I loved this book. It took my longer to get into this book than the rest, I think it was the setting, not totally sure. But once I did this book was one I couldn't put down. I love the Black Knight series and anxiously await the next one. Another hit, keep the series coming.

Dagan and Chelsea's story is action packed, suspenseful and full of sexual tension.

They've both harbored a deep affection for each other - but neither knew it until their chemistry comes to a boiling point and they are forced to admit to their feelings. Unfortunately things are not that simple for Chelsea as she's been hiding a secret from Dagan and knows once he discovers it all of his good feelings will go away.

While ducking bullets and trying to find their way back to the United States after their mission goes to the wayside - Chelsea and Dagan are also trying to cope with their emotions regarding each other, something that's not quite so clear to them anymore.

Fuel for Fire was an excellent addition to the series and delivered quite a story on forgiveness, on love overcoming, and so much more. It also brought quite a bit of action to not just our two main characters but also those on the mission with them.

A great book about another couple of members of the team. It certainly feels like the team is at a turning point and I wonder where they will go from here. I can't wait for the next book.

The Black Knights are an elite black ops team using a custom motorcycle shop as their cover. Chelsea Duvall is the CIA liaison for the Black Knights. She and Dagan Zoelner, a former member of the CIA, now a member of the Black Knights, have a history.

Chelsea, who has minimal field experience, is sent in to work for a man believed to be the head of a crime syndicate involving human trafficking, illegal weapon sales, piracy, etc. to gather Intel and get access to his computer. When she is discovered, several members of the Black Knights descend to grab and protect her. She and Dagan are intentionally separated from the group and head back to the U.S. while the others act as a wall of defense. We watch as both teams are chased and defend themselves.

Both Dagan and Chelsea are dealing with things from their past. Chelsea is keeping this “big secret” from Dagan. They each have harbored feelings for the other that they never dreamed would be returned.

I had trouble connecting with these two. I was more interested in the banter between Emily and Christian. I got a kick out of Ace getting aggravated with Emily and Christian’s tireless quips, digs and barbs. And now there is a possible love interest for Ace.

The ending left me with lots of questions. A few I felt could have been answered in this book; the rest hopefully will be answered in the next book(s).

This can be read as a standalone. I have read a few of the others in the series but not all. We get a few glimpses of past characters, but no updates on them. Overall an okay read. Waiting for Emily and Christian’s story!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author and NetGalley. There were a couple of character name mix ups that I hope were fixed in the final editing.

Review: FUEL FOR FIRE (Black Knights Inc.) by Julie Ann Walker http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-96o

Another exhilarating ride with the Black Knights Inc. It had all the camaraderie, constant changing danger and smoking hot romance that you come to expect in this series. Chelsea was very relatable and realistic – which made her fun to read. Dagan is of course, hot, alpha and gorgeous, but he has a tender and fun side that drew you in. Together, they were heartwarming couple. I loved it and couldn’t read it fast enough.

Fuel for Fire is an intriguing contemporary action-suspense romance book by Julie Ann Walker.

After a devastating incident on the job as a CIA field agent, Dagan "Z" Zoelner lost his job, struggled with family issues, and never had the opportunity to ask Chelsea Duvall on date. Now, Dagan is temporarily in London working on a serious case with Chelsea and the Black Knights Inc.

Even though they have been secretly attracted to each other for years, Dagan and Chelsea are hesitant to date, until a traumatic event pushes them together. However, Chelsea is hiding a major secret that might negatively impact their blossoming relationship. As the story unfolds, Dagan and Chelsea struggle to survive, yet still have time for romance.

Since it's the tenth book in the Black Knights Inc series, it's recommended to start with the first book to properly understand various references and to previously meet the secondary characters, yet it's not necessary to read the books in order.

Fuel for Fire features odd phrases and quirky cliches as a backdrop to this contemporary action-suspense romance.

I have always wanted to read Julie Ann Walkers books so when I got the opportunity to read "Fuel for Fire" I jumped at the chance. This book had a great mix of romance, mystery and thriller all rolled into one.

Having not read any of Julie's book in the past I was not sure what I could expect with her writing style. I found that she did a great job of being descriptive of both the scenery and the characters. In regards to the main characters I found that she did a great job of giving you enough history as she could to help you understand them but left enough mystery that kept you reading. In addition to the main characters, Julie also did a great job of introducing the other characters and a little bit of their stories that will hopefully be seen in the future books.

I found that the plot of the story was also very catchy. I enjoyed how Julie had the romance and mystery/thriller aspect in this book. It had you on the edge of the seat throughout the whole book wondering what was going to happen to the characters in the end. In addition, she also left you want to read the next book in the series to find out what happen next to the people in the organization.

I would recommend reading the books in order in the series though as I found lost at times because there was aspects of the story that I think were transferred from one book to another. In addition, I would have liked to read about the starting of Black Knights as I think it holds importance to what the organization was and why the characters in the book were part of it.

I am very interested in reading more of these books in the future and would recommend this to individuals who like romance, mystery and thriller all in one book.

If you like military romance novels full of action, you will love Fuel for Fire. Dagan (“Z”), BKI member and Chelsea Duvall, CIA liaison to BKI are the main characters of this book. I loved their story. Z and Chelsea used to work together at the CIA and have a history that only Chelsea knows about.

This book opens with five members of the BKI team, including Z and Chelsea, in London to uncover the identity of a criminal known only as “spider.” They think they have found him and against Z’s wishes, Chelsea is undercover working for spider and tasked with planting a computer virus to help them dismantle his network.

However, when Chelsea gets caught planting the virus, the team jumps into action to rescue her and then make it out of the country. However, spider is well connected, including within the English government, meaning that getting out of the country is going to be tricky. This is another great action filled installment of BKI with plenty of character development to keep you enthralled with the story and the romance deepening with Chelsea and Z.

My only negative note about this book is there seems to be a disconnect from the prior book about BKI and their status. I won’t give it away, but apparently there is a new president elected between books, which affects BKI and the storyline to this book. It came up as the book ramped into action, and just seemed like something that should have been mentioned or explained elsewhere. This didn’t detract from the overall storyline of the book or my enjoyment, just left me wondering where they will go from here.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

FUEL FOR FIRE is the tenth installment in Julie Ann Walker’s contemporary, adult BLACK KNIGHTS INC romantic suspense /military, action series focusing on an elite group of ex Navy SEALS, FBI, CIA and military heroes headquartered at a custom motorcycle shop known as Black Knights Inc. The men and women of Black Knights Inc are so far under the radar that they are blacker than Black Ops. This is former CIA agent Dagan Zoelner, and current CIA counterterrorism analyst (on loan to BKI) Chelsea Duvall’s story line. FUEL FOR FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Dagan and Chelsea’s relationship begins in TOO HARD TO HANDLE #8.

Told from several third person perspectives including Dagan and Chelsea FUEL FOR FIRE takes the BKI team to Europe as they search for the mysterious person known as the ‘Spider’. Along with former British SAS agent Christian Watson, and one time CIA operative Emily Scott, former Navy pilot Colby Ace Ventura, Dagan Zoelner and Chelsea Duvall embark on a mission to ferret out the true identity of a man whose illegal and business ties reach around the world. But when their plan begins to crumble, and Chelsea is identified as the source of stolen computer information, the group find themselves on the run from the SAS, Scotland Yard, and numerous ‘men in black’. What ensues is the building romance, between Chelsea and Dagan, and the fall out when Chelsea reveals the truth about a former mission that went horribly wrong.

FUEL FOR FIRE is a friends to lovers story line that sees Chelsea and Dagan’s worlds implode when Chelsea confesses to sins of the past. As former colleagues in the CIA Chelsea has access to information that if revealed may have saved Dagan years of guilt and shame. With Chelsea’s revelations Dagan’s reaction to the woman he thought he loved is heartbreaking and sad. The $ex scenes are limited, seductive and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The palpable sexual energy does not go unnoticed by the other members of the group including Emily and Christian, whose own back and forth verbal bickering is fraught with angry sexual tension.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the previously mentioned BKI agents as well as the addition of another potential member of the Black Ops team- Rusty Parker-another former member of the CIA currently running a fishing trawler in the English Channel. The requisite evil has many faces including British businessman Roper Morrison, and Morrison’s head of security Steven Surry whose love for his mother proves desperation comes at a cost.

The world building takes the BKI team through Britain, France and back to the USA but their search for the elusive person known only as the ‘Spider’ is fraught with too many dead ends and bodies.

FUEL FOR FIRE is a fast paced story of action, suspense, romance and heartbreak. The premise is engaging and energetic; the romance is provocative; the characters are lively, spirited and emotional. The majority of the story line covers less than 24 hours in the life but there is plenty of activity to push the team forward towards the next installment. My only issue, once again, are the inner monologues and thoughts filled with euphemisms, colloquialisms and figures of speech meant to add humor but I found myself cringing one too many times.

Another fun addition to this series! Lots of action and witty banter, and not only from our main couple, Chelsea and Dagan, but from Emily and Christian too.

While there was an abundance of action, I feel like I missed out on the romance. Chelsea and Dagan were already in love with each other, but neither felt they deserved to be together. Once Dagan heard Chelsea's secret, he reacted the way you would have expected. Thank heavens he didn't wait too long to make things right :)

*thanks to the author for sharing a copy of this with me*

Julie Ann Walker is the BEST action romance writer! Dagan and Chelsea's story is filled with heart-dropping action that left me begging to turn the page. When Chelsea is finally able to go out in to the field to show her strength, it leaves Dagan in a comparable position. He cares for her but can she care for the man he truly is? Chelsea's out to prove to Dagan that she's tough enough to get the job done. But when she puts herself in the line of fire, Dagan is the only one that can save her...but can he forgive her?

The BKI boys are always a ball of fun and I'm definitely loving Walker's quick jump over the pond to see our new recruits. Dagan is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it, and this time it's Chelsea. He's finally giving in to the feelings he's had for years and can't believe his ears that she's felt the same. The chemistry between these two is just unbelievably sexy!

Chelsea is this courageous whirlwind of girl power that is the perfect combination of brains and balls. Dagan and her have spent years trading sarcastic barbs but when it comes down to it, he trusts her to make the right decisions in their case. Add in the crazy mastermind criminal that was in their sights is now on their tails and this is one crazy ride. I can't wait for more of the new BKI crew...Christian and Emily?! And uhh...Ace...buddy there better be a story for you soon!

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love Julie Ann Walker's BKI and was so excited to read Dagan and Chelsea's story. I feel in love with them in Dan's book and knew they were going to be my favorite. Between Chels mother calling constantly and Dagan's brooding shelf they were going to be electric when they finally got their chance
together. Also love the fact that he is form Cleveland, Ohio (hometown!). Julie Ann Walker never disappoints her readers and continues to wow them with each book. She is definitely the queen of romantic suspense.

Dagan and Chelsea's story is unique because they already both know how they feel for the other one and are not afraid to let it be known. They are instead trying to navigate a relationship that might be unstable because of the burdens they both carry.

In Chelsea's world, family means everything to her and she will do what she can to make sure that her mother is taken care of no matter what the cost. But when Dagan is thrown into her path, she can't ignore how he makes her feel she just wishes he would see her as a capable field agent and not someone who should be safe behind a desk.

Dagan is trying to restart his life after what happened in Afghanistan with BKI, but carries the guilt with him every day. When he is partnered with Chelsea, he knows it's a mistake waiting to happen especially with how he feels about her.

As their mission becomes comprised they will be forced to face not only their enemies but the feelings for each other. And they will need to learn to trust the other person with what has happened in their life, the good, the bad and the ugly. Their love for each other will be tested and it will surprise both of them when truths come out.

Will they let their pasts come between them or will love conquer all and make them realize that as nothing is ever perfect and that you need someone to lean on every once and awhile?

*thank you to the author for providing an arc*

This is a crazy mixed up adventure with the newer members of BKI who come from various backgrounds including the CIA and SAS. They are on assignment in England to back up CIA and BKI liaison and analyst Chelsea Duvall as she goes undercover to infiltrate the computer of a suspected crime lord.

This might be the BKI book most full of sexual tension, verbal sparring, and flirty and dirty banter. It deals with not one couple, but also the possibility or two more. And there is a lot of fussing, fighting, repression, avoidance, and denial going on.

Dagan "Z" Zoeller and Chelsea have had an attraction and hidden feelings for each other for years through their CIA work and it has continued. But they hide it under antagonism and arguments. He is always being overprotective and making her feel like she is not equipped to her job. And she is not afraid to fire back at him. She is clever, outspoken, spunky, and has a big heart. But she is keeping a big secret from him that has to do with his past. Dagan is brooding, bossy, lethal, and appears detached. His past mistakes still haunt him and make him feel not good enough for her, and that he has to atone for his sins. So they both have reasons that they have not acted on their attraction.

Emily Scott is the new BKI office manager and Mother Hen. She is brazen, unfiltered, nosy, and resourceful. And he has the hots for the stuffy, uptight Brit and former SAS agent, Christian Watson. She has a rule about not fraternizing with co-workers, but she continually picks fights with him to rile him up. Christian is fastidious, serious, and thrives on control and order in his world. He would love to see Emily submit to him. But these two are like kids on the playground that pick on the one they like and will never admit it.

And the fifth wheel on their team is Colby "Ace" Ventura. He is the more easy-going and funny member of this group. The girls don't fight with him because he is their gay friend. He ends up being the one to break up a lot of the squabbling. But he also might find someone to interest him along the way.

What starts out as a pretty clear cut assignment turns into a huge mess with this group struggling to even find their way out of England. Tension is running high, feelings and desire are being exposed, and they are literally on the run for their lives and being foiled at every turn. So it is an action-packed, intense, and dangerous situation for them all.

As Dagan and Chelsea get closer and more serious, her big secret weighs heavier on her. Their physical chemistry is off the charts and their feelings have been growing for years. It seems like they might be close to finally getting it together. But there is still something standing between them that could change everything. Dagan has always put Chelsea up on a pedastal, will he be able to forgive her for her own mistakes?

This is told in multiple points of view so we get into the heads of all the main characters and even the villains. There are a few cameos from old friends and some new intriguing additions. There are some plot points still left open and I assume will continue into Christian and Emily's book, Hot Pursuit. I am looking forward to more with Ace too, and maybe one of the other new mysterious men.

Dagan Zoelner and Chelsea Duvall have been banging against each other for years. Hostile toward each other for reasons we have never really been privy to until now. Small bits and pieces of their histories have been given to us in small doses in previous books. The sexual tension off the charts. Finally Chelsea has her big moment in the field on her own. It all seems to going really well until it just isn't. Dagan to the rescue though with the help from a few other BKI's and they are on the run. Lives in the balance Dagan finally tells Chelsea how he feels. Chelsea is forced to tell a secret that will devastate Dagan. Besides a banging great story with the main characters Julie Ann Walker writes beautiful secondary characters as well. You're not just entertained by the main love interests but dazzled by her secondaries as well. She sets up future books in bits and pieces. Just enough to make you get excited by what's to come. Dagan and Chelsea are these wonderful people who blame themselves for things they weren't guilty of. The sizzle between these two was off the charts. There was something about Dagan when he first appeared in this series that got to me. I was so happy to finally see him get his happy ending. He more than deserved it.

Dagan Zoelner is a newer member of BKI, and has a few black marks on his career prior to joining the team.

Chelsea Duvall was privy to his secrets, as she worked with him in the CIA when everything went down. She still works for the CIA and is on special assignment with the Knights as they track down a global crime leader.

There was a spark between them during their years with the CIA, and now that they are working in close quarters again, the struggle to maintain a professional relationship is real. Especially as Z must watch Chelsea put herself directly in the line of danger in order to trap their target.

The sexual tension between these two is off the charts. But secrets and regrets keep them from broaching the topic with each other, instead they interact with antagonistic comments and remarks. Working in close quarters, sharing a safe house with two other teammates means there isn’t a whole lot of room to hide feelings, and everyone around them can see exactly what is building between them.

I liked how this book focused on not just Chelsea and Dagan, but also laid foundations for two other couples. The bits and pieces of the other couples mesh really well with Chelsea and Z’s story without pulling attention away from the main, something that is hard to do for secondary couples. For me, seeing these other couples teased makes me more excited for their own possible future books, as I have had a hard time connecting with the new members at times.

The action and suspense are high as they work to trap a criminal mastermind while also remaining undercover. The plans they made quickly fall apart and they find themselves scrambling for their lives. Every time I had to put the book down, I found myself wondering how they were going to work their way out of each new challenge they faced.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Scorching!
Fuel for Fire burns with swift and engulfing intensity! Dagan and Chelsea are both strong, smart, independent, and determined individuals. The heat between them is palpable, even sweltering! As their mission goes sideways, their passion ignites. Surviving the mission may be the easy part compared to surviving secrets and guilt. It comes down to one question "Does love conquer all?" Along with Dagan and Chelsea, we get a glimpse at several BKI Team Members. The intrigue and suspense continues to build in this series. I can't wait to unravel more of these interesting, unique, and dynamic characters. Julie Ann Walker fully engages her readers with heart racing action and explosive passion. Fuel for Fire ignites the senses and warms the soul!

In "Fuel for Fire", former Cia agent, now BKI operative Dagan 'Z' Zoelner, and CIA analyst (undercover) agent Chelsea, will get their story. Dagan and others are overseas on a BKI op protecting CIA liaison Chelsea, but they must run for their lives when Chelsea's cover is blown. Dagan has a thing for Chelsea, and the feelings are mutual. He will do what needs to be done to protect her and get them back to the states. They are running one step ahead of guys out to kill them, with a pace that is suspenseful, drama filled, with twist and turns. But, Chelsea is harboring a secret about Dagan's firing from the CIA. How will that play out for these two in their way to a HEA? There are a couple of old friends that make an appearance, but the focus is on Dagan and Chelsea. I recommend this one or any of the 'Black Knight Inc.' books as they all standalone. Begin anywhere and enjoy romantic suspense at its best. I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Fuel for Fire". My opinion is my own. This is mine 5 Stars!

Veronica – ☆☆☆☆
Fuel for Fire is full of action. A team of five from Black Knight Inc spend much of the book trying to escape England after Chelsea's face is plastered all over the world media when she, as part of their undercover mission, helps them hack a very powerful bad guy's computers.

The story is also jammed full of heat. Chelsea is the CIA liaison to the Black Knights and has no field experience, something Dagan keeps reminding her of, but she goes undercover anyway.

Chelsea has known Dagan since he was a CIA agent and the two of them are crazy about each other and completely unaware of how the other feels. But with all the danger they face and running for their lives, it doesn't take long before they admit their attraction to each other and things between them turn scorching hot. I loved the way their romance is woven through the action story. It kept me engaged from go to whoa.

One thing I love about this series is there is always a secondary couple in the background who will become the stars of the next book. In this case we get Christian and Emily, whose fantastic chemistry comes through in their fun banter.

Fuel for Fire is another great instalment of the Black Knights Inc series. I'm looking forward to reading Christian and Emily's story, Hot Pursuit.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars of brooding complication!

This is the tenth book in the series, and Ms. Walker once again manages to create an original plot to back up the romance, making it an exciting read as well as a hot one.

As we are in the UK for much of this installment, we get to see members of the wider BKI family. We also get lots of hints of future relationships, which for an ardent fan is great news, as the thought that the end may be near is always a worry! And they will be fabulous stories if the hints are anything to go by!

Dagan has been a constant in the BKI family, desperate to compensate for past wrongs, and although at times it was heartbreaking, it was great to finally get his story told and his future settled. That said, it really isn't an easy ride, even if he and Chelsea acknowledge and act on their attraction. After all, everyone has secrets and some have more power than others. My advice is keep the faith, and, if necessary, put your Kindle down for a minute or two, take a deep breath, and carry on. It is very satisfying, if frustrating – and also quite tense – at times.

Thank you, Ms. Walker, for another great installment and for the hope that there are more stories to come.

Fuel for Fire by Julie Ann Walker is the tenth book (10th) book in the Black Knights Inc series and my first book by the author. I was worried at first that this being the tenth (10th) book in the series I would be lost, but my worries were for nought. It can be read as a stand-alone.

What the story is about.
The story follows Dagan Zoelner, a former CIA agent and a covert operative for Black Knights Inc. He is broody and with good reason. Dagan had experienced immeasurable loss in both his personal and professional life. However, through all these changes the one thing that remained constant was his feelings for the spunky CIA agent, Chelsea Sullivan.
Chelsea has been carrying a torch for Dagan for as long as she can remember. However, she never revealed her feelings for fear they were not reciprocated. Their current assignment has placed them in a situation where they are forced to confront their feelings for each other. However, Chelsea carries a secret from both their pasts, which if revealed destroy both their lives.

My Perspective

The Story
The story was all I had hoped for and more. It was action packed, suspenseful, humorous and explosive. I was pulled into the story from the outset and had a hard time putting it down. The fast-paced plot, slow burning romance, nail-biting moments, the sexy banter and the verbal sparring held me captive from start to finish.
The story was told in alternate third person POVs, which I had no problem with, as I could connect with the characters and the story. This is one of those times that this POV worked for me as the story was written in a way that made me feel as if I were on the inside looking out. The author’s descriptive style of writing helped to enrich my experience with the story.
I thought the suspense was well done. It was done in such a way it had me on the edge of my seat. I loved that it did not overshadow the romantic elements, which I find to be a major problem in most of the book I have read within this genre. It was perfectly balanced.

The Main Characters
I enjoyed the interaction between the main characters. Their connection was heartfelt and explosive. Their banter was funny and filled with lots of sexual tension. I loved the pace at which their relationship developed. Their feelings for each other had been kept under wraps for a long time so this was definitely not a case of instant attraction. Their constant bickering and antagonism towards each other was a cover for their true feelings, but their friends saw what they failed to see.
Dagan is haunted by the mistakes of his past and believes he is not good enough for Chelsea. I felt his pain of having to work so closely with the woman he loves, but not being able to act on his feelings.
He is protective of Chelsea and wants to keep her safe, but she believes his actions are as a result of him not having confidence in her abilities as an agent. His protective nature grew a notch when their current assignment placed her in harm’s way. She is spunky and as no qualms about going toe to toe with him when she feels he is behaving like an ass. However, her acts of bravado covered up a deep-seated fear that a secret she has been keeping will one day blow up in her face.

Supporting Characters.

I enjoyed the dynamics of the supporting cast, which helped to make the story entertaining and riveting. They were well portrayed, making it easy for me to like them and eager to know more about them. I especially loved Christian and Emily who were member of the team. It is evident that there is chemistry between these two, which I am eager to see the author explore. I enjoyed the camaraderie shared between the members of the team, which was fun and entertaining. The ease with which they had fun at each other’s expense demonstrated the strength of their friendship

Conclusion:
The ending as it relates to Chelsea and Dagan’s relationship was neatly wrapped up, and it left me with a smile on my face. However, as it relates to their assignment, which involved taking a notorious criminal syndicate. The leader of the syndicate who went by the moniker Spider has proven to be elusive and difficult to capture. He always seems to be one-step ahead. It is clear; they have been in pursuit of Spider prior to this instalment.

Recommendation:
Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy Fuel for Fire and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I also plan to read the previous books in the series, as it appears I have been missing a lot

I was excited to finally get Chelsea and Dagan's story. We have met them over several books and I couldn't wait to see how their story played out. Dagan and Chelsea are both tormented by events from the past. One event that affects them both. As they admit their feelings for each other, the past threatens to tear them apart.

This book has all of the thrills of a BKI book. The story is non-stop and a real page turner. We get to catch up with old friends and get to know new characters. The story is so well written and the characters so well developed. I love how this author develops the characters through a few stories before giving them their own stories. I love this series. Great read!
