In this lovely romance, we find ourselves following an Alpha named Callan Mohan. Where is he from? What do we find out about him at the beginning of the book? Who is Kate Ballard? What does Kate do? Who is Cindy to her? Where is Kate off to? When Kate wanders off to sketch out in the wild to relieve the stress from the drive, what happens? What does she see, what does that cause her to do, and more importantly, what happens because of it? Who are JT, Billy, and Bobby? Who are the Brightons? How do they know Callan? As things progress and Kate begins to get to really know Callan and his people, what happens? When he takes her on a tour of the distillery, they come through the office way. What do they find Billy and Bobby doing? Why are they there? What happens to Kate when JT walks past her, smirking? Ultimately, what ends up being the root of why JT and the other two were there? What happens with Kate, where does she end up going? When we see Cindy again, what happens? You're going to need to read this book and see what happens, I could not stop reading when I picked this up.
A paranormal romance novella about an alpha shifter who falls in love with a woman terrified of the other half of himself. Kate's a woman who is looking for a new life. She's left her job, is staying at a bed and breakfast, is out in the woods, ends up following wildlife and finds herself in trouble. Callen comes to her rescue, a man whose voice she's dreamed of. Things move quickly, Kate can't help falling for the wonderful Callen (he's a great hero, strong, protective, loving), but Callen's keeping secrets. Drawn to the Wolves is a jam packed story you can read in one sitting and get a happily ever after.
What a delightful novella! There was so much character development in this short book and yet it never felt rushed.
Kate has come to Whiskey Grove to relax after the end of her job as a police artist. She falls into trouble when she goes out away from her hotel but is rescued by a handsome man.
Callan is a wolf shifter. When he finds Kate and realizes she is his mate but human he knows he can’t rush a relationship, especially when he discovers she is afraid of his kind. Kate had a bad experience with a wolf shifter previously. It added so much to the story that Kate had to overcome her fear and Callan had to help her rather than demanding anything from her.
Great chemistry between the two MCs. The ground is laid for an exciting, love-filled series. I’m looking forward to further stories.
Kate was trying to find her best friend Cindy who was at Brighton Hotel in Whiskey Grove. Tenn It was a small town and Kate made it there but was having problems finding the hotel. Mrs. Brighton greeted Kate after she got to the hotel. For ten years Kate had sketch artist for the Atlanta P D. Ten stressful years of feeling perceiving every victims emotions and some criminals inherit evil and Kate knew she was a little unusual but she just called it advanced sixth sense. But it wore on her and she needed out. The one part of the gift Kate truly enjoyed was experiencing the positive emotions of others. Kate wasn’t sure how long she’d be able to stay but this was a good first step in the right direction, one where she could draw for enjoyment not because it was desperately needed by so many people for so many reason’s Ten Kate asked about walking behind the hotel and paths and decided after being in the car so long after she was more or less settled to go for a walk. Callan was alpha to a wolf pack and sensed someone was in trouble. Then Callan knew it was a woman and and his mate and he had to go to her and protect her. Then the fear he senses turned into terror. He had to protect his mate before it was too late. A bond had already developed between Kate and Callan. Mrs Brighton had called about her missing guest. Callan already knew Kate was his mate. But than Callan found out Kate was terrified of wolves and then his cousin hadn’t helped. But he could communicate because of their bond. Callan protected Kate and got her back to the hotel and he stayed with her as Kate didn’t want to be alone. But they slept in separate beds then he told her about his sister pictures on the walls of the cabins they were going to start renting out and Kate wanted to see the cabins the next day. Kate felt the bond and a deep attraction for Callan.
I loved this story and it was great. Kate had to and did overcome her fear. I definitely loved the romance between Callan and Kate. even if she broke their hearts. I loved how Callan and his pack were with each other. I loved the plot of this story. It was a short story but didn’t lack anything. I felt bad for the reason Kate was terrified of wolves and then to fall in love with one. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

I enjoyed my time spent with Callan and Kate. Shifter Paranormal Romance is my favorite genre, I love the escape it gives me plus the steaminess is always fun. This story adds a bit more to that mix in that the heroine is deathly afraid of wolves stemming from an incident in her past. While she easily accepts the connection she almost instantly has with Callan, it’s going to take some patience and understanding on his part in easing her into the reality of his pack – and his wolf. I’m accustomed to the insta-attraction in any shifter story, yet this time there is a perfectly logical reason for Kate’s acceptance of Callan in her life. One that adds another layer to an already well defined story.
Drawn To The Wolves has the feel of the introductory story in a series to me, although I’ve found nothing to support that feeling – yet. Time will tell it seems. There are characters here that I’d really love to learn more about
If you enjoy Paranormal Romance, particularly Shifter Romance then this story is one that should be on your radar. It has an interesting couple faced with unique issues, danger, sexy times and a villain all too easy to loathe. Everything I look for in my Shifter Romance addiction.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Drawn To The Wolves was a quick and highly enjoyable read! I loved how much story we got in this novella! I hope this is the introduction to a series because I really want to read more about this wolf pack! This is the first book by Shari Mikels that I have read and I like her easy writing style! The story flowed very well and before you know it, it was over-boo!!
Callen is the alpha of his wolf shifter pack and in the middle of a meeting, he feels extreme fear coming from somewhere close to their compound. Checking in with security of his pack, all is well, so he knows it's coming from a stranger. But this stranger feels decidedly different and he feels a strong pull towards her. This can only mean she must be his destined mate-and she's in trouble!
Kate is on vacation having just quit her job as a sketch artist for the Atlanta Police Department. After a stressful drive to her bed and breakfast in the wilderness of Georgia, she decides to take a walk and relax by sketching some of the surrounding wildlife. While sketching some deer she encounters an eagle. Eager to sketch the it, she's determined to keep up with magnificent bird. She becomes lost and is approached by a rather nasty man and his huge dogs. Apparently she's wandered onto their property. After feeling the danger warnings going off in her head, she realizes those are wolves not dogs. Her anxiety ramps up from there having witnessed a tragic accident with her childhood friend involving wolves. As she is screaming in her head, but trying to outwardly stay calm, Callen comes to her rescue.
Callen and Kate share a connection. One that she recognizes immediately. She's had dreams about his soothing voice! She always took it as just a dream, until she realizes Callen is the face that goes with that voice! How can that be?? She's instantly drawn in, feeling like she's known him her whole life.
As they spend time together, Callen is certain Kate is his mate, and Kate also feels their connection. How can he tell her his secret of being a wolf shifter when she is terrified of wolves??
I loved Callen! He is your typical strong alpha but he also has patience! His ability to keep the brakes on when he is surely faced with his mate was admirable! He didn't want to spook her and he took his time letting her get to know him. Kate quickly falls for this seemingly perfect man! She's a strong girl and although she's dealt with fear from the people she's drawn their "monsters" for the police to catch, she's never gotten over her own fear of wolves. Callen draws on their undeniably strong chemistry to help her overcome those fears.
I really enjoyed the way this story unfolded and everything felt believable. It all clicked and it felt right. This definitely is a book I highly recommend reading! It's setting and character building was solid. The added conflict with the "bad wolves" over business, and Kate's fear of all wolves, adds some drama! It's the added oomph that pushes this above other typical shifter books. Pick this up and I'm sure you'll agree!

This was a quick, enjoyable read, and I was amazed at the amount of story packed into such a small package. It was not predictable in the way many short stories are, and it was a great introduction to what I assume is an upcoming new series by this author.
Callan Mohan knows something is wrong when he feels anxiety from an unknown woman, and all his pack is accounted for. Knowing that this signals the presence of his mate, he rushes to her aid and saves her from his cousin, JT. Kate Ballard just came to Whiskey Grove, Tennessee to relax before she begins her new job, away from the stress of her old job as a sketch artist for law enforcement. When she strays too far from the hotel, she is rescued by a handsome man who is seemingly perfect for her. But he has a big secret, one that could doom their love before it has a chance to bloom.
I loved the chemistry between Callan and Kate! They fit together well from the start, and it made their connection believable even with the speed of the romance. Kate had a bad history with wolves, so it was an intriguing conflict in the story. It helped build up Callan's character as he helped her overcome her fear, and it made Kate endearing. The build up to the end was great and made me wish I read a bit slower so that it didn't end so quickly.
I can't wait to read the next book, if this will be a series! I loved all the characters and could see several great books easily.
This is a sweet read. Of course, with the Carina Press romance guarantee, you can always expect an HEA/HFN. This one delivers nicely.
I haven’t read this author before, but this looks like it could develop into a series. I hope! Besides the main characters, Callan and Kate, there is a wealth of interesting side characters that sound like future topics of their own books.
Ms. Mikel’s style is crisp and exceptionally readable. Kate’s fear of wolves is well explained and emotional. Kate is a talented artist with a special “gift”, that makes her entry into Callan’s world special and necessary. Their instant attraction is based on Callan recognizing her as his “mate” immediately. I thought the inevitable conflict and resolution that is a must in romance was just a little contrived, but it worked out just fine.
What I would really love to see is a lot more backstory on Callan and his pack, his parents and their history. I love the wolfies, and this could shape up to be a wonderful series. Grab your copy now and…
Enjoy!

This is a good paranormal shifter book. Katie has quit her job as a sketch artist with the Atlanta Police. She is vacationing for the first time in years and finally gets to meet the man who has been a voice in her head for years. Not too long or complicated, this looks to be an introduction to a series. With a nasty cousin wolf, the Alpha Callan , juggles pack politics with his new human mate. I like the setting and potential in this book. It appears that Shari Mikels has several previous book and I'll be looking for them. She has a nice easy style.
Wolf shifter Callan Mohan has a powerful connection to his pack. As alpha, he can sense if something is wrong—and when he feels panic coming from an unknown source, his instincts tell him she's someone to be protected at all costs.
Rescuing a stranger from an unexpected confrontation with two wolf shifters is easy. Helping her move from fear to acceptance of the animals—and him—is a challenge.
Kate Ballard's attraction to her mysterious rescuer is instant. That she falls for Callan so quickly isn't surprising—his strong, confident presence puts her at ease, and the strange connection she has to him makes her feel safe almost immediately. He's the man she didn't know she was waiting for.
It's only a matter of time before Callan has to tell Kate the truth. And find out, once and for all, if her love for him is enough to overcome her fear.
Kate Ballard has worked for the Atlanta PD for the past 10 years. She has empathic abilities and after 10 years of drawing human monsters she just couldn’t do it any longer. She’s now taking a much needed rest and she’s in Whiskey Grove, Tennessee on the advice of her best friend. She plans on relaxing and sketching wildlife to her hearts content.
The first afternoon she’s out sketching, however, she runs into trouble. She was told to stay of a certain plot of land but after chasing an eagle she finds herself facing the barrel of a gun. The man wants to shoot her and she’s terrified of the humongous wolves the man has at his sides.
Kate is rescued by Callan. He calms the gun holder enough to get Kate out of there. From the first moment that he sees Kate, and feels her in his head, he knows that she’s his mate. The problem is that Kate has an unbelievable fear of wolves and telling her that he’s a shifter might just make her run from him instead of to him.
This was a sweet little novella. I liked Kate and Callan both and though they were good for each other. Their relationship started off pretty quickly but since he knew that she was his fated mate he didn’t waste any time. Before you know it she’s practically living with him which was fast but again, fated mates.
I found myself entrenched in the book when Kate was being held at gunpoint and was excited to go from there. Unfortunately I didn’t care for the way Kate handled her fear and the shifter issue. The way the author wrote her I got the feeling that she would have handled it differently but she ran. I was happy to read that that part of it wasn’t drawn out too long and Kate and Callan got their HEA.
If you’re looking for a quick, easy paranormal story to read this would be a good one.

Overall a good solid story. a unique plot. good romance all-around.
2.5 Stars,
This was a nice introductory novella with an interesting couple. However, I felt as though some of the other members of the pack weren't 3D enough for me. Although i enjoyed that our main character had to deal with her own fear, and how use get over this, i thought the book was over all just overly predictable.
