Ray, Sasha, Liam, and Harper have been friends forever. Now that they are in high school they are still friends, but have also developed other friends and interests. At least everyone except Harper has. She is angry with Ray, Sasha and Liam after they left a party without her. She skips school on the one day she shouldn't...the day the big earthquake hits. The others are all together and manage to get out of the high school with no injuries or difficulties, even though Sasha is in a wheelchair, but no one knows where Harper is.

This book was way too short, but since it was one of the most boring disaster books I have read that is probably ok. The depiction of the earthquake was probably very realistic as were the reactions of the kids. However, that was the problem. There really wasn't a lot of drama except about finding Harper. No one was injured and everything turned out just fine in the end. Because the book is just over a hundred pages I would probably not even call it a novel but a novella.

I received this book from Netgalley.

I was really enjoying the story when it seemed to end. I didn't realize it was such a short story but it was quite engrossing and managed to address some of the problems that teens have such as disability, growing apart and insecurities.
I liked the characters as they seemed well rounded and the description was very good, you really felt the earthquake and aftershocks.I just wish it had been a bit longer.
