In full disclosure I did not make any of the recipes in this book, but I hope to someday soon. The pictures are stunning in this book and make you want to eat healthy ASAP. My smoothies I would like to try first is the Pina Colada Bowl, peach berry nice cream, and summer paradise. This book would be a great present to one of your foodie or health but friends. If you are ever stuck in a breakfast rut this book would help instantly!

This is one of the better smoothie bowl cookbooks I’ve read - beautiful photos and inspiring recipes that are easy to follow. The ingredients are not too exotic or hard to find.

What a great idea! Smoothies are a huge food trend, especially for those trying to eat healthy, but for those who don’t always like to drink their breakfast or snack, there is a way to eat it with a spoon. Beautiful Smoothie Bowls: 80 Delicious and Colorful Superfood Recipes to Nourish and Satisfy will give everyone great ideas for elevating their smoothies to a higher realm. Bonham’s smoothie bowls are absolutely beautiful, and are perfect to serve to company as a summer dessert, or for a fruit and/or vegetable filled breakfast or snack. The smoothie bowls use healthy, flavorful ingredients, to help give everyone a nutritional boost without having to suffer so-called “eat-it-anyway-it’s-good-for-you” abuse.

Some of us think that smoothies are mostly for tree-huggers, and Bonham’s website, Creative Green Living, certainly has leanings toward that trend, but these smoothie bowls are perfect for mainstream people who love good things. Some of her bowls hide healthy vegetables for those who don’t think they like them, and others showcase seasonal fruits and bring out their fresh, wonderful flavors.

Once you make a few of the smoothies, your mind will be opened to dozens of ideas depending what you happen to have in the fridge or the garden. Your imagination is the limit, and anyone who has healthy leanings will enjoy this book and the great ideas. The recipes are also kid-friendly, and the fact that the finished smoothie bowls are very beautiful and appealing will get everyone on the bandwagon.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

As a cookbook I knew i had to try some of the recipes before writing my review and I must say, it went beyond my expectations. I love the clean design, the added tips and explanations about tools, superfoods, etc, the troubleshooting section, the beautiful pictures and of course, the recipes: delicious and very simple.

This book brings you a lot of interesting, healthy and gluten-free recipes using a variety of natural ingredients. It also gives directions about what tools to use and the usual ingredients for creating healthy smoothie bowls. The 80 recipes are easy to make and illustrated with beautiful, mouth-watering pictures. There is a long list of recipes to fall in love with, but my favorites so far are those combining kombucha and watermelon and tropical dragon nice cream - using one of my favorite fruits, dragon fruit or pitaya. Recommended to anyone interested in living a healthy life!

I really enjoyed reading this book, and I can't wait to try the recipes by myself, they are very mouth-watering. I understand a little bit about photography, and I wish they had more professional pictures taken for the recipes, but the styling is great for the pictures!

Thank you Netgalley for this book.

ARC provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big smoothie fan, but sometimes get sick of not chewing, so really wanted to check this book out. I liked it a lot, but some of the bowls seemed so labor and ingredient intensive, I'm not sure it's not better just to throw it all in my Ninja blender and just let it rip.

But it did give me lots of new ideas of what to make.

I am a raw vegan 90% of the time so this book was a somewhat new concept on the smoothie idea. I liked the idea of a smoothie bowl because it suggests that it is more than a liquid meal. The idea of mixing the smoothie with various ingredients, coupled with whole fruits to top it off is very appealing. The recipes are unique, exciting and different. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.

I have followed Ms. Bonham's website Creative Green Living for a few months now and have been impressed with her emphasis on healthy eating. These smoothie bowls are full of the well known superfoods like berries, chia, coconut, ginger, kale, honey, and nuts, just to mention a few. A lot of these recipes remind me of puddings, with delicious toppings on top. They are healthy for you too! Amazing book, and recommended. Great photos.

Beautiful Smoothie Bowls by Carissa Bonham: 80 Delicious and Colorful Superfood Recipes to Nourish and Satisfy is a colored, wonderful, beautiful succulent book that will satisfy you. For sure.Yummy!, the author developed this book sharing informations with healthy food bloggers and enthusiastic instagrammers. Each recipe is gluten-friendly and you can find recipes for vegans as well. Other are gluten-free and there are also paleo recipes. I didn't know this state but there are people who can't eat grains, diary. Other recipes are dairy free. The beauty of smoothies in general I don't know you, but it is what I feel when I drink one of them is this sensation of cuddle ourselves, like when you prepare a tea or a mug of chocolate.
The first smoothie bowls found in Brazil in 1970s.
Ms Bonham told she joined a program with a smoothie for breakfast, a smoothie for lunch another snack and a healthy dinner. What she noticed with many smoothies was this: the missing chewing that it is so indispensable and normal in our daily life.
That's why Carissa decided to choose another type of smoothies: the smoothie in a bowl so that people can eat and chewing being plenty, full and satisfied after their meal.
Carissa Bonham will later explain the type of tools you should use, introducing later the so-called superfoods, the rainbow food that we should all eat everyday. Food of all colors, positive food for our body and mind. From Acai, Avocado, bananas, carrots, cherries, ginger, goji, to green tea, honey, mango, oranges, peaches, strawberries, yogurt, naming some of them.
Recipes are all succulent and delicious. Apple pie, banana berry, cherry cobbler, a bowl full of cherries, sunshine day, carrot cake, there re many many recipes for all tastes, occasions and seasons. Of course Carissa and the various contributors add that it's better to choose seasonal fruits and veggies.

Enjoy these sunny cookbook and happy happy smoothies bowls! to everyone.

I thank NetGalley for this book.

There were so many recipes that, surely, there was a smoothie for everyone! Also, a great gift idea for your health conscious family members and friends.

Between the recipes supplied and the food guide in the intro this is the kind of book which is useful in making itself redundant. After your first half a dozen tries you'll use it more for inspiration than a rigid guide, and that's when a recipe book becomes a cookbook - you learn the fundamentals and take them away. Yeah, the recipes remain handy when you try a new angle or want to take it easy, but it's the kind of book that makes you want to do more. I've already said I'm going to be pinching flavor combinations for baking, you could just make plain smoothies or you can take the flavor profiles and apply them to a whole host of other desserts.

I've made Smoothies for after my workouts before, but I've never tried Smoothie Bowls. This book not only gives a nice overview of possible ingredients and their health advantages, but also lists 80 recipes for Smoothie bowls with beautiful pictures of how they can look if somebody who isn't me prepares them.

I've tried three of the recipes so far and was quite impressed how easy they are to recreate (I even took some pictures to show off) and how full I felt. These Smoothie bowls are great for breakfast or for after a workout, but depending on the recipe you should make sure that you have enough time to prepare the smoothie and that your local supermarket has all the ingredients on hand.

Smoothie bowls are those liquidy meals covered in ornate (and edible) decorations that you see all over Pinterest and Instagram but never actually make yourself because you know you'll end up with a bowl of gloop that looks like you dropped the contents of the vacuum cleaner on top of. So a book about them was no doubt going to be full of pretty pictures and recipes that made my mouth water, the challenge would be if I actually felt inspired to try making any. The spoiler for this read is yeah, some of the recipes look worth trying - just remember you still stand a good chance of serving gloop.

Actually this book does try to steer you clear of disasters. Before you even get to the ingredients you find a troubleshooting guide that doesn't just tell you what you messed up, but also has a couple of solutions that may rescue your efforts (no promises, it's a troubleshooting guide not a magician). it's all part of an intro that has some good points. Some of the healthy lifestyle advice was a bit lost on me - it just felt a bit hardcore and I was eager to get to the food.

A handy reference of superfoods means this book could get pulled out for all sorts of things beyond smoothie bowls (yeah, my muffin mix could be getting supercharged after this). See, I'm not a total health heathen.

And then, the recipes! Okay, there are 80 recipes (I'm trusting the title there but it feels right) so don't expect every single one to get you excited. That said, I think only a couple actually got an outright "No" from me. Most were the recipe book staple of "Maybe", and a nice healthy range fell into the "Ooh that sounds good" category.

Something to remember is the recipes are mostly about flavour combinations and presentation styles. The processes are unsurprisingly rather similar. But the brevity of the "how to" section shouldn't discourage, because frankly food is about flavour and presentation. And that's coming from the kind of geek who would be raving about a book teaching how to cook in the style of a 13th century blacksmith or something obscure like that.

Grab a copy and go mad. This is a fun cookbook, the recipe names should tell you that even if you don't believe me. It's about bright, colourful food. And a range of tasty treats.

"Beautiful Smoothie Bowls" is a beautiful book. Stunning photographs accompany each recipe. It has an appealing layout, a helpful introduction about key foods and their nutritional value, and tips throughout the book about preparing or presenting ingredients. Each recipe is flagged with a little color-coded circle to help you find the right one for your needs--gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, vegan, etc. (These categories almost always overlap.) Finally, because the categories overlap, it would be difficult to organize these recipes in chapters. However, the publisher has included a comprehensive index in the back of the book, enabling the reader to find recipes by these categories and by individual ingredients--either items in the actual smoothie or toppings. Five stars, a resource all health-conscious cooks will enjoy.

The only criticism (and one that does not take away from my five star rating) is that sometimes the recipes (especially the toppings) and photographs (albeit very pretty) seemed a bit repetitive.
