I love Lauren Layne's writing. In fact I enjoy it so much that I signed up to receive her monthly newsletters. Trust me, Lauren is just as witty writing about her life as she is giving life to her amazing characters. It may be only April, but I have to say that "Walk of Shame" is the funniest, most entertaining book that I have had the pleasure of reading this year. I really couldn't get enough of Georgie and Andrew and was sad that I finished it in less than a day.
Georgianna "Georgie" Watkins is your stereotypical socialite, heiress. She is spoiled, loves to party, shop and pamper herself. She does do some charity work, but her life is centered mainly around her social calendar. She is also bubbly, fun and is the friendliest and nicest person that you could ever meet. She may seem ditzy and even stupid, but you can't help but fall in love with her. Even though she spends most of her nights partying with her friends, the highlight of her day, or should I say night, is her early morning run-ins with her neighbor. Andrew is the complete opposite of Georgie. And Georgie loves nothing more than to get under his skin and possibly see another side of the stodgy lawyer. She may claim that she hates him and can't stand his condescending manner, but then why can't she keep her distance from him?
Andrew Mulroney is the most famous divorce attorney in New York City. He is always serious, punctual and disciplined. In short, he is everything that Georgie isn't. But try as he might he can't help but be amused by her sparkling personality - even though he would rather die than admit it. Running into her on her way back home from another night out in the town and sparring with her while she indulges in her donut addiction has become a much anticipated ritual for him. He may try to tell himself otherwise, but he is drawn to Georgie's spark like a moth to a flame.
The book is written in first person with a couple of chapters told in third person that reflect Andrew's point of view. I think that the fact we get to look inside Georgie's head makes this story even more endearing and entertaining. I loved Georgie so much that I would have loved to read more about her. Kind of like Rebecca Bloomwood in Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series. This couple has so much chemistry and so many sparks between them that you need to read this book with a fire extinguisher at hand. Another treat by Lauren Layne!!!
If you love sexual tension, there is no shortage of it in this book! Georgie and Andrew hate each other but it's one of those "I hate you so much that I love you" kinda hates. This book made me feel some strong emotions. It was so entertaining and I was hooked instantly. The characters couldn't be more different but they work perfectly together. The build up of sexual tension is almost unbearable at one point but it finally erupts at the perfect point and it's so incredibly satisfying (no pun intended) and HOT! I thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious, yet scorchingly sexy book.
Walk of Shame
I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really love the fact that the author took the time to tell the story. She did not rush it, which actually seems to happen a lot in the Romance novels. I have read a lot of Romance novels that will start out with a great story and then rush through to the end so fast it loses the potential, it started with, to be a wonderful book. Lauren takes to time to lay out the plot and introduce the characters and taking that potential and turning it into a Great book. The story was well thought out. The princess and the frog. I love the chemistry between the main characters Andrew and Georgiana. The sexual chemistry is amazing. I found the book not only romantic but fun. There were several moments of laugh out loud fun and moments of sadness. I like the mix of characters and it was easy to imagine being there or maybe watching it on the big screen. The book was captivating. I am definitely interested in reading other works by this author. Happy Reading!!!
Will definately put my review out when it is released!
Just what I needed to get me out of my book funk! I have never been disappointed by a Lauren Layne book. This book is so fun! Georgie and Andrew are complete opposites. She's chaotic to his calm. She's his squall coming in and turning his world upside down and I LOVED it. LL is one author I know I can depend on to deliver top notch stories, writing, and give me all the feels. 5+ stars.
Confession time: while I'm a big Lauren Layne fan, I thought I'd absolutely HATE this one. I mean, a spoiled rotten rich-kid princess living the party life in NY? Whose problems are supposed to garner my sympathy?! Seriously, Layne has some magic voodoo or something because possibly the most unlikeable character archetype is somehow so ridiculous she's perfect. The contrast between her and love interest Andrew (or Andy, as she likes to call him for purely nefarious reasons) is absolutely awesome; I love that his biggest issue is the fact that he lives his life cerebrally, given that he's a genius who missed out on a lot of life because of how quickly he grew up. Oh, and the supporting cast of characters is also awesome (his bro and sis in law are so realistic and cool, and don't even get me started on Georgie's best friend Marley - I'll never stop)
READ THIS BOOK. Even if the summary sounds like the worst thing ever.
4 solid stars.
*I received a review copy from the publisher/author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.*
Anytime that I get the opportunity to indulge in a Lauren Layne book, I take it! So when I received an email offering an ARC of her newest novel I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it. This Author has been one of my favorites since I read her first book. Her writing is flawless. It draws you in right from the start. Her characters are real, likeable, flawed and just amazing. I have yet to read one of her stories that I didn’t love..
Walk of Shame seemed a little different to me than some of Lauren’s other books. The writing is a tad different but still just as remarkable.
Georgie is a young, rich, party girl with very little responsibilities. Some may think she is irresponsible and self-centered but she isn’t. Andrew is Georgie’s uptight, condescending, socially awkward, workaholic well known divorce attorney. Georgie has a tremendous crush on him and she believes that Andrew doesn’t like her at all but what she doesn’t realize it that Andrew likes her a whole lot me than she could ever imagine.
“I’m Georgie Watkins of the cinnamon-sugar hair, and he’s… well okay fine. He’s a big deal.”
These two characters were polar opposites but yet still the same in some areas. Their courtship to a relationship was definitely not without its ups and downs but I think Georgie did a great job at bringing Andrew out of his shell. Their banter is pretty amusing at times and will definitely keep you chuckling. Their love and their relationship grows slowly and at an even pace.
“I want the guy who’s not afraid to be spontaneous when he needs to be, who’s not afraid to get messy, because love it messy. "
The plot is great, the second characters are good and this was just an all-around great read that I enjoyed very much!
If you loved the Amy Adams/Patrick Dempsey movie Enchanted, then you are going to love this book. Essentially, it’s Enchanted fan fiction and I don’t mean that as a bad thing. Stuffy divorce lawyer Andrew has zero time for ridiculousness, frivolity, fluff - whatever word you want to assign to his neighbor, Georgina, he has no time for it. Georgie, a kind and generous socialite, is fascinated as to why this gorgeous man hates her and has decided to win him over. Of course, he doesn’t really hate her, and he wins her over right back, and all ends happily ever after.
Most mornings at 5am, Georgie stops on her way home from whatever club she’s been at to pick up donuts for the security staff of her building. A happy coincidence is that the frustratingly fascinating Andrew Mulroney leaves the building for his gym at 5am. They’re not friends for sure, and they’re not really enemies. They’re more like sparring partners passing in the night, but each has gotten under the other’s skin.
When a particular jab lobbed by Andrew has Georgie retaliating that he doesn’t know her at all, the pair end up agreeing that Georgie will spend a day shadowing him. She’ll start with his gym routine, then go to the office, and so on and so forth. He’s convinced she won’t last more than twenty minutes and she’s determined to prove to him that heiresses have more stamina than he gives them credit for.
The day doesn’t go according to plan, because, well, it doesn’t, but it ups the ante between them for sure. Before they know it, and with a paparazzi shot speeding up the process, they’re not only friends, but something much more. A very sexy something more, by the way. Their chemistry crackles from page one and I had a hard time putting this one down!
I adore Lauren Layne’s books. I prefer her series, because I love how she weaves people together, but her standalones are delightful as well and Walk of Shame is no exception. We get much more of the story from Georgie’s point of view than from Andrew’s, which made me feel like I knew and understood her better. Andrew is the one with the hero’s journey in this, however, so I wish we could have gotten inside his head a bit more.
Oh – and in case that hero’s journey comment leads you to believe Georgie is perfect from start to finish, let me dissuade you of that notion. Her growth is subtler - she has to decide if the picture perfect idea she has of her life is really accurate and how much vulnerability she’s willing to risk if it’s not. Since we’re in her first-person PoV for over half the book (Andrew’s chapters are third-person PoV, FYI), we get to hear her wonderings, her shifts in perspective - especially regarding the nature of marriage, love, and happily ever afters.
At 200 pages, the story moves quickly and I, personally, think it could have taken its time a bit more. For what it is, I recommend it, and am already looking forward to Ms. Layne’s next offering.
Walk of Shame, was cute in a "New York socialite meets genius lawyer" kind of way. I just didn't care for it very much.
The most annoying thing about, Walk of Shame, is when Georgie talks to us the readers. Something like, "You see what I have to put up with here". Maybe it's a way to show us that she tries to be friends with everyone or something, but she does it a lot.
The sparing between Andrew and Georgie last for the first two thirds of the book. Too much Ridiculous drama. I would have liked to see a little more of the two of them together.
I used to love reading romance books. Some were bad, some were great, and some were just ok. It didn't matter how good or bad I would try and finish them. As of lately I've been in a real love hate relationships with books of the romance variety. I can't tell you how many I've started this past year just to quit halfway through. I was so very happy when I started reading this book and it was really keeping me interested. I didn't want to get my hopes up too early though so I toned my my happiness a bit. By the halfway point which flew up on me without me even noticing, I was still interested and I loved both the characters. That's a huge win these days. I ended the book with a smile and happy with the outcome. Did I get frustrated with the characters? Well yea, but they're supposed to be human therefore not perfect. I forgave them quickly and easily. This was a quick sweet read that I'll definitely recommend.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
3.5* rounded up.
Georgie parties almost every night until 5 a.m. (seriously, who could/would really do that? night after night? until 5 a.m.?), when she returns to her apartment building and runs into Andrew, who is leaving for the gym before putting in a day's work as an attorney. (Also, is this, strictly speaking, a walk of shame?)
The opening was strong and introduced the characters well. I liked Georgie; she was warm and affectionate and didn't take herself too seriously. There were fewer chapters from Andrew's point of view and, even when we were supposedly inside his head, he was pretty much a closed book. Not a lot really happened by way of plot - I was expecting Georgie to find her vocation at some point during the story - she makes a few phone calls to organize a breast charity event at one point, but otherwise didn't seem to be making the best use of her economics degree. There was (in some chapters more than in others) heavy focus on all the branded and designer goods Georgie owns, and she certainly was devoted to her nightclubbing, but her life didn't seem that enviable to me.
The ending was rather muddled and sudden. Suddenly Andrew is incapable of believing in love and "busy destroying love". He cannot cope with a woman who feels rather than thinks... (or something)? This all came out of the blue somehow - it seemed to me more that they had both been too scared to be honest with each other and then Georgie was irrationally angry with Andrew for doing the right thing in a situation not of his making. The epilogue was slightly saccharine: I would have liked a bit more description of what Andy and Georgie's life together actually looked like, even if she just took some cooking classes or something.
Enjoyable, but not particularly memorable.
I enjoyed reading this story. I needed a book that I was almost positive that I would enjoy so I immediately started reading this book. Yeah, Lauren Layne's work has become an almost guaranteed good read for me. There is just something about the way she is able to blend sexy and sweet into a romantic story that leaves a smile on your face that I just cannot get enough of. This book ended up being as good as I hoped it would be.
This book is listed as being the fourth book in the Love Unexpectedly series but there is really no connection between the books in this series at all. Readers can feel free to start anywhere you want with this series and read them in any order since they all function as stand alone novels.
This was an opposites attract kind of story. Georgie and Andrew are very different from each other. Georgie is a socialite who spends her time working on charity events and her nights going out on the town with her friends. Andrew is a top divorce lawyer who works hard and is very regimented. Georgie and Andrew tend to see each other in their building's lobby at 5 am when she is coming home from her evening and he is leaving to work out at the gym. Total opposites.
I loved the banter between Georgie and Andrew right from the start. Georgie is much more practiced at the back and forth but I loved how Andrew was able to keep up. It becomes evident quite quickly that this pair of individuals are very attracted to each other and the chemistry between then was wonderful. It was nice watching Georgie pull Andrew out of his uptight shell and I loved how perfectly ridiculous they really were together.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This book is sweet, sexy, funny, and charming. I can't wait to see what Lauren Layne comes up with next!
I received an advance reader edition of this book from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley.
As a huge fan of 'opposite attract', and after reading the blurb I knew I had to read this book.
It was FUN, SEXY, LIGHT-HEARTED and had great banter.
I love opposite attract - it usually starts with great banter, sexual tension and leads to more fun along the way.
In Walk of Shame I started to adore Andrew Mulroney from the very first moment. He, a divorce lawyer of the rich and famous, was so stuffy and seemed to have NO humor at all. But behind the scenes, he was adorable.
Georgianna Watkins, a wealthy socialite in Manhattan, was easy to love. She was genuinely good, even so she liked to party, she was a trust fund baby and bubbly and fun to be around - like I said she was incredibly easy to like and I would kill to have her as my BFF. :D
Georgianna and Andrew seemed to be like oil and water. Nothing Georgie said made an impression on Andrew. He thought she was RIDICULOUS - perfectly ridiculous.:D
I loved Andrew. He worked so HARD. All he did was work, went to the gym, and worked some more. There was no fun or light-heartedness anywhere in his life- that's why Georgianna was so PERFECT for him. She was the easy going girl, sexy, sweet, seemingly immune to his grouchiness and she brought a smile to his lips.
I LOVED how both were secretly scheduling their times in such a way that they would pass each other in the lobby each morning.
It was ADORABLE!!!
Andrew and Georgie were such a wonderful and cute couple.
They were clearly opposite in their personality but that didn't mean that they weren't perfectly matched because of it. Georgie gave Andrew a part that was dearly missing in his life. Someone to come home to, to cook, to sit and curl up on the coach with. Suddenly his life was not all about work and gym.
It didn't surprise me how easy it was for Georgie to change her priorities. She was ready for a guy in her life - she was ready for Andrew.
Lauren Layne never failed to deliver heroes I fall hard for. Andrew was such a grouch. He kept his feelings and emotions so tightly locked that it took Georgie quite a while to break through his walls. But Georgie was everything else than a quitter. She was fine with taking baby steps, and her strategy was definitely working out for her. I loved watching these two completely opposite people fall head over heels in love with each other
Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly #4) by Lauren Layne was such an "enchanting" story that I read it in one sitting. You couldn't have pried it from my hands. :D

An enchanting read !
When a party girl and a stodgy (and I don't mean fat) divorce lawyer meet fireworks are guaranteed.
Georgianna (Georgie) and Andrew live in the same building, and indulge in verbal sparring every morning at 5am.
I just loved Walk of Shame and read it in 1 go, I lost sleep but it sooooo worth it. It's entertaining, it's funny, it's hot, it's simply a perfect read.
I have always enjoyed reading books by Ms Layne and this one is I think one of her best so far.
***4 ‘Perfectly Ridiculous’ Stars***
After my tepid feelings towards Love Story I was a bit hesitant to dive into Walk of Shame, something I hate to admit but truth is truth. But my wonky Libra nature urged me to give it a go because it IS LL after all, and one off’s happen, so I did and I devoured this book. It was a fun, smexy rom com that had a good dose of angst that was tempered by heart and sweetness.
Georgie was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth and to the world at large is a party girl celebutante, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I honestly loved Georgie. She was comfortable in her own skin and owned her lifestyle. She may be a party girl, but that isn’t all she is. She has a huge heart and sees people for who they are, not their status. She’s witty, kind and compassionate even when she’s attempting to be sneaky.
Andrew is a high powered divorce attorney who likes his world to be a nicely regimented to the point where his whole world can go sideways should one little thing not fall in line. Oh Logan. I didn’t know what to think about him at first, but as things progress and we find out more about his past I did end up liking him more and more. He’s got a good heart, is smexy as hell, but suffers from ‘foot in mouth’ disease...a lot.
Their opposites attract rollercoaster of a relationship was all kinds of fun and frustrating in equal measure, but I loved how they got under each others skins and have them tripping over themselves to figure out what was going on between them. I would have liked a little more of Andrew, and I know that’s vague, but there is so much to him that I feel we only got the tip of the iceberg (visualize that book vs movie meme with said iceberg). Did it change how I felt at the end? No, it didn’t affect my rating, but had we gotten more it would have definitely bumped it up. Regardless of that, I really enjoyed Andy and Georgie together. They’re bantering was witty and I loved them when they started to open up and relax with each other. The relationship bomb was a big one, but I liked how it all played out and how they got back together made me all kinds of twitterpated.
The writing flowed well and the pacing of the story was good. I thought the movie references were well used throughout the book, especially since one of my favorite movies was also one of Georgie’s. The use of 1st person POV and 3rd person POV was well done. Overall this was a fun read filled with heart and a good dose of heat and it is a true standalone so you can dive on in without having read the previous books in the series.
Georgie Watkins, NYC socialite and professional party girl, looks forward to the mornings she rolls into her buildings lobby after a late night out with her friends. The cap to her perfect nights... a little friendly, antagonistic banter with a fellow resident.
Andrew Mulroney, Esquire... thinks Georgie is... ridiculous. They couldn't be more opposite if they tried, but there is something about her that he just can't stay away from. What starts out as a truce (of sorts) develops into actual time spent together, and Georgie and Andrew still couldn't be more opposite, but can they maybe good for each other?
I absolutely adored this book! Georgie is hilarious. She may be a socialite and party girl, but she is anything but shallow and self-centered. She is a caring, generous and unapologetically friendly and outgoing woman. Andrew is a brilliant man who knows a lot... just not about being smooth with someone like Georgie. They are such a brilliant match, who you would never see as compatible, but end up being perfect for each other.
The writing is, as usual, fantastic. With Lauren Layne's trademark wit and her awesomely snarky characters (my favorite type, btw) who are portrayed so genuinely, that you can't help but become engrossed in their story and root for them throughout all of their ups and downs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
I have three words to describe Walk of Shame: fun, fun, fun! (I know that isn’t very creative, but it really does describe the reading experience.) It has everything I love and expect from a Lauren Layne book - witty banter, fascinating characters, and a sexy, sigh-worthy love story. Reading it feels like my favorite kind of indulgence.
Andrew and Georgiana are neighbors and opposites. He’s a buttoned-up, serious divorce attorney, and she is a carefree, social butterfly fortunate enough not to have to work. They meet each other while passing in their building’s lobby in the early morning - he’s going to work while she’s just arriving home from a night on the town.
They’re different personalities and opposing lifestyles cause them to rub each other the wrong way, but that friction ignites a sizzling chemistry that could burn down the building. Andrew is a pretty controlled guy, and he attempts to not resist Georgiana, but she’s a force to be reckoned with and can’t be ignored. She also nudges him along by pushing his buttons any opportunity she gets.
Andrew and Georgiana dance around each other throwing pointed (and hilarious) jabs, but they begin to find themselves seeking and enjoying each other’s company. I love their dynamic. He is hilarious and endearing as he tries to stay grumpy and impervious, and it’s highly entertaining watching Georgiana unravel him. There’s nothing sexier than Andrew losing control.
Walk of Shame is exactly why Lauren Layne writes bestselling romances, and she'll always be an auto-buy for me as long as she’s typing.
- Harlequin Junkie
SOOOO good. This book had me from the first scene, and held onto me for one fun ride. Georgie and Andrew are so opposite, yet so perfect for each other. Even while I saw what was coming, and knew what the "secret" would be, I still held on, hoping I was wrong. I wasn't, but it was okay, because these two had too much fight in them to go down in flames. This may be my favorite LL book yet!
It shouldn’t be this easy – to get dragged into a story with a heroine that ticks every box on the ‘annoying’ scale: gorgeous, rich, frivolous, famous for just existing with a major ‘thing’ for the hero: also gorgeous and famous, as a divorce lawyer, with a penchant for opening his mouth and inserting his foot. But it was Enchanting! Right from the start, I wanted to know why Georgie was all puppy at the pound turning circles and begging for attention from Andrew, who obviously had little time for her combined with that ‘first glance’ dismissal of her value.
But then we see it, Georgie’s heart and honest appreciation of the people she encounters: she draws people to her like moths to a flame: always open, friendly and up for a laugh. She is sunshine guaranteed to brighten your day (even at the end of a long night-shift) with a smile, a conversation or even a maple bacon donut, caged with 11 others from a bakery, a stop made after a long night of dancing and drinking with her friends.
Well, Andrew was a bit different:: rigidly adherent to his schedule, ‘deadly intelligent’, restrained and carefully confined within the little box he’s built for himself: suits that scream ‘successful attorney”, workout clothes that range from black to slate grey, a driven, restrained and dare I say, stuck in a rut man with a firmly held belief that Georgie is frivolous, ridiculous and just the girl he can’t stop thinking about.
So perhaps Georgie does have a bit of the Disney Princess about her, and yes, I swear that there were times that little birds should have sung her awake (at noon) and helped her dress, but she is just so perfectly optimistic and joyful in everything she does, always knowing that things will work out and love will prevail. She’s just driven to make Andrew see that: to force the door open to his heart and make him see that love and life are meant to be enjoyed and experienced. With movie nights with Enchanted, through charming his sister-in-law, partners at the firm, and pretty much everyone else, he’s loosening the reins on his tightly held control….although he never can quite get his balance. Socially awkward with anything more than small talk, even Georgie’s small talk is baffling to him, and he just can’t seem to find equilibrium around her. But he is hooked. Totally and completely. And Happy. The girl with the sparkles and laughter and unselfish need to have everyone around her happy, heard and enjoying the moment has him wanting….more.
Laughter, tears, concern and even a few moments where Andrew neeed to be hit with a stick, and not the happy one, I loved every moment of this book, and went right back in to re-read it a second time. A book hangover of legendary proportions, if you like your romance – you’ll love this book. And if you don’t fancy your romance (gasp!!) this will convert you…. Trust and believe.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Review first appeared at I am, Indeed
I am a HUGE Lauren Layne fan. I have read every book once and some even twice. Some have been absolute favorites, like the Stiletto series and others I enjoyed just didn't love but this story was incredible. LL has created two wonderfully different and fun characters in this story with Georgina and Andrew. If you are looking for snarky and funny story, well run to read this book because it was pure fun.
Georgina /Georgie and Andrew live in the same building and the title of the book is about Georgie and how she is coming home at 5am when Andrew is starting his day at 5am, supposedly she is doing the walk of shame, though she never really does.
Andrew and Georgie meet weekday mornings at 5am and they form relationship around that. The big kiss described in this story happens midway in the book and at that point both characters know they have a relationship with other even if they don't know what to call it.
If I was naming this book I think The Kiss is very appropriate as its a catalyst for how G and A finally end up exploring their attraction, before that they are both resistant to admitting to real feelings for the other. But that kiss changes everything.
I really LOVED this story. Beyond loved. I laughed alot during this story, and I also ached a lot too. This story is actually sweet and romantic. It explores a relationship round two extremely different and opposite characters. But who are both very lonely. Once they come together, they learn what happiness really is.
They have some big challenges in this story but I loved how hard they fall for the other and I loved all the one liners. if you enjoy snarky heroines and lots of laughter along with a sweet and romantic hero, then you will fall hard for Andrew like I totally did.
I haven’t been following Lauren Layne’s ‘Love Unexpectedly’ series, so jumping into ‘Walk of Shame’ because of the intriguing blurb and the hilarious expressions of the models on the cover is probably as good an idea as any to start this book which sounds like a romantic comedy with minimal angst and lots of bumps along the way. A spoiled, rich woman and a hardened, jaded lawyer? Bring it on.
But it’s a story, as I’ve come to realise early on, that people would either love or hate.
I’ll be the first to admit that Georgie Watkins is the kind of character I’d love to hate and it took a long, long while to warm up a little to her: the name-dropping, the airhead monologues (too many chapters were in her POV) and the constant mindless flitting from one meaningless activity to another all told in a mug voice weren’t characteristics I could even force myself to admire in a heroine.
Georgie is like the culmination of every spoiled socialite writ large in all the mean-girl movies and Layne has gotten her down to a science. There’s definitely the effort to show us Georgie’s softer side (she’s kind, caring, concerned for her family and friends) but I think I needed to see something more substantial beyond that. I’d expected to plumb her depths (no pun intended!) given so much of what we see of her is this apparently shallow woman. I’d hoped to see a bit more of an identity shake-up after seeing how Andrew’s own stodgy, awkward personality had changed by the end of the book, which didn’t really happen. In fact, Georgie seemed like someone content to have her head in the clouds, living the only reality she knew, and because Andrew trampled on that vision, he was quickly written off and expected to grovel because she couldn't be rational about her parents’ divorce.
The long and short of it is that ‘Walk of Shame’ was a personal disappointment. It is definitely a light-hearted read though by the end, I wasn’t convinced about their compatibility (Andrew seemed more amused by her ridiculousness than anything else and in turn, Georgie appeared infatuated with this buttoned-up mystery) and liking the colour red felt like scraping the bottom of the barrel. Layne’s banter and sniping did make the story entertaining, but even after I finished the book, I simply couldn’t see Andrew/Georgie as a couple that would ultimately last.
