This book was another sweet read by one of my favorite Christian authors. I loved how this book flowed and that it was a quick, easy but very enjoyable read with fun characters that really draw you in and have you rooting for them.

*** Review will be up on blog June 11th

Nicole is expecting to spend her summer break from teaching painting, but an unexpected invite to manage an old family friend’s art gallery turns her world upside down. She suddenly finds herself travelling from Seattle to Savannah, learning the gallery world, dealing with a testy co-worker, reconnecting with brothers Alex & Ryan, and mentoring the teenage daughter of one of the brothers. She is definitely outside of her comfort zone. How will she handle the challenges that come her way and can she follow her heart?

I thought a lot of expectations were placed on Nicole without much explanation, but she was a trooper and handled everything nicely. Nicole grew throughout the book, at the beginning she was letting people tell her what to do but by the end she was able to stand up for herself and go after what she wanted (while still being nice).

As she is reconnecting with the two brothers, one she had crush on and one she thought was a nerd, she begins to see them in a different light than she did when she was younger. Feelings develop for one but nothing can happen because of current circumstances or are things really as they appear?

This was an enjoyable read set in a beautiful town. There were moments of lighthearted entertainment and moments where I wanted to give some characters a shake. The teenage daughter definitely added some flare. There was one brother I liked so much more than the other. I especially enjoyed the scenes between Nicole and the brother I liked. The ending frustrated; as much as I was pleased with the way last scene played out I found the ending to be very abrupt. I would have liked to have more closure, such as what happens with Nicole and the gallery?

Under the Summer Sky: A Savannah Romance – Melody Carlson

I am a big fan of Melody Carlson. I loved the cover of this book. I love Savannah! This is the story of Nicole Anderson who is a high school art teacher who needs a little change of pace in her life. At the beginning of summer she is presented – almost forced – into a trip to run an art gallery in Savannah, Georgia for old family friends. What she doesn’t realize is the old family friends also have 2 grown sons, and the art gallery is staffed with a disagreeable co-worker. Nicole is forced out of her comfort zones in many ways, and rises to the occasions. Savannah, Georgia is also highlighted in this fun story.

This was a fun read – especially for a Georgia girl!

I was given this book and had the option of posting a review online.

Savannah, GA is a place I’ve always wanted to visit. And after reading Melody Carlson’s newest installment in her Follow Your Heart series, I both feel like I’ve made a trip there and want to go even more. Carlson has a gift of taking her readers along with her characters to explore the areas in her books.

High school art teacher Nicole Anderson is a likable character. Maybe a little too much so. In her attempts to be personable and nice, she lets others run her over. But in her naivety and her desire to do the right thing, to make a difference in the lives around her means that others take notice.

She is a good role model for the thirteen-year-old girl she takes under her wing (and even for the parents of said teenager). But is she also the perfect match for one of the brothers who have taken an interest in her.

As with all of Carlson’s books in this series, it took me a couple of chapters to get used to the third person POV of only the heroine but I was in Nicole’s head within the first two chapters in Under a Summer Sky and enjoyed taking this journey with her.

I will say I had my opinion of who I wanted Nicole to end up with from the get-go. While there’s some twists and turns in her journey, I was more than pleased with the outcome. I would have liked to spend the rest of the summer with Nicole, though!

Even though this book Under a Summer Sky, is for teens, I still enjoyed it. I read the previous books in the Follow Your Heart Series and they are good. Melody Carlson is a talented author. Under a Summer Sky follows Nicole Anderson who is a high school art teacher. She feels stuck in a rut but doesn't know how to break out. Her mom arranges for her to manage an art gallery in Savannah for the summer. She becomes reacquainted with childhood friends and makes new friends on the way.

This book is an easy read that is clean and appropriate for teens. I thought there was a little too much ghosts and haunted talk, but that's just me.

I am reviewing a copy of Under a Summer Sky through Revell publishing and Netgalley:
In this book we meet Nicole Anderson is a homeschool art teacher who is now being asked to run an art gallery for the summer. She takes the job despite the fact she will have to work with Amrya someone deteemined to make her life miserable.
She soon finds herself along care of one of the gallery owners granddaughters, for a few days. Bernice is a budding artist.
Nicole manages to enjoy her time in Savannah despite Amrya, making friends, selling art, and even falling in love.
I give A Summer Sky five out of five stars.
Happy Reading...

Under A Summer Sky: A Savannah Romance is book three from Melody Carlson's Follow Your Heart series. Nicole Anderson is hoping to have a relaxing summer in the beautiful southern town of Savannah, Georgia. She stays in a home full of luxury and charm and takes a job at a local gallery. She quickly realizes the relaxation turns to stress! Unwelcome guests, bullies, two brothers wanting her attention, and even ghosts. What else could happen?

I liked Under A Summer Sky. I definitely enjoyed the setting and thought Melody Carlson's descriptions of the city were perfect and vivid. The plot and twists were great and I was not sure what I would find on the next page.

I thought the book to be a good, clean, and fun read and enjoyed it. I would give it four stars.

Under a Summer Sky introduces us to Nicole Anderson, a high school art teacher from Seattle, Washington who gets roped into helping her mother’s old friend in Savannah, Georgia. She trades in her summer set on painting and relaxing in order to house sit and manage an old family friend's art gallery.

Quickly settling in to the Graham's lavish home, Nicole gets thrown into the middle of sibling discord between the Graham's brothers, Alex and Ryan. Alex, whom Nicole had a crush on as a teen, is interested in his parent's summer house sitter, despite the fact that he is going through an ugly divorce. Ryan picks up their friendship almost where they left it so many years ago as teens. One slight issue, Nicole is smitten and he is practically engaged to a beautiful Pediatrician.

Nicole juggles a snarly co-worker, dead-set on forcing her to quit; befriending and mentoring Alex's teen daughter, Bernie; and selling quite a few valuable paintings.
Not my typical read, but I did enjoy this light romance, with glimpses of Savannah, both the beauty and the “ghost town”.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley in return for my honest opinion of the book.

Melody Carlson has hit another home run with this book. What's not to like a great plot, beautiful Savannah, Ga setting and great characters. You can not go wrong with this book. I highly recommend to you lovers of clean romance books.

Very enjoyable book! I didn't realize this was the last of a three part series so now I will have to add the first two to my to-read list. I love the fact that the author inserted a lot of the history of Savannah GA throughout the book. I believe that added a great deal. Nicole is a very likeable character. I'm glad she found here backbone and stood up for herself. This is a very inspiring tale. Recommended.

After reading the second book in this series earlier this year, I wasn't even sure I wanted to continue reading the series (because I really didn't care for the second book), but I decided to continue and I am glad I did! I really enjoyed Under a Summer Sky.

I liked the characters. I liked how the story featured art and an art gallery. I liked the town and all the "ghosts/haunted houses" history.

All in all, I really liked Under a Summer Sky. If you like contemporary romance, I think you'll enjoy this one.

*I received a complimentary eBook copy via NetGalley for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was a lovely escape and once I started it, I couldn't put it down. Melody Carlson wove a terrific story filled with wonderful descriptions...I felt like I was part of the story. I was so sad when I realized that I had come to the end of the book.

This was a nice story, with well-developed characters and a good moral undertone. I also liked the setting descriptions - it made me feel like I was back home. :) One thing I didn't like about the story was that some of the characters were not believable. I'm thinking of one character in particular that just does a 180 about 80% through the book and then BAM!, she's good. Real life just isn't like that. I kept waiting for her to reveal her true colors, but no, one kind word and everything changed. I'd like to believe life is like that, but experience dictates otherwise. That sort of ruined the ending for me...

The premise for the story was interesting but the romance was just not developed well. I expected much more depth for the romantic aspects. It ended very abruptly and therefore, a bit unsatisfactorily.

Nicole an art teacher house sits and manages the art gallery of a family friend. Growing up with and vacationing with the sons Ryan and Alex, she had a crush on one while thought the other was a nerd. All grown up after not seeing each other for a few years she soon has a change of heart about both. All this while dealing with the teenage daughter of one of the brothers and a difficult co-worker at the gallery. I spent a summer in Savannah a few years ago and I love the imagery and places that I recognized.
I would classify this as a beachy read. I liked the book but found that it ended abruptly. The goal was arrived at,the end.
I received this book free from NetGalley and Revell for my honest opinion.
