Mountains, snow, skiing, friendships, helping others, and love… what a great mix of things this book has to offer to the reader. I found that the author pulled me in to the world of skiing and the beauty of it along with the danger. It makes you want to schedule a journey to the mountains of Montana for some intense skiing. This book is well named because there are trust issues all over the place. Made for a great read and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Story Notes
Susan May Warren’s third installment of her Montana Rescue will thrill and excite her readers from first to last page, making them wish for fresh Ski and Snowboard slopes to set off on their own adventure.
I had a bit of a hard time adjusting to the setting of this most enjoyable book only because I was read it while sitting on the porch of the beach house we rented for family vacation this year. It’s a bit hard to imagine the cold and chill that was such a part of the book when you’re drinking sweet tea and soaking up the warm sun rays but all of that faded quickly as I dove into this wonderful story of trust, love and dogmatic persistence. Ms. Warren has been carefully and thoroughly telling the life stories of the members of the PEAK Rescue team and this book brings readers right back into the thick of things. Choosing to focus this book around former Freeriding Snowboard Champion Gage Watson, Ms. Warren will show the hazards of both taking and not taking risks, both in life and love. Gage was the top freeriding snowboarder in the world three years ago, until his life was ripped apart by the tragic death of fellow snowboarder Dylan McMahon he was supposed to be guiding down the infamous Terminator Wall. Believing that Dylan’s death is his fault, Gage allowed himself to be prosecuted and was stripped of his reputation, fame and medals. Now he works as a member of PEAK Rescue hoping to keep others from following in his ill-fated footsteps. Ella Blair was there three years ago when Dylan died, having come to Outlaw Mountain to convince Gage to refuse Dylan’s request to take him down. Not understanding why Gage still went with Dylan when he promised her he wouldn’t, Ella blamed Gage for Dylan’s death and when given the chance, became the second chair lawyer in the lawsuit filed by Dylan’s parents. Not until the middle of the trial is does she learn that Dylan was high on Marijuana when he made the run with Gage, making the entire suit negligible. But her law firm forbade her by legal force to keep the discovery quiet or her career would be destroyed. Not sure of Gage’s love for her and afraid for what she would do without her career, Ella stays quiet. But she is heartsick over it all because she fell in love with Gage in those days before Dylan’s death. Gage and Ella go their own ways, neither intending to see the other again but God has other plans for them. Ella’s brother Ollie has idolized Gage for years and worked hard to prepare to snowboard the same path down Heaven’s Peak and Terminator Wall. When Ella follows Ollie to Outlaw Mountains, hoping to keep him from dying like Dylan, she quickly realizes the only way to save Ollie is to ask Gage for help. Gage is still smarting over Ella’s choosing the opposing side in his civil suit and is reluctant to risk taking her with him to stop her brother. But Ella refuses to be left behind and determines she will trust Gage to get all of them back down the mountains safely. Gage and Ella will work together on trusting each other and God as they make their treacherous journey after Ollie and will even get the opportunity to find love together again – if only they can forgive each other for past mistakes. Ms. Warren created such an engaging story that I was quite a bit put out when it ended. I’ve really loved getting to know the members of this team and watching them grow together and separately in relationships with others and with God. I love that Ms. Warren makes her characters both raw and real, never glazing over the pain or struggles they each have. And she also includes the ongoing stories of other members of the team along with the character she is mostly focusing on. I loved learning more about Ty, Jess, Pete and Ben and seeing how their relationships with each other have evolved throughout the books. Ms. Warren gave me a closer look at Ty and how he is seeking the courage to get back into the air after a devastating crash broke his legs and stole his confidence. Meeting Ella’s friend Brette, a news reporter, means Ty must run interference for the rest of the team to keep her from exposing all their secrets to the rest of the world. But its Ty’s relationship with Jess that Brette is most interested in as she is feeling attracted to him herself. As they grow closer when Brette is hit with food poisoning, Ty will have to find the courage to tell her his story and not hide from love behind his “relationship” with Jess. And Brette will have to realize that not all men are only seeking a relationship that will benefit them alone. I will certainly be recommending this exciting and wonderful book to others and will purchase a hard copy for my shelves at home to reread soon. The next book in this series is coming out in January and I am really looking forward to reading her story of Ian Shaw, the creator of the PEAK Rescue team.
I received this E-book free of charge from Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I will receive no fiscal compensation from either company for this review.
Susan May Warren has long been one of my favorite authors and is definitely on my don’t miss short list. It is always exciting when I actually receive a copy of her latest book to review but it is no question that I WILL have a copy asap. I actually purchased the first two books in this series and loved them so I was happy to receive a review copy from Revell for “A Matter of Trust”.
One of the most adrenaline laced books I have encountered, “A Matter of Trust” had me holding my breath at times while hoping Gage and Ella would find her brother and that all of them would actually make it down the mountain alive. Yet this book is more than just action and adventure, daring and danger. The emotionally charged story explores the depths of feelings between Gage and Ella who must decide if they can trust each other despite their disastrous past. A beautiful story of forgiveness, “A Matter of Trust” is one I will long remember.
The author has such a way with words that it was easy to imagine myself on the mountainside in Glacier National Park. I also had the positive reinforcement of gorgeous photos from my daughter and her husband’s recent visit there.
I am pleased to know that there are more installments coming in the Montana Rescue series and I am certain that I will be reading each and every one of them.
I don't know how she does it, but Susan May Warren's book grab me from the first sentence and have me completely engrossed in the story until the very last page. Gage and Ella's story was full of heartache, adventure, mystery, and of course, some swoon worthy interactions. I can't get enough of this series!
Susan May Warren has yet again written an outstanding novel in her latest release, A Matter of Trust, book 3 in the Montana Rescue series. A page turner until the end, this book will take you on a ride where you will encounter a cast full of unforgettable characters, a plot thick with tension, and a resounding message of trust and forgiveness.
True to all Warren books, this novel derives its strength from complex characters, struggling with all too relatable problems amid a resounding plot that keeps you turning page after page. I especially loved how this book builds on the plots of the previous books. As I moved through the first few chapters, I felt like I was coming home to family, getting reacquainted with their lives and digging deeper into what makes them tick. Warren does an outstanding job of developing these characters, for it is through this development that her message rings clear. The power of forgiveness, second chances, and redemption flows off the pages in a way that challenged and touched me. There is something about Warren's style that impacts and gives a promise of hope amid even the darkest of circumstances.
I am thrilled that this is not the last book in the series. Warren closed this novel with a teaser that will keep me coming back for the next two installments. If only they could release sooner!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
EMT Gage Watson, and member of PEAK, used to be a famous free boarder, but his career came to a tragic end, and now he works for the ski patrol when he isn't doing search and rescue. But he can't seem to shake the memory of the girl who betrayed him.
Ella Blair is an attorney and the second youngest senator, and she is also the girl who betrayed Gage Watson and broke his heart. But when her brother Oliver goes into restricted areas on Glacier National Park, she must rely on Gage to help her bring him back safe.
Will Gage and Ella be able to trust each other again?
Ella knows that she is the last person that Gage wants to see, but she know that if there is one person who can find her brother, that it would be Gage Watson. I was hard for me to like Ella at first because of what she did to Gage and her hardened exterior, but once I got to know her real self better, I liked her.
Gage is a great guy, and even though it's awkward to be with Ella, he still wants only the best for her, and is willing to do what he can to help her. I think that the dialog was excellent, stilted at first between Ella and Gage, then it warms and becomes more natural as they become more comfortable with each other again.
This is a fast, action-packed read with plenty going on, I really liked the side story with Ty and Brette, who are great friends. I loved the sense of community and teamwork from PEAK, and getting to see characters from other stories still working together. This is a well told story of love, forgiveness, second chances, and adventure. Highly recommend!

Susan May Warren is a very talented author and never fails to delight with her writing style. While A matter of Trust was not my favorite, it kept my attention and was a good read. Susan May Warren’s books are normally filled with attraction at first sight leading into budding romances, living with past regrets, and forgiveness. Her characters develop as the stories progress. I am glad she writes series as by the end of each book it is tough to say goodbye to those who Susan May Warren causes us to love.
A matter of Trust was filled with adventure and really was pretty intense. I was fascinated by all the information she provided about search and rescue. It is impossible not to respect and admire those who are involved in such an occupation and risk their lives to rescue others in distress. This book is not the first in the series. However, it was written in such a way that even though I had not read the first book, it did not appear necessary. I did go back and read the first in the series which was just as good as A Matter of Trust.
I think Susan May Warren’s books will especially appeal to those who enjoy romance. But even for people like myself who don’t particularly like that genre, her books hold my attention and keep me coming back for more.
I received a copy of A Matter of Trust from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.
I love Ella’s fierceness! She never quits, especially when it comes to protecting her brother, even if it means facing Gage again. It’s no surprise that their reunion reignites their attraction. Nothing like a high-stress situation to bring things to a boil, no? And despite the chill of the snowy mountains, I assure you the sparks are hot and flying between Gage and Ella.
Ella’s character is my favorite part of this book. The romance is also lovely – charming, feisty, full of realistic hurdles. Warren creates beautifully dynamic characters and plots; it’s always such a delight to read her books!
A Matter of Trust is Crisp, fast, self-pitying, fear, danger, guilt, regret, trust, faith and healing. Greg, was a fast speed junky champion of freestyle, snowboarder, but there was something sick and serious that happened that made him run away from what he loved the most. He went to P.e.a.k. and became a snow patrolman (still a junky but unconsciously) and rescues other's - then there is Ella who is a long lost love who is coming after him because of what happened before he left snowboarding, but I digress - Will there be a romance come up again with all that in between them? Will he go back to snowboarding again? Will He accept a rescue? We all know "GOD can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens them" Amen? , but will he Let GOD heal him?
This is the third book in the Montana Rescue Series. I have not read the previous books, and feel that I missed out on a lot. The author did have some back story sprinkled throughout this book, but I was still got lost a bit.
This story is centered around Gage, an amazing snowboarder with a bright future. After tragic circumstances and tough decisions, Gage has lost everything. He now works with a search and rescue team at Glacier National Park.
The last person he wants to run into is Ella Blair, the woman on the other side of the court case three years ago. She is the main reason he lost everything.
These two bump into each other as Ella searches for her brother Oliver. At first, they can't stand the sight of each other, but their frost melts as they realize they still care for one another. But when buried secrets come to light, can they trust each other and forgive, or walk away forever?
I liked this book, but really wish I had started the series at book 1. I know nothing about skiing or snowboarding and learned so much! The author is excellent at describing the mountains, valleys, and snowboarding techniques. I felt like I was snowboarding right beside Gage and Ella! And I loved the part with the avalanche!. Gave me goosebumps!
Overall a good read, just start with book 1.
This novel picks up the threads of the previous books in the series in a manner which allows a first time reader to understand it and enjoy it. However, having read the others, the journey is all the more interesting and the characters all progress in their own tales. The overarching storyline has a few more layers exposed, this is one mystery I'm dying to know the answer to! The focus is on the relationship between Gage and Ella which is captivating as the reader feels like one is with the characters every step of this adrenaline-packed adventure. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the snowboarding, it sounds quite magical!
With so many characters I enjoy and relate to, it was a swift read and I eagerly await the next one! This one is a four on the en-JOY-meant scale and highly recommended!
Oh, my! Get ready for a reading blitz with this one! Fast paced, edge-of-your-seat action and the heroes of PEAK Rescue, all in one place. This series just gets better!
Gage Watson has spent the last three years trying to live down his reckless reputation. One of the best free-riding snowboarders ever, Gage lost it all when another young man was killed following Gage's line. Never mind that Gage had refused to take him along. He still died following Gage, trying to be him. Because of the lawsuit that followed, Gage lost his entire career, his sponsorships, even the woman he was rapidly falling in love with. Gone.
The last man Ella Blair expected to run into when she went searching for her wayward brother was Gage Watson. Three years ago she fell hard for the snowboarding superstar. Now, he's the only one who has a prayer of talking her brother out of his latest harebrained scheme. Ollie wants to ski Gage's most epic run - a run Gage spent years plotting and planning - a run that nearly killed him. Ella can't let her brother do it but can she ask the man she betrayed in court to help her?
I know nothing about skiing or snowboarding but even I could tell that this book was written by someone who does know. The amazing detail made me feel like I was watching everything happen on-screen. I could almost feel the powder in my face! And, let me tell you, I nearly had a panic attack of my own while I read the avalanche scene. It was WAY too realistic!
I love how Ms. Warren weaves together the lives of all of the team members. While A Matter of Trust focuses on Gage's story and his relationship with Ella, we also get to see more of Ty Remington, Pete Brooks, Jess Tagg, Ian Fleming, and the other PEAK team members. The ongoing mystery that started in the first book gets some new clues toward solving it but not enough to finish it. Romance readers will enjoy Gage and Ella's story. Action/adventure readers will love the extreme skiing scenes - which are many. I highly recommend this book. While it works as a stand alone, it's much better if you have the background from the first two books. Add this to your summer reading stack!
Book number 3 is the continuation story of Gage Watson and Ella Blair. They have not seen one another since she led the lawsuit against Gage, that destroyed his fame and career and ruined his life. Now he works for PEAK RESCUE rescuing snowbound snowboarders. Gage is shocked to see Ella again. She has followed her brother to Montana to keep an eye on him so he won’t do anything foolish. She begs Gage to go after her brother when he places himself on the same daredevil run that Gage did on Video. Warren has such a way with words that she keeps you spellbound. You are placed right among the characters, feeling the wind and biting cold, flying off a cliff through the air on a snowboard barely missing trees to land in a heap….or trying to breathe when the wolves howl around your tent in the snow covered darkness. Digging out from under an avalanche of snow and ice, wondering will you be lost or rescued? Holding your breath at the danger…….. Can Gage and Ella put the past behind them and work together to find her brother alive? This is a powerful story of love and forgiveness………I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I loved it! This is the best in the series so far. This is Gage and Ella's story. Gage is a world champion snowboarder who lost his career because of Ella's law firm. A few years later they cross paths again under similar circumstances only this time they are working together to save her brother's life. The action in this story is INTENSE, you feel like you're going down the mountain with them. On the sidelines you have Pete and Jess's story and Ty and Brette for upcoming novels in the series and more secrets!
This is a suspenseful book as well as one of forgiveness. I kept reading to find out what would happen between Gage and Ella as they had to put their differences aside to find Ella's brother. Gage could have let his feelings get in the way of doing his job, but realized that would cause even more trouble than was already there. Gage had to learn to trust and put his hurt aside and Ella had to fess up to what she had done for them to be able to work together and do the job that had to be done. I enjoyed reading this book and this is a great series.
I received a copy from the publisher to read, the review is entirely my own.
This was a fun romance with a twist of suspense. I have not read the first two books in this series but it was not a problem to understand what was going on in this book. Gage and Ella are very personable people and I liked the rwst of the characters in the book. I like the Peak rescue team and look forward to learning more about the ongoing mystery within this series. I received this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Wow! This book flew by. Literally. As in a rush of snowboards and slopes. And cliffs and avalanches!
I've loved every book in this series but I especially loved this one. Gage and Ella were a wonderful pair of characters. I really loved Ella's ability to impress and keep up with Gage no matter what. I could never dream of being as brave and daring as her but loved living vicariously through her in the pages of this book.
I also loved all of the returning characters from the other books in this series. I've loved all the books and it seems each one is my favorite until I read the next one! Warren is an amazing author and I always get lost in the pages of her books.
Anytime an author uses her characters to learn a lesson on forgiveness is always a favorite theme of mine. It is a hard concept to forgive someone that has hurt you. I also love how Warren turns her characters back to God.
This book also started to answer some of the mysterious questions from this series. Though now I really can't wait for the next book to see how some of these mysteries resolve! I'm also curious to see how some relationships continue too.
This book is super fast paced, full of amazing descriptions of snowboarding, and also full of amazingly terrifying events. I couldn't believe what a fast read it was until I realized half the book I'd been snowboarding in terrifying conditions!
Special thanks to Revell for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Susan May Warren has done it again! A Matter of Trust was another spectacular addition to the Montana Rescue Series. I've been super eager to read this book, it's been one of my most anticipated books of the year. Gage was a bit of a mystery to me in the first two books, so I was excited to learn more about him.
A Matter of Trust gave me a ringside seat to the beauty of Glacier National Park and the extreme sport of backcountry snowboarding. I experienced all the accompanying cold and adrenaline rush, and it wasn't all on the slopes either. Ella and Gage have a history, one that went from head over heels in love to opposite sides of the court room. Tension and suspense are out in full force!
Gage has every reason to be angry with Ella, and want nothing to do with her. Despite falling hard for him, when Ella thinks he's done something he said he wouldn't, she turned on him. Without talking to him. So NOT "a matter of trust"! Ella finally discovers the truth and realizes things are not as black and white as she had thought. So why doesn't she right the wrong?! Tension to the extreme!
I loved getting to catch up with all the characters from the previous books and meet new ones, too. Pete's one of my favorite characters, so I'm super happy that his and Jess' journey continued. Ty's got a bigger supporting role in this story, which I really loved. He was always in the background in the previous books, so it was nice to get to know him better.
This could probably be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading the series from the beginning in order to get the full enjoyment out of it. There's a lot of characters whose story arcs continue to grow with each new book and even though the author does a great job of recapping previous books, I think it's best to start with Wild Montana Skies.
Each book in this series seems to get better and better. Wild Montana Skies and Rescue Me are some of my favorites that I've read this year and I can add A Matter of Trust right there with them. I seriously can't wait for Ian and Sierra's story in Troubled Waters. It's been a long time coming and I'm so excited to read it!
Gage is the main character of Susan May Warren's "A Matter of Trust," as he is another member of the PEAK Rescue Team whom we have met in the previous Montana Rescue novels, but really have not known much about. This all changes as the reader learns about Gage's past as a snowboarder and what has lead him to this stage in his life to be a part of this team. Gage finds himself facing his past and regrets he has been struggling with when Ella reenters his life. Ella has followed her brother out to Montana to try and stop him from throwing his life away and from possibly doing a life-threatening, dangerous run down a mountain. However, Ella is the one who cost Gage his career and she and Gage both have been struggling with this ever since. Susan always does an amazing job with engaging the reader; the storylines are well-paced and the characters are so easy to relate to and enjoyable to spend time with. I have enjoyed this series so much and getting to know each of the team members, but also still "keeping in touch" with the ones whom have been the focus of the previous novels as well! I highly recommend this book and series. It is a great mixture of adventure, suspense, romance and drama!
Danger and action abound in this book by Susan May Warren! You will feel like you are snowboarding down the cliffs in Glacier National Park! Both protagonists are well written and sparks are flying between them! I especially enjoyed this book as I was ready to leave for a trip including Glacier when I read it! I recommend this exciting book to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction. I received my e-book through Net Galley. This is my honest opinion.
