Sailor is seeking redemption after falling to the lure of drugs and abandoning her father. It took her years for her to get clean, but now that she’s back, Sailor finds her father has died and willed his most precious possession—the title to his bar—to someone else. Her plan? Walk into the bar, speak with the owner, and leave with the keys at a special discounted price. He knew her father, after all.

Unfortunately, she recognizes the owner. From the night before when they got freaky on her cousin’s sofa.

Ryan is barely keeping his bar afloat when he meets Sailor. The connection is instant, and they end up having a hot one-night stand. He doesn’t expect that woman to show up the next day, offering to buy his bar. Or to find out her identity. Ryan knew Sailor’s father well—a man Ryan himself considered family—and Sailor’s abandonment did not go unnoticed. The last thing Ryan will ever do is give up the bar. But there’s something about quirky self that calls to him. Can all be forgiven?

I adored Sailor right off the bat. She’s just too cute, and when she’s nervous—which is a lot, mind you, especially around the bearded, muscled wonder that is Ryan—she has a tendency to ramble. Oh, my. The things this girl says! She was laugh-out-loud funny, and though she has a hard past, she acknowledges her mistakes and she really wants to make things right. What you see is what you get with Sailor. An open book that’s refreshing to see!

Ryan has the rug swept out from under him. Doubly so when Sailor’s identity drops out of left field. There’s a lot of hard feelings on Ryan’s part. He can’t trust that Sailor is clean, that she has changed. Not only did Ryan have to watch Sailor’s father get sick, but he stayed with the man through Sailor’s abandonment. Because of all that, Ryan is wary. He’s so loyal to Sailor’s father that I feel like we only scratched the surface of his character. I was left wanting more.

I love when a book is set in your hometown. I hate it when it isn't what you expected.
Sailor is back home in Boston and now sh his fighting to get her late father's bar back. The problem is, her one night stand, Ryan is the new owner. Her dad left the bar to him after she left him and was on drugs. Now, Sailor is recovered and wanting a piece of her dad back to try to make things right.

I wasn't crazy about this story. I liked Ryan, didn't care for Sailor much. And there wasn't much Boston in the book.

I'm almost positive I read the first book in this series. I don't have a very specific memory but I recall thinking it was pretty good. I probably did not like this book as much because it stumbled on one of the things I can't stand- a clueless heroine.

Ok so Sailor gets the bright idea to return to her Father's bar to "take over" after he passes away. Slight problem. Sailor left home when she was 18. She was a super wild teenager and went out to sew her wild oats. Or get some oats sewn....I don't know. Whatever the case may be, her Father passes away and Sailor decides to go back to Boston and claim his bar. Her idea is to save up some cash and use it to buy out the owner. By the way, the owner is Ryan. Ryan has been running the bar for years and it was left to him by Sailor's Father. Ryan is a good guy who really loved Sailor's Father.

Sailor and Ryan meet totally by accident. To make a long story short, the two wind up having a one night stand. They are extremely attracted to one another. While the chemistry was strong, it did not go over well when Sailor marched into Ryan's bar and told him she was there to claim it. Ryan had heard of Sailor as the wild child who left her sick Dad. The minute he finds out that Sailor is the hot Sailor he met before, all the chemistry goes poof. Suddenly Sailor finds herself just begging Ryan for a job so she can stay near the memories of her Father. Ryan agrees ad the chemistry quickly reappears between the two. Eventually it all gets worked out.

My issue is that I just felt like Sailor was stupid. I have no idea why she thought Ryan would just give her his bar for almost no money. It was a source of continuous aggravation to me. After Sailor and Ryan start working together, I liked seeing them together but Sailor still irritated me. She is supposed to be quirky but she comes across more as kind of flighty and I just wasn't into it. The sex scenes are ok. Nothing world changing but a solid ok. In the end, the romance works but it just wasn't my favorite story.

I have mixed feelings about this one... loved the start (holy hotness) but after that things got mired down a bit with the main themes of the book - regret, angst, redemption. Lost the feelings from the characters that I was looking for. Still enjoyed but was left feeling like I needed more.

A Moment of Madness by Brooklyn Skye was a book about finding redemption and second chances. And though I did not love the book, there were many things I did enjoy.

Sailor Carlson made some bad decisions when she was younger and fell into the wrong crowd. Those bad decisions took her life on a downward spiral. In the process, she lost her father when she walked away from him. It is one of her biggest regrets. But she is ready to make amends. Her dad may have passed away, but she could honor him by buying back the bar he owned in his honor.

But Ryan Edwards, the man who inherited the Alibi, is not what she expected. He makes it very clear the bar is not up for sale, especially for the likes of her. Not ready to give up on her dream, she goes to work for him as a waitress in hopes to change his mind.

Ryan has been running the Alibi for years. The man who left it to him saved him and was like a father to him. It is for him that he continues to run the bar and struggles to keep it going. He is used to the woman who come in and the one-night-stands that satisfy him for now. Until she walks into his life.

I liked Sailor. She had regrets and knew her mistakes affected others, but she is ready to make things right. She was strong, determined and optimistic. And I loved her dog, Drex! Just as quirky as his owner! Ryan was moody and grumpy and tried to keep Sailor at arm’s length once he knew who she was, but she slowly won him over. Even as he continued to push her away.

Sailor was determined to make amends, but her father was gone. And as she spent time with Ryan, she came to learn how her past mistakes inadvertently affected his future. I really liked Sailor. She was vulnerable over her past mistakes, but determined to right her wrongs. Though I did like Ryan, he could be unkind at times. At first, all he saw was the daughter that hurt the man that meant so much to him.

This was a nice, quick read. There was a lot of push and pull between Sailor and Ryan. And the things that came out of Sailor’s mouth had me laughing out loud!

Sailor Carlson comes back to Boston to make amends with her dad, only to find he passed away, and his bar, the Alibi, now belongs to a bearded, grumpy hottie. Mr. Hottie liked her enough for a night of nameless sex on the kitchen counter, but he wants nothing to do with her now he knows who she is.

Ryan Edwards has been running the Alibi for seven years. Being in a bar night after night means he’s no stranger to one-night stands. But when the quirky, beautiful blonde he spent a hot night with shows up at his bar claiming it used to belong to her father, his guard goes right up.

Ryan’s desperate for a waitress, and Sailor wants a chance to work in the place that meant so much to her dad. If only the tenuous trust they establish were as strong as the pesky attraction simmering between them.

My major issue with this book was the hero. I usually have to like the hero at some point to like the book and I didn't like the hero by the end of the book. I didn't feel that he grew any by the end either. Usually, there is some growth on both ends and this only had growth on Sailor's end. She's a completely loveable character and I felt like she deserved better than a broody, moody guy like Ryan. However, I love Brooklyn's writing style. I think she writes in a very emotional and light way so that you get the characters. I just didn't like Ryan. I tried. I had 3 books that kind of had me in a book funk of bad heroes.

I usually don't read reviews about books I'm reviewing because I don't want to be biased but I was really torn on this book and needed to see if others were as well. I was glad to see that others were having the same internal dialogue with themselves and saying the same things about the hero as me. One of their big complaints was that he was too moody and that was mine as well. I hate it when I'm torn as to what I'm going to write but I don't read other reviews until after mine has been written. This book was okay for me but I'll still be reading whatever Brooklyn comes out with next.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Redemption and love are the running themes in this book by Brooklyn Skye. Sailor Carlson comes back to Boston to fix the issues she has with her parent only to find he passed away, and his bar, the Alibi, now belongs to this hot , sexy yet super grumpy character named Ryan.
Ryan met Sailor in a passion-filled night yet in the light of the day, Ryan wants nothing to do with Sailor when the truth comes out who she is and who she is related to. Boy did he temper flared BIG TIME. Their first meeting is still something they both remember and can’t bring up for it is still pretty prevalent in their minds. Ryan and Sailor made great characters as I got to know them in this story- their fears, their dreams and their thoughts on one another. It was like watching two chess players at work during this story. There was laughter, there was tears, and most of all, discovery. That they could fall in love and give their hearts to one another. This is what made this such a good read.

My rating: 4.2 stars ****

A Moment of Madness was a quick, fun and steamy read. I really enjoyed it.

The storyline was well written, the plot held my interest all throughout the book and the characters were likable and very entertaining.

Ryan and Sailor were great characters, I enjoyed getting to know them.
They made me laugh, they touched my heart with their stories, they frustrated me a little and they made me swoon. I loved them together and after everything they've been through they totally deserved their happily ever after.

Overall, A Moment of Madness was a beautifully written, heartwarming, steamy read with characters you can easily connect with and I highly recommend it.

Redemption and love….

Regret. Boatloads of sadness-infused and heartbreaking regret carry Sailor back to her home town. To the place she still calls home. Years after leaving her family, she is back to connect with a past she ran from so long ago. Forgiveness may be lost but she won’t stop looking for redemption, no matter what (or who) stands in her way… And no matter how attractive, or sexy, that blockade may be.

Ryan met Sailor in a passion-filled night that quickly turned into ashes when the truth was revealed. He was angry and not afraid to let her know… even if they both still remembered their heated first meeting.

“And then – with his teeth – he dragged her panties down without breaking her gaze. Holy. Effing. Hot.”

Hot? Oh yes, flaming, have 9-1-1 on standby, hot! It’s too bad they couldn’t enjoy that but no sooner had they ignited than the fire was doused by anger, resentment and pure sadness. They were both stuck with the truth neither could deny and digging out of it, finding a way to reconcile it, was going to take up a lot of emotion. Emotion that neither really wanted but somehow could not ignore…

I have mixed emotions about this book. Interesting, multi-dimensional characters, a second chance, hot sex. Yes, lots to love about this story that had so much to say about forgiveness and redemption. And the story was good, really good, but with a few problems that stopped me from throwing myself into the emotional maelstrom (like I really wanted to!). While Sailor seemed true to herself throughout, Ryan may not have been as steady and he threw me off a few times in perhaps not the best way. With the main storyline feeling unfished somehow, I was left with a feeling of needing more…

Saying that, however, solid writing and interesting characters will always have me coming back to this author’s stories. Over and over again. -Diane, 3.5 stars

This book was cute and funny, as well as steamy. Sailor & Ryan's romance was a second chance of sorts. I enjoyed Sailor's inner dialogues, and the way she expressed herself. I found myself liking her immediately, and even after the author revealed why she left Boston, I still liked her.

I liked Ryan, too, with his acceptance of Sailor's quirkiness. When he realised was behaving like an idiot, I liked that he admitted it and asked for forgiveness.

I enjoyed the secondary characters. Though this is a standalone, enough was mentioned about Micah and Laurel that I want to read their story.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, generously given by NetGalley & Entangled Publishing.

An awkward meet cute that involves a bar, a beard, a dying houseplant, and a drunk cousin is just the start of the fun in A Moment of Madness. Brooklyn Skye’s second Boston Alibi story is both hot and humorous, which made it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Sailor is a former drug addict who has worked hard to get clean and put her life back together. As a teenager, she turned her back on her father, and now that he’s gone she’s looking for redemption by trying to make his bar a success. Sailor’s past made her a rather unique heroine and I liked and admired her for her strength and determination to make amends and be a better person. She’s a funny, caring woman who’s a bit goofy and a lot of fun to read about. When she walks into the Alibi, ready to make an offer on the bar, she’s stunned to learn that the current owner is her previous night’s one-night stand. She and Ryan hit it off from the start (even with the aforementioned pitiful plant and drunk cousin in the way), but Ryan doesn’t trust the woman who turned her back on the man who was like a father to him. Their mutual attraction (and the fact that the bar is short-staffed) means that Ryan can’t ignore her, no matter how much he may want to. Ryan is gruff, but he can also be sexy and interesting. He definitely has trust issues when it comes to Sailor, but when the two of them are on the same page they make an excellent pair, both in bed and out.

Where A Moment of Madness falters is the climax of the story. The dreaded “big misunderstanding” comes into play (a personal pet peeve which may not bother other readers) and it takes the shine off of Ryan. There was also a dropped thread, which was minor but bugged me a bit. Even with these quibbles, I thought Ryan and Sailor’s story was fun and I liked it enough that I will definitely pick up the first Boston Alibi book, A Moment of Weakness.

3 1/2 STARS!

A story of regret and redemption. It was a fun read, and the characters are pretty likable ... my one pet peeve, and it might just be me, but the constant "Heh-heh" of the heroine was like nails on a chalkboard ... so irritating! Overall I enjoyed it, but didn't fall in love with it.

Sailor Carlson made a boat load of mistakes in her life that she only wishes she could have the chance to atone for. Her biggest regret is how she treated her father, but sadly, he died before she made the effort to come back home and make up with him. She lives with that guilt on her shoulders every day, and thinks if she could somehow feel close to him again, she could be more at peace.

Ryan Edwards meets Sailor one night at a bar and has a sexy night with her, but the next day his eyes are opened when she comes into his bar and makes it plain that she thinks it should be hers. He was left the bar by a man who was like a father to him in his teenage years, and has been running it ever since. It's certainly not his fault Sailor disowned her father all those years ago!

As they let down their guard and get to know each other, will they figure out they actually like each other? And as Sailor works side-by-side at the bar with Ryan, will it make her feel a part of her father that she's missed all these years?

This was an okay read for me. Ryan was a bit annoying. The story is fast paced and held my interest. An entertaining read. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

A Moment of Madness is the second novel in the Boston Alibi series. Ryan is the perfect love/hate hero, he’s that hero that you love but feel some dislike for. While his heroine, Sailor, is so beyond likeable and is the perfect person to put the moody bar owner in his place. Usually it’s the hero asking for redemption but I love how in this novel it’s Sailor. She is looking for forgiveness for her past sins but the man she needs forgiveness from isn’t alive anymore and all that’s left is the man who runs his bar. Ryan now runs Sailor’s father’s bar and isn’t about to let her take ways something that was left to him by his father figure. I love Sailor’s tenacity in proving she is a changed woman and isn’t afraid to stand up to the mean and vicious man who isn’t afraid to throw low blows. As Sailor begins to crack the hard a** that is Ryan, the begin to grow close to one another. I really enjoyed this book even though at times I wanted to punch Ryan. I would give this novel 4.5 stars.

I was surprised by the depth of this book. It had my feelings all over the place (silly, happy, sad, nervous, angry and then I’d circle back and start over) but in a good way. I was deeply invested in both Sailor and Ryan. A Moment of Madness was a crazy good ride with two complex characters that really came alive on the pages.

Ryan, with his big muscled body, that beard and those eyes, HOT! But he was also a softy – not even his preconceived assumptions about Sailor could keep him away. He has some hang ups but with good reason. He had a crappy home life and Sailor’s dad, Marty took him in, gave him a job, basically became his mentor and father figure. He was with Marty all through his illness, up until the very end and inherited the Alibi, the bar Marty owned. From what he could piece together, Sailor had rejected the one man that had pulled him from a questionable future and he has to deal with a lot of guilt and resentment when she comes back.

Sailor Carlson comes home looking for forgiveness. She isn’t a rebellious teen anymore, she’s made some horrible mistakes in her past but she needs to make amends with her father, even if he isn’t here anymore. Her plan to buy back the Alibi and run it like her father had once wanted, doesn’t exactly go as planned when Ryan flat out refuses to ever sell the one place that meant so much to Marty.

I was pleasantly surprised with this story about second chances, redemption and love. Sailor and Ryan were explosive together. I loved their flirting, how Sailor sprouted the first thing that came to mind and how Ryan found her quirks silly but still endearing. Their chemistry was off the charts and the secondary characters added to the overall story. Micah’s insight to Ryan and his relationship with Marty, Marissa being a supportive cousin and friend to Sailor and Drex, that dog had a heap load of personality!

Although this isn’t 100% free of drama it was something that build up. It wasn’t out of left field, you can kind of seeing it coming and although I’m not a fan of fast judgements or misunderstanding, I felt that Ryan stepped up and asked for forgiveness and Sailor didn’t immediately roll over to forgive him. She stuck it out and made him grovel to make up for his pushing her away.

Overall a fast, sexy read with great characters and a great HFN ending. Sadly there is no epilogue but the way it wrapped up made up for the lack of it.

Favorite Line:
Truth #30: Stubble makes the world go round.

Safety: Neither are virgin, Ryan is 27 and Sailor is 25. There is no cheating or OM/OW drama.
Triggers: Sailor is a recovering drug addict (all past tense), death of a parent, separation of a few weeks towards the end, and moderate push and pull from both H and h.

A Moment of Madness is a sexy romance with more depth than I had been expecting. I haven't read the first book in this series, A Moment of Weakness, but it didn't matter, as A Moment of Madness stands on its own in every way. Sailor has come back to Boston to make amends to her father's memory. She had literally disowned her father when she was in high school, to run away with her high school boyfriend, and gotten into a life full of drugs and dealing. She hasn't seen nor spoken to her father since then, and now that she's clean and sober and feeling so many regrets, she wants to buy back the bar that used to be her father's before he died and willed it to someone Sailor has never met, and who she thinks is a "money grubbing a-hole who'd weaseled into his life for the purpose of stealing all his things."

But, Sailor finds out that the money grubbing a-hole is none other than the bearded hottie with whom she had a seriously steamy one night stand the night before. Oops!! And that hottie has no intentions of selling his bar to the girl who abandoned her father, the man who was more like a father to Ryan than his own father ever was.

I love both Sailor and Ryan. Sailor is quirky and sweet, and obviously strong. After all, she's a sober addict and intent on keeping her life clean and to do justice to the father she had abandoned. Ryan too is sweet and strong, and goes after what he wants and doesn't allow anyone to deter him from what he wants. His only drawback is his fear of abandonment, and it leads him to make a really brutal (and wrong) assumption that hurts both Sailor and himself. But, the way he apologized and groveled is so sweet and swoony (and straight out of one of my favorite movies, Love Actually!!) that there was no way Sailor couldn't forgive him.

The only reason I didn't give A Moment of Madness 5 stars is because of a lack of an epilogue. I want to know more about Sailor and Ryan and how they're doing in their future. Perhaps there are more books coming in this series, though, that might give me a glimpse into their future. I hope so!

A Moment of Madness by Brooklyn Skye was an okay read for me. I love the storyline of the book but the hero wasn’t doing it for me. Don’t get me wrong I love the heroine, Sailor since she seemed to be the only character who had proper development and growth unlike Ryan. Sailor was an easy character to love because she allowed us to see her vulnerability as she made mistakes when she was young and in such learned from them. And so when she meets, Ryan who is broody and wary of Sailor, he makes things difficult for her. The push and pull is there and so is the chemistry so all in all, it was only a matter of time till both characters let down their guards when it came to to the matters of the heart.

While I didn’t love this book, I will say that Brooklyn Skye will be on my radar as she has a knack for storytelling.

If you love a good steamy romance than you've come to the right place!! Be prepared to blush as you devour this novel! You will fall in love with Sailor from her first steps through the bar with her arms wrapped around aplant looking for Santa. I'm a sucker for a good romance that goes in the exact direction you want! If you're looking for a quick and light read as you enjoy spring break you've come to the right place!

Brooklyn Skye had sucked me into the story at the first chapter because of the main female character Sailor Carlson and her eccentric personality. The first chapter has Sailor on a wild goose chase with a plant to find her cousin at a bar. She ends up meeting a sexy bearded man who is with her cousin who she thought her cousin needed saving from. Well, let's just say the sexy bearded man needed saving. I was literally laughing at all the craziness of Sailor, her cousin Marissa, and the sexy bearded man who's name is Ryan Edwards.

Sailor is a girl that has cleaned up her act. She's back in her hometown to try to get back her father's bar. She knows it's not going to be easy, especially since she disowned her father and now he is no longer here. She feels terrible for what she did and now she's trying everything to make amends with herself on what she did to her father.

She was by far my favorite part of A Moment of Madness. I couldn't get enough of Sailor. Her commentary in the story was awesome. There were scenes between her and Ryan that were funny because of what she was thinking in her head and even out loud. The best ones were when she and Ryan were intimate together. Ryan had no idea what he was getting into.

Ryan though was kind of hot and cold to me. I liked him sometimes and other times, I didn't like his personality and how he treated Sailor. He didn't trust Sailor and I could see why he didn't trust her, but he took it too far. I liked him in the first book, when he was introduced, but getting to know him in his own book, I wanted to smack him a couple of times for Sailor, especially towards the end.

I really enjoyed the detailed scenes between the characters. Brooklyn had me constantly wanting to find out what would happen next to the characters. The storyline was full of drama between Sailor and Ryan and their own past stories. There was also the bar drama too in the story that was intense. Sailor knew how to handle herself though in the story.

I give this book 4 stars and highly recommend it to Contemporary Romance readers out there. I'm glad that Brooklyn wrote Ryan's story and hope to read more in the Boston Alibi series soon. :)
