This is my first Pamela Clare book to read and it won’t be my last. I loved this story and the characters, I just couldn’t put it down.

ARC received for review

Another great book in this series. Jesse and Ellie have had a lot of hard times. Together they overcome all the obstacles in their past. Loved her twins Daniel and Daisy. Loved seeing all the peeps from the Team. That epilogue...make sure you have a box of Kleenex handy...

Falling Hard is the third Colorado High Country book by Pamela Clare. I have not read the previous books in the series, and while I can see where some of the characters must cross over from book to book, I was able to fully enjoy this read without having read the other books.

Ellie Meeks promised her pilot husband that if anything happened to him, she would live her life to the fullest. Three years later, she is still alone, raising the twins he never met. She has no interest in dating or meeting men—until one snowy night when a stranger helps her get her sick kids safely home. That stranger turns out to be a former Army Ranger and a member of the elite Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. Jesse Moretti came to Colorado to get Iraq out of his head, using the adrenaline of extreme sports and high-risk mountain rescues to keep his mind off the past. But getting involved with Ellie might be the riskiest thing he’s ever done. It’s not just their explosive chemistry. There’s something about Ellie that gets inside him, opening him to feelings he’s tried hard to ignore. Ellie feels alive in Jesse’s arms and happier than she ever thought she’d feel again. But their relationship comes at a price for him, and soon Ellie sees that she must help Jesse fight the demons of his past to protect the love of a lifetime—and save the heart of a hero.

Falling Hard is a romance that deals with loss, risk, grief, and moving on. Ellie lost her husband before her twins were even born. She has struggled but thankfully has the support of family. She is smart, compassionate, and resilient. Jesse is still reeling from the loss and horror that he faced as an Army Ranger. Now working in a high risk job and volunteering on a rescue team he is doing everything he can to save others. Neither is looking for any kind of relationship, and yet after a chance meeting they cannot seem to stay away from each other. I enjoyed the slow growth of their relationship, and how Jesse is aware of his faults and emotional scars. I think the honest of both characters, and the struggles they have with emotions and connecting make to book poignant and relatable to readers. I loved that the act of moving on was not about forgetting, but in honoring those we've lost and living life as best we can.

Falling Hard is a solid romance, with complex characters and emotion. If you enjoy realistic characters and struggles combined with a slow-burn romance, then you are going to enjoy this read.

Truly a story of two individuals, both dealing with loss and damaged hearts, Falling Hard is a story that will bring you to tears, break your heart, and then ultimately make you believe in the true healing power of love. For fans of Pamela Clare, these stories have just enough action and drama that we are tempted to categorize this new series as Romantic Suspense, but these stories truly are all about the two people falling in love and finding a way to live happily ever after. This third story in the series is one that grabs and keeps attention from the very beginning and tugs our heartstrings as Jesse and Ellie come to terms with their relationship and the ramifications for their futures as they try to build a new life together. I enjoyed very much reading Jesse’s story even though it broke my heart seeing him dealing with his fears and his memories. Ellie was her own brand of crazy and damaged, but she managed to stay strong not only for herself but for her twins. If you haven’t read along and this is the first novel in the series you’ve read, don’t feel like you’ll be left behind because Jesse’s story can stand all on its own and you even get filled in a little bit so you can catch glimpses of the romances in the previous stories. I loved getting to see Jesse getting out of his comfort zone and offering his help and himself to Ellie and her boys, while Ellie was the kind of woman that I find inspiring even as I know she’s not really a role model for me. Ellie is a great mom, even as her personal life has atrophied and she devotes herself to her children even though her heart is slowly coming back to life as Jesse offers her a glimpse of the life she deserves. Ellie has a few moments where I wanted to look at her and ask WTF, but she slowly got over her issues and found a way to truly open her heart. Jesse was a good guy all around, even as he tried his hardest to keep himself from falling for Ellie and her boys, which of course turned out to be a pointless task. I LOVED this story and I am really looking forward to whatever comes next for the Colorado High Country series and this Search and Rescue team. Pamela has a way with damaged characters and bringing together two people that don’t seem to go together on paper (sorry for the bad pun), but in the end become the perfect marriage of hearts and lives. If you love a good romance, with some laughs, tears, passion and adventure, then this series is definitely worth adding to your shelves. Thanks for the memorable experience Pamela; I am impatiently awaiting your next work of art.

Loved this book! A very touching story about a military widow and a wounded veteran that find each other and help heal each other.

Is there such a thing as too much swoon in a book? Because Jesse Moretti has it IN SPADES! Damn this book. But as much as Jesse brought his super sexy a-game, this book offers so much heart and emotion it was almost unbearable at times. The loss of a significant other storyline is always one that has me so damn conflicted, but Pamela Clare set Ellie and Jesse's story perfectly. There was plenty of reality threaded into this story, along with incredibly relatable characters, and characters who made me me feel all the things. It's not an easy journey for these two (or rather, four), but it is quite superb in terms of balancing the sad, with the happy, the family/friend time with the sexy time, and the "everything is okay" vibe that runs throughout giving readers the at-ease feeling that's needed after the whirlwind of the story.

Pamela Clare sucked me into the story, and I found myself saying only one more chapter until the end.

I loved this book. I cannot get enough of reading military romance especially when they bring up true things like PTSD to make the book more believable.

Ellie is a single mom of twins, trying to raise them without her husband, a soldier who died in Iraq. She meets Jesse when her car won't start and she is stranded in the snow with her 2 kids. As it turns out, Jesse is her neighbor and knows her husband served and he has been quietly helping her out by shoveling her drive or putting her trash out. It was very sweet.

I struggle with the dead spouse trope. Its such a tightrope walk. The new person is always competing with a ghost. And often as time passes, the surviving spouse often idealizes the person they lost, remembering the best about them. Then, the new person comes in and its difficult to NOT compare them. I have read some books where the author makes it work. It can be done. Its REALLY tricky though. In this story, my problem wasn't so much with the dead spouse, but with not feeling the hero was worthy enough for the heroine.

The story revolves around the will they/won't they type of plot. Jesse is hesitant to enter a relationship. He isn't sure he wants to be a father. He is dealing with so many demons still from his time in the service. Ellie really feels strongly for Jesse and realizes he is dealing with so many issues. She is willing to help him through it. This was where I struggled with the story. Ellie was raising 2 kids without her husband (because he died in Iraq) and Jesse is so wishy-washy. The chemistry is there, they would act on it, then he would back off. I totally understood his reasons and know that his struggle is very real, but it felt unfair to Ellie. She has been through so much that I wanted someone who was all in for her and her children. Jesse gets there, but the conflict of the story is all around his drama and inability to be in a relationship. It is not my favorite trope.

The setting was interesting and there are lots of unique secondary characters. The small mountain town provided lots of interesting moments with the danger and strange events that happen! Bottom line, this book wasn't a hit for me. However, I did enjoy the author's writing style and would be willing to pick other books that had a different trope.

"Falling Hard" is such a beautifully indepth story of hope, love, and moving on, while coming out of tragedies and memories, of two people finally able to come to grips with their pasts. The author wrote with such care of Jesse and Ellie finding love after each suffered their own trauma, but is a slower more developed pace for them. Who doesn't love to see a tough former Army Ranger with 3 year old twins? Ellie's twins was such a lifeline for her after her husband was killed in service, and seeing Jesse fall in love with the twins as well as Ellie is so heartwarming. Being a part of the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team, Jesse doesn't hesitate when tragedy strikes, but dives right in. The story draws you in, written as if the reader is a part of it and not just turning pages in a book. Jesse, Ellie and the twins find their HEA, and put the past where it belongs. The honor that was shown for Ellie's late husband who was a Blackhawk pilot, was not forgotten, but put the past where it belonged. This one had me in tears a few times as if I was there and not just reading a book. I would like to thank NetGalley and the author for gifting me "Falling Hard". My opinion is my own. This is mine 5 Stars!

Good story. What I liked was it had great characters and side characters. I liked the small town atmosphere that gave this story more feelings. The writing was mature, the story was fast faced and I love the book cover. The book description pulled me in. I like the idea of a former Army Ranger coming to the rescue of a single mom who has lost her husband to the military. For the most part, that met my expectations.

What I didn’t like was I felt there was a little too much emphasis on the dead spouse. This is one of those things that a little bit can go a long way and too much can distract from the new love interest.

My other issue was Jesse’s thoughts vs action waged a bit of war in my head. In action, he was great. He stepped up constantly, always rushing in to help anyone and everyone. His time with Ellie’s kids was very cute and what I would want to see in a Hero pursuing a relationship with a single mom. However, he thought a little too much about not being good at relationships and not wanting one. At one point he was telling himself he didn’t want to be a dad. I understand hesitation starting something with a single mom but again, a little bit can go a long way.

I definitely liked the book more than I had issues with it and would read more from this author. ARC provided by Netgalley.

I am a big fan of Pamela Clare and have loved every book I've read by her. Falling Hard is a sexy, hot, romance with action and fantastic characters that made me smile, laugh, brought tears to my eyes and I just couldn't put it down. Jesse is a sexy, hot, alpha hero who you just can't help falling in love with. Ellie is a super strong widow and mother of twins and these two have sizzling chemistry. They help each other heal and put the past behind them. The ending was perfect as was the entire story. I highly recommend this book and all of Pamela's books!

Falling Hard is a wonderful addition to Clare's Colorado High Country Series. This one had great characters in Ellie and Jesse, and her little twins were so adorable! The storyline of the widowed single mother and the former Army Ranger was a really good one, and I loved watching their relationship develop. I thought their romance was both steamy and sweet. I look forward to even more in this series!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This was a sweet, emotional story about letting go and discovering new love. I love Pamela Clare and she really can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned. She knows how to bring characters to life and make them real and flawed and she certainly does this in Falling Hard. She has established interesting and fun characters in this series and I'm loving each and every one of these books. This one is another winner.

4.5 Stars

Falling Hard is the third title in the Colorado High Country series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Although this was my first time reading anything written by Pamela Clare, it will not be my last.

The story line is well written and well paced. I was captivated by Ellie and Jesse's story right from the very first chapter. Both characters are incredibly endearing. Ellie is a strong, intelligent, hard working, kind, compassionate and caring. She's an amazing single mother to her precocious and adorable twins Daisy and Daniel.

Jesse is a protective, sexy, heroic, and sweet hero with a huge heart. A slightly damaged alpha who is a caretaker underneath his tough guy exterior.

This is a story of loss, second chances, and finding love again. It a sweet and steamy blend with moving and emotional heartfelt moments. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, you will need the tissues close by. The emotions felt very realistic and I was enthralled with their story.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship develop. I thoroughly recommend Falling Hard to anyone who enjoys a slow burn, contemporary romance with insta-lust. I look forward to reading more of Pamela Clare's work in the future.

Ellie Meeks promised her husband that she would move on if something happened to him. But for the last three years she has focused on raising the twins Dan "Crash" Meeks never got to meet. She has no interest in moving on until her car breaks down, her son has strep, which she is caught, and she needs to get home. Her knight in shining armor turns out to be Jesse Moretti, a former Army Ranger, who also knew Crash.

Jesse moved to Colorado to escape Iraq and with the help of extreme sports (ski patrol rescues) and mountain climbing to keep his mind of the past. He's still having flashbacks and nightmares to the girl he couldn't save. He's sworn that he isn't the relationship kind but getting involved with Ellie is something that he can't avoid. Their chemistry along with the love he feels for Daisy and Daniel changes his mind. He can't help but love her. Its just that he has to deal with his demons before they can truly be happy.

This book has some ups and downs and times when you just need to grab a box of tissues. This by far is one of the best Pamela Clare books I have read and one of the more touching, realistic, and shows what losing a military husband can be like. I loved the ending and watching these two amazing characters begin their life together. Seeing Jesse from this point of view instead of as a secondary character made me love his character even more! What a great story!!
