A real page turner couldn't put it down, the characters are well developed and the plot moves along nicely

This is a total disappointment-Dean Koontz really hasn't had a great book in years, and this latest book is so over-written, cliched and ridiculous, that it's a total mess. A complete waste of time.

A conspiracy story to top all conspiracy stories

First off, I would have rated this story 4 1/2 stars if I could have. The only reason for that was I got to the very end of this book before finding out it is book#1 in the Jane Hawk series. I was happy thinking this was a standalone book because I tend to get tired of series books. Most don't hold up the forward momentum from the first book. Also, all my questions didn't get answered by the end of the book (crying like the big baby I am).

To the good parts - all the rest of the book. I felt like I was back reading one of Koontz's first books, like WATCHERS, which made me fall in love with this author so many years ago.

Jane Hawk is one bad**s tough female protagonist. She is a Marine widow, her Colonel husband having committed suicide just a few months back. Jane doesn't believe he would killed himself, leaving her and their son behind to pick up the pieces. So she starts investigating and finds that unexplained suicides are on an upswing across the country and, as she delves into the whys, her and her son are threatened. And she, in no way, shape, or form, is going to stand for that.

Loved the character of Jane Hawk. I loved the storyline. I loved the ebb and flow of Koontz's prose. I've been disappointed with quite a few of his newest books but not this one. THE SILENT CORNER gets everything right.

I received this book from Bantam Books through Net Galley and through the Amazon VINE program in exchange for my unbiased review.

The start of an amazing new series with FBI agent Jane Hawkes seeking to find out why her husband committed suicide. She uncovers an inconceivably evil conspiracy to use nanotechnology to control the thoughts and behaviors of others. Incredible writing, believable characters and fast paced action. Highly Recommended

Another dazzling psychological thriller from Dean Koontz. A deeply disturbing vision of the misuse of technology at its worst. When the rate of suicide skyrockets among brilliant ethical scientists and politicians with no history of mental or emotional issues, and one of them is her husband, F.B.I. agent Jane Hawk knows something is terribly wrong, but what? After her son is threatened, she goes rogue to find out what the dark secret really is. And it's worse than she could have imagined. She is soon embroiled in human trafficking, mind control and murder by suicide so deeply that she may not survive it. And will the F.B.I. come out unscathed by those who would rule the world? It's the stuff that nightmares are made of, while the possibilities are all too real. It gets in your head and won't stop nagging you with its creepy questions.

The Silent Corner is a techno thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Jane Hawk is a rogue FBI agent and you have a mad scientist. This book is well written and the characters will make you want to be them. I would recommend everyone pick up this book and read it.

Another great Koontz book!

It's been a long while since I've read any Koontz books, but even though his books aren't in my usual genre, I always love them. The characters, action, plot are all so well drawn that I always fall into his world, and come out at the end wondering how I've never noticed what an evil place this world is.

I highly recommend this book!

Wow! I simply could not put The Silent Corner down. It is 3:52 AM, and I just finished it. Jane Hawk is one tough, determined woman. The plot is fast-paced, intriguing, and terrifying in that it could be (or might be) true. I can't help but wonder in what direction the next book in this series will go.

Well! Holy cow. This was so not what I'd expected. I've been a Dean Koontz fan for years. I love his scary, eerie, supernatural writing. This was not that!

What it was, was fabulous. So different from anything else I've ever read of his. It was slow moving, very wordy, but oh the words were magic. They put me right in the story, on the run with Jane Hawk as she sets out to find out why her husband killed himself. And in the process puts her own life in danger. It was a fascinating journey and one I can't wait to continue in the next installment of this series. I'm thrilled to have a new Dean Koontz series to read again. And this was one absolutely delicious first course! Bring on the rest of the feast.

I highly recommend this one to Dean Koontz fans and newcomers alike. Both will love this twisty, awesome thriller.

Jane Hawk is on a mission to discover why the suicide rate is steadily creeping upward. Her husband went from being his usual happy self to killing himself in just a matter of minutes and Jane knows that there are dark forces out there that made him do it. I could not put this book down. The action is intense in every chapter that you just keep turning the pages to see what happens next. The heroine, Jane Hawk, is one you want to rally behind and worry about whenever evil gets too close to her. I definitely recommend this book!

THE SILENT CORNER BY DEAN KOONTZ: is the latest thrill ride from the master of suspense. I could not put it down. The fast pace of the novel kept me coming back for more. Strong main character & action that just does not stop.

I have been a Dean Koontz fan for decades and Mr Koontz very rarely fails me when it comes to page turning books. THE SILENT CORNER is no exception.

Jane Hawk is on the run, FBI agent, widow and scared to death. They say her husband committed suicide but did he? She knows he didnt. She knows he was murdered and it isnt just her husband. Jane is trying to find answers before THEY come and shut her up permanently.

Dont miss this one folks. Dean Koontz has done it again!

I am so upset Amazon will not let me post my review on this book yet... this book proves that after all these years b the man still has the touch I remember all of his books and have always looked out for anything he put out, no easy feat before the internet...it just recently came to my attention he had a pen name he wrote under. My whole life has been a lie. I am now going to have to track down all those books... Well at least the task will be pleasant. This book is written with precision and the ease of a master, skilled and at peace and comfortable with his self. Crafted superbly, as usual!

Intense and absolutely riveting. The storyline is eerily plausible in today's society, which only heightens the suspense. Eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Jane, an FBI agent, goes rogue when she suspects her husband's suicide was anything but that. As is to be expected of any book by Koontz, this one is action packed and full of unexpected reveals. While it is similar to other Koontz books, this one takes on a bit of a more realistic air, as the circumstances of the situations are very possibly realistic within the tech world that we live. Our protagonist, Jane, is a widowed FBI agent, and the proud mother of a little boy, one she will protect from the evils that took her husband. When her son is threatened, she'll do what she needs to keep him safe, even if it means a trip to the other side of the law. When she goes to "the silent corner" we are made aware of how much our every move is tracked in today's world. We are not paranoid, we are being watched.

The ending is not an ending at all. This clearly will be the beginning of another Koontz series, one that I will await with anticipation.

The Silent Corner is the first novel in the Jane Hawk series. Jane Hawk, a brilliant FBI agent, has lost her husband from a suicide. Other than a very çryptic and bizarre note, there were no signs of depression. This forces Jane to begin investigating other suicides of happy, successful people. Her actions puts her and her sweet five year old son, Travis, in mortal danger. She isn't sure who she can trust.

Dean Koontz has written a riveting tale of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is definitely one of those books that will keep you up at night. I hated to see it end and I cannot wait for the next installment.

“Was your husband… was Gordon at all depressed?”

“Not ever. Some people throw hope away. Gordie was chained to it all his life, an optimist’s optimist.”

When Jane Hawk’s husband commits suicide it isn’t just her grief nor denial driving her to find out what really happened. Suddenly people are committing suicide, those who have never suffered from depression and have everything to live for. What is terrifying about his latest novel is the reality, how someone can easily be turned into an enemy, a bad person to turn in, because they know secrets of powerful people. What is more frightening then the control a group of people can have over any of us? This is dark, but the monsters are inside human beings.

It’s impossible to review this story fully without giving away what happens. It is soul corruption, it is viciousness and after reading it a little ‘what if ‘sets in… what if this really happened? It is the first book in a series and I can only wonder where Koontz is going to go with it. When Jane sifts through the lies, investigates the strange happenings more danger falls upon her and when she speaks to a widow, similar to herself, she couldn’t have known how evil would follow her. It’s interesting when human beings are more sinister than anything the mind can conjure. Who are the ever present they? Do you know? They who watch and control and say so much, the faceless they that so many listen to. The dead have left behind strange messages, notes that don’t always make sense but of course can easily be excused as ramblings of mental instability. What would you do if you were being pursued but didn’t know who was after you? What if you had to give up the only thing left that you loved more than life itself, because the ones after you were intent on taking it away? Where do you hide when ‘they’ have every resource available? Luckily she has skills herself from her former career.

Technology can be a beautiful thing, but too it can terrorize. We rely on it more and more, and when you’re ill, advances in treatment is the only life preserver- and who wouldn’t grab it? If technology cures us, what do we do with those that use it to harm? How do we know we can trust the hands that control it? These are questions the novel fired off in my brain. As the story gets deeper in, it becomes far more sinister, eerie. This novel brings mind control to a whole different level. It is a strange trip and I look forward to the sequel. Darn it, I didn’t want to get sucked into a series, but alas- it happened.

Strange, creepy new novel from Koontz…
