Between 1-1'5 ★ and just because of the great idea this book had qlabout back bloods as shapeshifters, mages... and the world it constructs.
It began as a magnificient rush: the aliens, the pills to suppress emotions, slavery, war... the mistery of the black blooded ones... amazing ideas and execution. And then it all fell flat as the book kept repeating itself: bad guys after them, they win, more talks and preps, bigger bad guys after them, they win, escape, more talks and... yeah, you know the drill.
This book promised a lot, and the initial idea and world is amazing, but I felt it needed more... spark, more feelings between the characters...

Ridiculously boring and downright a freaking chore to try and finish this book

Aberdeen Dareday is one of a select few survivors of the apocalypse being guarded by aliens - or so she thinks.

Her world is turned upside down when the emotion suppressing pills don't work on her as they do on everyone else. She has to run for her life as well as figure out who and what she is.

It's a scary and varied world she finds outside of sanctuary. We discover it alongside her as she learns about herself and her surroundings.

Interesting plot. Maybe a little too much supernatural. It was hard to keep up at times with the information dump. It's good character development, but the relationships between the characters need a little more depth.

Overall, an original and interesting new addition to the genre.

Wow I am hooked. This book has it all, it is a Hunger Games meets Vampires and Werewolves.

Aberdeen Dareday, is different from all the other survivors of World War III, who live on the alien ship that crashed to earth to help try to save it. All of the survivors are forced to take pills to stop all emotions, but for some reason they don't work on Abey. Then one morning Abey wakes up different, she thinks she is sick but soon learns that the aliens who are suppose to be there to help them are actually wanting to use her. Abey discovers she has these strange new powers which enable her to escape. When she does escape she quickly learns everything she has ever been told has been a lie. Soon Abey discovers new friends and lots of enemies. Abey has to figure out what she is, who she an trust, and what she is suppose to do.

I was completely hooked on this book from the very start. I love Abey and Ash and cannot wait to find out what happens. I do not like that we are left waiting for more and I have no idea when the next book will be out but I promise it will be on my kindle shelf as soon as it goes up for sale.
