Abby Rhodes who recently moved to Blink, Texas feels a connection to a haunted house. The house was the scene of a murder three decades ago. She’s not alone in sensing the house’s secrets; her psychic friend, Marlowe, confirms that spirits reside there, and they seem to favor Abby.

Jordan Tunson is Julian Gatewood’s son. Gatewood was murdered in the house where Abby now resides. Jordan inherited his father’s company and has expanded it significantly. He finds himself drawn to Abby and the mysteries surrounding the house where his father met his tragic end.
They embark on a journey to uncover the truth about the restless ghosts. But there’s a complication: Jordan’s ex-lover, Robin, refuses to let him go. Robin’s desperation leads to shocking lengths as she tries to reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers.

I love a good paranormal tale and I love JD Mason! SEDUCING ABBY RHODES is filled with twists, secrets, and spirits. J.D. Mason skillfully crafts a multilayered storyline, that kept me engaged with well-paced storytelling. The end may feel a tad rushed, but the overall experience is a satisfying blend of romance and supernatural intrigue.

Seducing Abby Rhodes by J.D. Mason is the second book in the series to feature characters from Blink, Texas. The first, The Real Mrs. Price, is sexy, thrilling and with just enough of the paranormal to make you wonder what is and what isn't real. Seducing Abby Rhodes tells a very different story with the same mix and does it just as well.

Abigail Rhodes buys old homes and renovates them to sell. But the one she finds in Blink, Texas is too hard to give up. Plus, there is something about this house that calls to her and in time seems to take a part of her with it. Something that looks very much like spirits. A local psychic tells Abby that what haunts this home is the passion of its previous owners and the blood that was shed by them. Abby will not be dissuaded from buying the home and soon fixes it up well enough to move into it herself. But soon the spirits fill Abby's dreams and she wakes breathless and filled with a passion she cannot quench.

Jordan Gatewood's life has been a roller coaster ride of betrayal and secrets. He has decided to find out the truth of what had happened to the man who had been his adoptive father. Jordan finds himself in Blink, Texas and in front of the old house where his father had been murdered. What steps out of the house is something he never expected and will change him completely.

Robin is Jordan's ex-fiance and when he dumped her without explanation; it has left her confused and bitter. Now seeing him fall for another woman, she is determined to that Jordan will be his or he will be destroyed. She digs into his past and uncovers the secrets that he has been hiding since his father's death.

Okay I admit, this is serious Spanish tella-novella stuff here. Regular, petite girl with self-esteem issues who works hard and takes care of herself falls in love and heavy-duty lust with a rich guy. Then the rich guy who has a dysfunctional family dynamic and finds himself unhappy even though he's filthy rich. Yes I know money doesn't buy happiness but I'd like to give it a try someday anyway. Of course comes along the ex-girlfriend who is rich all on her own and with a model kind of body and tre-kinky. You have to wonder if she really loves Jordan or if its just the idea that a short working class girl is someone he prefers to her.

Then there are the ghosts or spirits or what have you. They're just really horny for one another.

Yes this has all the trappings of being ridiculous but in Mason's skillful storytelling come out to be something more. Something sexy and touching and real. Ghosts and all.

I absolutely love The Real Mrs. Price and one of its advantages is that I did not have high expectations when I first got the book. It totally surprised me with how good it was.

I came into Seducing Abby Rhodes with the expectation that it would be good and it did not disappoint. A terrific and fun read.

This book did not disappoint! It delved into big city corporate interests and small town pursuits, alongside the paranormal realm of wandering spirits, culminating in a fitting conclusion.

JD Mason’s Seducing Abby Rhodes is an otherworldly romance. The main characters, Abby and Jordan are drawn together by a force beyond their control. The question is will the mysteries of the past be enough to compensate for the realities of today?

Seducing Abby Rhodes is a story of intra-racial identity, class, privilege, and let’s not forget the ghosts. Readers of Tina McCoy Ansa’s The Hand I Fan With will enjoy this story. Like Ansa’s work, this novel mixes small town love with paranormal phenomena. There seems to be more of the story to tell, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a sequel.

This is the first book by this author that I've read and it. won't be the last. This story is the perfect mix of romance, suspense with a hint of paranormal. The characters are really well written and so sweet in there interactions. This book has some intense hot and steamy scenes which work well within the story. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

Can you forgive yourself? Abby has just bought a new house it needs tons of work but she is up to it but she keeps on getting these strange vibes from the house so she gets her friend Marlowe to come and see for herself as she feels spirits. There are spirits there that are looking for something or someone but they don't want to harm Abby.
Jordan knows that he shouldn't be coming to look at the house where his father was killed but something is calling him and that is when he sees Abby and she seems to be the only thing that matters. Jordan is not your average man he is a successful businessman that takes what he wants, he is cruel and ruthless in the pursuit of what he wants. But he knows that he can't go there with Abby it would be history repeating itself all over again. He tries to forget her but Abby needs his help to find out more about the people that lived in her house so he agrees to help her find answers. Unfortunately Jordan knows who killed his father and he knows that he can't ever turn her in as it is his own mother. He needs to stay away from Abby but he can't and he promises her things that he has no right too. There is nothing like a woman scorned to destroy that one bit of happiness in your life and now he has allowed Abby to be destroyed because of his guilt and pride, will Abby ever forgive him? Can she find peace for the lost soul that lives in her house so at least they can find their happiness in the after life. Will Jordan just allow Abby to disappear from his life, he can't be that cruel to deny them happiness?
A real intense read of mistakes, pride and just maybe love.

Abby is a contractor who buys a haunted house and refurbishes it. She and her psychic friend know the house is haunted but, for some reason, Abby feels welcome there. Jordan is the multi-millionaire owner of a huge corporation. He has been having an affair with a lawyer working with him to acquire a government contract. For some reason, Jordan is pulled to the little house where he knows his stepfather had a decades long affair with a woman and, had a child with her. He was also murdered there. Jordan meets Abby there and, feels a sudden and, impossible to ignore, fixation and compulsion for Abby. These two fall in love but, the relationship has many mountains to conquer = The ghosts of Jordan's stepfather and his mistress = Jordan's former 'friend with benefits', who is vicious and furious when it comes to being blown off by the man she believes she loves and, = Family secrets that start tumbling out at the most inopportune times.
This book was absolutely fascinating to me. Constantly moving, endlessly interesting and, unable to put down!
I did not want to STOP READING!!!

If you enjoy your romance with a hint of the paranormal, a crazy ex-girlfriend who is willing to do just about anything to get back the man that she has claimed as her own, and a love interest with a checkered past and a mama who is devious and dangerous, pick up a copy of Seducing Abby Rhodes.

In Seducing Abby Rhodes, Abby is inexplicably attracted to an old run down home that she is planning to fix up and flip, but the house comes with unexpected occupants who have a mission of their own. The spirits inhabiting Abby's house are unsettled and stuck where their lives ended. Abby, and soon after, Jordan, are both going to play a significant part in ending what was started by violence. Jordan has lots of secrets and skeletons in his closet that would put off most people. He is not a man to be trifled with, and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty when he feels it is necessary.

I've only read one other book by Mason, and that was The Real Mrs. Price, which I enjoyed and it helped that I read it before Seducing Abbey Rhodes. It provided a little bit of backstory for this one. It is not necessary that you read The Real Mrs. Price or any of the other books that are set in this world to enjoy Seducing Abbey Rhodes, but I do think that it would have been helpful if I had. I am now intrigued enough by what happens in this one to want to go back and read the other books that lead up to Seducing Abbey Rhodes. Because let me tell you, the other characters' stories (including the dead ones) must have all been a hot mess!

There are a lot of players in this story, which made the story feel a little crowded at times. However, once I got everyone straight in my mind and things started to unfold and unravel, I was invested in the story and read through it quickly. I look forward to reading more stories set in Blink. There's a lot happening in that little town!

As a J. D. Mason fan, I was thriled to read this book. Seducing Abby Rhodes allows us readers to see a diffferent side of Jordan Gatewood, the usually evil, cold, and conniving businessman. Robin gave him a run for his money, but in the end, love conquered! Jordan and Abby formed a sweet relationship that provides such a wonderful addition to the Beautiful, Dirty, Rich series. I enjoyed this romantic, spicy read and recommend it!

3.5*

This is the first book I've read by this author and it turned out to be an interesting read although I'll admit I struggled a little early on partly because I didn't like Jordan. I will point out that we're not supposed to, his flaws and failings are here for us to see but it's written in such a way that while I didn't particularly like him I also didn't dislike him and that's important because had I disliked him this book wouldn't have worked for me.
Also it took a while to settle into this book, characters are introduced and for a while I wasn't sure exactly where this was going and who everyone was but it all came together.

The major players are:

Jordan Gatewood - a forty-nine year old billionaire with a painful past and a whole wardrobe full of skeletons. His wife of five years committed suicide because she loved Jordan while he cheated, lied, ignored and dismissed her until she couldn't take it anymore and took her own life.

Abby Rhodes - is a small town girl with a natural beauty. Despite living in a man's world working construction she's happy in her own skin owning her own contracting business and she's just purchased a haunted house.

Robin Sinclair - is always perfect she comes from money and she's both beautiful and intelligent, she has her sights firmly set on Jordan and be becoming the next Mrs Gatewood.

Frank Ross is an ex-policeman who's just been tried for the murder of Lonnie Adebayo and with the jury hung he's out, for now.

All the major players are in play and as we read their stories and parts are slowly revealed. There's some fabulous secondary characters here as well particularly Phyl and Miss Shou.

Abby can't really explain why she bought a house knowing it was haunted and Jordan finds himself on Abby's doorstep without really deciding to go there, something about the house is pulling them in.

I was offered this title and I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately the writing and the characters fell flat for me and I felt like the author was trying to tell too many stories at once, so my interest was not held by the narrative.

I appreciate the opportunity, but as I was not able to finish this title. I have chosen not to review.

Thanks,
Laura

I’ve always been a romance fan, but this is almost like romance on steroids, mixed with some paranormal as well as romantic suspense. Abby Rhodes, a construction worker/house flipper, feels at home with being on a construction site, but is still trying to find and maintain her feminity. She buys a house, unaware that in the past, there was a murder that took place there. While rehabbing the house, she comes in contact with multi millionaire Jordan Gatewood, whose family has ties to the house. Not only are they trying to see if their relationship will work, they have to deal with past spirits, one of which is Jordan’s father who was killed 30 years ago, Jordan’s manipulative mother, as well his ex girlfriend Robin (who is truly a piece of work)
When I first found out that I was able to read this story, I was ecstatic, because I loved the first one, and so far every story I have read from this author. I was also happy to see some familiar faces, like Plato, Marlow and Shou Shou (She’s blind, but she’s also a psychic and a seeer ). This was a great and exciting read that kept me guessing until the end. I felt this is a must read, and I can’t wait for it to be released so I can read it again.

Thanks to Net Galley for the read.

Seducing Abby Rhodes by J.D. Mason is the 2nd book in a trilogy. I was not aware that there was a first book, but this read very well as a standalone. Abby Rhodes, our heroine, is a contractor and designer of homes, in her home town of Blink, Texas. Abby is drawn to a small house that has been rumored to be haunted. However, Abby decides to purchase the house and renovate it. What she is not prepared for are the ghosts that belong to the house since a murder almost 30 years ago. Her friend, who is a physic, tells her the ghosts seem happy she is there; so Abby decides she will moves I temporarily while she is renovating.

Jordan Gatewood, our hero, is a millionaire entrepreneur, who happens to be passing by Blink and decides to visit the old house where his father was killed. Jordan does not know why now he decides to stop into that house, but he is drawn to it. He meets Abby, as she is making her plans. He leaves after a short time to go home, but he cannot forget Abby. Jordan is also in the middle of major deal that will bring his company millions. Robin Sinclair is a high powered attorney, who works for Jordan; she is also his mistress.
What follows is fast paced story revolving around the ghosts of Jordan father, and his mistress; the sweet slow built romance between Jordan and Abby; and the vengeance of a woman scorned.

As Jordan cannot stay away, he and Abby begin to fall in love. In the midst of this, they want to understand why the ghosts remain, and since they cannot talk, it is a mystery that will slowly unravel. Jordan has only cared about work, and his relationship with Robin and other woman was never serious. Unfortunately, Robin has fallen in love with Jordan and is determined at any cost to break up the growing relationship between him and Abby. It is Jordan past concerning the suicide death of his first wife, and his mistress that will possibly prevent him from staying with Abby.

Through all of this, we learn more about Jordan, his family and the murders from years before. We also learn how vicious Robin can be. Will Jordan give up Abby to prevent Robin from destroying him and his family? Will we learn what truly happened years before, and why the ghosts have not moved on? Will Abby find a way to keep Jordan?

J.D. Mason has written an interested unique mystery and a wonderful romance. Seducing Abby Rhodes held my attention from start to finish.

"Seducing Abby Rhodes" is an enthralling, supernatural mystery/romance. The book begins when Abby, who owns her own company purchasing and fixing up houses, purchases a house she felt drawn to, even though it's not much to look at. She soon learns that the house is haunted by people from events and people from the past. After she moves in, a handsome stranger shows up at the house, also having been drawn to it.

Jordan is a billionaire head of a construction company. He keeps most people at arms length and is tortured by his own past- his father was shot when he was in college, his mother shot him a year before, and his wife killed herself in part due to his infidelity/inability to love her. When Jordan visits the house where his father was killed, he is drawn to Abby, the woman who has purchased and is restoring it. Together, they seek to unravel the past and "finish" what the ghosts are calling them to finish.

Meanwhile, a woman Jordan was seeing casually, Robin, begins a Fatal Attraction-style obsession with him and seeks to destroy the love he has found with Abby. It's a thrilling and complex story that will have you gripped until the very end. Although the story is intertwined and full of mysteries, it is easy to follow and impossible to put down. I did not intend to finish this book as quickly as I did, but it pulled me in and wouldn't let go until we reach the conclusion. It really kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat! Overall, it's really a beautiful story and a wonderful journey- I highly recommend to lovers of romance and mystery (who don't mind a touch of the supernatural).

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Layers upon layers of history, hurt, secrets, love, danger and a yearning for peace. The Seduction of Abby Rhodes is a journey in finding, then keeping, your peace, comfort and soul's home, one way or another. It's about saving a life.
The writing and descriptions are spot on- getting at the rawness of the hurt or the joyfulness of love, Mason's got it. Even the chapter titles are inspired, and throughout Mason resurrects soul deep feelings while delivering a plot that is masterful.

I can see this as a screenplay; the entire novel played through my eyes in a captivating film that would be Oscar worthy I'm sure. This is my favorite summer read of 2017.
