This was a great follow up to the first book. I was more invested in all the characters and I liked characters I thought I didn’t like. I guessed some of the secrets way early due to hints but still enjoyed the journey.
Family secrets, lies, and drama combine in this well written thriller of sorts. It would help, I think to have read the earlier books but that said, I read it as a standalone and was fine.
3.5 stars
While I enjoyed being back with this family and their interwoven and sometimes complex stories, this one didn’t quite hit the same spot as book one for me. That said, this was a different couple and I liked the staging of a duology with different but very connected couples. I struggled a little with Ilya but I found Theresa refreshing and right for the situation. I must admit I guess some of the plot points early on but it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the journey playing out.
This du9logy had a family saga feeling and I appreciated that very much. I’d definitely read this author again.
This was a great follow up to the first book. I read this in one sitting.
Thanks Netgalley for the Arc
All the Secrets We Keep by Megan Hart is the second book in the Quarry Road series and like the first deals with the Stern family who seem to need to sleep with each other. In the first book, Ilya Stern's long lost brother comes home and falls in love with Ilya's divorced wife. His ex -sister in law and they carry on an affair behind Ilya's back.
Now it's Ilya's turn to get some and who does he fall for. Why his step sister of course!
Ilya Stern is trapped in his small Pennsylvania hometown, trying to hold on to a business that is failing by the day. But that is how much of his life feels right now and he wallows in it. Ilya is use to feeling like a disappointment. He has screwed up most everything for most of his life and allowed his bad boy charm to escape from the responsibility of it.
"...He found a few new words at the last minute, when she was already almost out the door. 'Are you too?'
'Am I what?'
'Disappointed in me.' He was drifting...drifting.
'Why would I be?'
'All...the women in my life...mother, Alicia...they're all disappointed in me. Are you..."
Ilya Stern fell in love with his high school girlfriend Jennilynn, but when she drowned he quickly moved on and married her sister Alicia. Together they started a business but the ghost of his love for Jennilynn hung over them and they were doomed. They divorced and Alicia sold her share of the business but Ilya wants to hold on. When his grandmother Babulya dies, Ilya feels like he has no one left.
Theresa Malone was Ilya's stepsister for a year. That is how long it took Ilya's temperamental mother to throw Theresa's father out of the house in the middle of the night. When Babulya dies, Theresa returns to pay her respects. She is also trying to facilitate the deal to buy out Ilya's share of the business so that her company can begin development.
Working together, Ilya and Theresa build more than a brotherly, sisterly relationship. But can their relationship work? Is Theresa just pretending her feelings to get the sale to go through? Will the past of their family come back to haunt them as well? Can Ilya save the one thing in his life that needs to go right?
Megan Hart is a very good writer. She is also one of the more prolific writers going right now as well. When you churn our so many titles, then they are not all going to be very good and this one falls under the label of "...not as good as most of her stuff..." The premise of the relationship is shaky as best and there seems to be little in the way of true chemistry. They are two lonely and failing people who hope they stay afloat holding onto each other. But how does one drowning person save another? Ilya is a character, both in this book and the one prior, that you want to see fail. He is a selfish and arrogant ass with little to show for it. Theresa seems to so desperate, in her life and business that she is reaching for any kind of preserver to keep her afloat. You hope that she is not the next woman in Ilya's life that he just uses to feed his need for attention.
Overall not really bad, but not up to Megan Hart's other books.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book! I love Megan Hart and have enjoyed many of her books.

So, honestly I had to read the first book first, because I could not really understand or enjoy this book until I had done this. This is an emotion-filled family drama, that requires you to read it from the very beginning. At least, in my opinion. So you can fully understand everything that goes on. I really loved the characters, the plot and all the wonderfully written emotions that went through it. I just fell in love with Megan Hart again. Read it, I dare you. Perfect read on a rainy day.
This book was great from start to finish. The characters in this are described very well so you truly get to know a lot about them and form a connection. You get pulled into the story and will feel for Theresa and the rough life she struggles to overcome. I cheered for her and Ilya as well as getting a little emotional as well at the struggles. Overall well worth reading I absolutely loved it and will definitely read more from this author!!
I didn't really enjoy this book. In fact, I DNFed it. It's just not my cup of tea. Too graphic with the intimacies and too romantic for my tastes.
I don't know. I don't think I actually connect with this book since I read it so fast and my mind actually swarming around and not focus on the story. I think the writing is cool and I am into the story but not the characters. The plot is interesting, but not enough for me to enjoy this more.
I did not read the first book but this did not prevent my enjoyment of this one. A classic will they wont they tale that captivates and compells the reader to continue through the chapters to discover what happens next
All the Secrets We Keep
Quarry Road #2
Megan Hart
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this one just as much as I loved the first book in this series. I have read many books by Megan Hart and this is a more contemporary romance than her usual erotica.
This is a continuation from All the Lies We Tell and should be read in order. I don't feel this book could be read as a standalone.
I'm pretty sure this was the conclusion to the story but I hope she writes some more books similiar to these.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
As the title suggests, All the secrets we keep centres on the truth about past events finally coming to light. I initially found the complex dynamics between the 2 families interesting, but ultimately didn't 'like' any of them enough to really care about the secret. I'm sure others will find the story more compelling, particularly as the writing is fairly strong, but it wasn't for me.
Heavy in a way that made me a little uncomfortable, but I could not stand to put it down. Definitely pushes boundaries.
This is one series where it may actually be better to read the first book first... I didn't, and was very thoroughly confused at the beginning of it. With that being said, I am going to read the first book in this series.
Eventually, I figured out what I was missing, and it was a good book. It was a complicated love story. The relationships between the characters are very unusual. The book kind of seemed to go back and forth on a lot of things, making it seem more complicated than it should have been. Overall, I did like the book.
Good read. The characters and situations are relevant and engaging. The writing is good and the story flows well. I haven’t read the first story but will definitely go back and do so.
I received a copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It was an interesting family drama with a mystery. The characters are easy to fall in love with. The main character Theresa was well developed. She was somewhat of an underdog growing up as the step daughter. As an adult she was very responsible despite her challenging upbringing. This made you root for her even more.
I did not read the first book, All the Lies we Tell. This book stands on its own. I was able to pick up the back story on the characters and didn’t feel I needed to read the books in order.
If you liked the Sunshine Sisters or This is Where I leave you, I think you will enjoy this book.
This book was all I hoped for and more. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Loved the writing, loved the characters and loved the story.
I did not read book 1 (All the lies we tell) in the Quarry road series. I think I would have enjoyed this story better if I had. Ilya lives in small town Pennsylvania and feels disappointment in his life. His grandmother was the only one who encouraged and supported him and now she has died. Theresa come back home for the funeral and she and Ilya meet again and wonder what could have been and struggle to decide what can be.
