Loved this fun and flirty book! It was so easy to read and so hard to put down - i can't wait to read more from this author.
Loved this sexy and sweet story! The writing was superb and I loved the characters! Great book!
Piper Lawson wrote a good story between Ava and Nate. They wanted to be together but since Nate was the opposing attorney, a relationship was out of the question while the lawsuit was ongoing. My only complaint was the lawsuit (which kept them apart) was cleaned up so quickly in the end and it seemed like this could have happened much earlier in the story so we could actually enjoy their relationship.
loved the story and look forward to looking at more in the series!
Stripped by Piper Lawson was fantastic! Such a talented writer.
I received an early read from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 'Stripped' by Piper Lawson is a story about a Designer (Ava) who is struggling to make it. She meets Nate ( a Lawyer who represents a client who is suing Ava), they have ONS and reunite 7 months later. Both H & h are sweet & likable but for me, the ending was a bit disappointing as it didn’t have the HEA that I look for in my fictional romance books, hence for the 4 stars..
Well, that was... nice.
Nice characters, nice plot, nice love story, nice writing.
I was expecting a little more, though. A love story a bit heavier on the taboo aspect of falling in love with your opponent's lawyer, more tension and unfulfilled longing, instead of elitist family drama and detailed descriptions of clothes and designing.
Yet, while this book certainly wasn't the perfect fit for me and it didn't exactly blow my mind, I enjoyed it well enough. I liked Nate and Ava, individually and as a couple, the supporting characters were charming, and I didn't even see the little twist at the end coming.
I'm sure other readers who are more into chick-lit than I am will eat this stuff right up.
Ava Cameron has moved to NYC with her bestie to launch their new clothing line. Things aren’t moving the way she planned…
“I’ve been in New York four weeks. I’m behind on the spring line, a week from homeless, and getting sued by the only person in the whole damned city who’s seen me naked.”….”Quite the Trifectea,” Nate muttered……Apparently I’d said it out loud.
This is pretty much how things are going for Ava. Almost a year ago while visiting New York, Ava gave in and had a one night stand, a PHENOMINAL one night stand and now he was sitting across from her serving as council for the man who’s suing her. Needless to say in her book, Nate Townsend is now public enemy number one; and she would be okay with that he’d stop appearing a nice guy.
Nick has led a privileged life; he’s had access to all of the best opportunities but he has scars. Ava seems to be the only person who can be his true self. He’s been obsessing over the stranger who helped him is time of need then proceeded to give him the best sex of his life. Now she’s popped up in his life again and they are on opposite teams.
This book had a quite a few ups and downs for me. Not emotionally, but in terms of holding my interest. I liked it but there were times where I felt scenes dragged just a bit too much. I liked the banter between the two and I found myself giggling just enough. There were plenty of times when I didn’t want to like Ava but her “word vomit” tendencies won me over. She was a freaking firecracker, very “in your face” and I loved it. The ups definitely out weighted the downs in this book. This was a perfect rainy day read.
I really liked this one! It was smart, sassy, funny, and real. Ava and Nate had great chemistry. She is a fashion designer being sued for stealing someone's designs and he is he lawyer on the opposing side. Now if only they didn't have the greatest night of all time a few months ago, things would probably be a little easier when they are around each other... of ya, they live across the hall from each other too!
Like I said, great story! I was so happy with it, I went and got the rest of the books in this series!
Although this is the second in a series, I found this to be a really solid stand alone novel and I don’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the first in the series before picking this novel up. Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I loved the hero and heroine as well as the secondary characters of the novel. I loved Ava’s spirit and her voice was fantastic! Nate was very serious and more difficult to connect to until he finally opens up and you can’t help but like him. The way they came together for each other was quite sweet! The pacing was well done! There were even a few laugh out loud moments which is always a nice surprise! I loved watching Ava and her business partner navigate their new business and how that business played a bit role in the overall story. Really nice little novel that I quite enjoyed!
I enjoyed this funny emotional read. Ava is funny. She is loud and sometimes needs a filter. Nate is the lawyer representing the man that is suing her company. Even though they are attracted to each other Ava wants nothing to do with him. When Ava offered to help him feelings grew between the two as they spend time together. Secrets and his family placed a wedge between the two however they learn to trust in their love.
Loooooooved Stripped! Ava and Nate were just too cute together. I loved that they bantered a lot, and while it sometimes got a bit serious, for the most part it was just that, banter. Nate's story about his brother brought me to tears. I appreciate it when an author can make me feel what the character is feeling and it really showed through when Nate talked about his brother (and also with his hard-ass dad).
Nate's dad was a piece of work though. I get that you want things, etc, but honestly, I can't see doing it this way. Jerk.
Ava was the kind of girl I want to be friends with, even though I know nothing about fashion. She just seems like a lot of fun. Her and Lex were awesome best friends and I liked the introduction of Jordan into their friend circle. I can't wait to read her story and go back and read Lex's!
A very sexy read with great tension and a surprising amount of depth. I loved the complexity of each character that lies just beneath the surface. The "forbidden" aspect of the romance made it all the more appealing.
I'd love to read the other books in this series.
This was a emotional rollercoaster with a great ending! The constant pushing and pulling between the characters really built their dynamic, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
This book was a wild New York ride. The heat between Ava and Nate was panties on fire, and the banter between them was fantastic. The characters were all well developed and believable, I couldn't help but fall for Nate and also feel heartbroken for him. I was rooting for Ava and the author makes you feel like she's a friend.
Ava is a spitfire with a big heart and big plans for her clothing line, but is also a bit of a skeptic when it comes to matters of the heart. Nate has had his entire life laid out for him, but is that all he wants?
I look forward to other books by this author, she brings you into the story effortlessly and it doesn't let you go. I couldn't put it down!
Starting your fashion empire in New York city with your best friend is fun. Being sued for copyright on fashion is not. Having slept with opposing counsel a year ago and making discovery at deposition is also not fun.
There are some over the top moments but it's romantic fun and you like the characters. Seems to be a series but very OK as standalone.
Ava is an up and coming designer, recently moved to NYC where everything she has worked for starts falling apart. To top off the mess that her life has become, she is being sued... and the lawyer? Happens to be the one night stand she can't seem to forget.
Nate is hiding some very deep issues, behind his work and by doing anything his father asks of him. So, when Ava pops back up in his life, why is he having such a hard time keeping her at a distance like he can do with everyone else in his life?
This was a great book. I loved Ava and Nate's progression of their relationship, and how Ava helps Nate see what is really important in life. There is some great back and forth between them, that is funny and realistic at the same time. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
I'm reading this series out of order, but it doesn't matter one bit, my enjoyment has not been compromised and if anything it's made me realise I need to read book 1. I'm loving Piper's writing, her dual POV, her vulnerable yet strong characters and her hot as sin sex scenes. Stripped follows Travesty's designer Ava as she moves with her BFF, Lex, across the country to New York where she meets her first and only one night stand sat across a table in her lawyers office. Following this meeting is my favourite quote from Ava.
"I’ve been in New York four weeks. I’m behind on the spring line, days from homeless, and getting sued by the only person in the whole damn city who’s seen me naked."
That pretty much sums up how Ava's life goes from herein out. I love the banter and chemistry that is generated between Nate and Ava. Nate is completely scrumptious, I mean if I wasn't a vegetarian I would consider eating the guy up. He's just perfect, ok, maybe not perfect, he has a few annoying traits but, that aside I loved him. Another winner for me, I just love this series. I was provided with a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
