I read an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley. I loved the book. It was full of hot lovin' and a bit of mystery. I highly recommend this book if you like a book that involves MFM romance.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Talk about a scorcher! I do wish there had been more about their relationship before they jumped into sexy times, but Klein wrote a story that kept me invested. I wanted to see how Sean could make Max understand what he wanted and I loved seeing how Claire struggled with her feelings for both me. If anything, my only negative comment is that I wanted more...more about them, more love scenes, more about them after...just more.
Typically I'm a sucker for a good menage story, even more so when all of the characters have no limits between the characters, but this story just didn't work for me at all. Sure the sexy times between the three of them were hot, but OMG I felt like I was being jerked around by all the hot and cold going on between them. It's like they were full steam ahead one moment, and then in the next they'd put the breaks on so hard I got whiplash! I won't even mention the overdone plot and it's predictability, because my aforementioned issue was enough for me. I will say that it did have real potential character wise, but the relationship between the guys felt so forced and out of character for one of them. I just couldn't rationalize this new found draw they had for one another. So I guess with all that said, I just can't recommend this one guys.
It was an okay read but i think it could have been better.
The part where the guy from her past who hurt her came for her again, I thought ended too quickly. He is crazy yet he didn't really do much apart from follow her and then later attack her. I would have wanted him to be much more creepy.
In terms of the relationship between the three characters, I thought that was okay. I liked that they decided to be intimate only when all three of them could be there to participate. However I feel that the relationship between each pair (Claire/Sean, Claire/Max, Sean/Max) could have gotten stronger if they had occasionally been twos and not always working as a three.
This is a fast-paced ménage read with lots of steam! The story is fast paced with lots of drama and suspense and really great characters. I really liked it.
I like a good ménage story but sometimes it’s a tough sell getting me to believe in the connection between all three members and that it’s solid enough to go the distance. A relationship with two people is hard enough, but you add that third in and it can be seemingly impossible. Sometimes it’s easier to believe in the connection if it’s a true love match between all three people. The MMF aspect of Theirs to Protect, with a best-friends to lovers twist to it between the men is what drew me to this story. I was a bit disappointed, though, when it was all said and done.
Individually I liked all three characters. Claire is a college student who left her home after a horrific attack by the town’s golden boy. She was basically run out of town and her attacker went to a psychiatric facility vowing revenge. When she gets the notice that her attacker is free, and then finds out that the bodies of several women have been found who were attacked in the same way, she decides it’s time to run. Before she does, though, she thought she’d go for broke and live out a fantasy. She’s had it bad for both her hot roommates but can’t figure out which one she wants more so she’ll take both if only for one night.
Sean, a firefighter, is the more sensitive one of the group. He goes all in as he’s head over heels for Claire plus harbors a secret attraction to Max.
Max, a police officer (yes, Claire has hit the first responders jackpot!), happens to be bisexual when the occasion fits. He not only wants Claire, he is secretly in love with Sean. He’s been burned in the past with a ménage and is a bit gun shy.
This is when the angst hits in full force. These three are hot together, and when the sexy shenanigans are happening they fit together seamlessly. But, when they are apart, the only one all in seems to be Sean. There was so much back and forth “should I stay or should I go” going on, I wanted to toss my ipad.
While all this angst and mystery is thrown out there, the ending just kind of glossed over most of the issues. There was no explanation of the fallout from what happened to the bad guy. Claire’s family situation was whacked and we got no resolution to this. We also never got a clear picture of them in a cohesive group. The decision was made, end of story. After so much angst and back and forth, it was tough to believe they made it.
This was one of those reads that had a lot of promise but just never really came together for me.
Rating: 3 I Wanted More Stars
Great book, well written. Loved the interactions between the three main characters, enjoyed the tender moments, the humorous one and the sexy as hell ones.
This is my first read of this author and I thought it was good. I like the underlying tension between the two males and the fact that she was open enough to accept and even push towards a happy conclusion.
I will likely be looking for more from this author.
3.5 Stars Theirs to Protect is a steamy, hot, quick read. I enjoyed the interaction between these characters and a quite enjoyable plot.
Normally, I try to stay away from books with these types of relationships. I was glad that I read the description of the book and gave it a try. I loved these characters and really enjoyed getting to know them.
Claire is running from something in her past and is living with Sean, a firefighter, and Max, a cop. Sean and Max are friends. One night they all decide to cross the line and things get ... steamy! After this episode, Claire's past catches up with her and rather than see her men hurt she decides to run. Sean and Max have other ideas.
The story is a quick read with enough romance to make it very hot. I would definitely read other books by this author.
Whew! What a hot book!!! Enjoyed the chemistry between the three.
This book had it all....love, sex, angst, intrigue and murder. Usually MMF romances are cookie cutter and lack true characters, but with this book I was extremely surprised. Max, Sean and Claire had depth to their characters and the plot surrounding them kept me reading. The sex scenes were so hot I was blushing but they were also sweet and romantic. Overall this book was a pleasure to read and I would highly recommend it.
Ms. Klein has done a good job with this job. Good overall writing.
Hot, Hot, Hot!!! A very nice story wrapped up with some very hot and sexy times!!!
Overall the chemistry between the three of them was off the charts. Unfortunately I didn't feel like there was much of a story line e beyond that though. Yes, there was tension about Billy trying to get to her, but it didn't feel like it all worked smoothly. Kind of felt like it jumped a few steps along the way.
Claire Matthews just feels like she's got her life back on track only to have it ripped out from under her again.
Claire had to leave her life, family and friends behind and start afresh and it's going well she likes her job and is incredibly attracted to both her roommates Sean and Max but now her past is back.
Claire knows she's going to have to run regardless of how much she wants to stay she can't drag these two into her problems and endanger their lives but before she goes she's determined to have one night of fun with her roommates.
Max and Sean have both wanted Claire since the second they laid eyes on her, Max has been burnt before and it's left him determined to never get involved with a couple again and so he's set on getting his best friend Sean together with Claire even if it will break his heart a little in the process. The problem is one night together changes everything for all of them.
Now as you'd expect from a ménage book this is very hot with lots and lots of sex but it also has a story holding it all together.
It makes a hot sexy read, personally I would have like a little more at the end.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and Backlit PR.
Wow! It was hard to put this one down. Claire, Max, and Sean finally gave in to their desires after months of being roommates. Sean has been crushing on Claire since she moved in, but when she decides that she wants both of them, things get interesting. I loved that all three of them were together. It wasn't just the two guys focusing on her. They all were together and it made their bond stronger. This was my first Melissa Klein book, but it won't be my last. There was substance along with the sexy times. I loved it.
This was a super sexy and good read. This author reminds me of Marie Carnay writing style. Fun, flirty and steamy three somes who fall head over hills for each other and don't know what to do with these new feelings and emotions. I wish she didn't always resort to running or leaving every time she was afraid of her feelings for the guys or wanted to save them from her past. It just seemed to bring the book down and add some redundancies.
