Wonderful balance of dark and light themes. Macabre shopping for funerals by the adorable Mrs B with her Serbian accent and funny mispronunciations and the lightness of young love in summer. We read about class differences and family pressures but in an enlightening way through the teen voice of the male protagonist, Briggs. I rode waves up and down, chuckling out loud and then becoming seriously sombre as I contemplated life. Highly recommend!
