His Alone is the story of "Captain America" Ryan, and Paige. Paige is Mallory's best friend, and Miles' half sister. I really liked her in Everything for Her. She was a wonderful friend to Mallory, even though it started out as a job. Paige is smart, savvy, and driven. She watched her father kill her mother and she wants revenge. Ryan appears to be an all American good boy (hence the nickname Paige and Mallory give him), but he has secrets too.
Ryan and Paige were well developed characters in part because you got to know them in book one. His Alone is their story, but it begins before this book, really. Ryan is a classic AR hero: obsessed, alpha, possessive, and a bit stalker-ish. He has wanted Paige since he first saw her but knew he couldn't have her yet. His plans mirrored Miles' plans with Mallory, so when Miles finally makes Mallory his, Ryan has to figure out how to keep Paige close. He decides that he has to prove he loves her then she will be more accepting of his secrets and won't walk away.
Paige is haunted by her mother's death and can't imagine someone as wholesome as Captain would be accepting of her revenge plans. She tries to keep Ryan at a distance because she doesn't want to open her heart to him, only to have him run away when he figures out how vengeful she can be. However, she totally discounts Ryan's love. These two have a lot of push and pull between them, but Ryan never gives up. Because the story is told in dual 1st person, you really get a lot of insight into Paige and why she is the way she is. You can understand her fear, her pain, her loneliness, and its all heartbreaking. It was very rewarding to see Ryan break down her walls!
Overall, His Alone is another swoony Alexa Riley book that kept me up WAY past my bedtime. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. Thats the thing about Alexa Riley books-you can't stop.

Really like this author an really liked the book an storyline. Was a easy read which was well written with great characters an easy to get into. Would recommend this book an the author. Thanks for letting me read your book.
readers who love: steamy and over the top reads, sweet and cheesy stories, lots of insta-love with the guy falling fast, and chapter after chapter of epilogues. Hell yes that is me! I mean come on Alexa Riley...FULL LENGHTH NOVEL... #takemymoney I seriously so happy that I read this book, along with book 1. Both can be read apart, this one was perfect every thing. Characters, Story, Sex, Love, Instafluff, hands down PERFECT!
Ryan is deep undercover... years, in fact. He stays that way to get the evidence on Paige's dad, but also to watch over Paige. The book makes clear the instalove he feels for Paige, but also that he is more of a guardian for Paige than a romantic interest until she pulls a joke that he takes seriously. The story drags a little in the middle, but it's still a good read.
Captain America to the rescue! So much more wicked than that man behind the curtain!!! I loved it!!
Huge score for the girls in this book. I loved this one so much more than book one. (and I did love book one) This one has the depth of character, the sass of Paige and the sexy cape wearing, crawl all over me Ryan.
If you haven't read book one, please read it. Then come back and read this one. This book has the intrigue, and relationship development between Paige and Ryan. We do see Miles and Mallory again from book one. Ryan works for Miles as does now Paige, Miles half sister. Miles is determined to bring his father down and although we don't see that in the book, we know it's transpiring. What we're watching is Ryan's obsession with Paige, Paige's obsession with making her father pay for what happened to her mother, Ryan's overbearing concern for her safety and while he's pretty much hands off through 80% of the book, when that match hits the gas, it's a barn burner. Damn these girls write some hot press and it's not redundant. Makes me wonder what is going on in their minds. Carry on ladies. I don't do spoilers. This one is a must read and bring an adult beverage, fan and change of clothes.
Nicely done!! I highly recommend this one. 4.5 Stars
**arc from NetGalley and Carina Press in exchange for a fair review**
Warning: This book is over the top, cheesy, scorching hot, with virgin heroine who likes to pull the chains of the hero. Said hero is obsessed with her and destroys everything that gets between them. But they live happily ever after, that’s for sure. If that is something that would make you run for the door, close this tab right now.
This is it. The beginning of my AR’s full length novel obsession.
His Alone is the second in the For Her series by the writing duo who’s been known to deliver traditional romance only with a lot of dirty sex, insta-love and definitely HEA. I love love the first book because Miles Osbourne defined the over the top obsessive, possessive alpha who manipulated Mallory’s life just to get her to him. (I know it’s insane. Haha! But it worked on me.) And though Miles still holds the OTT possessive crown, Ryan “Captain” Justice came a close second.
We met Ryan Justice (AKA Captain according to Paige and Mallory) from the first book, the head of security of Osbourne Corporation, Miles’s company, and Paige Turner as well, Mallory’s best friend and security detail and half-sister of Miles. They work together for the company’s security.
Paige knows that getting close to Ryan is a mistake so she really has to fight off her crush on him. She’s too dirty for such a perfect man. She knows she doesn’t deserve him. Only, she doesn’t know that Ryan keeps secrets of his own that would make or break what they could have in the future. Ryan is nothing but a man who’s sure of himself. Once he decides on things, he delivers with precision and nothing could stop him. Case in point, from the first time he saw that redhead’s photo in his hands, he’s certain to go after her, protect her at all cost and make her fall in love with him.
I love that this book has a well-thought-out prologue. It’s not something I was expecting but I considered it a good backstory to get to know Ryan and how he ended up working for Miles. The chemistry was very strong which was a sure thing with AR’s books. There were a lot of moments where Ryan couldn’t just stop being the perfect man. He cooks for Paige (that woman loves to eat!). He’s more gentleman because he’d rather have sex with Paige once she acknowledges her feelings for him. He could last all day just by kissing the girl. (But where is the fun in that, right? Haha!) He supports Paige’s shoe addiction (swoon!). And he’s got this wallpaper of Paige’s photos in his room AKA Paige Shrine when his fixation for her started. (What did I say about being OTT obsessed and cheesy??? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) Also, for someone who had a sassy mouth and teased Ryan like a freaking vixen, I didn’t peg Paige to be a virgin. She hid it so well. Or the authors did. But this is Alexa Riley; I should have known that. LOL. I liked that Paige could hold her own and wasn’t intimidated of Ryan. Size-wise (she’s small, he’s enormous) and otherwise. Her plot for revenge has good intentions and I loved that she didn’t mind to get her hands dirty for it.
There has been less obsession and stalking to this one but it’s still there, just toned down. Maybe because both of them work together and Ryan was sure to have eyes on Paige all the time. While the lies and deception played a part on the conflict, it didn’t linger that much. I was expecting for something more unexpected that would have me throwing my Kindle but I guess the authors are not there yet. The suspense plot of Paige coming after her father only to find out Ryan had been there first was a nice try as well for the authors. It’s too bland for my taste, though. Too easy. Maybe they could work out more on that with their next full-lengths. The sex, though it took some time for them to have it, was still top notch. Totally AR signature–filthy and so very hot.
Overall, if you love AR’s novellas then you’d surely like this His Alone! Once again, these unstoppable authors delivered a full length novel that’s so hot, very sweet (because Ryan!! Eeee!!!), a page-turner and loaded with satisfying epilogues. Yes, plural and it’s not just two–it’s more.
Pretty typical Alexa Riley—obsessed alpha and quirky girl. I was excited for this book because while reading Everything For Her because I wanted more of Ryan and Paige but this one was just okay. There wasn't a whole lot going on plot-wise, which isn't a necessity for me, but it just kind felt a little slow-going. I will say the sex scenes were hot, AR really knows how to write steam. As always I liked the extra touch of a few epilogues at the end. Will definitely read more full-length novels by Alexa Riley.
a good story but not the best Alexa Riley story. overall good writing.
3.5 stars!
This is Alexa Riley's second full-length book and just as steamy as their smaller ones. This book is about Paige who you met in the first book, as Mallroy's best friend and her boss Ryan.
There were so much that happens in this story that I was totally surprised. I'm so not used to reading such developed stories by the duo.
Their chemistry was hot hot hot! I might have had to stop reading for a while because of the steam level!!!! I liked this book and anyone that likes Alexa Riley will love this series.
An enjoyable read. Thanks for allowing me to read. Will link the review in the next week or so
I really enjoyed it but didn't love it as much as book 1.
3.5/5 stars
His Alone is book two in the For Her series. It has different narrators from the first book. These books are full length novels. I would describe these book as extremely sexy adult contemporary romance full of alpha males, insta-love and much cheesiness.
I have a confession. This is my first book by Alexa Riley. I have heard about this dynamic duo for a while. I don't usually love books that are full of sex. But I really wanted to read one of their books to see for myself. And I'm so glad that I did.
This is book two in the series. However, there are different narrators and this book can be read as a standalone. Normally I would have read book one first. However I was not sure if I would like AR's writing style and my reading schedule was so booked. So I decided to just jump into this book. So many of my bookish friends love Alexa Riley. So I could not wait to dive into His Alone.
The narrators are Paige and Ryan. The story takes place in New York City.
The first book was about Miles and Mallory. Paige is Miles' half-sister and Mallory's best friend. Ryan is Miles' head of security. We find out that Alexander Owens is a bad man. He is Miles and Paige's father.
Both Paige and Ryan have secrets from their past. This was a big focus of the story.
I knew that this book would be sexy. I was just hoping that it would not be too sexy for me. There was actually no sex at all in the first third of the book. However throughout the book there were definitely times when there was scene after scene of sex. A lot of people like that. And that is what these ladies are known for writing. So their core fan-base will be happy.
While reading this book I was curious how much I missed by not reading the first book. I feel like the authors filled in a lot of blanks. But I did not understand why Paige and Ryan liked each other or what their motivations were re: how they were acting.
Truthfully I knew that the book would be steamy. But I did not know that AR was known for insta-love with the men falling so hard and fast. That actually makes more sense with regards to this story. Ryan was very possessive. I don't really love alpha males or insta-love. But again, this is what their fan-base loves. So they will be getting exactly what they want in this story.
This book is for readers who love: steamy and over the top reads, sweet and cheesy stories, lots of insta-love with the guy falling fast, and chapter after chapter of epilogues. Overall, it was an interesting experience and I am so glad that I finally read a book by this author.
YES PLEASE. MORE PLEASE. WHERE THE FUCK DO I GET A RYAN?!. Please.
We all know Alexa Riley has it down on the smut factor. NAILED IT
I loved both Paige and Ryan. Both strong characters with formidable personalities it was like watching fire meeting gasoline.
Paige was both feisty and sweet in all the right places. Having dealt more than her fair share of shit through the years you'd think it would of brought her down.. hell no! She's a force to be reckoned with I tell you. And boy was she on a mission for revenge. Despite fighting the attraction it didn't take long to give in but it was a delight to see her softer side. Being in her head made my heart ache for how she viewed herself but also made me commend her for how strong and resilient she is.
Ryan ... wow I just want one. He's the perfect book boyfriend. Real life wise? He's a fucking PHYSCO. Seriously a top notch stalker from stalksyouville. However in the land of imagination... don't he just get the juices flowing with all his alpha badass possessive shenanigans. To top him off in all his perfection.. he also only see's Paige, he's so loyal and sweet to her that is melts my bleeding heart. He's willing to kill for her, in fact he'd do anything for her to make her happy and his.
Together they're on fire! So much chemistry mixed with unspoken feelings and emotions that it has you waiting to feel what comes next, wanting more. The build up has you on edge and holy cow the sex is freaking smoking!! The story is seemless from start to finish! Not once was I bored or lost. The attention to detail is impeccable and it's has everything you want in a romance book and more!. And to top it off the sarcastic Witt is freaking genius! Seriously.. written brilliantly.
I don't have a bad word to say .. I just loved it. Alexa is well known for providing us with endless hours of smutty perfection jam packed full of loyal alphas and great heroines. Fans that love her will love this and people who haven't read her books seriously need to get to it pronto.
I kindly received this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
His Alone is the perfect conclusion to Everything For Her. We met our Paige and Ryan in Everything For Her but it is not necessary to read it first, but there are storylines that start in the first and continue here and you will meet all of our characters in play. Plus it is just as lovely as His Alone so I would recommend that you do. Alexa Riley pens such sweet stories. I love their stalky, alpha heroes and their sassy heroines and Ryan and Paige do not disappoint. There is a back-story to Ryan that I didn’t expect and I really connected to Paige. I think Ms. Riley excels at these novels that are full length and I hope she continues to gives us more.
If you’re looking for one, His Alone is the perfect pallet cleanser for your reading brain!
And if you love Alexa Riley, you will not be disappointed in this installment. If you haven’t read her, what are you waiting for?!
ARC received for review
5++++++++++++ stars
As much as I loved Miles/Oz in book one, I'm more in love with Ryan/Captain. He is so yummy and HAWT and sexy and just perfect for Paige. They are just so amazing together. The drama with her and Miles' father is wrapped up, but still under whelming. We get to get lots of Mallory and Miles, and get to see him grow a little more in this book. Plus there are like SIX EPILOGUES!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a book as much as I did this one. I loved everything about it: how likeable the two main characters are, their page-melting chemistry and sexy encounters, the mystery surrounding their story, and the untypical way the story unfolds. I don't see how anyone could not read this book and fall in love with Ryan. He is tender, respectful, sexy as hell, and treats Paige with the reverence a man should have for the woman he loves (but not many do). And Paige is one of the strongest female characters I've encountered in quite some time. These two are truly perfect together; they challenge and bring out the best in each other.
I had not read the book that came before this, or any other by this author previously, but I definitely will now. I am so glad I took a chance on this book and found this new-to-me author.
There's no denying that Alexa Riley's books appeal to a certain portion of readers (as is declared by the authors themselves). Her heroes and heroines are over the top, have over the top sex, are prone to dramatic bursts of temper, and are well, so completely devoted to each other that their happy-ever-afters actually require chapters worth of epilogues to ensure that these happy endings are iron-clad. It's as though the readers themselves need some convincing that a pairing's overwhelming love can and will last decades, even when the kids have flown the coop. Along with instant love however, Ms. Riley's characters stay 'safe' in many ways: there isn't talk of other men or other women and the steamy scenes—consisting of acrobatic sex, a multitude of orgasms and no recovery period—are reserved wholly for the protagonists alone.
Captain's and Paige's story had been in the wings for a while now, ever since Miles and Mallory burst onto the scene like a recap of Fifty shades of Grey. And both Captain and Paige kind of follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, though the obsession and stalkerish behaviour is thankfully toned down a bit more here. Lies and deception do form some part of the conflict here, but they don't last. The bulk of the story is much focused on the developing relationship between Captain and Paige, the side of suspense comes as a surprise, as is the revelation of Captain's undercover status throughout all these years. The lack of elaboration and details regarding that shady part of his life unfortunately, made the bit about his role in Paige's and Miles's father somewhat less unbelievable, but perhaps that really isn't the point at all in this book.
The long and short of it is, if you're looking for erotica that's wrapped around a decent kind of plot (though you'll definitely need to suspend some disbelief there) and characters who burn up the sheets, then this is a read for you.
I have a confession to make I LOVE this author. Yes even the 100 page beyond hot novellas. Then in December she released her first full length book and it was beyond good. Much more story oriented and the story was hot but also really really good. I love those alpha males that fall in love in 5 minutes and love the one silently for years while foresaking anyone else. And well the first book was like that and despite how the first book ended with a glimpe into Ryan/Captain America, I am so glad that this one follows that formula as well.
This is the story of Paige, sister to hero in the first book and also bestie and secret bodyguard to the heroine of book 1. Paige works for secret for her brothers company and Ryan is her boss. In the end of the first book, we learn Ryan also got hired years ago to spy on the brother from the evil father. Paige HATES her father so you know this is going to be a HUGE deal in this story.
I really don't want to give too much away because there are so many surprises along the way. I truly loved every second of this book and I loved all the extra epilogies so we see how the characters are doing down the road. I am sorta sorry its the end for this duet because I beyond loved them. Ryan and Paige are beyond wonderful together. Ryan is a total hottie, alpha but who is also sweet. I LOVED when Paige teases him with lollypops. I never thought about their hotness before but after reading this story you will think so too.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy insta love stories with alpha males. I cannot wait to see what Alexa Riley writes next.
I can't review this book as I can't read it, the text is just too faint/grey. I've tried using different fonts but none of them change the text colour and I can't see well enough to read it. I've never had an issue with Carina books before so hopefully its a one off, and not that you are changing text colour for all books.
