Loved Dagan and Chelsea’s story! If felt too short to me, but maybe that’s because I devoured it so fast. The book only encompasses a few days, so that could be part of it too. Their banter was classic!

The Black Knights are back with another tale of danger and passion that sets the pages on fire.

Z and Chelsey are fantastic together. They run circles around each other, driving one another crazy to no end. Hello Broodiness! If you’re looking for a book filled with amazing banter, intense sexual tension and some of the best comeback dialogue that I have read in a long time. Julie Ann Walker bring everything with Fuel for Fire.

[edit]
After years of dancing around their mutual attraction to each other, things finally come to a head when ex-CIA agent and current BKI operative Dagan Zoelner has to protect Chelsea Duvall, CIA agent on loan to BKI, as she goes undercover in England on a mission to get information about an infamous criminal codenamed Spider.

Things get intense when the mission goes off the rails after Chelsea is discovered planting a virus in the laptop of the man believed to be Spider so that information can be obtained to help build a case against him. After she is extracted from that dangerous situation by 3 BKI operatives (Dagan, Christian, and Ace), they find they must go on the run (including BKI's office manager Emily) in order to escape England and get Chelsea to safety.

As the action and danger intensifies, Dagan and Chelsea realize they can no longer resist the attraction they feel for each other and finally open up to each other mind, body, and soul. Although they finally admit they have feelings for each other, Chelsea is burdened by the fact that she feels she was the reason Dagan lost his position with the CIA and fears that if she tells him the truth she will lose him forever.

This was a great edge-of-your-seat story that kept this reader interested from the get-go. I do have to say that the ending was somewhat anticlimactic but I was glad to see Dagan and Chelsea's story unfold and come to a satiafying conclusion as Dagan has been an important character throughout the whole BKI series. As Dagan said "love conquers all".

Now on to Christian and Emily's story before they spontaneously combust from unrequited lust!

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The Knights are back! This series continues with the story of a sexy special operator and a sassy CIA agent coming together in the most unlikely of circumstances and finding love. I have been a fan of this series since the very beginning and have enjoyed the changes and adjustments to the team and their lives as they each found love with their true mates. Julie Ann Walker is the kind of amazing author that takes us deep into the lives of her characters and allowing readers to experience all new lifestyles, adventures, and dramas that 99% of us could never imagine truly experiencing in our real lives. Dagan has been a little bit obsessed with Chelsea since the first time he saw her years ago, but when his life blew up in his face, leading him to join BKI he never thought he’d see her again, much less have a chance to have her for himself. Chelsea wants so badly to prove to Dagan that she is the kind of woman that can handle herself, but he seems to see her as immature and unable to handle the tasks of her new job. When they are forced to deal with one another again they both come to realize that what they thought they knew about the other is completely inaccurate. The passion flares between them leaving them both burned and what rises from the ashes is truly the phoenix of myth. Dagan has to come to terms with what he thought he needed to do to keep Chelsea safe and the fact that he was VERY wrong. He was sexy, bumbling, silly, and sensual all while making Chelsea fall deeper in love, but boy when he screws up he does it in a BIG way. Chelsea has her own fears and worries about their shared past, but she is unwilling to risk the chance she has to be happy with Dagan by leaving him in the dark. While Chelsea certainly has a few regrets about her decisions she knows that the only way to build a life with the man she loves is to come clean about her secrets, even if it means she loses him. I cried a lot as Dagan and Chelsea dealt with their issues, but I was reaching for ice a few times to cool me down from the heat between these two as well. Dagan and Chelsea found a way thankfully to embrace forgiveness and share their lives and love with one another. I am reminded again and again that no matter what these couples might face, they always find a way to overcome and have their HEA in a big way. Walker remains one of my favorite authors for intense romantic suspense and even though I know the series is ending, I know that whatever adventure she takes us on will keep me a happy reader. As always a magical experience to enjoy the reading about the lives and loves of these sexy and fascinating special operators.

Fuel for Fire is the 10th book in the Black Knights Inc. series, but this is the first of the series that I've read. I thought this would be more of a standalone than it actually was. The romance was definitely standalone (though I think the couple has made appearances in previous books) but the background story doesn't get "solved" in this book. When I started the book I was under the impression that the book was completely standalone, so I thought I would find out who Spider was by the end of the book. Not finding out was pretty disappointing, but I think if I had been an ongoing reader of this series it would have been expected, so I wouldn't have been disappointed.
Other than this small complaint, I actually enjoyed the book and think that I would probably really like the series if I started it from the beginning. I think Christian and Emily will get the next book and with my altered expectations I'm pretty sure I would enjoy that book even more.

Fuel for Fire is the tenth book in the Black Knights Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. I have read most of the series, and think that the romance portion of each story stands fine on its own, however character development and the larger story arcs made the read more enjoyable for those that have been following along. If you are going to pick a random book from the series to read as a stand alone, I think this is one that will be less confusing than the others.

Dagan Zoelner has made three huge mistakes. The first two left blood on his hands. The third left him wondering...what if? What if he had told the woman of his dreams how he felt before his world fell apart? Spitfire CIA agent Chelsea Duvall has always had a thing for bossy, brooding Dagan. It's just as well that he's never given her a second look, since she carries a combustible secret about his past that threatens to torch their lives.

Fuel for Fire is a good combination of action and character interaction. There are plenty of chances for danger and action to leave readers holding their breath, but there is also a solid amount of character development and growth. Dagan is still guilt ridden because of something beyond his control, and considers himself unworthy of love and affection- even if he cannot help his attraction or desire to protect Chelsea. To make matters more difficult Chelsea is harboring her own guilt and attraction toward Dagan. I loved their banter, and that Dagan had to come to terms with the way his words might be affecting Chelsea's confidence. I did feel like I might have missed some character setup from earlier book, whether I missed some or just forgot some of the background I do not know. However, I still enjoyed the read.

Fuel for Fire is a solid installment of the series, with enough of its own story and character development to leave readers unsatisfied with the conclusion, but enough unanswered questions to leave them wanting more.

If you like books with Spies, Bikers and Romance this book is definitely for you. This is a very good series. You can read each book as a stand alone, but I suggest you read from the first book on. I Loved it. I had been waiting for Dagan and Chelsea's story for a while and it delivered, as well as setting up Hot Pursuit!

Full of suspense and intrigue. You are grabbed from the prologue to the last page. Teaming with action at every turn. A beautiful love story between Chelsea and Degan, aka Z. They are on the run together with BKI members Christian, Ace and Emily. No matter where they hide or where they go the bad guys are always right on their heels.
Truly one of the best BKI books. Being a huge fan of the series and author Julie Ann Walker I looked forward for to the long awaited addition. Julie is so profound with her characters she actually makes you feel sad for a dying bad guy. This is a book you will find hard to put down. Think I've said this before but Julie brings the characters to life they almost jump off the pages. Do yourself a favor and read this. You will greatly entertained.

I have loved these books since I found the series shortly after the second book was published. Waiting for the next one to come out is torture, but I'must happy to see the characters grow and develop.

Holy Mary Mother of...this book began with a bang and only got better and better!!! Dagan and Chelsea have been dancing around each other for most of this series, so it was no surprise the had combustible chemistry. The “big” secret that threatened to keep them apart was so painful to see unravel...but love conquers all...so says Dagan.

The set up for Christian’s and Emily’s story continued in this book, as well. I’m surprised Ms. Walker hasn’t had them colliding into bed together yet with the way they go at it! Of course, then what would be the point of Book 11?!

This book also gave us a small glimpse of Angel (a former Mossad agent) and Ace (a former Navy flyboy). While I still miss the old guard of Black Knights Inc., I am loving the fresh faces being introduced. I’m also curious about the future of this clandestine family.

I recently finished Hell For Leather and was really intrigued by Dagan and Chelsea. So intrigued that I just had to jump ahead to their story! So yes, I skipped over 3 books and probably missed some important things (what happened with the president?) but I definitely didn't feel like that caused me to enjoy this book any less.

Dagan and Chelsea have such a fun dynamic--I really enjoyed their banter and was thrilled when they finally started talking about their feelings for each other. I really liked each character and understood their motivations.

The plot was great, as always. There was a lot of action and intrigue, and the pacing kept me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint was that the ending felt just a touch rushed, and I wanted just a little more from that last scene. But I'm greedy like that :)

The supporting characters were fantastic and I can't wait for more! I'm guessing Christian and Emily are up next (yay!) so that book will definitely be another winner. I can't wait to read the next installment!

*I received an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Stevie‘s review of Fuel for Fire (Black Knights Inc, Book 10) by Julie Ann Walker
Romantic Suspense published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 04 Jul 17

There seems to come a point in almost every long-running US-set series, when the characters get sent off to the UK for their next adventure (it happens in reverse too, although not so often, with many British characters venturing only as far as the next county rather than onto another continent altogether). While this tactic can shake up teams and settings, breathing new life into possibly tired dynamics, there are also many pitfalls for the unwary writer, particularly those with loyal British readers. Even one small error or assumption can throw such readers out of the story, and there’s always the potential for them not to return, even after the stories have resumed in their more regular settings. On the other hand, if a story is particularly good in every other respect, even I can be persuaded (mostly) to forgive an author one or two slip-ups.

In this instance, not only is the setting different to usual, although we have been overseas with the Black Knights before, but the initial team is somewhat smaller than we’ve been generally used to seeing. A select group are hiding out in a London flat while one of their number, CIA liaison Chelsea, attempts to plant a bug in their suspect’s computer while working undercover as his PA. Meanwhile, the four other members of the team are left to kick their heels, and, in one particular case, lust after Chelsea.

Dagan and Chelsea worked together at the CIA, before a mission-gone-wrong left the rest of his team dead, and Dagan out of a job. Chelsea knows more about the background to that one than she’s letting on, which is why she’s not acted – so far – on the mutual attraction she shares with Dagan. When the current mission is partially successful, and partially a huge screw-up, the pair are thrown together and forced to confront their feelings at last.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Dagan and Chelsea, as well as the various action sequences the guys and gals are thrown into. I also enjoyed the interactions between the other members of the team – and the allies who come to their aid – especially the discovery that not all Black Knights are heterosexual. The one big jarring issue for me was the backstory to the hold the villain of the piece has over his chief henchman. I just wish US authors would remember that the UK has its NHS for healthcare provision, and we aren’t dependent on insurance for the majority of treatment options. That subplot could still have worked – albeit with a few tweaks – as to the experimental nature of the treatment the henchman’s mother had needed – but the fact that it was based on a fallacy bugged me throughout much of the book.

I’m not particularly looking forward to Christian’s story, which seems likely to be coming next in the series – his English background has been a little erratic in the books so far – but I am keen to see the Black Knights continue their pursuit of their current arch-nemesis, and intrigued to see how things pan out now they have a new President in the White House (though not one as shouty and orange as the real current incumbent, as far as I can make out).

Grade: B

As much as I was looking forward to finally getting the 411 on Dagan and seeing him and Chelsea finally come together, this book just didn’t really do it for me. I simply liked it. There were some great scenes peppered throughout the book and I liked where the whole Spider storyline was at in the end, but there were also a few little things that just didn’t work for me and in the end I just never got fully invested in the journey like I wanted to.

Despite my tepid feelings, I did like Dagan and Chelsea. I liked getting inside Dagan’s head and learning about the events in his past that led him to BKI. He’s all kinds of protective alpha male, who tends to put his foot in his mouth, but means well in the end. Chelsea was one tough cookie. She was put through the ringer and came out stronger for it. I loved her sass and her loyalty to her family. Their journey to their HEA was filled with quite a few bumps in the road and the angsty-ness was kicked up a notch as they dealt with their feelings towards the other, what they thought they wanted for their futures and that big ‘ole secret Chelsea had in regards to Dagan. That secret and it’s unveiling was a big one, but I understood both sides reactions and liked how things worked out for them in the end.

I really wanted to love this one, but it just didn’t turn out that way. I still loved the bantering between the characters, Ace I absolutely adored, but one of my ‘issues’ was the use of slang and homegrown sayings throughout the book. I honestly felt like it was too much. I totally understand how those little details can give depth to a character and give the reader a good feel for who they are and where they came from, but after awhile it was just a bit too much for me. I’m hoping this was just one of those “It’s not you, it’s me” things and that Hot Pursuit, Christian and Emily’s book, will do for me what this one didn’t.

Chelsea is a CIA analyst working undercover as a personal assistant to a man believed to be the notorious "Spider". Her mission is to get into his office and get a USB drive onto his computer and send it back to headquarters. Her teammates Emily, Christian, Ace and Dagan are on pins and needles as her back-up. They are all trained for many situations, she is not, and Dagan is consistently vocal on his thoughts that they are making a big mistake in letting her go under. She gets the job done and is trying to leave when she is detained as the security breach has been detected. Her teammates come to her rescue but the trouble really heats up as they have to get away and then get out of the country. Dagan and Chelsea have been dancing around their attraction for each other which lends to Dagan's brooding about her being involved in this mission. Their being on the run for their lives brings the truth of their attraction to the surface, but Chelsea has a big bad secret that could threaten this new relationship. Fast, paced full of action and suspense. Book 10 in the Black Knights Inc. delivers an edge of your seat, emotional story.

I’ve received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fuel for Fire is part of the Black Knights Inc. series, but can be read as stand alone.
It’s the story about Dagan Zoelner (former CIA field agent, now member of BKI) and Chelsea (CIA analyst), who works as the CIA liaison to the BKI team.
They have a shared history from when they worked together for the CIA and Chelsea holds a secret that involves Dagan from an assignment gone wrong. Working together closely again, brings to a head their mutual attraction but Chelsea tries to hold back as she thinks the secret she holds will ruin any chase she has with Dagan. Emotions are boiling and come to a head as truths start to be revealed. Things heat up between them as they go on the run after Chelsea's under cover mission to gather evidence on the elusive Spider goes wrong. Throw in Two dead bodies, a trip across the Chanel in a drug smugglers submarine, hiding from the authorities while they fight to expose the real bad guys build the suspense. [book:Fuel for Fire|30166742]Julie Ann has way of amalgamating the romance between the lead characters and the suspense and action with the villains to create a great read. The sub characters of the rest of the BKI team members make this a must read book. I recommend reading the entire series.

Also Chelsea knows a secret that will change Dagon past in the group . Will they both help each other saving Chelsea from Spider and Chelsea saving Dagon from the bad wrong wrap he got

This book was a couple that I'd been waiting to get together for a few books. Dagan and Chelsea had chemistry from the beginning, but I wasn't as invested in this story as I had been in past stories. The overall arching story line made progress with this book, but will have to be continued with the next book. The story itself was good and I was glad to see these two finally get their story.

If you’ve been following the Black Knight, Inc series than you can’t have possibly missed the sparks that fly between Chelsea and Dagan (or just “Z”) over the course of this series. Finally that powder keg is about to explode and the cinders are going to be very, very hot.

Both Chelsea and Z are holding on to secrets and a past that does’t bear talking about. Yet Chelsea has some mind shaking secrets that she’s terrified of sharing with Z in fear that everything they’re building between them will implode. Add that to the mission that went sideways forcing them to return home with Z as her bodyguard and it’s a mix sure to blow up on someone.

Chelsea and Dagan have been circling around each other for long enough. Their romance is just as fiery as I expected it to be. I enjoyed their story very much. It’s fast paced, snarky, bantering and so many secrets that could get in their way. There were a few times that I felt I’d had enough of the background with Chelsea’s past, but it didn’t really take away anything for me, simply that it’d been said a couple times, enough. That’s simply a personal thing on me totally.

If you’ve followed the series, you’re going to love Chelsea and Dagan’s romance – if this is your first rodeo with these crews then I’d suggest you start at the beginning. You’ll get a great set of stories and understand every single nuance that happens… in my opinion.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Great book!! Such an action packed romance. Loved it from beginning to end. Really made me wish I had read all of these books in order so I knew all the characters that I met in this one. I can't wait for the next book because she led up to it in this book and now I have to find out what happens.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Julie Ann Walker never disappoints, and Chelsea and Dagan's story is full of the usual adventure, angst, passion, and love. I enjoyed the other members of the team present for this overseas operation and look forward to their upcoming stories.
