I love the description she gives of herself versus the stereotypical one of a psychic medium. She talks about psychic abilities as being a birthright and that it is not dictated by race or nationality. She includes true stories, explanations, and exercises. She mentions tuning into your intuition by following your gut. She also stated the difference between intuition and psychic abilities is like splashing pain on a canvas to being a master artist. The journal entries and exercises are very detailed.
The author has smooth writing style. As I read the book, I felt as if I was sitting across the table having a conversation with a fiend. She does not come across as all-knowing or with the attitude of “you have to do it this way or else.” She is an everyday woman, wife, and mother who likes to help people, whether they are alive or a spirit. If you have ever wondered what life could/would be like having psychic abilities, this book would be a great starting point.
Wow, I thought I reviewed this ages ago....so sorry for the late review. As with all of Llewellyn's "little" books, I really liked this one. It packed a punch in a small space, and gave lots of helpful tips.
A brilliant little book, like all in this series. It gives you all the information you need starting off as if you know nothing about the subject, which I think is a brilliant way to start things on this kind of subject.
Well written and really helpful :)
As expected, this is an excellent book for psychic development. While this book is geared more toward beginners, even seasoned psychics will find something here.
A really interesting book with some great things to try to connect with your psychic self. If meditation , tarot cards and the other side resonates with you then this is a book for you.
This little book was really a nice read, and I really enjoyed how Melanie Barnum approached psychic development. Her book "Llewellyn's Little Book of Psychic Development" is filled with easy to read tips on how to expand your psychic abilities. Now, as a tarot reader, I've a pretty open mind about this sort of stuff. If you don't have an inclination towards psychic abilities, well then this isn't a book for you.
Barnum uses personal stories and her wealth of knowledge about physic phenomenon to give a complete beginner the tools needed to start looking into their own psychic talents. The only thing you need for this book to work for you is an open mind and a journal, and having a willing friend to do some exercised with doesn't hurt. Barnum provides a lot of exercises to work on strengthening your abilities. There are exercises for many different types of abilities, so if you are unsure of what gifts you may have, doing some of these exercises highlight what latent abilities you should work on.
Really good book for beginners. If you are already working with psychic abilities, this book may be a little too basic for you. However, if you are trying to discover your abilities well then I recommend. Also, if you are just interested in reading about these phenomenon, I would give this book a chance. I didn't read this to delve into any of my abilities (I really don't think I have any) but it was interesting to read.
Great book. I was an interesting read. I liked the explanations .
I have always seen things, heard things, and known things that I really shouldn't have. I also read people and it has been proven with people I have never met before but told them all about themselves. Still shocks me even though I have always been able to do it, So when I ran across this book I knew I had to read it. I personally devoured this book I read it in one setting. This book is great even if you think yo have no psychic powers. It comes with an easy to read run down a well as tips. I also loved the lessons. I have tried some of the lessons in the book as i was reading it. I do plan to make some audio files for others like the relaxation and protection bubbles, this way I can listen to them and do as they say like close your eyes, can't do that and read, I love how everything is explained in easy to understand terms, and you are totally walked through each and every section of the book.
I have read a lot of books about psychic powers some have been really great others have been boring drawn out pieces of dribble. This book though is written in first person by the author, you learn her story while figuring out your own. It is not filled with a bunch of scientific jargon that you cannot understand. It also makes everything simple. i really enjoyed reading this book, and can guarantee I will be reading it several times.
I really liked and enjoyed reading this book. I also found in very insightful. The way the author's writing creates the scenes and describes her experiences makes it easy to relate to. I really feel that this book has helped with many of my personal relationships.
