I'm sorry I didn't review this in time.

I did get most of the books in the series in paperback in the meantime and I loved them! One of my all times favorites - Marissa Meyer's writing, characters and unique world really stand out in the YA /fantasy/dystopian/sci-fi area. There really is a bit of everything for any reader!

Thank you!

This book was well paced, exciting, fun, nerve wracking, well written and extremely clever. My only complaint is that the "big reveal" was kind of obvious. But seriously, even though I figured out what was coming, I was still captivated. I love Meyer's writing. The futuristic setting was awesome. GOOD READ.

First in a young adult fantasy series, this is a retelling on Cinderella. Cinder is a kick ass cyborg and this book will appeal to both young adults and adults alike. I recommend it.

Marissa Meyer knocked Cinder (the first book of the Lunar Chronicles) into outerspace with her retelling of the classic Cinderella story. Instead of pumpkins, mice, rats and lizards, Meyer gives us Cyborgs and Androids, There's still an evil step-mother and sister and handsome prince so no worries on there. The setting is in the far future where cyborgs and androids are second rate citizens. The moon is inhabited by Earthlings and is ruled a mind controlling Queen Levana who has plans to take over Earth. Can Cinder stop her? Check it out and see for yourself.

Many thanks for NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the opportunity to read this book.

inder is a new, fresh look and retelling of an old, famous fairytale. This story takes place in the far future. One in which the moon is inhabited by Lunars, cyborgs are the norm and technology is booming.

I have put off reading this series for years because I wasn't interested at all about reading a rehashed story about, Cinderella. Much less one, in which she is a mechanic! Well --- let me tell you, I was wrong, wrong, wrong! This is a wonderful tale, so far fetched from the original story, I forget it was based on one.

Cinder is a strong, interesting character and the storytelling is at its best. Meyer really knows how to pull in a reader and keep them turning the pages. Twist and Turns hook you in and having you rooting for this delightful character (one of my favorites to date).

Cinder is a lovely cyborg who lives with her evil step-mother and step-sisters. She works as a mechanic to bring in money for the family. One day the price in disguise brings in his favorite bot to be repaired by Cinder, who has quite the reputation for fixing anything. This one encounter changes everything for Cinder, her family, the prince and the world....

This is not a typical, Cinderella story. Go, get your copy now and start reading!

Set in New Beijing, everything that Cinder, a cyborg, once knew starts to crumble when Prince Kai smiles at her at the market one day. From then on, she discovers who she really is but all she can think about is escaping from that evil stepmother at home. When the balance of the country is placed in Cinder’s hands, she must choose.

Let’s get a few things straightened out: for some reason, I’m not much of a science fiction lover, nor do I like books with robots. Dystopian backdrops catch my eye but many fall flat after the first few pages. However, that was not the case with this novel. I LOVED this book. Seriously, I have no excuse as to why I waited this long to read it. Cinder should be on the top of your to-read list.

Retellings have always caught my eye and I wasn’t sure what I was getting into except that Cinder is most obviously a retelling of Cinderella. It was so much more than that. With retellings, though, readers must be aware that the story, at most times, will be predictable. There have been several retellings of Cinderella but Cinder brings something new to the mix. In retellings, readers want to know how the author will twist the tale to make it their own but still keep the magic of the original. Marissa Meyer did just that.

Meyer’s world places us in New Beijing, after World War IV. Readers get swept into her story, her world that you forget you are even reading. It was a unique experience which quickly claimed a spot on my favorite-books shelf.

Not only does Meyer bring you in with the setting but her characters, even minor ones stay with you. Even after one read, I feel like I’ve known these characters all my life, like we are best friends or neighbors. Iko is one of my favorite characters. She was hilarious and sassy. But… Prince Kai was every girl’s Prince Charming. I mean, it is a retelling of Cinderella, everyone is bound to be attracted to the prince.

If you think you know how Cinderella ends, think again. The ending will leave you shocked. Cliffhanger galore!

Marissa Meyer wrote a great debut and continues Cinder’s story in the sequel, Scarlet(which is out now). She knows how to keep readers on their toes, being swept into a fairytale filled with cyborgs, creatures from the moon, and don’t forget about the prince.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer, a young adult science fiction Cinderella retelling with cyborgs and androids, got a lot of hype when it was first released, and I thought it sounded really cool. I didn’t pick it up at the time, but after a recent rave review of the audiobook by Suzi (she does monthly book recaps too!), I decided it was finally time. I absolutely fell in love with this novel–which also has an excellent narrator, if you decide to listen to the audio.

I definitely predicted all the twists of Cinder from the beginning, but I can’t say it made me love it any less. The writing is just so good that even if I could guess what was coming, I still loved the world building and characters. Not only is Cinder herself both tough and relatable, but all the side characters (especially Iko, the android) are really awesome too. I am excited to pick up Scarlet next because the ending of Cinder is pretty intense!

OBVIOUSLY, I loved Cinder. Who didn't?? Literally no one I want to talk to. Cyborg Cinderella retelling? I am so in. The whole series is perfection and has lead to me to believe Marissa Meyer is bae. Wonderful, amazing, beginning to a delightfully fantastical series!

Best YA sci-fi retelling on the face of the earth. Not kidding. Meyer started not one but two trends with Cinder:
Retellings
Sci fi
This book was amazing; the concept was boss; the writing spectacular. I love Meyer and everything she writes.
