absolutely nothing in common except their very powerful attraction to each other. Despite the witty barbs and one-upmanship, Georgie and Andrew will have you laughing and rooting for their romance to flourish. Add in the ever romantic New York City as a setting and you have a winner in Walk of Shame.

Really enjoyed - this was perfect for a relaxation read. After a day of real life this is the ideal cocktail for relaxation and escape. Party girl and driven lawyer battle their wits and opposite lives into a perfect relationship. I'm in.

Favorite Quotes:

The man’s a lesson in sameness, like some sort of anal-retentive version of Groundhog Day.

If you’re wondering what Andrew Mulroney looks like while he’s in workout mode, picture this: Thor and Captain America somehow defeat biology and have a love child together. And call him Andrew. You’re welcome for the visual.

Seriously? Okay, I’m done. I’m out. I hope the Wicked Witch’s flying monkeys carry you away and I never have to see you again.

“Please don’t put some sort of esquire spin on this,” I whisper against his mouth. He lets out a quiet laugh, pulling back just slightly. “Esquire’s not an adjective.” “Sure it is,” I say, trailing my lips over his jawline, since it’s all I can reach. “Synonym: stodgy. Definition: prone to over thinking.”

I was named after both grandmothers, and I have to assume everyone thought I’d be very tidy and studious.

My Review:

I gleefully smirked my way through this delightfully amusing story packed with clever humor, witty banter, quick quips, and scorching hawt chemistry. I adored this smartly written and engaging storyline and treasured the charming and appealing characters who timed their morning routines to sync up precisely at five a.m. every weekday to verbally spar and trade barbs in the lobby of their building. I savored this sparkling tale from beginning to end and find it must be among the best of Ms. Layne’s considerable library of work. The writing was crisp and lively and the sizzling sensual scenes had me mopping my brow and gasping for air. It was crazy good and ridiculously perfect.

Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne......10 PERFECTLY RIDICULOUS STARS!!! This book had me laughing/smiling with all the bantering and craving doughnuts through this story. I absolutely loved Georgie and Andrew they are so different, but perfect together, opposites do attract. The story is so go you will be turning pages until the last word. ***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

Walk of Shame is the first book by Lauren Layne I've read so far and I really really enjoyed it!

The banter between Andrew and Geogie is PERFECT from the first scene to the last. We can feel their chemistry through the pages of the book and we don't want their story to end!

This was a great find and a book I DEVOURED! I definitely relate to Georgie and I could put myself in her place easily. I love this kind of "light" reads. It's not overly complicated or overly dramatic and it was written perfectly.

It shows a book doesn't need a huge ammount of drama at every nee page to be good!

Walk of Shame is the perfect romantic comedy to read in any time!

Sexy, witty and adorably romantic!

This story is set in the prestigious streets of New York City and gives a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous, complete with elegant events, extravagant parties and swanky couture. It is told from two different perspectives; Georgie, a warm, optimistic glitterati who believes in fairy tales; and Andrew, an intelligent, serious, skeptical divorce lawyer who would rather play it safe than follow his heart.

The writing is effortless. The characters are clever, alluring and lovable. And the plot is enchanting, exceptionally funny and filled with spirited hijinks, delicious tension, caustic banter, steamy attraction and true love.

I have always been a fan of Lauren Layne and I think this might have just become one of my favourites. I loved the characters; I loved the chemistry; I loved the story. It was ridiculously perfect! If you like light-hearted rom coms you can't do much better than this.

Thank you to NetGalley, especially Random House - Loveswept, for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love Lauren Layne's books. LOVE them. Her heroines are always women I think I could be friends with, and her Hot Heroes are always HOT.

This book, though. I wasn't quite sure that Georgia and I could be friends. She's a wealthy socialite whose only job is staying out late with her friends. Yeah, she volunteers for various charities - which, in her defense, requires as much work as any paying gig - but she's directionless. As she hits her mid-twenties, it's time, don't you think, for her to find a direction? So I struggled a bit with relating to her.

In any other hands, Georgia would have remained shallow and meaningless, but Lauren Layne renders her a character with substance. Georgia wants to find meaning in her life. She wants to set goals for herself and reach those goals. She realizes that there has to be more to the life she is living, privileged as it is.

It doesn't help her that her parents are both driven, successful people. Her father is a real estate developer, and her mother has started a fashion line. Georgia sees, however, that while those two are good at what they do professionally, they are not good at marriage.

It also does not help that Andrew Mulroney finds her frivolous at best. They live in the same apartment building and butt heads every time they see each other, which turns out to be somewhat frequently: they meet in passing most mornings at 5 AM as Andrew is begins his day as one of the city's most successful divorce attorneys and she ends hers with a "walk of shame."

These two cannot have a conversation with arguing with and insulting each other, and it is hilarious to read. All along, Lauren Layne builds tension between them - tension and passion. It's clear they are attracted to each other, but so what? To have a true relationship, substance must exist. Whereas Georgia lacks that professionally, Andrew lacks it emotionally. Georgia's heart is wide open; Andrew's is on lockdown.

The thing about the title is that Georgia isn't the only one who must endure walks of shame. So does Andrew, and his cause far more emotional angst. On the surface, this seems like a fun, frothy romance, but Layne gives it substance and emotional depth. She also delivers the quiver with some hot headboard rocking. Like, super hot.

You'll like this book.

I liked this well-written formulaic piece of romantic fluff. Witty dialogue and smart, capable characters expressing real life insecurities without the overdone angst so common in romance novels made this fun escape reading. Walk of Shame did not waste page real estate belaboring I'm-not-worthy/he-could-never-be-happy-with-me. The not very deep plot gives us the romance, sexual tension and laughs without undue airy silliness. Thank you Lauren Layne!

This book is ridiculously adorable. I actually hesitated about reading this one because I thought I wouldn't like the socialite heroine. I figured she'd be a snotty princess that the hero had to work hard to loosen up. Holy crap was I wrong! The description doesn't even begin to do this rom-com justice. Georgie is one of the most delightful heroines I've come across. She's witty, fun, and so full of life that I seriously wanted to be her (or at least be her friend). Andrew was the pretentious one, and it was a blast watching her get under his skin and knock down those stodgy walls. I think I smiled the entire time I read this (even when I was simultaneously wincing), and I haven't stopped since. I swear that every book I read by Ms. Layne is better than the last. She does something a little different this time with the dual POV, and although it struck me as odd at first, it actually works. And the logic behind it, when you consider Andrew's character, makes total sense. This gal has ridiculous talent.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group- Loveswept and Lauren Layne for the ARC (Advanced Reading Copy) of "Walk of Shame" by Lauren Layne for my honest review. The genre of this novel is Romance.
The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, insecure and emotional.
The two main characters, Georgie, and Andrew meet while moving into an exclusive upper class apartment complex, at the same time. Both are fighting for the elevator. Georgie is a party going socialite, who usually comes home about 5:00 AM. Andrew is a Divorce Attorney and workaholic who is first leaving for the day at 5:00AM. Georgie comes in with donuts for the doorman, and takes one as she heads upstairs. Andrew is drinking his protein drink and goes to the gym before he leaves for work. Georgie is a romantic and believes in fairytale endings. Andrew deals with realism all day long, and thinks that Georgie is ridiculous. Both spar with other at 5:00AM in the morning when they see each other. As a matter of fact, outgoing and friendly Georgie seems totally ridiculous to Andrew. Is it true that opposites can be attracted to one another or kill each other?
I thought that this was a charming, delightful, sexy read and would recommend it.
