Can fate be Forbidden?
How far would you go for love?
Is love enough, or are there limitations?
What secrets does Jack have?
Jodi has the genius ability of masterfully creating a story that for me personally was the "ultimate" trigger and made it into an irresistible unputdownable read!
Exciting, passionate, and heartbreaking. The characters Jack and Annie came to life and took us on an emotional wild ride.

This book was amazing! I loved this book so much! Top recommendation! I couldn't put it down!
I've just finished it and I'm sad because it ended. I would love to read more about them!
I fell in love with Theo Kane. Until today my favorite JEM character was Jesse Ward, but now I love Theo as much as Jesse. They are similar but different too. He wanted Izzy and he did everything for it, he was stalking her (like Jesse stalked Ava). Theo was a big, muscular frightening man, but Izzy wasn't afraid of him. She was attracted to him, first in ten years she felt lust, chemistry. Theo seemed to be a cold, influential, dangerous man with guns and illegal businesses.
But he was so much more. He had a heart and I loved how he cared about Izzy, he treated her like a queen.
I liked Izzy too. She went through a lot but she was strong. I loved them together. Izzy was sassy and funny. I really liked her!
They both had secrets these made the story more interesting. And the sex scenes were hot.
The story was written in Izzy's point of view, but the epilogue was written in Theo's POV. I loved it! The epilogue was sooo sweet!
Congrats Jodi, you made it again! This book became my favorite and I definitely want it on my bookshelf! I loved the plot, the characters.
Gentleman Sinner is a sweet, sometimes funny and hot angsty romance.
I'm curious if there'll there be a book about Callum? I would love to read his story too!
I recommend this book to those who loved Jesse Ward. You will love Theo Kane too!!!
5* Favorite!!!

Just the title alone should give you a clue that this book is chock-full-o-angst. Two people with crazy chemistry that shouldn’t be together. Watching them fight the pull was awesome. I love the angst and the banter and the pent-up passion. Even though you know they shouldn’t be together, you can’t help but to cheer them on. Go in with an open mind and you’ll love every word.

I’m a huge fan of JEM, This Man series was a favorite of mine. The Forbidden not so much...I’m not sure what it was but I skimmed over half this book. Hoping her next one will be a better fit for me.

I don't think there's a book I wouldn't read from this lady. Everything she writes is pure gold to me.
I cried so much in this book. The pain these two went through and the struggles were so real.
Thank you for allowing me to read and review.

Like anything this author write, I read and I adore.
This book is so different from any of her previous work and since it's forbidden, as the title say, I couldn't resist!
Right from the start I was mesmerized..Annie and Jack fell an attraction so powerful and so strong, they are both hooked..
You can guess, since it's forbidden, that he is not for her..well, he really shouldn't..yet their connection is so strong, the pull so alluring..the heart wants what it wants and there's no stopping it.
There's heartache and guilt piled upon guilt, but there's also this need and this want..I think this conbection has a life force of its own.
I guess some people might be put out and I think these people will miss her best story yet..the characters feel so real and the story so raw..I, for one, loved the story and believe that in a lifetime you'll meet your person once and that person's soul speaks to you..and it doesn't matter the circumstances..it's never wrong when it's so right in your heart. There are circumstances and circumstances, I will admit..but if it's done out of love and not out of spite, I can understand.
Anyway, I absolutely loved the characters and the story!

FIVE forbidden stars.
description

How could something so wrong be so right? The Forbidden, by Jodi Ellen Malpas, is utterly addicting and unputdownable. Jodi Ellen Malpas spins a tangled web of emotions between Jack and Annie. They know what they are doing is wrong, but can’t deprive themselves of finding happiness.

I savored Annie and Jack’s story. Line by line this story exploded with a whirlwind of emotion on each and every page. The ugly and intense emotions that go along with this type of affair are not sugar coated. Normally when I read books that contain a cheating element, I find myself not liking one of the guilty partners. Not this time. I loved Jack and Annie, and I wanted them to have it all.

If you have a serious problem with cheating, just don't read this book. The author is upfront about the type of romance this is going to be. You might not like the subject matter, but please don't find fault with the author. Her writing is flawless. This is a heartbreaking, real, and raw romance. These characters are flawed and they own it. They complete each other in the best and worst possible ways.

The Forbidden is total Kindle Crack and one of the best books I have read this year. Jack and Annie’s story will leave you breathless. This book is epic!

To say I was apprehensive starting this one is an understatement. I'm very picky with books labelled as 'taboo' so to read one without having any idea what the subject matter was a little unsettling. I personally wouldn't have labelled this one as taboo. It deals with a tricky subject matter, and some people will find the storyline shocking, but for me it wasn't that bad.

with that in mind it's pretty difficult to review this one without giving anything away.

What i will say is that Jodi's writing is utterly gripping. I've been a huge fan of hers forever and with each new release her writing does nothing but improve. The story itself is so fantastically paced, it had me gripped within the first few pages and still hasn't let go some hours after finishing. This feels like the most realistic of Jodi's books to date. The depth of emotion it made me feel was a little astounding at times.

JEM has innate ability to make her readers fall for these anti-hero's. Even with the book being told entirely from Annie's POV, it's impossible not to be smitten with Jack and to be rooting for the HEA.

4.5 stars.

Wow.
WOW.
Just wow.
My feelings are all over the place but there’s one thing I know and that’s I’m absolutely blown away by the war honesty and emotion of this book. This is a story that many people will hate on principle alone. It’s a story that they’ll want to judge and condemn. It’s a story that will take you out of your comfort zone and likely never get you back to it. And I have so much respect for this author for daring to go there
In a time where there’s so many authors out there that write what they think the mass readership wants, this a story that was written solely because the author wanted to write it. She took a colossal risk with it. A risk that she even acknowledged won’t sit well with most. But this reader? I. Loved. It.
I knew that smile was dangerous. A man who can bend a woman to his will so easily and so soon couldn’t be anything less than lethal. And the fact that he got me with his wicked game means hats off to him.
The Forbidden is about love that’s unexpected and defies all rules. Annie is a woman that has dedicated herself to her career and making something of herself by the time she’s thirty. Having beat her time goal, she’s now a successful architect who’s never experienced an incendiary connection with any man. She’s practically given up on feeling that sort of connection with anyone until a total stranger tilts her entire world on its axis.
You’ve clearly never been consumed by a man.” He pauses, giving me a moment to agree, but I don’t. I’m fixated on him. “But one day a man will come along and he’ll swallow you up, Annie. Blindside you.”
And blindside her he did.
I don’t want to give away the story, and I implore you to go into this book with an open mind and no preconceived notions.
Tell me to go,” he whispers, the demand licking its way from the base to the top of my spine.
“Tell me.”
“Go.”
“Not a fucking chance.” He swoops in and takes my mouth as if he owns it—deeply, passionately and with an unfathomable conviction.
Did I want to judge these characters for their decisions? Absolutely. But there was just something so honest about them. They were so viscerally real and imperfect and while you want to condemn them for their choices, you really can’t, or at least I couldn’t. The author did such an incredible job with the character development that you truly understand the why’s of their decisions. My only quibble is the slightly over the top situation at the very end, but it also did nicely to tie up some loose ends, so I understand the necessity of it.
I applaud Malpas for truly stepping outside the box and writing what her heart wanted because you could truly feel that reflected in her writing. The Forbidden was raw, emotional, and completely unforgettable. It brought every emotion to the surface and while it was the furthest thing from conventional, it was also a book I won’t soon forget.

“You possess me. You own me. You rule me. You are everything to me, Annie Ryan.”

Jodi Ellen Malpas is back with a standalone page turner; a story of intense, knee trembling passion, heartfelt emotion, a forbidden love story that saw us completely involved in Jack and Annie and their plight. This was a forbidden romance in every sense of the word, and it’s one we believed in.

“Stop fucking lying to me! Stop saying what your head is demanding and start listening to your fucking heart.”

Annie Ryan hasn’t never been swept off her feet. In fact, she’s never experienced love with a man. Intense passion? Emotional involvement? Not that either. Instead, Annie turned her attention to pouring her passion into her successful Architectural business she has built from the ground up.

However, whilst on a night out with her mates she’s blindsided when she experiences the intense pull and chemistry with Jack Joseph. His mere presence sends her heart racing, sends her knickers in a twist and sees them spending a night of unbridled passion, only for Annie to get cold feet and bolt without so much as a goodbye, the next morning.

“If I ever lay eyes on you again, Annie, I can’t promise I’ll do what’s best and walk away next time.”

As fate would have it, Jack and Annie’s paths cross again under complicated circumstances. It turns out Jack owns a construction business….that’s right, they’ll be working together! Now, Jack and Annie are compatible on every level. Physically, mentally and emotionally – they’re perfect for each other. So, when they meet at Annie’s party a short time after a night of wicked sex, they can pick up where they left off, right? Wrong! Jack turns up to Annie’s party, totally clueless to the fact he will once again come face to face with the woman who had recently shook his world.

Well, it’s her alright and things become awkward because Jack is there with his wife! Yep, Jack is married. He’s forbidden fruit! Albeit Jack’s marriage is anything but happy, but he’s married and therefore off limits. However, try telling Jack and Annie’s treacherous hearts that!

“I’ll hold your hand through this if you hold mine.”
“I’ll never let go, Annie. Not for anything.”

We lived and breathed the potency of this story, believing in the confliction Jack and Annie were both experiencing. The clandestine catch ups had us holding our breaths, the confrontations with friends and loved ones had us clutching our hearts. We understood everyone’s perspective and we desperately wanted Jack and Annie to find their happiness and boy, did we have to work for it!

‘I know that him plus me equals amazing. I can’t resist him; I’ve tried so bloody hard. I want him. Need him. ‘

We especially love Jodi’s male characters and in Jack, this author given us a man of contradictions, who brought with him so much depth. Sure, Jack displayed the alpha tendency this author is synonymous with, however Jack also showed a searing and beautiful vulnerability. Jack is a victim in his marriage yet this did not emasculate him in any way. Not in the least, it made him stronger in our eyes. A man so desperately unhappy in his marriage, and so blissfully happy when he’s with Annie, yet wanting to do the best for both. We felt everything he was going through.

“Don’t make me give you up, Annie.”

Fans of stories with angst, heartfelt emotion, scorching passion, and edge of your seat drama, you’ll l enjoy this one.

A romance focusing on a forbidden relationship between married man Jack and single woman Annie. Fans of this author will enjoy reading her usual elements a story that revolves around a troubled hero and an indecisive young woman. It is a challenging storyline and may not be for all readers out there. I was put off most of all by the book not being well written, the writing just seemed sloppy and the story jumped around.

At first, I was really into this story. The author did an excellent job of making you feel the forbidden desire. Yes, it is an affair, but the pull is still so strong. Later, my rating dropped some when the characters started doing such dramatic things. Later abortion is described as hideous and immoral. I support a woman's right to choose so this scene was offensive to me.

So, I want to start this review saying, I am one of those people who actively avoids any books with cheating/adultery in them. While I know these are just books, the subject can hit a little too close to home. That being said here is my review.

This book touched a lot of me in different ways. It made me think, it made me cringe, and it made me just feel! I haven’t read a book in a long time that has made me question things and has given me anxiety. There were times I had to literally put my Kindle down and walk away. I had to try and wrap my head around things.

“You are everything to me, Annie Ryan. My pulse, my heartbeat, my breath. Everything.”

~ Jack

I didn’t want to sympathize with either Annie or Jack. I didn’t want to feel anything but annoyance and hate for them but I couldn’t help it. I felt their passion, their happiness, their heartbreak. I felt everything. I got lost in their world. That is what a book is supposed to do, make you get lost and feel. It is never a guarantee that you will feel what you want to feel, or I should say what you think you should feel. This book made me feel though. There were times I wasn’t comfortable with what I was feeling but I was feeling.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a read that will make you think, feel and question, if you are looking for a love story that doesn’t fit into a box, if you are looking for passion, heartache and love grab this book.

This was another enjoyable book from Jodi Ellen Malpas. I really liked the idea behind the story line and on the whole enjoyed the meeting of Jack and Annie. It was lots of fun and there was definitely plenty of humour in the story.

Annie is a great character. She's not got much time for men, and doesn't have anyone in her life. Partly because she's never felt that connection with anyone before, but also because she's concentrating on work and her career as an architect, spending her evenings doing drawings and working.

But when Annie meets Jack, everything she's ever known is thrown out of the window. All those feelings she's never experienced before suddenly become real.

I enjoyed the connection between the water characters and could really feel the predicament that Annie found herself in. It at the same time, there were elements that didn't make me think it was 'Forbidden' as such, and not quite as taboo as I was hoping for.

Overall the story flowed really well and I like JEM's writing style. The middle did lull a little for me, and I found the story to drag a bit. I was just wanting the characters to get on with things and make decisions. Having said that there was a great bit of action towards the end and a lovely ending to the story!!

Overall a very good read and one I shall be adding to my paperback collection!!
