The idea of this book seemed quite interesting to me. But while reading it, it wasn't like that all. Things were rushed and the plot was a bit of ... a mess. It had lots of potential, but it didn't quite reach it.

Disclaimer: I was given "The Soul Catcher" for free through Netgalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. Possible spoilers ahead!

I'd like to start off by saying this was originally a DNF for me. I tried to read this ARC, I don't know, maybe a year ago? and I just couldn't get into it. Recently I was between books to read, so I decided to give "The Soul Catcher" another go!

In the end, I'm glad I picked it up again. The story has good bones, you know? It was sometimes hard to follow and other times I simply wanted to punch the main character in the face, but, you know, it was a fun & short read, so I could be persuaded to pick up the sequel.

Definitely content with the two-star rating, though, for whatever that's worth.

Do I recommend this book? No.
Will I read the sequel in the future? Maybe!

This story is about Jemma, a twenty-five year old call center operator. According to her, she is plaques by visions which started when she was a teenager. Family and friends never believed her when she told them of her gift. So for ten years she kept too herself for fear of triggering another episode.

Jemma encounters a woman one night on her way home from work and foresee's her death. She goes to the cops to try and help, because she feels guilty for not saving the woman earlier. What she encounters is not what she expected walking into the police station.

Overall, I thought this book was really good. It truly kept me entertained from beginning to end. There is a lot of character development through the pages as well. I must worn you, this book does end with some unanswered questions, but not in a true 'cliffy' kind of way. It's a book wrapped up within a book with some 'minor' questions that linger in you head.

Loved it and can't wait to read the next book!

Wow, what can I say, I absolutely loved this book and read it in a day.
The lead character is a kick ass female who has visions and can see ghosts, she gets reluctantly roped into helping find a sick murderer by another bunch of supernaturals with different and interesting abilities, I can't wait to read more about the various characters and what their background stories are, hopefully more than just one sequel is on the horizon.
Well written, easy to read and leaves you wanting more, brilliant!
If you love Keri Arthur then this is definitely a novel for you.

This is a fast read, at a bit over 100 pages, and I felt like it has a lot of promise, but a lot of it is rushed and the lack of information in a first book is hard to get a handle on. Jemma sees visions if she touches someone and their deaths are soon. When she has a vision of a woman getting murdered by a serial killer, she finally gets the courage to go to the police and report what she knows. Little does she know, that there are more people with abilities – and she’s forced to stay and relive visions of deaths over and over again. But she gains some allies in the group…that may just save her life.

I liked the beginning of this, and I think that the storyline has a lot of potential, but I would like a lot more information. Because I’m a hard core reader of this genre, I was able to latch on, but it would have been a better book if it hadn’t felt so rushed.

The Soul Catcher by Rowanna s Carberry.
Spirit-speaker. Death Seer.
To preserve her sanity, Jemma lives her lie—that she is normal. As a child, her psychic gifts cost her everything. So when she foresees a woman's murder, she does nothing to prevent it and unwittingly helps a serial killer get away with another murder.
Guilt-ridden, she reports the crime only to find herself thrown into a world she didn’t know existed. Coerced into working with the police, battling to keep herself alive and dealing with newfound emotions, Jemma is forced to use the gifts she sees as a curse, to save the lives of others.
Absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved Jemmas character.
This had me gripped from start to finish. Read in just a few hours. Can't wait for more. 5*. Highly recommended. Netgalley and weaponry co-op.

This book was so disappointing. It felt very rushed, there was no time or care given to character development or the plot or the relationships. It felt like it was written very quickly in order to finish it but it wasn't finished by any means.

I think if the author used this as a skeleton, it could be fleshed out into a good, solid book.

Birth of a great series is witnessed!
A heroine cursed with the ability to see the future – but only the deaths of the people she touches Jemma has spent most of her life training herself to never, ever touch or be touched by anyone. Then, a simple slip on the street outside her local tea shop, and her whole life changes. She witnesses the murder of the woman she touches. After dragging herself to the police, she is jailed. She is only let out when she is forced to help a task force of others with special powers track down the murderer, a serial killer who may be more, or less than human. Her only relief is Ripper. A sexy police officer who has the ability to relive others memories.
If you don't fall instantly for the protective, sexy, psychic Ripper, there is something wrong with your heart. If for no other reason, you should spend the night with him, reading this story. I was willing to sacrifice myself to help that taskforce just for him!
Jemma is no one to sneeze at! Her steel spine and strength are something to look up to. She is sly and unwilling to take crap from anyone. Of course, that means she is in customer service, on the phone. Anyone who has ever worked a call center will recognize that special hell she is going through right there and instantly respect her for sticking it out, day after day.
The killer is interesting but no where as interesting as the taskforce members – from the pushy, cruel leader who will do anything to keep his people working to the witch to the demonologist.
Snappy writing and careful plotting make this an great mystery, pay attention to everything because the resolution will have you going back to make sure you understood!
Awesome read!
