Rum Runner is the first book I've read by Tricia Leedom. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found this to be an exciting book that got me hooked!
Sophie has never known her Dad and when the opportunity came for her to find him herself, she flew all the way to Miami. Where she got kidnapped. Jimmy owed Sophie's father a favour so he had to look out for Sophie and help rescue her.
Along the way, they fell for each other, without meaning to of course.
This book was full of adventures and steamy moments. Absolutely loved it!
This has definitely gone on my favorites list! I absolutely LOVED this book! I think the only bad thing I have to say about it is that I wish it were longer and/or the series never ends! I can see the setting so vividly in my mind and it’s so beautiful! I love the friendships between all the characters, the love part is very believeable. All around such an amazing book!!!
Well written with lots of action both in the bedroom and in the field. Dutchess (pet name Panama gives her) is looking for her dad. Her dad sent her a medallion to keep safe for him. She comes home and finds that her apartment has been trashes by person looking for the item. Her father wrote her a letter to request she send the medallion to a hotel room in Florida. She believes her father got her mother pregnant and left, never to return to see her. Little does she know that her parents were married for two years before they broke up. For readers of Suzanne Brockmann and Cherry Adair it is a must read.
A sexy read with great characters and good plotline. Couldn't have asked for anything else.
Sophie Davies-Stone is your typical upper crust Englishwoman...wealthy, educated, snobbish and woefully ignorant of the ways of the world beyond her social circle. Having heard stories about her runaway father all her life, when Sophie receives a message that her father wants a "package" delivered to him at a Key West address, Sophie jumps at the opportunity to meet her father face-to-face.
Jimmy Panama has a rough and tumble life in Key West. He's an old friend of Mitch Thompson, Sophie's father, and has been tasked with the pickup and delivery of a package for his friend. So he's definitely NOT expecting that package to be wrapped up in a blonde, curvy, snooty British woman demanding to see her father and not relinquishing the package until she meets him!
Unfortunately, Mitch and Jimmy aren't the only ones looking for this mysterious package. Now, against Jimmy's better judgement and Sophie's hard headedness, the two are on the run. Running FROM the bad guys and, hopefully, running TO a meeting with Sophie's elusive father.
Hang onto your seat and enjoy a wild ride with RUM RUNNER by Tricia Leedom.
I read the whole thing, but it wasn't that great. Sophie and Jimmy were a very unlikely pair, she was unpredictable and the plot was kind of beyond ridiculous. There is no way they could have been tracked that easily or that quickly. I couldn't get passed the obvious flaws to enjoy the rest of the story.
Rum Runner reminded me a lot of the movie Fool's Gold. Although it has a younger cast and it's not quite as funny. Sophie has been hanging on to a medallion for her absent father for awhile, and now he wants it back. She's not just going to hand it over though. She finally wants to meet the man who ran out on her and her mother. However, when she arrives, her father isn't there. Instead, she's faced with Jimmy and a hoard of bad guys who want her father. Sophie should just return to England where she's safe, but for some reason she just can't bring herself to leave.
Rum Runner was really fun. Sophie and Jimmy get into all kinds of trouble as they try to keep the baddies from catching them. Sophie is desperate to meet her father and learn the truth about what happened between her parents. Sadly, her father isn't an easy man to track down. Meanwhile, Jimmy is working for her father, but he also can't let Sophie get hurt because of him. Needless to say, he's not always honest with her, which leads to an annoying fight. But of course, they kiss and make up.
The one thing that I didn't like about Rum Runner was April's chapters. I liked her a lot, actually, but her chapters killed all of the mystery. She overhears something, but isn't quite sure what she heard. Well, as the reader, we know that she just heard the bad guy! Now we don't have to wonder who's behind all of Sophie's trouble in America! There are several more chapters from her POV which spoil what's going on. I really could have done without them, and it would have kept up the mystery until the end.
I did really enjoy Run Runner. Something is always happening and it's a really fun premise. The romance is a pretty typical opposites attract type with Sophie being a proper English lady and Jimmy being an ex-SEAL treasure hunter playboy. Obviously, their attraction is magnified by the adrenaline of near death situations, so it's kind of insta-lovey but believable.
Wow! Best book I've read in a long time! Rum Runner will spin you around, blow your mind and take you on the roller coaster of your life!
Sophie Davis-Stone is a rich high society girl from London, England. But life has been boring with her mother and step-dad and to top it off her fiancé cheated on her...although she's not all that upset about it.
After arriving home from the trip from hell with her ex-fiancé karma is waiting just around the corner. Sophie has received a mysterious letter from the father she has never met and despite instructions otherwise Sophie sets off to find the one man she has wanted to know her entire life.
As Sophie heads off to the United States trouble soon follows. Instead of finding her father, up tight Sophie meets a man she instantly dislikes but who may be the only link to her mysterious father.
Jimmy Panama is ex-Navy Seal who now deals in some seedier things in life which he hides behind his boat touring company in Miami, Florida. When Sophie's father finds out she's in Miami he tasks Jimmy with protecting her from some dangerous men who are after him.
With danger around every corner it will take everything in Jimmy's arsenal to protect the beautiful Brit.
This book is filled with a myriad of characters who provide some comedy relief as well as undying loyalty that can only be shared by fellow Navy Seals who have put their lives in each other's hands too many times to count.
And lest I forget things become hot and steamy and I don't mean just from the scorching temperatures of the tropics.
Hold on tight because the seas are going to get rough and the twists will toss you around like the storm that Sophie and Jimmy are heading straight into.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for high packed action to go along with your craving for a good romance.
I voluntarily read this book.

Rum Runner is a fantastic, fun, sexy adventure. It's less a romance and more a witty, sexy action movie. Think Pirates of the Caribbean set in modern times, with a more robust hero.
Jimmy Panama is a former Navy SEAL who owes his buddy Mitch a favor. To repay that favor he agrees to pick up a package for him. Only, when he goes to wait at the hotel for the package Mitch's daughter was supposed to mail, he finds the daughter instead of the package. And that daughter is a beautiful, elegant British woman who ignites something best left unexplored in Jimmy. When Sophie declares she won't give Jimmy the package because she'd rather meet the father she's never before seen, Jimmy decides he's done with owing favors. But when Mitch begs him to get Sophie away from some dangerous men also looking for the package...the adventure begins!
I really like Rum Runner. Sophie is awesome. She's smart and sassy and elegant all at the same time. She's not the damsel in distress that you'd think from first impression. Rather, she's resourceful and strong, more than a match for the former Navy SEAL. Jimmy's not just a former SEAL, though. He's a real, scarred man who's been living with the guilt of his actions for years. That he still feels guilt says a lot about him, a lot GOOD. He may come across as some sort of underhanded bum, but he's far from it. He's in truth, a good man who blames himself for something and needs to be forgiven so he can forgive himself. That Sophie is the one to forgive him gives the two an excellent basis to the relationship that was simmering throughout Rum Runner.
If you're looking for a witty, sexy, funny, action packed story with real, layered characters, look no further than Rum Runner. This world Tricia Leedom has created is addicting, can't wait for Molly and Jimmy's brother's story!
Rum Runner was a fabulous well balanced action romance never sacrificing one for the other. I have not read Tricia Leedom before but I definitely look forward to reading more of her work. Sophie and Jimmy have their problem but as I embarked on this journey with them I was hooked. I will be recommending this book to other readers
Rum Runner is packed with action, romance, and humor - the adrenaline from these characters' adventure will keep readers turning the pages! It was a lot of fun reading this book.
The characters are all easy to fall in love with.
Sophie is at a crossroad of some sort as she hops on a plane to find her father. She's curious about the man she has never met, and I don't blame her. Her only communication with him has been through letters or random artifacts he's found and sent her for safekeeping. With the urge to know more about the man behind the words, she heads off on an adventure she doesn't know is waiting for her.
The story is told through multiple POVs and we meet our next character, Jimmy, immediately afterward - and I enjoyed him just like I did Sophie. He's a cocky, ex Navy SEAL who ends up crossing paths with Sophie thanks to him owing her father a huge favor. And it just so happens that favor is to obtain a package, that is a medallion currently around Sophie's neck.
.. And of course, Sophie isn't willing to just hand this over to anyone who isn't her father.
This is where the adventure truly begins!
Sophie and Jimmy compliment each other in a fantastic way! They had me laughing and swooning. Their chemistry was coming off the pages and I couldn't get enough of these two together. The banter, hands on hips, eye rolls, kissing(?), all of it was so much fun to read!
And there are plenty of other characters that are introduced, even another POV that comes into play for the story, and I enjoyed them all! I wasn't completely sold on the extra POV, but by the end of the book it all made sense. I loved the foreshadowing done through Tricia Leedom's writing! I was truly impressed because this is a fantastic debut from her. Her writing, the story and characters, kept me entertained throughout the entirety of the book! I'll be looking forward to her future work.
I don't want to spoil too much of the story.
I promise that if you're in the mood for a fun adventure with a spicy romance then this book is perfect for you! The intense adventure the characters go through and the fun in their romance will keep you wanting more! And it all wraps up nicely, setting up the future of the next book as well. I can't wait to dig into more of these characters' I enjoyed so much! <3
Really revs your engines... romance at its most exciting!
This book is funny, sexy, and enthralling. It's mysterious. You will love this great summer beach read!
