What an emotional read! The first scene got to me. Loved how fate brought two unlikely people together. Love this book filled with secrets with a little twist. Josie is determined to get revenge on the Duke of Blackthorne never expecting to fall in love. The Duke of Blackthorne is a widow and need a wife to save his legacy. Josie is life took an unexpected turn which causes her separation from her family and she’s ready to find them. When a surprise visit gives her an opportunity to see her family and seek her revenge. However the more time she spends with the Duke, she sees a different side of him. In the end they both learn to take a chance on love. Recommended read.

I waited a looooooooong time for this story and I can only say this: It was damn worth it!

This is the fourth book in Mail-Order Brides series (‘Texas Bride’ by Joan Johnston, ‘Wyoming Bride’ by Joan Johnston, and ‘Montana Bride’ by Joan Johnston I loved), and it was worth the wait.

I know that mail-order bride tropes are dime-a-dozen out there and sometimes I'm really skeptical about them, but this series in this authors hands was one of the best I've ever read. The reason for it is because the trope takes second place to the characterization, so that the story is character-driven.

To better understand the character and story of Josie, the youngest Wentworth sister, I highly recommend you read all three books before this one. I think you'll get the dynamic of this family and their history much better. You'll find out what happened to Josie and what shaped her character. As heroines go, she was everything we can only dream of being, smart, strong willed, loyal and witty. My heart went out to this young woman who has endured so much heartache yet remained optimistic and hopeful.

Our hero, Marcus, was a complex man and I needed some time to fully warm up to him, even though he'd exhibited plenty of good qualities.

I was truly happy to see the ending included all the Wentworth's and their families. It was like a cherry on top of my sundae!

If you like western romance then this author and her books, this series included, must be on your list.

The final installment in the Mail Order Brides series. Josie was save from the Sioux and taken far away from her family only to find her great love. ARC from NetGalley.

This is an awesome story! I loved knowing the insider details about each character and how they knew and felt about the other when they didn’t, it made this such a fun read. I really like that even though this book was written as a continuation to a series (I didn’t know that until after I read the book) that the author wrote for her fans because they requested to know “what happened to Josie” I never felt like I was missing part of the story. I am looking forward to reading the first 3 books in the series now to see if they can give more insight into the heroin I have grown to love.

The Duke of Blackthorne couldn't have predicted the course that his life would take after saving a girl from a savage Souix beating, but to say it was eventful is an understatement. After two long years and heartbreak in between, Blackthorne and Josie meet up again in a most unconventional way, and this pattern continues throughout their relationship together. Sweet, sexy and a bit suspenseful, Blackthorne's Bride is a romance not to be missed.

NOPE. The characters were SO irritating and the story didn't interest me at all. Thanks to the Publisher for the review copy.

Loved the book. The story of Josie, by itself, is remarkable but add to it Marcus and it is a becomes a great love story. The torture Josie endured by the Sioux is horrific and then being mistreated as a servant makes you wonder how she survived intact and not bitter. There are so many different story lines in this book that it would be easy for sequels to be developed. I would highly recommend this book.

An epic read full of ups and downs. Misunderstandings and hidden motives. A love story with another side of romance.

I really enjoyed this book! I felt that it wrapped up the family's story well. Getting into this book made me want to go back and reread the first three books, so I'm sure I'll be adding those to my library checkouts soon!

I thoroughly enjoy all of Ms. Johnston’s books and Blackthorne’s Bride didn’t disappoint! It can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story, however I highly recommend reading the entire Brides series. The author does a good job of catching you up on the other stories, in case you didn’t get a chance to read them. I love Josie’s character and was really looking forward to this book! I think Marcus is a perfect hero for her and it was satisfying to see her also reunite with her family. I am definitely going to re-read the entire series, as they are all such quick and wonderful reads! Enjoy!

I will start by saying, I am sad this book had to finish. I truly enjoyed Blackthorne's Bride. It made me, laugh, cry, and get excited all throughout the story. I would go into detail but I dont want to spoil the storyline for nobody. One thing I can tell you is that any book by Joan Johnston is superb. You can't go wrong wirh none of her books. They will capture your heart and soul. One warning though, once you read any book by Joan Johnston you will never be able to stop reading her books. You will continue to read all her books and her new books will not be out soon enough for you to read. I promise you the wait for any of her books its worth rhe wait. Blackthorne Bride will steal your heart and make it sing with joy. You will not be disappointed....If I could i would give this book a hundred stars. Wonderful storyline, wonderful everything. You will not be able to put the book down until you read the last page...I know I wasn't able to put it down until i read the last page.....I look forward to all her new books and so will you...I promise you will not be disappointed with this book or any other.....the only disappointment is when the story comes to an end and even then the characters will always live in your heart.....

Just finished this book and enjoyed it. The beginning was exciting but once they got married it seemed to drag a bit until they went after the Duke's sister, then the story seemed to move along once the trip to America occurred. I really liked having the family history reviewed although it did seem to repeat itself a couple of times too many. I would have bought this book anyways since I have read all the rest of the Blackthorne stories.
There were a couple of times during the book it seemed easier to feel the heart break and sadness that Josie felt when she was ready to stop fighting for her life, when she knew that she would leave the Duke, and when she knew she had fallen for the Duke.

Thank you for the opportunity.

I'm not a fan of western movies or prairie stories, so wouldn't ordinarily have read this author's work. So glad I received an ARC for a unbiased review! Truly enjoyed this sweet story. It was a fairly quick, enjoyable book. The H is charming and interesting, the h is delightful and thoroughly entertaining. They are wonderful together, and truly deserving of a HEA. There were still a few unanswered questions about the story, but I can accept the story without having them. Since I'm not a fan of the genre this is based on, I doubt I'll read more in the series, and the book stands quite well alone. This is a book I highly recommend for its romance and passion.

Very sweet story of how broken lives and hearts can be mended when others give us a chance. Loved the way the author weaved all the separate stories into one cohesive book.

Am a huge fan of Joan Johnston and this book doesn't disappoint. I was waiting to find out if the Duke of Blackthorne and Josie Wentworth would be reunited and how. And if Josie would be able to come back to America to see her family. I love the Bitter Creek and the Mail- Order Bride series by this author and how she is able to weave her series together but yet make each story stand alone. I look forward to further generations of Blackthorne, Creed, and Wentworth family stories whether they are historical or modern or some where in between. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Johnston, but she's fast becoming one of my favorite authors. "Blackthorne's Bride” is part of a series, but it's not necessary to read the other books to enjoy this one. Josie Wentworth is saved from brutal torture at the hands of a rogue Sioux warrior by Marcus Wharton, the Duke of Blackthorne, who happened to be on a trip to the American west. On the way back to England, Marcus tends Josie's back which is crisscrossed with scars from the whipping she endured and promises to send her home once she's healed.

Two years later, Josie who has been forced to work as a maid at one of Blackthorne's remote properties, is found by a Pinkerton detective and he informs her she is now an heiress. Josie has one mission--to exact revenge against the Duke who has forced her to work for the past two years and to save his two neglected nephews. What happens next to these two is unexpected, exasperating, and exhilarating. Ms. Johnston weaves in the back story of what happened to Josie and her sisters on the plains of the American West without overpowering Josie and Marcus's story. I loved that Josie was not the usual young woman found in Victorian romances. She was strong, smart and knew exactly what she wanted. She kept the Duke on his toes throughout the book. This was a delightful and engaging book that kept my interest to the end. Definitely recommended.

The story takes off from the first pages, full of action. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Marcus is the Duke and he's sexy and handsome and really just wonderful. Josie becomes his duchess through crazy circumstances and it's quite the ride. My only complaint is that Josie and Marcus should have been thrown together more but because there are so many characters in two continents it would have taken two books. Even with this I must say the story was good and the author did a great job writing it. Some of the historical aspects were a little off but even that didn't diminish from enjoying this book. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Ive always loved Joan Johnston's books and it amazes me how she can keep this series going to so well and tie in other books effortlessly. This one is particular is a great book and kept me reading when I really should have been doing something else...perhaps working!!! All in all her books are the bees knees.
