This was my first book by Hannah Howell and I really liked it. I was a little nervous. I know she has had cheating in some of her books which is why I have avoided her work in the past. I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this book. I thought Artan and Cecily were great. I will cautiously try more from her.

Hannah Howell returned to the Murray Family with another great chapter in that much loved series. You can't go wrong with any of this author's books but this series is a particular favorite of mine. Highland Barbarian is a wonderful story that had charming characters, the usual suspense and a small hint of the mystical.

In this story Artan Murray is doing a personal favor for his old mentor and distant relative when he goes to retrieve the man's neice, Cecily Donaldson. He discovers a nefarious plot against her and becomes determined to rescue fair Cecily, especially as he finds himself attracted to her. That was where Artan had to kidnap Cecily and made a mistake by keeping a big secret from her which comes back to bite him before too long.

This book was another lovely read from Hannah Howell. It had a very romantic plot, an very likeable main couple, and despicable villains. Artan was a strong and courageous hero. Cecily was naive but still had a hidden strength that came out when she needed it. This book was so charming and I enjoyed every page.
