I was told this book was humorous and yes some parts I chuckled at but for the most part it fell flat
Fantastic. As a self-avowed realist, I so appreciate the author's frank assessment that even the best relationships are not all sunshine and flowers. I'm not married (yet), but I've been with my boyfriend for 4 years now, and ironically enough, this somewhat cynical view of the realities of marriage made me feel more hopeful than any standard starry-eyed wedding toast ever could. After all, who among us can really live up to the ideal that every day after "I do" will be a perfect vision of happily-ever-after? In acknowledging the inherent, ongoing challenges of choosing to coexist with one other imperfect human, Ada Calhoun makes marriage seem even more special for the work that it requires. I would recommend this title to anyone considering taking the plunge.
I thought this book was witty, clever and very true to how marriage is. I think this will be an bit hit and talked about among many friend groups and bookclubs! I found myself telling multiple friends about this book because it connected to a conversation we were having. Great book, highly recommend!
