This was such a mystery! I was kept on my toes, and kept guessing with each chapter. I was surprised, yet not with the unfolding of events. I think that is a sign of a great author, one that makes the reader guess till the last page and then has them thinking "oh duh, I knew that".

This was a great addition to a series that I have already grown to love. Zoe and Pete are back and this time are left trying to solve a couple murders. Zoe has to go to New Mexico when he friend Rose's son is a suspect in a murder and Pete is trying to figure out who killed county commissioner Dale Springfield. Pete also is left to deal with a sudden rise in overdoses.

I really enjoyed both Zoe and Pete's storylines in this book and how they eventually tied together. Zoe finds herself once again in danger (what else is new) but she receives help this time from a Navajo man who tries to stop a dangerous man from killing her.

I look forward to reading more about Zoe and Pete. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

First, Paramedic and Deputy Coroner Zoe Chambers finds a dead body near her home in Pennsylvania. Before she even has time to get in the middle of the investigation she is on a plane to New Mexico to find the son of her best friend. He isn’t answering his cell phone and his girlfriend body has been found near a canyon outside of Aztec. She has left Chief of Police and her boyfriend, Pete Adams, to handle the death at home as she gets in way over her head in New Mexico.

I am a huge fan of this series. This author continues to amaze me with each story topping the last. Every time I reach the end I find myself saying “WOW”.

In this installment the pace is quick, a lot is packed into 256 pages. There are two mysteries to solve 1000 miles apart from each other. Zoe and Pete stay connected with daily phone calls until Zoe stops answering her phone and definitely not by her choice. Ms. Dashofy edges right up to the cozy/thriller line that will have her readers glued to the page. This makes for a very exciting read.

Zoe is a strong intelligent woman and she needs both if she is going to survive the trouble she has landed smack in the middle of. She and Pete usually have each other’s back. Where Zoe is more impulsive, he is more measured. They both have the determination for justice to prevail. Separated this time they are dependent on others. But Pete is working with other professionals and Zoe is working with the sister of the guy she is trying to find and one of her friends. So many things could go wrong and do.

Dashofy’s No Way Home is off the charts fantastic! Fantastic characters, fantastic mysteries, fantastic book!! Get your copy and hold on tight, it is going to be a bumpy ride as you find out if everyone make their way home.

FANTASTIC SUSPENSE!

No Way Home will take you on a suspense filled ride from beginning to end! Dashofy's characters are believable, interesting, intense and make you want to be one of their friends. The plot is excellent and will keep you up all night because you have to read "just one more chapter." Dashofy is a new author to me and I found her descriptive writing made me feel like I was right in the middle of the action - seeing the beauty of the settings, feeling the intensity of the darkness, hearing/feeling their (my) heart beating wildly in their (my) chests and wondering about the safety of loved ones. What more could you ask for in a mystery? I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Henery Press but this opinion is strictly my own and without influence.

Synopsis:

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

A relaxing trail ride turns tragic when Paramedic and Deputy Coroner Zoe Chambers discovers the body of a popular county commissioner in her Pennsylvania woods. Inconsistencies surround the horrible “accident,” but before she can investigate further, she’s pried away by a plea for help from her best friend whose son has been deemed a person of interest in a homicide over a thousand miles away. When he vanishes without a trace, his mother begs Zoe to help clear him and bring him safely home. The task takes Zoe out of her comfort zone in a frantic trip to the desolate canyons and bluffs of New Mexico where she joins forces with the missing boy’s sister and a mysterious young Navajo.

Back at home, Vance Township’s Chief of Police Pete Adams must deal not only with the commissioner’s homicide, but with an influx of meth and a subsequent rash of drug overdoses in his rural community. Bodies keep turning up while suspects keep disappearing. However little else matters when he learns that half a continent away, a brutal killer has Zoe in his sights.

Review:

The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional. Zoe is brave, smart and caring. She is willing to go the extra mile to help those in need, especially if it is for one of her friends. Sometimes she leaps before she looks and finds herself in some dangerous situations. It is a good thing that Pete, the Chief of Police, is always watching out for her. Pete is tough, honest and willing to do most anything to make sure that the bad guys are put away. And when it comes to Zoe, he will move mountains to keep her safe and by his side. He loves Zoe and cannot imagine his life without her. Their relationship has grown so much since the first book in the series and I have to say that they are one of my all-time favorite couples. That is what I look for when reading a series, the characters growing and evolving.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The author is very talented in creating suspense and tension with the written word. There are a couple of mysteries to solve in this book and they were both carried on well throughout the entire book. There are enough suspects to consider and enough twists and turns that even the most seasoned armchair detective will have trouble solving the cases. I was not sure that I was going to like the fact that Zoe and Pete were in different parts of the country, each working on separate cases. But the way it was written it worked and it did not bother me at all.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery with great characters, well plotted mysteries and twists and turns galore. You could read this as a stand alone book but I would strongly suggest that you start at the first book and read the whole series. That way you can enjoy them all as much as I have.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank NetGalley and Henery Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

In this book Zoe Chambers is working with horses when she discovers a horse returns without it's rider when she and Allison her friend's daughter go looking they find the commissioner and he's very dead. While this is going Pete Adams is called to the scene of a death of drugs resulting in a young girls death. Can they figure out what is going on? Or are drugs taking over Vance Township? Add that to Zoe Chambers gets called away to New Mexico to help her friend find her son when his girlfriend winds up dead, where is Logan and what is happening in New Mexico?

This book was great and lots of intrique reading it as we are brought back into Zoe's world and to see what is going on with Pete and Zoe and her friends in this one bodies are turning up and Pete and Zoe have their hands full figuring out what is going on especially when Zoe ends up in New Mexico finding out what happened to Zoe's friends son Logan and why he's not answering his cell phone.

I love going back and I think others will enjoy this book with it's mystery and adventure and seeing how it turns out. This book is great as a stand alone or part of the series. Definitely great read for cozy lovers! Can't wait to see what is next for Zoe and her friends!

“No Way Home” is the fifth book in Annette Dashofy’s Zoe Chambers Mysteries series. The storyline is well plotted and the characters are well developed and complex. This is a fast paced book and hard to put down. This book contains a good mix of complex mystery, friendship, trust, and light romance. “No Way Home” is a great read; however, it is more intense than most cozy mysteries and contains some adult language.

Zoe Chambers is a paramedic and deputy coroner for Monongahela County, Pennsylvania. She loves horse riding and operates a boarding stable. While gathering a group together for a Sunday ride, a horse returns to the barn without its rider. Zoe heads out to find the rider and discovers the body of Dale Springfield, the county commissioner, and his autopsy reveals that he was shot. Her position as deputy coroner will allow her to participate in the investigation, along with her boyfriend, Vance Township’s Chief of Police, Pete Adams. Pete is also dealing with a case involving a drug overdose by a teenage girl. When Rose Bassi, Zoe’s friend, learns her son’s girlfriend has been found dead in New Mexico and her son is missing, Zoe agrees to travel to New Mexico to try to find him. Rose fears Logan is injured or dead but the local authorities believe he may be responsible for his girlfriend’s death. Pete is swamped working on the Mr. Springfield’s murder and several drug related deaths in Pennsylvania. He also misses Zoe and is worried about her safety.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

The Zoe Chambers series is a hidden gem in the cozy mystery genre. The incredible character development, detailed and entangled plotlines and superb writing create stories that deserve much more attention and acclaim than they receive. The cute covers are misleading. These mysteries are hard-boiled.

The best in this series to date finds Zoe's relationships with police chief Pete Adams and that of her friend Rose Bassi slowly warming up.

Fracking has Vance County divided into for and against factions. When Commissioner Dale Springfield's horse returns riderless to Zoe's barn her search ends when she finds him dead on a trail. Was it an accident or murder because Dale was leading the anti-pipeline group?

Logan Bassi seems to have disappeared after the brutalized body of his girlfriend is found in the desert around Aztec New Mexico. Rose needs Zoe's help to find Logan but the danger this puts Zoe in is something no-one could have predicted.

The descriptions of New Mexico paint a beautiful and very different country from Vance County Pennsylvania.

Warning - there is some brutal violence in this book. Not a cozy mystery.

Once again I got to delve into the minds of Zoe and Pete as they faced another mystery fraught with tension and suspense. Annette Dashofy is one of the best I've read in producing an engaging story from two points of view, especially with a male and female. The topic is current about fracking and the familiar surrounding cast of characters didn't disappoint. This had an intricate twist of plot that was totally believable and with not exactly a cliffhanger, but rather a situation that provides hope for many more stories to come, both in Pennsylvania and maybe New Mexico. Read it, you'll love it!

This is am incredibly good story.
Deputy Coroner Zoe Chambers is a stong, insightful character and I was pleasantly surprised with the story line. I am not familiar with this author so it's always fun to discover a new to me author.

In this book Zoe discovers the body of the county commissioner when she discovers his horse has returned, riderless.

This explodes into a game of cat and mouse which puts Zoe into some precarious situations.
Also unfolding is the story with her best friend's son, who happens to be missing. Taking off to help her nerve wracked friend, Zoe finds herself in a battle with nefarious foes who would rather kill then face the consequences.

This story tells a gripping story and I felt transported into the action.
All cozy mystery biufs must put this on their to be read list.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this boo provided by Henery Press and NetGalley.
