You know what I really love in a book … when both leads are truly passionate. Honestly, Mackenzie and Connor both were super alpha and it made their chemistry that much more passionate and scorching. I loved the tug-of-war they played with each other. Even I loved to hate them ;) lol They sparred really well together. Their wit and banter was always very intense and just really enjoyable to read. It made for a really fast read for me.
I loved that Rebbeca Brooks made tending bar more than just a job for Mackenzie. It was beyond a means to an end. It was her passion. And it showed in the story. I could feel it as I read.
These two have dancing around each other for quite some time. When the opportunity to open up a new bar with both of them as owners comes up, it’s like the golden ticket. THIS is their chance to move to the next level. Or so it seems. *sigh* Rarely is life ever that easy LOL Fears need to be overcome, baggage needs to be unveiled and disposed of and communication definitely needs to happen. And it all does happen in the book, unfolding perfectly. It really was a really good romance read from beginning to end!

This us the first time author for us and we throughly enjoyed our first read by then.Looking forward to checking out the other books in its series.
I have to say that I loved most of the character's .The main characters were easy to relate to.I found them to be love able, like able, funny, sad, serious, possessive, protective, curious and both sexy and smart.
Francesca and Caleb's meet at one of her father's parties and they found that they were instantly attracted to one another. I found Francesca to be bright, beautiful, protective, curious, naive, had a sense of humor, sexy and smart yet sweet an innocent.Caleb on the other hand is the total opposite.Tall dark, possessive, dangerous, lethal and was totally hot.One look at him and all a girl saw was a blinking danger beware sign flashing around his neck yet ignoring it's warning.Twoopposites that are attracted to one another who end up having an forging and instant connection .It turned out they had some major chemistry together knowing it would only lead to a one night stand.Does one risk it knowing one night will never be enough for both parties involved?Caleb and Francesca made such a cute couple I was rooting for them from early on hoping that love would survive the betrayals to come.A relationship built on lies can never survive.Heartbreak is in the future for this couple but, Caleb wants Francesca and he is willing to go against his own conscience just to have her...
I always pick a favorite character in a story and mine is going to be Caleb.I have to say that I was attracted to him from the onset.Caleb was tall, dark, handsome, sexy, dangerous, protective,
possessive, lethal and had a dangerous aura surrounding him making the perfect bad boy for us girls who love to live on the dangerous side.Sigh just to yummy...On the other hand I loved how he was totally different with his interactions with Francesca we saw the softer side of him that I imagine most don't ever see.He was possessive of her ,protective, liked teasing her ,playful and funny ,sweet and endearing. He truly cared about her and that of her safety .He stepped up when it mattered knowing full well that it could not end well for them both.No matter that it was Caleb's mission to seduce Francesca I always felt that he truly cared for her and that she meant more and not just a means to an end.I felt that his feelings for her were genuine and not false .My heart broke for him as he constantly warred with his conscience about doing his job and trying to protect Francesca all the wild at falling in love with her.I loved the mystery that surrounds Caleb he, was an intriguing character as you sensed there was more to him then meets the eye when it came to him.Caleb may walk the straighted and narrow now but has one heck of a checkered past that rivaling that of Francesca's sinister father.I loved how in this story that Caleb's past worked to his advantage and not a disadvantage. I loved the chemistry and the sexual encounters he had with Francesca they were always more than just sex.I loved how he understood Francesca and realized what her wants and needs were even without her expressing them as he was just that in-tuned with her. I loved how hestrive's to be a better person and one deserving of her and her love. Its the one time he wished he didn't have the past that he did
I liked Francesca as well she could be feisty, caring serious, curious, smart, sexy, and fun. What I loved about her most was how she was always wanting to help those less fortunate than her.I loved her big heart and she was passionate and kind.My heart broke for her as the only thing she sought from her father was his love and he was just nothing but a cold hearted man.The sadness she carried around with her touched by emotions. She was such and loving and caring person and deserved so much more than she ever received. Yet, loved her father no matter what with her own full loving heart.I love how Francesca actions surprised me more than once making her such and engaging and intriguing character through and through.
This was a page turner for me loved it cover to cover.I could not put it down once I started reading it.I loved all the twists and turns, the secrets coming to life, the love and romance and those OMG moments that I didn't see coming .I loved seeing love survive in the mists of chaos and especially when the entire time the odds are stacked against you.I love when you are able to connect with the characters you read about and I was able to do that with Caleb and Francesca. It makes for more of an interesting read for me.The other character's added that element of danger that always kept you on edge and excited to see what would happen next.An engaging romantic suspense read that was filled with lies, deceit, suspense, surprises, twists and turns all the thing that make an intense engrossing read for me,
A recommended read to all.Looking forward to this authors new releases.Would definitely read her again.
I really liked the relationship between Mack and Connor; the whole somewhat enemies to lovers set in the restaurant industry was fun. The banter between them was full of tension. I really think that since they were building a business together that they could've talked out their differences and saved themselves a lot of heartbreak in the end, but then we wouldn't have had this book. I think I'll be reading more from this author.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
I enjoyed book. At first I was a little annoyed with Mack, and her wishy washy attitude of going back and forth, but as you read about her life, you understand why she was scared to take a chance on having more with Connor. Then you have Connor, who also wanted more but did not want to put himself out there, because he was not planning on sticking around. They needed more communication, especially since they knew each for three years. When they finally opened up to each other after giving up on each other, was when they realized that they not only loved each other, but never admitted it, that they had held back of themselves. Loved that they got their HEA, and can not wait for next book with Abby.
Mack was looking through the portfolio of someone to date in her town on a dating app and found Connor who she worked side by side with at the Dipper in Gold Mountain. He was the chef and she tended bar. He was so not her type: arrogant. A player, and he still talked like he was going to pack and leave town any second for something better. Connor told Mack they would find her someone. Her best friend Abbi had talked her into the dating app. Connor caught her checking out his profile and took her phone. Sam owned Kane Enterprises and had bought most of Gold Mountain including the Dipper. Sam told Connor and Mack that they were being offered the chance to design a new bar and restaurant and become co owners with each other and Sam. but they had to put up quite a bit of money. Connor could go to his parents but Mack had no parents . Connor met with his best friend Austin at a dive on the outskirt of town when in walked Mack with two of her friends. Connor found he cared whether other guys were checking out Mack and he noticed what she was wearing and how well it fit her body. When did that happen? But would ideas ever match for the bar/restaurant? A couple days later Connor had a date and was driving to the hotel when he noticed Mack’s car was parked at the bar.he didn’t know if Mack was aware of the storm warnings so he stopped. Mack was making different types of shots and he had some and then the storm knocked the lights out and a tree came down and blocked them from being able to leave until the tree was moved. They had sex but then Mack felt she had just been stupid Connor didn’t even like her. But for some reason every time they were alone Connor and Mack had some form of sex yet still couldn’t agree about the business they were suppose to be designing. Then Mack told Abbi she would come and they could go out to dinner and then a have a drink. Abbi talked to a motorcycle guy and in the end tanked. Mack had the number of Adam who wanted to take her out but he didn’t really interest Mack. also mack thought of Connor the whole evening.
This was a great story. I didn’t want to put it down with the give and take of this story. One minute Mack and Connor couldn’t keep their hands off each other the next arguing over what the name of the bar restaurant was going to be or the type of food to be offered.. It did make me snicker at times. I felt for Mack and the life she had lead when she was younger. I liked how Mack didn’t back down from Connor but couldn’t resist him either. I loved how Connor stopped seeing other woman as soon as he and Mack had sex. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend. I would rate this a 4.5 if I could.
Mack and Connor steam up the pages in Make Me Beg. This is the 2nd of the series, and even better than Make Me Stay. Mack and Connor have been informed by Sam (from Make Me Stay) that Dipper (the restaurant/bar they both work at) isn't doing well and Sam wants to make changes. If Mack and Connor buy in, Gold Mountain Enterprises will renovate the restaurant/bar and Mack and Connor will take the lead on the new venture. Sounds good on paper, but Mack and Connor have a hard time being in the same room with each other without taking jabs at each other, so how will they be able to work together properly on a new venture where they'll be partners?
I love Connor, he's a sexy, dirty talking player who's never set down roots and has never really committed to anything or anyone before. Mack was harder for me to connect to, just as Sam was harder for me to connect to in Make Me Stay, but I did understand why she was the way she was. She had walls as strong as steel and they made her come across as seemingly malicious, when in fact, she was just lashing out first before she was hurt. Those walls didn't make me like her, but damn do I respect her for all that she had gone through and why she was so outspoken. Connor, though, wasn't a saint, and sometimes his carelessness and noncommittal ways hurt Mack. Of course, it all comes down to the fact that they didn't communicate well, hid things and their feelings from each other, to their detriment. I like how Connor called Mack out on how she hurt him, so often heroes are portrayed as stoic and never let on when they're hurt. Connor did call Mack out, and of course, she didn't react well because of those damn walls of hers. I love the way Connor came back, though, and apologized, so sweet! Honestly, I feel like he got the short end of the stick, though, because he certainly apologized in a big way, but Mack (who had hurt Connor just as much as he had hurt her) said about one line in apology and that's it. If they stick together, I hope she works on her apologizing skills, because they're sorely lacking here. But, their chemistry is so hot, and their emotional bond so strong, that I love seeing them get together, and stay together.
Make Me Beg is novel two in the Men of Gold Mountain series so if you’ve read first book then you’ve meet both Mac and Connor. Since I did read the first book in this series I was interested to read how it would play out between these two. And they didn’t disappoint! This novel was funny, intense, intriguing, and with page burning scenes. I love Mac because she is just an all-around bad ass heroine, while Connor is funny and captivating hero. I loved these two together and I especially enjoyed reading those in and out of the bed room scenes! Ms. Brooks sure knew how to have her characters mix business and pleasure! Definitely, a novel I would recommend because it’s an easy 5 star read!
This was a hot and steamy, yet heartfelt romance. Ms. Brooks took a love-hate relationship and made it into much more than a clichéd trope.
Mack & Connor's story reminds us that just because you've known a person for a while, it doesn't mean you know everything about them.
The banter between the two main characters was one of the things I loved about this book. The other was how the author made the transitions from anger to passion effortlessly.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, which I received from NetGalley & Entangled Publishing.
Two very different characters with different backgrounds and thoughts.
This opposites attract story is done in a matter that is not like others. It will have you glad you picked up this book. The banter between characters had me rolling with laughter.
When they opened their eyes to what was really going on emotionally, I found that so enticing. These two both have made mistakes but when they realize the truth it was amazing.
My only complaint would be the over use of certain statements. A few mentions are understandable but after that it becomes over kill and dare I say annoying. Other than that I like the story and the characters a lot.
Rebecca Brooks proves that frenemies-to-lovers can be hot as hell in Make Me Beg. Connor and Mackenzie are two interesting, flawed characters with chemistry so appealing I devoured their story in one sitting.
Connor is a chef, a playboy, and a man who hasn’t ever committed to putting down roots. Gold Mountain was just supposed to be his stop onto bigger and better things, but there’s something about the town – and about Mack – that keeps him rooted to the spot. Connor is easy to like. Despite his love ’em and leave ’em ways and the way he frustrates Mack, he’s got a good heart and his character develops wonderfully. I loved watching him come into his own as he fell for Mack. And speaking of the woman who can bring Connor to his knees, Mack is equally stubborn and can be a bit combative, but she’s got a good heart, and a past that has scarred her and left her with mile-high walls to hide her vulnerability. It’s clear that she and Connor would make an excellent pair, but the way they make assumptions and don’t communicate threatens to derail them. Normally the lack of communication would be incredibly frustrating to me, but Ms. Brooks does an excellent job of making me see why Mack and Connor are the way they are. Sex both clarifies and complicates things for them, and the road to happily ever after definitely isn’t an easy one for these two. Surprisingly, what made Make Me Beg stand out for me was the downs rather than the ups. Mack in particular makes mistakes that hurt Connor, but he actually calls her on it – something that rarely happens in the books I’ve read lately – and I appreciated that both of them not only wholly accepted one another, but were willing to stand up for themselves when needed.
While it’s a rocky road for Mack and Connor, that doesn’t mean the story is missing out on red-hot moments. Make Me Beg is insanely sexy and when Mack and Connor are on the same page they make an incredible couple. I finished Make Me Beg wanting to explore the world of Gold Mountain more. While Mack and Connor’s story can be read as a standalone, I will definitely be picking up the first Men of Gold Mountain book, Make Me Stay!
This was an absolutely amazing read loved the main characters the story had so many ups and downs that just kept you read until you were finished . The Author did a great job writting this book it's a must read I would highly recommend you so won't be disappointed this is a first read for me by this author and I will read more of her books if there anything like this book I just finished reading.
This is a love/hate romance story. I just couldn't put this book down till I'd finished the last page. The chemistry between the characters is set the pages alight hot. The background story of these characters is fantastic. These book can be read as stand alone. This book has a fantastic ending. You are always in for a fantastic read with this author. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Overall, I enjoyed the back and forth banter between Connor and Mack. There were a few times where Mack was really, really whiny and I wanted to throat punch her. Otherwise, I enjoyed the story and the characters.
4.5 stars
Make Me Beg by Rebecca Brooks was a very heartfelt and entertaining read. I really enjoyed it.
When I started reading Make Me Beg I wasn't sure I was going to like/connect with Connor.
To me he came across a little too cocky and a little too sure of himself. But the more time I spent hearing his thoughts the more he grew on me.
I loved his passion and I loved seeing him and Mack together. They made me laugh with their banter and antics. They truly had a love/hate relationship going on.
Mack/Mackenzie was such a great character. She was passionate, she was smart and she could cut you down with just one look.
I loved getting to know her and I loved how much she cared about her craft as a Bartender. For her it was more than just mixing drinks, it was the sweet memories of the two special people who took her in, showed her love and stability, something she never had growing up.
Watching the relationship between Connor and Mack unfold had me laughing, smiling one minute to wanting to hit them on the head with my frustration the next. These two had off the charts chemistry, their sexy times made my iPad sizzle but unless they find a way to move from the past hurts and trust each other 110% it was never going to come to anything.
I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, so all I'll say is by the end of the book I was one very happy girl to have read Make Me Beg.
Make Me Beg is the second book from the Men of Gold Mountain series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.
Looking forward to the next book, I'm hoping author Rebecca Brooks gives us Abbi's story next, that girl needs to find her forever :)

The sparks start early and the passion quickly catches flame between Mack and Connor. I love the way she knows what she wants and means what she says. Connor has a mouth that's as dirty as his fantasies, but a heart as pure as the driven snow. With Make Me Beg, Rebecca Brooks strikes the match that sets the stage for some real explosive action in and out of the bedroom. Personality meets temptation, with a ton of heart for good measure. HOT FUN!!
Co-workers to friends ... to lovers? Sexy chemistry turns into an unforgettable night, but ultimately Mack isn't into womanizers like him ... so where can it possibly go? Can the tough girl bartender hold her own with the player chef?
Mackenzie Ellinsworth is sassy and can work a bar like nobodies business, but she keeps even her friends at arms length. Nobody knows what she works so hard for ... or where she came from.
Connor Branding was interested in Mack from day one, but after being shot down he went on to brighter pastures and settled for being the friend she loved to hate on. Now they are being handed the opportunity to have bigger pieces of the pie and open their own bar/restaurant. Will they be able to put down their stubbornness and agree on anything?
Oh did Ms. Brooks bring it with this newest addition of the series. I fell in love with this story and with Connor and Mack; the chemistry and back-and-forth between the two was off-the-charts. I had a silly grin pretty much throughout the whole of their interactions.
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
This is the first of the Men of Gold Mountain series I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The banter between Connor and Mack was hilarious to read albeit frustrating to them. Mack tried to deny the sexual tension between them while Connor never did give up. Everyone in town could see where their relationship was headed but them, if they weren't too stubborn to realize it. I really loved Mack's friend Abbi, who had a way of "laying it all out there" sometimes causing more trouble than good.
This was a very enjoyable read and once I started, I couldn't put it down!
Mackenzie (Mack) and Connor have had feelings for each other since they met. But they have successfully avoided acknowledging them to themselves also.
Now they are to be co partners in a bar and restaurant, and are in the process of renovating it, except they can't seem to agree on anything. But the more they argue the more brighter their chemistry burns.
Make me beg was a fun, scorching hot, funny, satisfying read. The sparring between Mack and Connor was highly amusing. Their chemistry was sizzling hot. Their vulnerabilities and fears made them feel real. Ms Brooks has written a very entertaining read and I can't wait for the next book in the Men of Gold Mountain series.
