Thank you to Net Galley and Gallery Books for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I was thrilled to receive this, as I'd read the other books in the series. They can all stand alone, but by having read them, I was so touched to revisit the characters, the sea turtles and the low country. This time, not only did a get all of that, I learned about shore birds, and I felt the author's portrayal of anxiety was so well done...very realistic depiction. Do yourself a favor...read this book. A recent favorite for sure...one of my rare 5 stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first Mary Alice Monroe book and it won't be the last.
I love a good beach house novel and this one did not disappoint. While it is listed as the third in a series, I didn't feel as if I was missing out by not having read the first two.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the description of the beach and the surrounding areas and found the characters quite likable.
I will read more books by this author if given the opportunity.
Ever read a book that is so enjoyable that you don’t want it to end? That’s how I felt reading Beach House for Rent. Some of the characters were familiar from previous novels but this is absolutely a stand-alone. Heather, an artist who has suffered from extreme anxiety since her mother’s death in a horrific car accident, lives with her father in Charlotte, NC. He’s recently remarried—and his new wife is not much older than Heather. Since his daughter has received a commission to paint shore birds, he rents her a cottage on the Isle of Palms, in low country SC. Heather is fearful of being on her own for the first time, but she relaxes as she meets friendly islanders, especially a handsome gentleman who has been hired to complete a deck on the house she is renting. When a shocking tragedy changes everything for Heather and her new friends, she starts to realize how strong she has become. Mary Alice Monroe has created a story, a setting, and a group of multifaceted characters which draw the reader in, making this novel an inviting choice to curl up with for a weekend reading marathon.
