There's something about an In Death book that is comforting.
It is like coming home to an old friend; a hug from your mum.
It took me a little while to get to this book (sorry about that!) but I knew what I would be getting, and that is a little bit of heaven (Roarke) and little bit of hell (Eve's work)
I kind of guessed the culprit earlier in the book (all of the looking at things through Eve's eyes has taught me a thing it seems!), however that ending!
I can't wait to see where this series takes us next
I understand this book is one in a series which I have not read so perhaps that is why I found several aspects difficult to stomach. I found it very wordy in parts, I am not sure if the author was trying to bulk up the book, but I found this distracting and even boring in places. I thought the plot was a bit thin which surprised me, as I have read other books from this author and really enjoyed them.
Utterly riveting, cunningly written and bursting full of character.
This was another good story by JD Robb. Engaging, and easy to read. At times I felt it could have moved a bit quicker, or lagged, but overall it was an enjoyable thriller and I would read others.
Fans of J.D.Robb will be thrilled with the 44th book in this series featuring Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her cohort of helpers, including gorgeous husband Roarke. Eve and Roarke are on their way home one night when a young woman stumbles into the street in front of them. She has been attacked and her attacker looked like the devil.
Investigating, Eve discovers other attacks have occurred, all with a violent rape and burglary but this time the attack has resulted in murder. It is clear that the man behind the masks is becoming more violent and it is imperative that Eve finds him before more people are murdered. Eve and Peabody and the rest of her team, ably supported by Roarke, gets to grips with the backgrounds of the wealthy people who are being targeted, and the reader easily gets caught up the police work involved in solving the crimes.
Witty repartee between Eve and Peabody gives a lift to the often dark moments in the book, and the steady and deep relationship between Eve and Roarke is as satisfying as ever. A theme of domestic violence and how it affects women pervades the book and gives the plot depth and complexity.
Books in the In Depth series are always rewarding reads and ones that fans know they will enjoy.
This was an interesting read with good characters. A bit too futuristic for me, but was interesting how the author went about putting the story together.
Another winner.Eve has another serious case on her plate and she isn't too sure what has happened yet. A young woman has been beaten and raped, her husband killed but why? Death isn't finished it he has just started. The more Eve & her team dig the more victims they find but the motive still isn't clear.
Will Eve be able to find the killer before he kills even more people or will he be laughing at them all?
Another great story just love Eve, Roarke and the rest of the characters, just great to see them grow as the books more forward.
Tales From The Heart ~ Leanne's blog review from NetGalley thanks to Hachette Australia.
I've been reading this series for 17 years now and I'm never disappointed. It's crazy that this is the 44th book and I'm not at all over it. The author takes me on a journey, makes me fall a little more in love with Roarke with each book. Don't get me wrong Eve rocks, her attention to detail as a cop makes for an interesting tale.
I had an inkling who the bad guy was this time but expected Ms Robb to toss in a red herring to throw me off. Instead we got an ending that I didn't see coming at all.
Great detective work, an insight as usual into their private life and a crime well solved.
I loved this story and I highly recommend it.
